Podcast Plug with ME

http://www.shiningwizards.com/

So I did an hour-long interview with the Shining Wizards podcast tonight, and it was a lot of fun!  Tony really knew his history of my online career and we talked about everything from RSPW to today's product and what would happen if the current brain surgeons were trying to book Flair v. Steamboat in 1989.  Definitely something I'd do again if I was asked.

I even bought a Box of Wizardry.  I'm a good guy that way.  Check it out a bit later when the show is up!

  1. Someday, someway, Podcast of Doom will happen.

  2. I'll check this out at work when it's up.

I also request that Scott do a podcast on the historical and cinematic significance of Big Trouble in Little China.

  3. listening now. I'll rant on it later.

  4. Awesome interview, Scott. I think this is the first time I've heard your voice--for some reason I was not expecting a super educated, NPR type voice. I was expecting a more sarcasm-laden voice.

Anyway, it was a very cool segment, and I learned a bunch along the way.

  5. Vodcast of DOOM should be happening now. It'd just be a video of Scott watching Raw and watching his live reactions. Instant YouTube hit.

  6. Very good interview, Scott. And thanks for doing the interview for what happens to be a pretty cool site. The Raven interview also deserves a recommendation.

  7. Dude, if you have any idea on how we could get something started, I'll pour whatever money & resources I can into helping. That's my absolute dream, to be doing a podcast/radio show, just like my beloved hero Adam Carolla. I have a degree in audio engineering, so I'm hip to the game already. Of course, not that we'd need giant mixing boards, or a reverb station, but it saying I have a degree sounds good..

I've thought about doing it myself, however one needs a partner to work off of.

  8. Yeah, fun interview. It's an interesting bit reading about the mid-90s Bret Hart thing. I didn't realize there was a backlash on him at the time- I didn't get into the online wrestling stuff until later. The history lesson in general was fascinating because of all the random names that have disappeared over time, especially the bit about how big Herb Kunze was back in the day (I only discovered him years after he was basically done- he came out with one or two new Tidbits and was done when I found his site).

It also reminds me of the fans back in the day who would ONLY cheer for stuff that had good workers in it. Like every single match HAD TO be won by the better worker, or else we'd all pout and rage about it. It's funny because today, even the online fans are more interested in the angles & stuff making sense, with much less complaining about good workers losing (unless they do it WAY too much).

  9. I guess the higher emphasis on angles etc. results from the buildups etc. getting worse and worse.

for example: several years ago it was just the usual thing for the WWF and the WCW treating their titles (and the title holders) at least as some kind of big deal.

  10. Id google around on how to mix online audio but any podcast I've done has always been through Skype.

  11. Can't wait for this one. Also hoping Scott hits up The Place to Be Podcast in the near future too.

  12. If we can figure out a Skyping situation i'd be in, for sure. I imagine there are freeware audio mixers you can download to process it. All it'd probably take is us having mics. You, me, Scott, and maybe a rotating guest Doom Buggy. It'd be the shit.

  13. From the sounds of it during the interview, doing a podcast is something he tried but just couldn't make it sound right. Plus I think he's too busy. So, if you and I were to host, I think we could get Scott it for quite a few guest spots when he gets the time.

  14. And I also think the average work-rate getting better.

Love him or hate him, but Cena's workrate is far superior to Hogan or Nash or Goldberg.

I love Adam Carolla. I only know him from guest spots on the BS Report, and I can listen to him talk for hours.

  16. As soon as we can work out the schedule I'm there.

    ReplyDelete
  17. It would mostly be me rolling my eyes and reading comic book websites in between the matches.

    ReplyDelete
  18. If you guys can make it happen to where I don't have to do the technical end of it and can find a way to make it work with my annoying schedule, I'm all for the idea. I absolutely need someone else to lead the conversation and play off because otherwise it'll crash and burn after five minutes.

  19. Yeah, there's nowhere near the amount of bad "brawl-happy" workers there were in the Attitude Era, and far fewer stall-fests and matches full of restholds and generic power stuff as the 80s stuff.

  20. If you're getting 10,000 views a week, you'd get away with that.
