Obviously the actual PPV match will be much longer, because with Sheamus pinning Bryan twice in a row it'll take at least 36 seconds, so they'll need to practice this a couple of more times before the 29th.
I'm looking forward to Extreme Rules way more than I was for WrestleMania. Part of the reason is because I'm a way bigger fan of Lesnar than the Rock. But a big part of it is the Chicago crowd. I want to hear nothing but YES! chants all night. Preferably in multiple languages.
I think the RAW after WM gave you a good idea of how (1) the WM crowd would've sounded like in an enclosed arena/stadium and (2) how the Chicago crowd will probably be like.
I was at WrestleMania, and I don't know how it came off on TV due to the open-air nature, but the crowd was JACKED for Rock/Cena. It was the loudest wrestling crowd I've ever been in, on par with any sporting event I've attended. For reference, I was also at WM24 (outdoors) and WM27 (indoors), have been to numerous TV tapings, PPVs, ROH, DGUSA, etc. Nothing came close to being in that crowd in Miami.
Does anyone remember the series of matches Orlando Jordan and Chris Benoit had, when Benoit beat him in around 30 seconds at Summerslam and they had a series of rematches where he lost even quicker, until lasting 48 seconds was this huge achievement for him? Sheamus vs. Bryan could be like that, but with a guy people actually care about.
Those tv taping dark match main events are always quick like that. But I agree with another poster's earlier idea that Sheamus should win the first fall in 18 seconds the have a long match after that, just cause it would drive the crowd crazy.
Also, CM Punk should stay the centerpiece of Raw, not Be moved to Smackdown.
I'd go the other way - have BRYAN win the first fall really quickly, but then continually fail to get the second fall and get DQd or something (I assume we're still on Harts / Demos for the precedent). He then does the YES-kick-YES-kick spot that they've been doing at the house shows only for Sheamus to no-sell and pin him.
That way, Bryan gets what he deserves because the only reason he didn't win the title was because of the stip that he himself demanded.
He's going to lock in the yes lock in under 18 seconds is my call. The first fall will just be a table setter, the second fall is where all the cool shit is gonna happen.
I'm really f'in proud of Daniel Bryan. He's enjoying the HELL out of himself and making some tasty lemonade out of the lemons he's been dealt (a mixed metaphor if you weeeel). I can honestly say that I couldn't swallow what he's been forced to swallow, and he's coming out on top.
If he starts getting some big wins I could see him getting his heat back. Del Rio is much too solid a performer to not at least try another main event push. If it doesn't work out then just make him an upper midcarder or tag wrestler.
Wasn't the heat for that crowd a little weak for a Sheamus win? Seeing he's from the U.K. you would think that the crowd would be a little hotter than that. This should be a big warning sign about how stupid it is to keep doing this to Daniel Bryan.
An English crowd isn't likely to go nuts for an Irishman given the rivalry between those two countries. It was amazing how over Bryan was on the UK shows.

I'm not expecting Bryan to get the title back but their ER match better be a good, long affair that's all I'll say.

You'd think that after being cut off at the knees the last two Wrestlemanias, they would have enough ideas built up for a good, long match. We'll see.

ReplyDeleteThey can get 18 seconds if they just eliminate the break between falls. Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick, then pins Daniel Bryan for the six count.

I like that shtick - sure it makes Jordan look like crap, but it's good comedy. R-Truth could pull it off better as a heel and not lose too much face.
