Hogan v. Rude

Hi Scott,

This might be the only televised one-on-one match between both wrestlers. This looks like a it took place at the Boston Garden in 1987.

Hulk Hogan vs Ravishing Rick Rude-WWF Title by TSteck160

Pretty sure I reviewed this one on a Coliseum Video rant, but yeah, they only had a very few matches because they had heat or something.  Maybe Rude airbrushed Brooke onto his tights and Hogan got jealous, one never knows.

  1. There's a Hogan/Rude match from Boston on the Hogan unreleased archives DVD from 2009/2010. Not sure if it's this one since it won't load in my browser.

Not a bad match actually. Rude looks fucking JACKED too. Even more so then he usually did.

Well, Rude did spend some time in Memphis, so he had Lawler as a "role model."

I can't remember who's book it was in (Flair's?) but they said Rude hated Hogan and wouldn't work with him because Hogan wouldn't give him a run on top in the WWF.

  6. Rude vs. Hogan could've been money. Porn star mustaches COLLIDE!

  7. Its a shame we never got a proper Rude-Savage feud over Elizabeth during their primes. Rude could have ridden that to the top

  8. He sure was a hottie!

  9. You do not want to see what book I am reviewing tomorrow then.

  10. Nothing special as far as wrestling goes, but that was some fine working the crowd, especially the whole arm wrestling thing. Gorilla and Jimmy Hart on commentary was pretty funny too.

  11. Did Jimmy Hart write Real American for Rick Springfield?

  12. When would have Hogan worked with Rude? 1990? That's the only time it would have worked, and been credible.

  13. Brooke wasn't even born when this match happened.

  14. God Lawlers book sucks. Backstage stuff from 70s and 80s Memphis would be awesome. But no its about his sexlife.

  15. Um...1988, when this match took place, obviously. It worked better for Rude in the long run that he didn't go the route of 'come in, get some squash wins, do the loop with Hogan, move down the card, leave' but that's probably what he wanted since Hogan was where the money was.

  16. I'm having trouble in Chrome. Had to use IE which seems fine.

  17. Rick Derringer wrote it for Rick Springfield?

  18. It's too bad Rude got hurt before Hogan came in to WCW, because that would've been a really interesting match had they been able to work together. Dangerous Alliance-era Rude was fucking awesome, and was one of the best heels in the business by that point.

  19. Rude is a dude you can make a reference to around non fans and they know who you are talking about and think he's awesome.

  20. Given Savage's proclivity for jealousy (or so I've heard) when it came to Elizabeth, that probably wouldn't have gone over too well, but it would have been a helluva feud. I would have preferred to see Savage-Rude for the title over the circuits of Andre, DiBiase, One Man Gang and Bad News Brown that ran for the year until Hogan won the strap at WMV.

  21. It's hard to find who actually wrote the song. I've read varying reports in my googling whether it was Derringer or Hart on his own, or if Hart simply assisted Derringer. However, no googling required that Derringer performed the iconic tune.

  22. I had a thread about that a couple of months ago and didn't seem like some of the blog was down with it.

Rude-Savage had a short interaction in Memphis and there's a wild Savage/Lawler vs. Rude/Bundy match easily available on YouTube.
