Monday Night Open Mic

Of course I opt not see the PPV because I was convinced it was just a transitional one for Hell in the Cell. Even if I didn't like the booking (and obviously the apparent lack of crowd response after Bryan's victory proves that they may have overthought this one a little bit) I like the idea of switching things up a little and catching everyone off guard.

I will say that there have been some positives from this last month of booking and none more than Randy Orton's workrate in the last couple of weeks. The matches he's had on TV have been tremendous. He seems really comfortable in what he's able to do in the ring right now and as a fan I appreciate good wrestling above all else.

BTW have we figured out the right way to move the title to Brock so that Wrestlemania can have Brock-Punk II as a main event?

Nothing else for me to say, enjoy the show and come out swinging but try to keep it clean.

Comments

  1. I can't wait for RAW to start. Because then it means there's only four hours left until I pick up GTAV.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Have you seen the IGN review? This game is next level

    ReplyDelete
  3. And that is the crux of the problem.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Any time you have fans hesitant to cheer for the face winning the title b/c they're waiting for a dusty finish at the hands of some ridiculous authority figure you have a problem.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Exactly.

At "Summerslam", the audience realized that something was amiss with Bryan's celebration, and were waiting for the other shoe to drop. The same thing happened last night. Even if Trips had merely stood on the stage and shook his head disapprovingly, it would have served as a visual cue that it was okay to bask in the celebration.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I ordered mine through Amazon. I wanted to get the Special Edition version they had, but they sold out.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I'm getting it in half an hour.

Living in the UK sometimes has its benefits...

    ReplyDelete
  8. Cucch replied to the blogs venomous comments on his book review. Im not sure if hes being facetious, trolling us, or just telling us to "fuck off," or being sincere.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I havent played a video game in 3 years and my PS3 just collects dust. However, im seriously considering getting it.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Apparently, Amazon shipped the games out to arrive today here in the UK.

They're now in quite a bit of trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Sounds like the crowd was dead all night. Who knew that Axel / Kofi and a typical Divas clusterfuck cool a crowd? Other than almost anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  12. If I had time for GTA V I would consider getting it. I really don't play games much anymore and use my PS3 for Netflix and Blu-Ray

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yea. I had 4 and actually real liked it as far as videogames go. If Vince didnt absolutely steal my money last night with the ppv id be more likely to spend the money.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I really do think he was being sincere and offering and apology/explanation for the review.

    ReplyDelete
  15. The Ghostbusters icon makes reading that comment fun

    ReplyDelete
  16. I thought it was Battleground -> HitC -> Survivor Series?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Meltzer said the show is a lot of talking, which sucks because if I were HHH and I didn't like my champion I'd make him wrestle A BUNCH OF TIMES TONIGHT.

    ReplyDelete
  18. And the Monday Night Football game is going to be an abortion, so there might be an uptick in viewers tonight (I or one will be watching Raw instead of the Steelers...).

    ReplyDelete
  19. They must really think the fans are dumb if they expected them to pop huge for the title win without thinking that something else was coming up after that fast count.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Here's your King of the Ring review:

    King of the Ring 1995
    LIVE from Philadelaphia, PA.

    This show SUCKS DICK.

    -fin-

    ReplyDelete
  21. Correct. But the focus now is Battleground, not HitC.

    ReplyDelete
  22. He has. Or at least he told me

    ReplyDelete
  23. It's almost worse if it sticks, because then Bryan never got his big huge win to triumph over evil... it will always be, "well you won thanks for a referee's mistake" when HHH and Orton do their promos.

They also need to play up that running knee finisher better, because even before the fast count, I don't think the fans were ready for that to be the finish. They need to give it a name, and also have Bryan talk about it in promos on how he beat John Cena with it, how it's a move to be feared, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  24. "Sucks dick" is an extraordinarily generous assessment.

    ReplyDelete
  25. My theory is he doesn't take it as seriously as others on this blog have. He just let the venom slide off his back. Normally on his reviews, while I don't think he's great, I still get the feeling he's really trying. But with the DX review I didn't see that at all. He admits to that and is just taking his medicine so to speak. Good on him for not having a meltdown or cursing us out. I do hope, the few of us who offered constructive critism, he takes it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. He had a hilarious meltdown in a 24 thread he put a while ago. But since only like 5 people read his shit, only me and flair noticed it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. This show could be three hours of HHH dropping a hot thrice in the middle of the ring. I couldn't give a soaring shit.

GTA V means I'm impervious to WWE booking.

    ReplyDelete
  28. This whole angle SCREAMED for Daniel Bryan to get screwed last night and next month until he could finally get Orton in a fair fight in the Cell.

    ReplyDelete
  29. His matches with Tanaka are amazing. I mean, in hindsight, maybe not the best idea, but still spectacular.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Here's the text teasing tonight's show:

Daniel Bryan has the WWE title, while Stephanie McMahon has a "business propostion" for Dusty Rhodes.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yeah, this is the problem with the heel authority screwjob. The fans were waiting for the fuck finish, leading to a reaction that wasn't nearly as huge as it should have been.

(Also, even though I wholeheartedly approve of WWE Champion Daniel Bryan, this felt too soon. I'd have gone to Survivor Series at least, with interim challengers in between)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Muffler check?

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'd hate to accuse Steph of being a ho, but it's been suggested so many times already.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Also, they spelled it wrong. This is Big Dust. It's a "Bidneth propositionnnnnn."

    If you will.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I, for one, am all for more heel turns on this blog.

Hell, we've gotten face turns. Might as well.

    ReplyDelete
  36. TEASE! Id love to have seen it. I liked Caliber but his "cracked meltdown" is like urban legend around here. I spent like an hour looking for it a few weeks ago but to no avail.

    ReplyDelete
  37. He be comin' to the pah window on the muthaship!

    ReplyDelete
  38. While ridin' a bithcycle!

    ReplyDelete
  39. EL DANDY! PLUNDAH!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I remember being shocked at how..inoffensive that Snooki match was. It was like "Oh, well, that was...something. Okay, moving on"

    ReplyDelete
  41. It's not wrestling related, but Breaking Bad last night though.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Flair asked me about GoT and he went crazy because he threadjacked. It was so random.

    ReplyDelete
  43. PLUNDARIN TONY! THEY BE PLUNDARIN!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Real talk.

I'm beginning to question if my heart can withstand seeing the rest of this series through.

    ReplyDelete
  45. IT'S CLUBBERING TIME!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Everybody loves a good meltdown though, dating back to the halcyon days of MRoberts21, Charlie Reneke, and Elvy. It was like a regular Heroes of Wrestling back then.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yeah, at least *someone* gets enjoyment from that.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Are yo the person Caliber would always argue big bang theory with? Ive become more of a fan after initially being lukewarm on it and I think it's because I enjoy the female characters sooooo much more then the male ones. Melissa Rauuch has at least two lines an episode that get me to laugh out loud. Her and the blossom chick are the two consistently funniest on the show.

Random subject change but am watching it so had our on the brain.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Wait, they're squishing 4 ppvs in the next two months???

    ReplyDelete
  50. Alright, so I ask only because I'm not sure I even know the answer myself.

What IS the best case scenario for the Bryan angle tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  51. HHH gets in a car accident on the way to the arena.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yes. I'm the one who would always argue Big Bang (and How I Met) with Caliber

    ReplyDelete
  53. But the trade the title back and forth numerous times until you have one final match to determine a definitive winner angle isn't bad either.

    ReplyDelete
  54. DO IT!

There's only 2 left, you fucking have to.

    ReplyDelete
  55. That is random. If we didnt get one on the DX thread, im not holding out much hope

    ReplyDelete
  56. Didn't he get dropped 50 feet in a car once, only to show up just fine on RAW the following night?

    ReplyDelete
  57. I knew that sitting on my response would be the right idea.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Even if I wasn't physically able, I'd still have to for work.

But last night's episode entered the show into the pantheon if it hadn't been already. That was downright Shakespearean.

    ReplyDelete
  59. The next night? That's preposterous.

    It was, like... two weeks!

    ReplyDelete
  60. tna is considering taken impact back off the road

    http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/297675/TNA-Taking-Impact-Off-The-Road?.htm

    EVERYTHING IS FINE

    ReplyDelete
  61. never watched it

    ReplyDelete
  62. Be careful. The downvoters seem to have created accounts now.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I rewatch 02-03 PPVs and RAWs because it's all I have on tape and I like background noise.

DO NOT DOWNVOTE THIS MAN, he speaks truth.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Shane O Mac rides in on a unicorn just as HHH is about to overturn the title change and keepa the belt on Bryan.

    ReplyDelete
  65. You know what I just realised? Where was Damien Sandow last night when ADR was KO from a Van Terminator? Not exactly intellectual saviour behaviour

    ReplyDelete
  66. I really need to change my avatar to a picture less downvotable.

Also, I guess I should probably stop being smarmy at some point? I don't know.

    ReplyDelete
  67. The way Shane looks now he might crush the unicorn.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I think I would rather take a shot in the mouth than watch that show again. At least it'll be faster, hopefully.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Breaking Bad is the greatest drama of all time after last night.

I don't see how anyone can still carry the flag for The Wire or Sopranos.

    ReplyDelete
  70. In this thread it may just be Jesse Baker having another tantrum.

    ReplyDelete
  71. i would like to see a cabspaintedblue appear and the two of you would feud until armageddon, at which point cabspaintedgreen appears

    not unlike the skeksis

    ReplyDelete
  72. I doubt more than one or two of them would "sully" themselves by coming into a WWE Raw thread.

It's more dangerous when the posts are much less frequent.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Fits in with the rest of the booking.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I'm all for sending our esteemed Commander-in-Chief a challenging review. So KOTR 95 or New Blood Rising. I'm a sadist. Or a masochist. Or a sado-masochist. Or a wierdo.

    ReplyDelete
  75. It'll be like The Death of Superman arc or something. Except centered around a guy in terrible shape with no superpowers.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Getting both Bella twins.

    ReplyDelete
  77. You're not looking at the big picture.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I'm expecting a Bryan-Orton rematch, only with a wagonful of pancakes.

    ReplyDelete
  79. They created new plates for Bryan's title. Looks like it's sticking for now.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Regardless, he no-sold death. One of the reasons I love him.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Dragons? That would be cool.

    ReplyDelete
  82. So Ryback is a Paul Heyman guy?

    ReplyDelete
  83. On the bright side, DB is a two-time, two time champion.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Sooo....over/under on retroactive Dusty finish?

    ReplyDelete
  85. I love Breaking Bad, and I think it's awesome....

BUT SONS OF ANARCHY IS EVEN MORE AWESOME.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Well, at least the sideplates aren't goat heads.

    ReplyDelete
  87. "They are literally hanging from the rafters here!"
"Hey, Monsoon! It's almost time for Grand Theft Auto!"
"That is a popular video game."
"Video game?! I was talking about how I thought I saw Sheamus backstage."
    "WILL YOU STOP?!"

    ReplyDelete
  88. not jobbing to HHH's theme music?

    ReplyDelete
  89. That IS a less downvotable pic.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Sounds about right.

Fuck, I wish I wasn't so jaded about it. The win at SS felt SO GOOD in comparison...right up until the Pedigree.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Figured it'd be before Bryan got a word out. I would've lost that one.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Am I the only one getting sick of "Yes"?

    ReplyDelete
  93. Clearly you meant 12 seconds.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Nope. He only sold the last one for two weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  95. And here comes the Dusty finish

    ReplyDelete
  96. Better "yes" than "what".

    ReplyDelete
  97. You are definitely just smarmy enough.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Picture a friend drew yesterday, WWE related: http://i.imgur.com/8OWZW6T.jpg

    ReplyDelete
  99. The refs have names?

    ReplyDelete
  100. "the talent". that might be a new one?

    ReplyDelete
  101. I have no problem with the Dusty finish here. It makes sense in the angle.

    ReplyDelete
  102. HHH: One half of the greatest tag team champions of ALL time!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Still is a stupid angle.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Here's a big fuck you to the 20 people who actually bought Night of Champions last night.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Still not as bad as paying for Punk vs. Benoit in 07.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Could have sworn they were going to get right to the shoddy officiating in the Divas match.

    ReplyDelete
  107. So stupid, if he gave a shit, he'd have come out last night

    ReplyDelete
  108. That's awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  109. It's always this guy that's getting in some shit.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Scott Armstrong is going to get downgraded for this. I don't think this officiating crew is going to see much action outside of the occasional number 1 tag team contenders match.

    ReplyDelete
  111. ...meanwhile Orton's still unconscious...if they really wanted to Dusty it, should have done it on a roll up instead of Bryan's new Cena-killer

    ReplyDelete
  112. Everyone seems to know what's coming, it's still going to take 20+ minutes though.

    ReplyDelete
  113. What should have happened is Bryan should have been 4th and 2 instead of getting a chance to replay 3rd and 6.

    ReplyDelete
  114. If HHH say cadence one more time...

    ReplyDelete
  115. Someone should tell HHH to go watch some baseball. Worse errors than that happen every other day it seems.

    ReplyDelete
  116. WWE : your "bad ref" angle is a whole year fucking late.

    ReplyDelete
  117. This would be better if there was no fast count and HHH was just speeding up the footage.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Hell, just direct him to CJ Ross' scorecard for Mayweather-Alvarez.

    ReplyDelete
  119. "It was a fast count. I don't know." There you have it folks.

    ReplyDelete
  120. They did do something last year with a bad count that lead to creation of Raw General Manager Brad Maddox.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Can't they just say HHH paid him off to count fast and keep the belt on Orton and move on?

    ReplyDelete
  122. Scott Armstrong, you have no respect for THIS CADENCE.

    ReplyDelete
  123. "Hey Hunter... what do NFL quarterbacks mess with to draw the defense offside? It's not tone... not pace... something like that though..."

    ReplyDelete
  124. Who do you think HHH is? The Million Dollar Man?

    ReplyDelete
  125. I swear, you think there will be a riot in the arena if they go through with this bullshit?

    ReplyDelete
  126. HHH, King of Kings, cerebral assassin, and THE BEST DAMN LAWYER SINCE MATLOCK!

    ReplyDelete
  127. Scott Amstrong has been in the WWE for 15 years? Wouldn't that put him there at about 1998?

    ReplyDelete
  128. True. I was thinking of anything involving Angel Hernandez.

    ReplyDelete
  129. ....whelp, I don't think I could have come up with a worse way to handle this

    ReplyDelete
  130. Really? This is what we're going to do?

    (sigh)

    ReplyDelete
  131. Triple H got Road Dogg to go through plastic surgery to look like his brother!

    ReplyDelete
  132. No further questions. I said no further questions!

    ReplyDelete
  133. DB paying off the ref to out-screw the Corporation? Nice twist if that's where it's going.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Boy look at this angle focusing on gettting Danial Bryan over.

    ReplyDelete
  135. This is an ... interesting take on the Dusty finish, you have to give them that.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Did Hunter borrow a thesaurus from Damien Sandow?

    ReplyDelete
  137. SO WHY EVEN HAVE HIM WIN LAST NIGHT?

    ReplyDelete
  138. Ha 11 minutes!!!

    ReplyDelete
  139. Historically, vacated titles tend to lead to new HHH title reigns.

    ReplyDelete
  140. just fucking whack him with the damn belt.

    er...title.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Hey, what's Cena doing at this moment? http://www.kayfabenews.com/make-a-wish-foundation-sends-cena-to-visit-dying-tna/

    ReplyDelete
  142. Abeyance? No one AND THE ROCK MEANS NO ONE in the entire arena knows what that word means.

    ReplyDelete
  143. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

to anyone who thought last night's decision would stand.

    ReplyDelete
  144. It was Kevin Nash obviously. No matter if it was a phone call, a text, a IM, or snail mail. It's NASH!

    ReplyDelete
  145. Was close saying 12!

    ReplyDelete
  146. he may as well come out to the Beethoven theme music if he's gonna start using words like cadence so many times each promo...

    ReplyDelete
  147. Right the first time, fuck those idiots.

    ReplyDelete
  148. This angle makes no sense! Why would Triple H pay off the ref to frame the babyface instead of just screwing him?

    ReplyDelete
  149. You know who gets over on Dusty finishes? NO ONE.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Nah, wasn't standing, but sooooo stupid how they're doing it

    ReplyDelete
  151. No, it's the boss not wanting Bryan to have the title saying that DB was conspiring with the ref even though he wasn't.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Triple H needs to leave with the belt. His planet needs him.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Is that the first time they've referenced Bryan being mentored by Shawn?

    ReplyDelete
  154. (Triple H died on the way back to his planet.)

    ReplyDelete
  155. But they made new sideplates!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  156. Yeah, it's clear Bryan is getting screwed by the ref, he had no idea there would be a fast count.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Did he just say "WWE Championship BELT?"

    ReplyDelete
  158. Because that's how corporate politics works, you never want to be implicated in anything.

    ReplyDelete
  159. The WWE title is the Sword in the Stone, and only Hunter may draw it.

    ReplyDelete
  160. I figured it was more the ref making an excuse and saying anything to get out of trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Good evening, this is already better than the PPV.

    ReplyDelete
  162. If he did, +1000 to whoever it was. Yes, even HHH.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Austin would have left Vince laying with a stunner. Somehow I can't imagine HHH taking a flying knee to the face.

    ReplyDelete
  164. I want Krusty showing us a sworn affidavit that HHH will never return!

    ReplyDelete
  165. No. A few times, that's where the Punk "HE JUST TOOK HIS MONEY!" line came from

    ReplyDelete
  166. Its set in FUCKING STONE if they make those sideplates

    ReplyDelete
  167. they need to just let bryan run off with the belt through the crowd for fuck's sake; have him go AWOL and force a rematch that way

    ReplyDelete
  168. the ref didn't say anything, HHH just made up the conspiracy.

    ReplyDelete
  169. I think the setup itself is unique...for a screwjob anyway. Not calling for anyone's head (yet).

    ReplyDelete
  170. Had a bowel movement that was better than last night

    ReplyDelete
  171. someone please bring out someone to cockblock HHH and Orton....

    ReplyDelete
  172. This is better than just HHH overturning things cause of the count, he's actaully creating a faux conspiracy that he's accusing Bryan is in on, even though he obviously is not. I think it's pretty good.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Can we get a tournament please?!

    ReplyDelete
  174. I don't like the implication that the guy in the suit can physically take anything away from the WWE Champion.

    ReplyDelete
  175. That... was an awesome way to do that.

    ReplyDelete
  176. YES, please.

    (I'm a slut for tournaments)

    ReplyDelete
  177. ahhaahahaha. Sorry. I shouldn't laugh at those that thought this would be a good angle for Bryan.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Jesus fucking christ.....

    ReplyDelete
  179. HHH will take it from Bryan? If Daniel clonks him with the title i'll forgive it otherwise this is dick waving taken to a whole other level even for HHH.

    ReplyDelete
  180. Unless it's a concussion from Bryan's knee impacting his cranium at high velocity.

    ReplyDelete
  181. So Bryan stool tall once the past month? Great..

    ReplyDelete
  182. Nah. I'm really getting tired of seeing the babyface screwed over 9/10 times.

    ReplyDelete
  183. they can't fucking be serious with this shit?

    ReplyDelete
  184. The Battleground name does kind of fit for a big multi-man World title match

    ReplyDelete
