Scott Hall's first message since arrival in Atlanta (WrestlingInc.com)
"We took the video down because we wanted Scott to see it," Page admitted to me during a phone call this morning. "Scott has said to me that he's 'a low tech redneck' and doesn't get on the internet, and he thought this would show him in a bad light. Once he got here, he saw how it could inspire people, and how we're all about being positive."

Comment of the Day
This one goes to Mrh610. Funny cos it's true:
Updated story states DUI and possession of marijuana. Goodbye Wrestlemania World Championship match, hello Jack Wagger: Leader of Aces and Eights!

On This Day...
WCW presented Superbrawl '99, headlined by, ahem, Hulk Hogan Vs. Ric Flair. Scott Hall also faced Roddy Piper in a winning effort for the US Title.

    Pleeeeeeeeeeease!

  2. Maybe. But maybe it was also an appreciation thing from the company and the wrestlers, too. Yeah, Koko was a jobber but he also made a lot of guys look good or got the crowds hot as an opening act.

I know people want the WWE Hall of Fame to be a forum for the all-time greats but you can't compare it to a legit sports Hall of Fame. If anything, it's akin to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And you could definitely find some fault with some of the selections on that "hallowed" pavement.

    Laszlo Panaflex!

  3. I though Rock vs. Lesnar was being looked at for Summerslam? I could be wrong, though...

    ReplyDelete
  4. I know it's probably not going to happen but I desperately want a Rock heel turn. He's grating as the smiley face he's now and as a good guy, he was just a whole lot more fun as an arrogant dickhead (like in the Rock N' Sock Connection).

  5. Depending on availability/dates for Rock and Lesnar, it does -- if they're willing to think about it -- open up more possibilities.

  6. Superbrawl 99 was the first live event I went to. The 12 year old me had a blast. I'd probably have to have copious amounts of beer now to enjoy that show.

  7. Dear God, Superbrawl 99! Is this one of the worst double turns in history?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I still play CollegeHoops 2k8. It's that good.

  9. Idk flair, DDP was white hot 97-99. Only reason he wasnt a champ sooner imo is bc of Hogan. He was one of the few (if not the only) who could get a reasonable match out of Goldberg, and dare I say there Clash at HH 98 was great? He elevated the US title at the time to heights not seen since prob. the days of Rude. Also think he didnt turn into a dependable worker till his late 30's, and that was only because he busted his ass. If Koko B Ware and other mid card acts have gotten in the hall, why not DDP?? His pop was the biggest over the summer when Slater was doing his legends thing too.
    PS.
    Lets go HEAT BABY!

  10. During the Attitude Era, DDP was one of the most talked about wrestlers in WCW outside of Hogan, Savage, Goldberg, Nash, and Flair. He was incredibly popular. 3 time WCW Champion, and he made the Cutter famous, and used it some incredibly innovative ways. Had he not used the Diamond Cutter, I can almost guarantee Randy Orton wouldn't be using the RKO

  11. This is EXACTLY how I've been since Henry's return. When Swagger won the EC I was crushed. Now my hopes are up once again.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Page deserves to be in regardless. A multiple time world champion, US champ, tv champ...yada yada. Key player in the nWo angle, feud of the year vs. Savage, nailed Kimberly...his resume speaks for itself.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm disappointed that the next game isn't WWE 2K14.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I thought it was SummerFest?

    ReplyDelete
  15. This wasn't really the 'double turn' match, that was the cage match at Uncensored. This is probably the match that set the stage for it though, with Hogan getting pops for his Hulk Up routine and convincing someone that he could draw on top again.

  16. Damn HHH has had some ugly ass shirts. Favorite one is still the "Game Over? You're damn right I'm over" shirt.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I wouldn't be surprised if they turn him, especially with him facing Cena. They really should just for business purposes, face/heel always draws better than face/face. Last thing you want is people saying "I don't care who wins, I like both of them."

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm holding my breath on the Scott Hall and Jake Roberts recovery. I'm hopeful but remember these guys have been reliant on this stuff for years. I'm hopeful though. That E60 on Scott Hall got me misty eyed.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Any chance they make this part of an angle with Swagger? he is a heel after all...this would make him look like a hypocrite, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Prepare to be re-crushed. WWE doesn't turn on a dime for anybody. All this does is assure the result of said Swagger/Del Rio match.

    ReplyDelete
  21. God forbid they actually go in this direction, if they're determined to keep Del Rio, then should totally rip off the template of the Flair vs Vader Starrcade match (another hastily thrown together world title match on the biggest show of the year)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Probably just me, but I'd LOVE to hear Swagger accuse "that dirty Mexican" Del Rio of planting the pot.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I agree, DDP is far from a "bonafide" HOF. He does deserve to be in over the likes of Koko B Ware but he doesnt belong in either.

I do commend DDP for being able to get over and do some stuff after starting out so late.

    ReplyDelete
  24. That was his last good shirt. That Jean/Leather jacket thing looked dumb too.

    ReplyDelete
  25. The AWA ripoff shirt was pretty cool. It seems like his last few were marketed towards NBA fans like the purple and yellow and the green and white.
