WWE Referee Almost Loses His Thumb

While on tour with the company in Saudi Arabia, referee Charles Robinson sliced his thumb while helping set up the ring so badly that he nearly lost it all together. Luckily, the doctor was able to immediately stitch it back together. You can see the pictures by clicking on the link below

  1. Flair needs to take a Shield powerbomb then use period blood in his eye

    ReplyDelete
  2. There are also no plans for Kamala to manage Evolution. Or King Kong Bundy. Or Jimmy Hart.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Are most here still opposed to adding a young guy to Evolution? Personally I think it's a good idea if only for how well the Shield and Wyatt's are doing in terms of exposure.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Yea, because those guys are on the wwe payroll and were previously in Evolution. Same thing thing tho

    ReplyDelete
  5. TBF, you also share that responsibility.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Nooooooooo. The angle works so much better without one.

    ReplyDelete
  7. No it's how they balance them. If you're going to talk about WCW have Page and Dusty on If you discuss ECW get Heyman or Styles on.

    ReplyDelete
  8. The whole idea of this Evolution is they are veterans that are trying to held down the news stars(Bryan and the Shield)

    ReplyDelete
  9. Especially since they had been building Vader for months. Gives credence to the idea that Bisch saw Superbrawl as the real blowoff show since they did it then.

    ReplyDelete
  10. You think?

It'd have to be someone brand new...not like a Dolph or anyone the audience is familiar with. Maybe some dude from NXT. Immediate heat and will be perceived like a big deal.

Guess it would disrupt the dynamic with The Shield tho.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Im a big scott keith fan as they come but thats bullshit.

    Couple questions.

    1. How many of those new gen matches are in the undercard vs main event?
    2. How many of those matches are hbks?
    3. Scott didnt care enough abt the product during 06-10 im sure he missing alot of stuff. (Especially after benoit died)

Even with those questions there is no way in hell that new gen ppvs have more flakes than 06-10. Cena hbk and taker were putting on **** like damn near every other month. Especially cena in 06-07

    Then you have punk/hardy/orton

Even batsita was cranking out **** on ppv.

    I cant buy that.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Good point actually

    ReplyDelete
  13. Not yet planning on watching with my wife who loves reality TV lol. Sounds good though.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Spotify caching where you lose access when you're not paying for premium.

    ReplyDelete
  15. When HHH said "Believe in evolution" it wasn't just playing to the crowd,it was ironic remark, they're the past,Bryan and the Shield are the future.

    ReplyDelete
  16. The whole reason Evolution works coming back right now is that they don't understand that they aren't the evolution of the business anymore. Adding a up and coming guy would mean they recognize that so what is the point then?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Makes sense. Fair point.

    ReplyDelete
  18. There is always at least one guy on the panel that ties in with the subject.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Disagree... now they just evolution in name.

I feel they need a young prodigy cuz batista aint there for the long haul and he sucks! Plus its always good to get new young guys over.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Bleed like usual.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Damn I didnt read the whole back and forth.

    I see your point.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh ok... I thought u were a flair hater

    ReplyDelete
  23. Like someone said in post:HHH needs to do a bounty hunt on Bryan,it would glorious.

    ReplyDelete
  24. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 9:21 AM

A match with Bret would have been epic.

    ReplyDelete
  25. HBK accounted for 12 out of the 37. Can't remember what main event what so no idea. And 2006-2010 seems well represented. Don't notice anything major missing.

    ReplyDelete
  26. No fucking way, when Flair is not on Self-parody mode he IS THE BEST,my fandom for Jericho and Taker cannot rule that Flair is the man.

    ReplyDelete
  27. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 9:22 AM

You mean the fact that he looks like Dudley Do-Right?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Like I said below, the reason why this works is because they are only evolution in name. The real evolution are the guys they are up against, Bryan and the shield

    ReplyDelete
  29. They should fine a young guy in NXT and put him in soon. The problem is, who do they have to put in that role?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Re: midcarder challenger for the title at rumble.

The problem with that is they come in as such a lame duck nobody cares.

2004: brock vs hardcore holly. You cant program that even with the broken neck angle he came in with no heat no fanfare and brock dismantled him in 8 minutes? Moving on.

Anyone who is over enough to go for the title should be in the rumble unless they pull double duty and roster is wayyyyy to stacked for that. This aint 97 in san Antonio using guys fromm AAA to fill out your card. Theres like damn near 80 guys on the roster and im being nice.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I agree with this take... but imagine the crowd reaction when Evolution announces their "future prospect":

    Bo Dallas.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I don't care for no at all. He is below average in all aspects

    ReplyDelete
  33. His brother is awesome,I forgot who he is,Husky Harrington?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I guess. Maybe I just really hate Ross on these panels. Patterson is generally really good except when he talks about anything not WWF. Flair is pretty atrocious. I like Hayes, Foley and Nash a lot on them. Would like HBK and Austin and hopefully Sting now that he's signed.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Flair can't really play heel at this point anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  36. To aces credit all the new guys u see now he initially brought in.

    ReplyDelete
  37. What I would love to see is HHH trying to do "what's best for business" and only offering a little bit of money (to save money). Something like 10K or 25K in kayfabe terms. This would lead to Bryan fighting the lower midcard to middle of the road guys for a good six weeks on Raw and Smackdown, putting on 10-20 minute classics with each guy like he was Flair or Hart.

HHH then gets pissed (and let's say he's nursing injuries from the Shield wars and can't do anything himself). He keeps raising the bounty due to his own frustration. And with each successive week, the money rises, the competition gets tougher, etc. Some faces show their uglier side. Maybe a heel or two shows their noble side--"I don't want the money. I just want the belt."

But I don't think anyone--including the fans which includes myself--would have the patience to let it play out.

    ReplyDelete
  38. They would say Bryan is gonna be buried.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Peoples hatred of Cena blind them to his great work in the ring.

    ReplyDelete
  40. He is in eternal self-parody mode.

    ReplyDelete
  41. It would only work if Cena ended up turning heel because of it.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Scott was not into the product an 8th as much as he was back than.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The way cult broke it down I can go both ways with it.

Hate to give him some credit but he brought up an excellent reasoning behind the reformation and three man joining.

    Everybody gets one

    ReplyDelete
  44. He shouldn't be on live TV at all at this point. Nothing good will happen if it occurs.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Kind of sad, really.

    ReplyDelete
  46. being the delusional heel that thinks is a face.

    ReplyDelete
  47. If you wanna maximize flair at this stage he has to manage someone who can talk but doesnt have "it"

Face or heel it doesnt matter

    ReplyDelete
  48. They tried with Miz.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Then the kids could still kind of cheer for him.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Have Bo dallas as his buddy

    ReplyDelete
  51. I don't know--this is the "reality era" we're talking about, har har. What better way to introduce HHH's new project, his new handpicked protege than someone playing his handpicked protege. On one hand, there'd be a lot more anticipation with the new guy. He'd be a big deal as we wait to see him ascend or become the biggest heel due to Bootista-heat.

On the other hand, what you and BrazilianKid are saying makes sense and I think it's more fitting in order to hype the Shield as their counterpart.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thank you for putting that back into my memory.

    ReplyDelete
  53. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 9:35 AM

Meh. Flair wasn't all that great in that role.

    ReplyDelete
  54. GOD help me for quoting Dougie but he said it best "it's tough being a 65 yr old frat boy"

    ReplyDelete
  55. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 9:35 AM

Miz is beyond saving a this point.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yes,a pet project makes sense but in current context them being desperate veterans is way better.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Remember when Alex Riley was poised as the next star?

    ReplyDelete
  58. You better hope white thunder doesn't read this.

    ReplyDelete
  59. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 9:37 AM

It's ironic because as he gets older HHH looks more and more like a caveman.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Miz has "it"

He just can not wrestle for the life of him... matter of fact he got worse as the years progressed.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Cutting his hair did no help for his pronounced brow

    ReplyDelete
  62. "What better way to introduce HHH's new project, his new handpicked protege than someone playing his handpicked protege."

Good point. I think it's gotta be someone brand new. Only exception would have been Cesaro before they aligned him with Heyman.

Both sides make good points. I can see both sides

    ReplyDelete
  63. Exactly. When you have the old vets playing the heels trying to hold the gold and feud with the young upstarts while claiming they're "best for business", it's an easy heel v. face dynamic where the faces eventually go over and guys like Bryan/Reigns look great at the end.

Adding a young star to the heel stable just doesn't do it. Getting people like Kane involved with the heels works better, as those are the guys who'll have to job and put people over.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Aaaaaaannd heres cult to douche it up.

I knew I could count on you. Five minutes... new record

    ReplyDelete
  65. Imagine a young weasel HHH suck up in the role. Would be limiting him but really entertaining

    ReplyDelete
  66. Obviously that could work, but it would turn it into a completely different angle. Save that one for down the road.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Soooo HHH in the original dx?

    ReplyDelete
  68. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 9:41 AM

I've said to be a wrestler you need at least 2 of 3 things: The look, wrestling ability (tell a story in the ring) and verbal skills.

Miz has the verbal skills, but his look and ability are lacking. He should consider being a manager.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Yeah, except I actually was taking a liking to Riley's push.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryApril 19, 2014 at 9:42 AM

"and got a run with the belt by beating Hogan cleanly."

Didn't he lose the belt 5 days later?

    ReplyDelete
  71. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 9:42 AM

It's sad to see what he has become.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Or a commentator.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Flair isn't needed for Evolution, because HHH has been cutting some fucking phenomenal heel promos lately.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Yeah, HHH has been on a roll.

    ReplyDelete
  75. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 9:44 AM

True. This is why he worked well with Morrison (who had the look and the ability, but not the verbal skills.)

    ReplyDelete
  76. Ain't even noon and I be dropping knowledge in multiple threads already. Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit /claydavis

    ReplyDelete
  77. Hey anyone that got to hold that belt between 94 - 98 is a very lucky person.

    ReplyDelete
  78. BrazilianKid said something similar a minute or two before Cult did anyway. But it's not rocket science or brain surgery. A day after Bryan won the championship, I started talking about a Sheamus heel turn to freshen up his character and play on the two wrestlers' history, and now a bunch of people are talking about it. But I was likely hardly the first, nor was it all that original.

    ReplyDelete
  79. First thing to pop into my mind was Mr. Ziggles.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Also Flair will get them cheered.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Anyone not named Hogan, you mean.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Would be hilarious to see Batista demoted back to teaming with flair though.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryApril 19, 2014 at 9:46 AM

True, but losing the belt in your first title defense is a run, it's a walk to the next room.

    ReplyDelete
  84. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 9:46 AM

ANd Flair is deteriorating before our eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Miz & Morrison were an underrated team.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Who'd be out of breath first?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Thats a tangential point I can agree with but not really what me and cult are debating.

Its foolish for him as well as scott to say that by his standards the in ring product of the new gen was better than 06-10. Its almost laughable.

Im not shiting on the product cuz hbk tore it up as well as bret but
    Cena
    Taker
    Hbk
    Hhh
    Punk
    Edge
    Hardy
    Ziger
    Jericho
    Benoit
    The end of angle

Theres just too much to compete with against bret and shawn and im sure all those **** had one or both in the matches.

Hbk alone had a third im sure bret had abt 10

    ReplyDelete
  88. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 9:47 AM

So was M & M. Melina put them over the top, Unfortunately she was over the top of half the wrestlers in the locker room.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I was actually schooling people on this subject when it came up in a thread a few days ago.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I had a thought while watching the Warrior doc last night. John Cena is to Hogan as CM Punk is to Ultimate Warrior. Cena and Hogan are the company "made-men" who have title reigns galore, millions of merch, charity appearances, and movies. Punk and Warrior march to the beat of their own drum while showing they don't really need Vince to be happy. They have both left the company under controversial circumstances. Neither really did much as the face of the company or have any films. However, one could argue they were just as, if not more, beloved than Hogan/Cena.

Maybe I'm just overthinking it but I think there's some parallel between those 4.

    ReplyDelete
  91. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 9:47 AM

    "We wan Flair" - creditors

    ReplyDelete
  92. Mister_E_Studd_Got100ProblemsApril 19, 2014 at 9:48 AM

I don't really think that Flair adds anything to the party at this point. I have to say that I really like the story line in general that HHH needed backup so he went to his old standby of DX, and when they couldn't get the job done any more, he had to get his OTHER boys back together.

    ReplyDelete
  93. THAT IS NOT FAIR TO FLAIR!

    ReplyDelete
  94. That documentary was superb. Everyone should watch that

    ReplyDelete
  95. I thought she was at the bottom?

    ReplyDelete
  96. That's probably a level deeper than even WWE Creative are thinking... but I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  97. He should only be seen through archived footage at this point

    ReplyDelete
  98. Mister_E_Studd_Got100ProblemsApril 19, 2014 at 9:48 AM

I agree. It's time for Flair to just be retired. There's nothing there any longer.

    ReplyDelete
  99. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 9:49 AM

I always thought Cna/Punk was the Hogan/Piper of our day, but I agree with everything else you wrote.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryApril 19, 2014 at 9:49 AM

People's hatred of Cena also makes people overrate his work his the ring.

    ReplyDelete
  101. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 9:50 AM

It's sad that Bruno Sammartino looks better than Flair at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  102. That's my bad. I don't know why I was convinced Savage won all three. Guess I'm getting old and confusing things/mis-remembering them.

    ReplyDelete
  103. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 9:50 AM

Maybe he can do something with NXT behind the scenes.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Look will get you farther than anything but I feel passion is right up there with look.

Bryan doesnt have the look but has the passion and obviously the work..

Thats why goldberg and lesnar flake out. No passion... warrior too.

    All had the look.

Miz has passion in spades thats why he will eat shit and ask for seconds cuz he loves wrestling. He will succeed... a manager would be great for him.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Flair couldn't keep no-selling the divorce lawyers.

    ReplyDelete
  106. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 9:51 AM

That was the other half of the locker room.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Mister_E_Studd_Got100ProblemsApril 19, 2014 at 9:51 AM

Yeah, if he's got a good mind for it then he could do some consulting or training, that would be great if it worked out.

But I don't need him on TV.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Passion can also hold you back.

    ReplyDelete
  109. If we're going with the idea that Evolution is actually promoting the end of evolution (the concept), then I think it works. Flair's worn out many of his nostalgia pops already and can theoretically come across as this cranky, crotchety old man who claims the new guys--The Shield--know nothing about "this business" nor the sacrifices their elders have made.

And I'm a Sting mark (which is weird for WWE homer like me). I'd love to see Sting come from the crowd like he did in the glory days, and this time enter with the Shield in a managerial capacity to counter the addition of Flair as a manager.

    ReplyDelete
  110. If Flair came back to manage evolution they would immediately turn face, and very possibly become the most over faces. I'm sure that's why he's not coming back. Still I'd love to see it.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Nobody is more passionate than Ziggler.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryApril 19, 2014 at 9:53 AM

"You can see the pictures by clicking on the link below"

Yeah, pass. Though I've helped out the ring crew guys at indy shows before, and I could easily see how that could happen.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I can agree with most of this. The interesting thing is that they are learning from their mistakes. They're being silent about Punk and seemingly not burning any bridges. Of course, that could all change once his contract expires.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Mister_E_Studd_Got100ProblemsApril 19, 2014 at 9:54 AM

I could maybe dig that as a one off to get a pop when they were in old JCP territory or something, but it doesn't do much for me as an ongoing thing.

    ReplyDelete
  115. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 9:55 AM

He actually DOES have a distinct look. I don't think he would get as far as he did without the beard. But it's his wrestling ability and mic work that gets people emotionally invested.

But the upgrade of his look with the hair and the beard helped out him over the top.

    ReplyDelete
  116. It can cause wwe to take you for granted. If mix had more of a cm punk attitude, no way he lets himself fall so Far down the ladder.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Mister_E_Studd_Got100ProblemsApril 19, 2014 at 9:56 AM

I agree with this. If management thinks that you're all in no matter what, then that can backfire on you.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Bruno still works out.

Flair stop hitting the treadmill years ago

    ReplyDelete
  119. George Bush is not responsible for Two and a Half Men.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Completely disagree about flair. People would cheer like crazy when he came out with evolution. Also as much as I like sting also (grew up a lil stinger) I fear the wwe audience wouldn't care that much, and might not even cheer him at all if he was pitted against Ric Flair. Now if you put Hogan with the shield...

    ReplyDelete
  121. Yes, I'd very shocked and surprised if we saw something along the lines of Self Destruction for Punk.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Yea that was profound. I didnt think of that.

    Good eye

    ReplyDelete
  123. It is soooo sad.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I think we're overestimating Flair's initial drawing power here. Nostalgia runs in cycles, and the crowds aren't nearly as hot for him and Hogan as they were five or ten years ago. Yes, Flair could talk his way into some glorious babyface spots and pops once he arrived, but there's been plenty of fan turnover. I don't think it ruins momentum, especially when the last time they saw Flair was on those Wrestlemania panels where he's unnecessarily running down younger guys or Foley.

    ReplyDelete
  125. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 10:00 AM

HBK said this in his book. Early on he made a niche for himself where he made other people look good until he saw he was getting type-cast for it. But he did it because he thought that's what management wanted and just agreed with it. He knew had to make a change.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Can't wait to see Fuj's next attempt to get the BoD and himself over on Helms shoot.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Flair is a freak athlete though. He might be able to clean himself up a bit for one last run (as a manager that takes an occasional bump) but I don't see them using him for any kind of role like that anyways.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Sorry he has a look.

    I meant typical wwe look.

But the beard thing is played. Rowan... harper... theres like 5- 6 guys with the beard though.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Fuj sent in a question on the ICP shoot name dropping the BoD and calling himself the number one draw. It was hilariously no sold.

    ReplyDelete
  130. I think you are mixing passion for wrestling with being a sycophant of the wwe. ...

Matter of fact I think I am. All miz wanted to be was a wwe superstar. If he would have left the biz right after wm 27... he would be a superstar.

    ReplyDelete
  131. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 10:03 AM

There was a youtube video showing Bruno doing dumbbell presses with 100 lb weights last year.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Rowan and Harper (and Wyatt) aren't "linked" to their facial hair like DB is, however.

Yeah, their characters would be a little... odder... without the facial hair. But it's not like a serious part of their character would be changed as a result.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Mister_E_Studd_Got100ProblemsApril 19, 2014 at 10:04 AM

    Wow really? That's impressive.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Amsterdam_Adam_CurryApril 19, 2014 at 10:05 AM

Fuck outta here, really? That's fucking hysterical. And everyone knows that me, jobber, and Vinson are the real draws. People come for the wrestling, but they stay for the booze/weed discussions and ass pics.

  136. I still heard crowds going whoooooo every time someone throws a chop. If Ric came out with evolution, grabbed a mic and started cutting a promo on Roman Reigns or whoever, and ends it with a big whoooooooo right in his face the crowd would cheer flair like crazy people.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Someone from here uploaded it to YouTube but I'm too lazy to find it.

    ReplyDelete
  138. What,I'm the draw of BoD!

    ReplyDelete
  139. Are you crazy? Im already over... been over!

Im not putting the BoD over no more. Everybody knows im the number one draw. Im also on the sunny youshoot as well.

    Im putting over NPP next.

    ReplyDelete
  140. "Mr. Overdraft" Jef VinsonApril 19, 2014 at 10:06 AM

He built a character around it. Rowan and Harper can shave and they'd be two big idiots behind Wyatt. DBry can't do that.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Most of the In Your House PPVs were one match shows, though. In all honesty, WWF never really figured out how to do monthly pay-per-views until late 1999.

    ReplyDelete

Who's got a belt? Oh yeah, me. Suck it, bee-atch!

    ReplyDelete
  143. Who got THE belt?

    ReplyDelete
  144. Is NPP still a thing?

  148. I understand that, which is why Flair would have to be professional and play the role of heel. Like I said, Flair could talk the fans into being on his side because he has that ability still. But I think we're creeping into the territory where the majority of fans only know the legend of Flair's prime and have not experienced it. So, I think he could heel it up for the young fans while the older fans might even boo him for nostalgia's sake.

  149. I'm no miz fan but even if he never gets back over he's a had a successful career. He should probably be in another heel tag team at some point if they really want to rehab the guy.

  151. I agree. Watching a lot of the shows and reading Petrie's recaps, Survivor Series '96 was pretty much the show where WWF FINALLY started to heat up and get interesting. After that you had the "shades of grey" main event scene where nobody gave a shit about face/heel alignments and just hated each other, and some of Russo's tropes started creeping in.

Blah, blah, blah..you have potential kid. You are the future but the Top 5'ers are now. And if you keep getting out of pockets your future is gonna be bleak.

Now you take your group of evolutionary U-Turns back to the midcard and fight over the Western States Heritage title or whatever non-Top-5'ers do.
