@KiddWWE - could Swoggle make the cut these days for Cruiserweight division? That's the question

@TheCurtHawkins - Ok, what's worse... being the last cruiserweight champion or being the last "ECW" ? Discuss.

Comment of the Day
TenGermans has the same worries as me in regards to Daniel Bryan. How much more can they job this guy out and expect him to KEEP being over..?:
Daniel Bryan is more over than Kane. He's better on the mic than Kane. When it comes to actual wrestling? No contest. Hell, he's the reason Kane is over right now.
So who on the team is the constant job guy?
Daniel Bryan.
WWE, ladies and gentlemen!

On This Day...
WCW presented Superbrawl V, which pitted Hulk Hogan against Big Van Vader in the main event. Hogan went over via DQ to retain the WCW World Heavyweight Title. (1995)

  1. Makes Ezekiel Jackson the last ECW Champion. Doesn't follow up with it at all until over a year later when he joins the Corre.

  2. Disagree on Bryan - he SHOULD be the job guy on their team. It fits with his gimmick of being the angry little twerp that always THINKS he's right, but can't back it up. If Bryan won a good chunk of the matches, there'd be no point in the team; Bryan is supposed to need Kane, even if Bryan won't admit to needing him.

Of course, as usual, WWE has messed up "Act II" and "Act III", where he goes from the weak link on the team to developing self-confidence and learning to live and compete morally until he surpasses even his own "superior" partner, and instead is now just positioning him as the same annoying little heel (despite realistically being the better worker and talker, and thematically being that one that was supposed to grow and evolve) to feud with Kane for "WM" when it makes infinitely more sense to LET him be the face that the audience wants him to be, but that's a whole other story.

  3. That belt is God awful. There are so many good designs out there, the big W logo is disgusting. Actually it is really simple, a globe, an eagle, maybe a crown, some swirly thingies, perhaps some lions. Any of these belts look better - http://www.wildcatbelts.com/wrestling-belt-gallery.php

  4. Problem is this is the first new WWE Championship during the Mattel Era. I am sure they had some input on this as to what can be done to be able to sell it to kids. And I think that is what the exchangeable circle side plates come into play. I said in another forum I can see Mattel selling blind packs of plate pairs of every superstar for kids to change out on the sides.

  5. Hey Dan, hope all is well. I'm glad you take the time to do this daily, but I don't think any of us would be upset if you skip a day due to real life getting in the way. Either way, keep up the good work.

  6. THAT is their new world title belt? It LOOKS like the RAW set design and I don't mean that favourably.

  8. There are hundreds of designs that could've been better than what they did. However, I'll take almost anything (sans Jeff Hardy's TNA designed belt) over the spinner.

A belt with THAT name looks better than the current and last title. Let that sink in for a few minutes.

  10. I don't agree that Bryan should be the guy that can't back it up. It would be much cooler if he could and different. WWE has done the little/big man relationship a bunch of times and the little guy can never back it up. It's played out.

Agree that they fumbled the rest of the storyline although they're still very entertaining.

  11. Am I the only person thinking the little interchangeable pieces remind me greatly of WMAC masters? Where you'd fill your belt with the icons of your defeated foes, then challenge the champ when you filled it?

  13. They're slowly but surely transforming Bryan into Eugene. I hope one day he'll "reclaim" the YES chants and it will seem like a whole year hasn't passed since they should have strapped the rocket to his bumhole

    ReplyDelete
  14. If I remember correctly, one of the old WWE Title designs (one of Hogan's first) used to have all the names of the former champs listed on the side pieces.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Thanks a lot mate. Appreciate that. Will always do my best to get this done.

    ReplyDelete
  16. The funniest thing is that the WWE Magazine Jerk of the Month belt looks better than several belts in WWE, including the top belt in the company.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Love the new WWE title.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I could see the belt growing on me. ANYTHING is better than that other belt. I also like that the wrestlers will presumably get their own symbols on the side plates as opposed to just a name tag.

The only thing I think is a little weird is that they opted to keep the scribble WW. That's a remnant from the Attitude Era that is starting to look extremely outdated.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Agreed. Love the work. Love the conversations it brings. But we all understand about that pesky little thing called Real Life.

    ReplyDelete
  20. But looks too much like Jeff Hardy's turd of a belt.

  21. Vader vs. Hogan from SuperBrawl V is a fun match. The PPV sucks, but Heenan being drunk is something else.

I love The Shield. Mainly because they dress like 1999 Big Boss Man.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Vader did everything to earn a title shot from becoming #1 contender to including winning the secondary championship....what a novel concept.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yeah. They use that in the WWE magazine.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Not this one:

Is that the Spacely Sprockets Championship?

    ReplyDelete
  25. YES. The scribbled W is ridiculous now. I was assuming they were going to phase it out in favor of the new style W they were using while promoting the network. Apparently it's here to stay.

But, in general, the belt is crap. And maybe I'm lame, but I don't like the idea of stylized plates for each champ. The name plate was fine. Keep the belt unique. Why can't they go back to the winged eagle or the original undisputed title design?

    ReplyDelete
  26. What's really bewildering is that Byran is the one displaying heelish tendencies in the breakup angle despite the fans having made it clear on several ocassions that they don't want Daniel Bryan to be a heel.

The WWE have written the Tag Titles into a corner. Team Hell No have neen so dominant with the scientific wrestling master teaming up with the monster that there is no convincing way to take the titles off of them without some type of screwy shenagians. Even at their most dysfunctional they were more effective than all the other teams combined. You would think the WWE would have the other tag teams plotting to take advantage of their issues to walk their way into a tag title reign but that adds more dimensions to a storyline than the WWE could handle at once.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Just went and looked that new symbol up. I totally agree. It's a perfect modernization of the old logo.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The Shield are credible enough to take those titles. You'd probably have to have some misscommunication between Bryan and Kane, but that fits into their story.

    ReplyDelete
  29. WHAT A MANEUVER!

    Oh, wrong company.....nevermind

    ReplyDelete
  30. The new belt is better than the spinner. Baby steps.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Scott, you should wrestle one day, as 'Canadian Hacksaw' Keith Scottington. Your shout of 'EHHHHHHHHH!' makes the crowd chant back 'Alberta!' And you always carry your board of doom to the ring, to intimidate your foes.

  32. I've really grown to respect DDP. Guy is doing things on his terms and making it work. Yoga?? And he's trying to help his fellow wrestlers. Seems like a good guy.

    ReplyDelete
  33. that belt is HIDEOUS!

    ReplyDelete
  34. His finishing move: the one point stance. Because of the rouge! Get it?

    You don't get it.

  38. fucking awesome

  39. I friggin' LOVED that show!

I couldn't believe they cancelled it when they did - Tsunami joining the "Jukido" was EXACTLY like Hulk Hogan joining the "nWo"! How could they leave me hanging like that?? Why would Tsunami do such a thing??

    ReplyDelete
  40. That is the nicest belt I've seen in a LONG time.

    ReplyDelete
  41. If he can sober up Jake Roberts and Scott Hall, I want to see if he can REALLY work miracles and do something with Tammy Sytch.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yes the Shield does have the credible but then you will run into the same problem as Hell No, who could credibly beat them?
