Comment of the Day
Curtis Williams brings up the old drugs debate questioning why cannabis is banned, along with many pro wrestlers:
I don't understand why WWE is counting Marijuana as a strike. The lesser the pill related deaths the better. I'd much rather my workers getting high and eating Pizza in their hotel rooms than possibly risking Heart Attack and bad PR.
On This Day...
Brock Lesnar defeated Hardcore Holly for the WWE Title in what would be Holly's only WWE main event push (well, let's not rule it out JUST yet..). Stevie Richards (I think..?) went on to win the Royal Rumble, after entering the match at #1. (2004)
Hollywood Hogan and The Giant went to a thrilling No Contest at Souled Out. The Steiners also defeated The Outsiders for the WCW Tag Team Titles, as well as Eddie Guerrero facing Syxx (Sean Waltman) in a ladder match for the US Title. (1997)

  1. I remember in the 90's how much everyone hated Pettingell (Pettinzoo!!).

Now I'd love to have him back instead of Michael Cole...

  2. "Brock Lesnar defeated Hardcore Holly for the WWE Title..."

When I first read that I thought meant defeated him for it in that Holly had it and Lesnar took it from him... it is possible that had Holly ever had a title run that I would have blocked it from my memory.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I think Orton/Lesnar would be an awesome match. Far more interesting than Brock/HHH II.

    ReplyDelete
  4. That may be a wild overreaction... PettingZoo was horrendously obnoxious.

    ReplyDelete
  5. If they do book a Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton feud I hope we get to see Orton twisting around mid-move as Lesnar tries to hit him with the F5 enabling Orton to counter into the RKO! Although I hope they don't try to recreate Orton's RKO counter to Evan Bourne's Shooting Star Press with Lesnar, considering what happened the last time Lesnar tried to perform a Shooting Star Press!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Could the choice of opponent be a hint about Brock's future in WWE? If he's leaving, the company will want to do the job on his way out, which would probably mean Punk. If he's staying, then Brock could very well beat Orton to keep him looking strong.

Even with WWE's ass-backwards booking, I really don't see them having Brock job to Randy "Two Strikes" Orton, who is already on the downward slide as a draw and big player in the company.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Awful but I kinda miss him in a nostalgia sort of way

    ReplyDelete
  8. If Rock losing to The Hurricane can't get him a push, nothing can.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I don't know how he was in the booth because I only know him from being called a hermaphrodite by the Rock, but Kevin Kelly has been aces on those Place2Be podcasts.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Would Randy be at all interesting in TNA?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Brock/Punk could be really cool. When Punk drops the title to Rock, Heyman can turn on him for losing and bring in Brock to destroy him.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Love the 92 rumble but benoit in 04 was on fire. Best rumble ever

    ReplyDelete
  13. He's too busy singing embarrassingly bad song parodies about lance Armstrong on a terrible radio show. It's hard to believe but imo cole > todd p

    ReplyDelete
  14. You should overthrow the blog like that Tom Cruise guy did back when it was on LiveJournal if you don't get your post of the day award soon...

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hopefully they go that route and not the way they did when Brock first had the title and have Heyman screw him in favor of Brock... don't know how they'd explain that but it makes as much sense as when he aligned with Big Show over Brock.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Heyman making him be the first entrant, and the promo he cut on him really sold it well...

It's a shame, it's the closest Hennig will ever get to greatness.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Keep the beard and call him Joe "The Axe" Hennig.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ironically, Hennig was more of a SNES fan and never owned a Genesis.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh man, I'd forgotten about those cWo losers...

    ReplyDelete
  21. The one man riot squad...

    It has potential.

    ReplyDelete
  22. That would be a great nickname for a big dude like Ryback.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yeah that was the dumbest shit ever

    ReplyDelete
  24. So in one of the most ironic posts ever, WWE has put up an article of "The Worst Ring Names in History".

I make the post on their Facebook that nothing has changed and WWE still has a roster with stupid names; like Michael McGillicuddy, Husky Harris, and Khassius Ohno, and some dumb dago (I'm Italian some I'm allowed to say it) attacks me because my last name is Maiale (which means pig in Italian).

Mind you, I've always warn that as a badge of honor (and is always one of those fun little factoids I throw out at a bar).

    ReplyDelete
  25. Husky Harris is decent, but Khassius Ohno is a great wrestling name.

    ReplyDelete
  26. This post is really only for the fuj and jef vinson but I was just listening to some music and remembered this was the best rap song to use the box with god line. And there's a chris benoit line so its still wrestling related. Sean p is awesome as a single rapper but I definitely miss ruck and rock.

  27. I always thought that a great gimmick for the Souled Out PPVs would have been that if any nWo members lost, they were kicked out. Easy way to get rid of some of the jobbers in the group.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Just looking through YouTube and they also sampled Goldust's theme which turned out to be awesome lol.

    ReplyDelete
  29. That's a fun hype video, but they use some terrible music to soundtrack their PPVs these days.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'd really like to get back to when they'd use those awesome production themes for video packages.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Starting now, this is the moment I explain the joke from this moment on, starting now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61Y4y0XBKUM

    ReplyDelete
  32. If Orton's getting that heel that he so badly wants, then feuding him with Brock doesn't make any sense.

    ReplyDelete
  33. The way the Aces & Eights are going, TNA may not be far away from that idea.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Husky Harris was ok, but Bray Wyatt is goooooood.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Agreed. Wyatt is a big improvement.

    ReplyDelete
  36. If John Cena endorsing Trent Barreta can't get him on Raw or SD...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yeah, I get that it's a pun on K.O and "Oh no!!" but it's still a Japanese name. You wouldn't stick a white guy out there and name him Chang, right?

    ReplyDelete
  38. If he spelled it Onoo, you'd be right. Just don't think of it as a last name, just a nick name, which is how it is intended to come off.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Fun fact: In the very last Halloween movie to feature Jamie Lee Curtis, there was a character named Donna Chang in the movie.

    She wasn't Chinese.

    ReplyDelete
  40. No such thing as Onoo. It's either 大野, which is spelled in English as Ohno, or 小野, which is Ono. The difference in the first two symbols (meaning big and small) is whether you stretch out the sound of the "o" or not. The second symbol (meaning field) is always just spelled/pronounced "no." Have an ex named Ohno as proof if that counts. Yes, some people like Yoko and Sonny have spelled it Onoo, but linguistically it's incorrect and is a bastardized spelling.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Google lied to me. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE! THE INTERNETS BETRAYED ME!

    ReplyDelete
  42. There was a whole Seinfeld episode about a woman named Donna Chang that wasn't Chinese.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I thought it was pretty funny. Their blog got tired eventually, no legs, but made me laugh a bunch.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Fuck that guy. Fuck him right in the murdering mouth.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I thought "Husky Harris" was a fine name - kind of a throwback to older times and simpler names. He was always great in the ring and on the mic, as well, he really should have been given more after that short stint as job-guy in "New Nexus".

Back on topic, at least it wasn't "Lucky Cannon".

    ReplyDelete
  46. Come on. Benoit existed and we loved his work. There's no need to ignore all the good that he did because of the bad.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm confused--are you saying he's a man who engages in intercourse with underage toads or are you saying he's a toad who is also a pedophile? I'm considering up-voting your comment, but I need clarification on this point.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I dunno, he looked like he'd be a biter.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Well YEAH. But thankfully, my joint is small enough to fit in the missing tooth slot, so no worries.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I guess I agree, kind of... Toad was horrible, but yeah, I'll take him over Cole any day of the week.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Meh. He was a fictional character. I have no problem going back and enjoying his matches.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Did you guys not watch the match of the day when the Action Zone tag match ran last week? He was comparing wrestlers to power rangers and crash test dummies! He was supposed to comic relief but was never funny!

I feel like poor Grimey over here pointing out the flaws of Homer.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Dude, it's obvious that no one advocates what Benoit did to his family. The fact that you went down that path is lazy.

He was a great wrestler. That happened.

Every time I hear the 'box with God' line, I hear Xzibit saying "your lungs are too small to hotbox with God" which I always thought was pretty sweet. Chronic 2001 was such a fantastic record, blows the original Chronic out of the water. Which I know is sacrilege, but goddamn is it good.

Then B-Rad said it in Workaholics, and the line became even sweeter. Let's go get some pancakes. And fuck chicks!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Until reading your post I didn't even realize that it said WWE Title in the original paragraph. I read Hardcore Title. So apparently my mind isn't even capable of placing Bob Holly and the WWE Title in any proximity to each other.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Sure, it happened. The question is, who cares in comparison? Again, I don't see you poring over Manson's poetry. Because you know it came from a diseased mind, and to give it any more recognition makes you feel more than a little dirty. It's kinda like that.

    ReplyDelete
  57. The question is, why do you care so much about this instance? Are you picketing outside prisons advocating death row to any inmates that are serving life sentences for similar things? Are you raging about ANYONE else in a similar manner? Are you part of advocate groups for the death penalty or something to FIX what caused him to murder (whatever you think it may have been)? No...what you're doing is getting off on looking important and casting judgement on an easy target (and that's not meant to breed sympathy for Benoit, who did indeed die a monster IMO, I'm just saying this case is easy to judge since the evidence was so cut and dry). You're getting off on making grand statements & casting judgment on other people. And well, I think that would indicate a pretty small, insecure person.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Oh...that is a WONDERFUL idea. I fully support this.

    ReplyDelete
  59. HERE COMES CHRIS BENOIT, AND HE'S REALLY MAD!
HERE COMES CHRIS BENOIT, AND HE'S REALLY AN-GRY!

  60. The bcc is still putting out quality hip hop. Check out buckshot and 9th wonders new album. Rock has the best voice for rappin its incomparable to anyone else.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Thanks man. This is why I love the internet. I didn't even know "the solution" had come out. Just bought the album, I'm kinda stoked.I lovr buckshot and the last 2 albums with 9th wonder were nice. I was actually just listening to dah shinin' randomly before I saw your reply which is kind of weird lol

    ReplyDelete
  62. I don't know, Ask Scott, he coined it and then ran it into the ground, out the other side of the planet and then back into the ground again. I was just showing off my amazing, yet pathetic, memory.
