That game was an hour of my life I'll never get back again.

  1. Can't wait for the sequel: ECW Anarchy Rulz vs A Whole F-Ing Lot Of Guys in a Hate match

  2. Joe sounds like he's bored as all hell reviewing this.

  3. I got this game (and my N64) in about 2004. I was excited to play it... until I actually did. Didn't like the engine for Warzone and Attitude, and don't like it here. Give me WCW vs. the World, World Tour and Revenge any day of the week.

  4. yet, not No Mercy or WrestleMania 2000?

  5. I can't speak for Jawas, but I much preferred the WCW AKI games over the WWF ones. While the extra additions to the controls were certainly appreciated (like being able to switch between front and back grapple with one button) I hated the AI in the WWF games. Plus the WCW games had a much better roster. I'll take Revenge over all the other AKI games combined.

  6. This game is why I sometimes refer to blood in matches as "marinara", because the blood in this game looked just like pasta sauce. And that's not very hardcore.

  7. No Mercy was def hard to beat for the added options, but overall I'd agree that out of the box Revenge was the stongest. NM really had some issues with lag and I missed the little details too, like when you'd taunt in Revenge, your manager would do it too on the outside. No idea why they took cool stuff like that out.

NM had some notable bugs too, aside from the infamous memory wipe that was fixed. You couldn't prevent CPU players from escaping the cage in some situations and CPU controlled create a wrestlers would almost never do their front specials, they'd always whip you into the corner and do the corner special.

  8. With respect to the graphics, I always thought is was weird that NM came out a couple years later, had a smaller roster, but yet the NM graphics were WAY worse than Revenge, and Revenge looked kinda crappy to begin with.

  9. Can you blame him? This game sucked a dozen years ago, it must be an ordeal to play through now. I still don't know how I ever tricked myself into thinking the Acclaim wrestling engine and control scheme were good.

  10. I don't blame Joe, I'm just pointing out how crappy that game was. He can't even get motivated to shit on it, he just wants to move on to the next one.

  11. That had a lot to do with the limitations / expectations of WWE games - they had to cram in Titan Trons, entrance music, etc, when WCW Revenge didn't need or have that.

  12. I don't know, going back to games without running grapples or ground specials feels like going back to the stone ages now.

And any game that mixes Wing Commander and pro wrestling will always win out.
