WWE To Team Up With The Flintstones For DVD Movie

- It was announced today, via press release, that WWE & Warner Bros are teaming up for a new Flintstones film that will be released in 2015. The film, which is expected to be straight to DVD, is described as follows…

Fred, Barney and the whole Bedrock gang join up with Vince McMagma (Vince McMahon), and WWE Superstars and Divas including John Cenastone (John Cena®) and CM Punkrock (CM Punk®) as part of the very first WWE main event.

Michael Luisi, President, WWE Studios had the following to say about the project….

"WWE is family-friendly entertainment, so partnering with Warner Bros. on a Flintstones/WWE project was a natural extension of our Scooby Doo deal. This new, animated feature allows us to showcase our brand with young fans and loyal Flintstones enthusiasts alike."

I'm a big fan of both WWE and the Flintstones, so this sounds awesome.

  5. I fully expect a background HHH cameo at the rock quarry, using ol' sledgie.

  6. Not to be a dick, but why? I doubt I'll go out of my way to see this, but it seems harmless enough.

  7. vaguely amazed punk's in this. unless he just signs off and someone else voices him. I wonder if his contract with this states how many massive eyerolls they throw in?

    ReplyDelete
  8. This leads to the important question of... how did losers like Fred and Barney pull top shelf ass like Wilma and Betty? I WANT TO KNOW HOW DAMN IT!!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Maybe they promised CM Punkrock the title.

    ReplyDelete
  10. he'll be best in the quarry, that's for sure.

  12. Not until 2015, huh? John Cena is going to be on top for another two years. =(

    ReplyDelete
  13. Anyway possible both Scrappy and Miz can go the way of Old Yeller?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Is it wrong I really want to see this movie? CM Punkrock, awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  15. After the Fruity Pebbles crossover, how was this NOT going to happen?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Nah, I see what you mean. I feel the same way sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  17. What I want to know is how in the world Ryback isn't in this.

The dude already comes across like a Bedrock native.

    ReplyDelete
  18. You're right. I just don't like this type of cross promotion. I just wish they would concentrate on making older Fans like myself enjoy the product.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Why do you hate it so much? It seems like something stupid and fun for the kiddies and who knows, may have a couple of funny bits for us adults. I doubt it'll interfere with RAW save for showing a bunch of commercials for the movie. I don't know how old you are but as a kid I loved Hulk Hogans Rock and Wrestling. So I can't be too pissed about kids today getting a WWE type themed cartoon.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I get what you are saying. As an older fan, I feel left out.

    ReplyDelete
  21. The Rock n' Wrestling era has officially returned.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It's about time Warner Brothers realize there are other characters in the Hanna Barbara library besides Scooby-Doo and Tom and Jerry. And most importantly, Seth Macfarlane is not involved in any way, shape, or form.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Can we get a Bedrock Brawl match at the next PPV?

2:1 odds Santino will dress as a Flintstone.

  24. Joel Gertner said years ago that people called him Fred Flintstone.

  25. Personally, I'm looking forward to the Best of MSG DVD coming out soon. WWE usually puts out some good stuff on home video. Outside of the poor product they produce now, I think they do a pretty good job of creating content for old timers like us.

  26. Threadjack! Although, if this is true, it is entirely appropriate to put it here:

"WWE continues being the world leader in use of new technology.

This Monday night on RAW, John Cena and Ryback will engage in the first ever Tout Debate. RAW will kick off with Jerry "The King" Lawler in the ring acting as moderator. The King will Tout the opening question live in the ring in front of the entire WWE Universe. Throughout the night, Ryback and Cena will have two minutes each to tout answers to King's question. A short time later, they will have 30 seconds each to respond to each other's Touts. This will occur three times throughout the night, with King touting a question live in the ring each time. The WWE Universe will be able to Tout their own responses to Cena and Ryback's answers. Some of these may even be shown on the air.

The fourth and final segment of the debate will take place in the ring. However, members of the WWE Universe have no reason to feel left out. With use of the WWE App, the WWE Universe will vote on the final debate question.

Come join WWE as they continue finding new ways to utilize this technology!

  27. Got to love how WWE claims to continue finding new ways to utilize Tout.
So not mentioning it at all for the last two months is a new way to utilize Tout?

  30. I would buy all Ryback's merchandise if his rebuttal is beating Cena with a lectern.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Seriously, these clowns better stay away from the Jetsons. That show was great.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Tune into the Flinstones in Viva Rock Vegas to find out!

  33. Oh great, more Raw Roulette.

Oh man, I can't WAIT for the Monday Night Open Mic on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Godalmighty.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I have a distinct feeling Ryback's Rebuttals (now THAT should be a segment by itself - imagine the hilarity of Ryback answering his critics for eating too much) will be compared to Scott Steiner vs. Test. That alone might be worth .7 Jake on the Screwed-Up Interview scale.

    ReplyDelete
  37. A couple of things I bet we see in this movie:

    1) HHHStone uses one of Mr. Slate's quarry pits to bury new talent.
    2) Mr. Slate goes to tell Fred, "Flintstone, YOU'RE FIR-" "WAIT! WAIT! WAIT" interjects Mr. McMagma. "Youre doing it all wrong - allow me to show you. FLINTSTONE, YOURRRRRRRRE FIRRRRRREEEEDDDD!"

And, oh, BTW, what would they call The Rock? The Rockrock?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Cenastone's t-shirt will say RISE ABOVE SLATE.
    *cough*

    ReplyDelete
  39. You joke. But it probably will.

    ReplyDelete
  40. "RECORD RATINGS, HERE WE COME!"

(Says no one with a brain.)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'll take things that embarrass you in wrestling for $500.

    ReplyDelete
  42. It's too bad he won't just refuse to participate, screaming for Cena to just fight like a man. Why is the vengeful psychopath using his iPhone to issue threats? I thought they were going in the right direction with the ambulances.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Because when I want to show someone how much of a badass I am, I use my iPhone and the new WWE app! Screw that noise of steel chairs and kendo sticks!

    ReplyDelete
  44. AJ Gravels?
    Stonemoa Joe?
    Austone Aries?

    ReplyDelete
  45. I thought Seth McFarland had the rights to the Flintstones.

    ReplyDelete
  46. If he does....we have to kill him. For the benefit of animators, and all their fans.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Which reminds me, we need another debate involving Scott Steiner. The wrestling world has been without one for too long.

    ReplyDelete
  48. That era had Orton, Snuka, DiBiase and Neidhart.

    Wait...

    ReplyDelete
  49. If they could set up a Scott Steiner v. Ultimate Warrior Tout debate on a PPV, I'd buy it.

Yeah, not only are they doing things like this for the kiddies, they have to keep their own product kiddie friendly so they get the opportunity to do things like things like this for the kiddies.

  52. It was the olden days, you just clubbed a dame on the back of her head and dragged her back to the cave. The better question (if you remember the 1994 movie and SNL Waynes World), who's bright idea was it to have the #7 babe of all time played by Rosie O'Donnell?

    ReplyDelete
  53. As much hate as the movie gets, I was happy to see that they acknowledged how much everyone hated Scrappy Doo.

    ReplyDelete
  54. CM Punk is totally cool with the completely stupid wrestling kid shit.

Yeah he's pretty into kayfabe, but he's always been cool with kid fans, I think the only fans he doesn't dig are the crazed rednecks and the super smarks who'd call him Phil and stuff. I expect him to heel it up to all hell.

    ReplyDelete
  55. That's been indefinitely delayed due to his schedule.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Plus, he seems like the type who would get a kick out of being in a Flintstones cartoon.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I hope someone invents a time machine to pull 1993 Jerry Lawler into today's WWE universe so he can crack some jokes about how Stu and Helen Hart should be in the movie too

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yeah, he's pretty dorky.

People are taking this way too seriously. Who is this harming?

    ReplyDelete
  59. and all the women later regretted it.

Ironically enough, The Rock will be called The Stone. And Stone Cold will be Rock Cold Steve Austone. It's all a rich tapestry.

  61. Hate on his style all you want but looking at the few times he's done Fred's voice, he has it down pat.

    ReplyDelete
  62. FunFact - Mae Young dated Fred Flintstone before he met Wilma.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Hogan used to have the perfect name:
    Terry Boulder

    ReplyDelete
  64. Why don't they just have Cena and Ryback play each other in WWE '13, then they could upload it to youtube under the title "WWE RAW 6/3/13 full show" and beat all the youtube kiddies to the punch

    ReplyDelete
  65. This has wrestlecrap written all over it. I look forward too the trainwreck!
