  1. Sad sad news. Much like with Warrior having his Mania weekend while its a shame at least he was around to see his son achieve all you can as a wrestler and get married.

  2. Only going by what we know... that's a pretty damn good way to go out.

  3. With Warrior's recent passing, I read the headline as "Daniel Bryan passes away" and I had a lump in my throat.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Terrible terrible news, in some weird way though at least his dad got to see him succeed to the top of his chosen field, marry a beautiful woman, and achieve his life long dream.

Guy raised one hell of a son, he must have been extremely proud.

  5. What do we chant on such an occasion?

    THANK YOU DAD?
    REST IN PEACE?
    YOU DON'T DESERVE IT?

    ReplyDelete
  6. You know how he died? Or just talking about timing?

    ReplyDelete
  7. I think a respectable silence or polite applause if and when Bryan mentions it would be enough.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Just on the timing. Watching your son succeed to the highest level in his profession, and arguably, his personal life as well... that's a great note to go out on. Just reassurance that you've done a great job, or at least... were not a total screw up in life.

  9. Christ, as horrible as this is I can't even imagine adding a 34 year old Bryan to the fatality list.

    ReplyDelete
  10. People all grieve in different ways, and only DB knows what's best for him, but I think performing will help him a little bit. I can sympathize with him a lot, my dad died about a year and a half ago and I didn't even do anything when I heard about it, I didn't cry, I was stunned, it wasn't until I saw him at the funeral that it became real and I bawled like a baby.

Like a poster said before, his dad saw him rise to the top of his profession and have everything one could ever ask for in life, and I'm glad that he got that.

  11. Bryan's actually 32 but he does turn 33 in a month.

    ReplyDelete
  12. It may not be quite the same to some people, but I remember when Brett Favre's dad passed away and he went out that day to play one of the greatest games anyone has ever had of Monday Night Football.

    154.9 rating, 4 TDs, and 399 yards

Sometimes, that's just how you have to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Huh, I wonder where I got 34 from?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I was exactly the same when my mother passed away at 50. Total shock, and I didn't show any emotion until we were in the funeral home and they closed the casket. Lost it at that point. I can totally sympathize.

  15. Maybe Eric Young?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sad news.
I just hope they are classy enough to not turn this into an angle.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Really sad.. I heard that the Big Bossman wants to read a sympathy card for him tonight.

  18. They're not. But these things often work out.

When my grandmother (whom I was closer to anyone else in my family) passed away, I actually went to work that same day. It helped that it was a low-pressure job (computer lab during summer session) so I knew I'd have time and space to myself. But I can honestly say, knowing her the way I did, she absolutely would have insisted that I "take care of business" because the world doesn't stop just because someone you love is gone. That's just who she was. I know everyone is wired differently, and I'm sure some family members were aghast, but I was secure enough in my relationship with her to not really care what they thought.

If this is what Bryan needs to do to cope with this, more power to him.

  20. Weird Al Yankovic performed a concert just hours after finding out about his parents dying. I think his reasoning was the hopes that it would distract him from crying for a little while.

Exactly. Sometimes you just need time and space to breathe and process things. Some people work, some drink, some tell dark jokes, etc.

  22. So much this. When my father died I basically went catatonic for a week, it wasn't until the Marines started folding the flag for my mom that I just completely lost it.

It'll be four years this summer and I still sometimes go to my phone to call him about a Seahawk trade or to bitch about some politician and then realize that he's not there anymore. I've kept the same shitty iPhone forever because I'm scared if I upgrade I'll lose the two voicemails I've saved since the day it happened, even though I feel pretty ok about it now I don't think I could bear losing his voice.

    ReplyDelete
  23. That's really sad. Maybe you can transfer the voicemail to an mp3 or something.

    ReplyDelete
  24. They're not the same, goddammit!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yeah I'm sure there's a way, or I could take one of my recorders and play it on speaker. I don't know, like anything else it's just a matter of doing it but I go to great lengths subconsiously to avoid it.

scumbag life: lets dbry win the main event of the biggest show of the year and then get married and go on a honeymoon, takes his dad from him in the blink of an eye

    fuck you, life

    ReplyDelete
  27. If you go to your phone company they can probably save it for you, my Dad passed a couple of months ago and we were able to get his voice-mail message. I know how you feel though, he was a huge Red Sox fan and I've found it hard to watch games this year, just makes me sad. A couple of days ago I was going to order a jersey, then realized he wouldn't see it so I didn't bother..

    GOD rest the dead.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Holy shit, this is depressing. Great career highlight, marriage, then your dad died. Wish Bryan the best of luck dealing with this.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Or but they are!

    /sarcasm

    ReplyDelete
  31. At least his father wasnt a performer you know?

    People die.

    It is what it is.

THats why Im trying to repair the relationship I have with my father as he gets up in age cuz its inevitable.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Good for you. Only got 1 mom and pops.

IMO, it's gotta be harder when its unexpected like this. No time to prepare emotionally. No time for last mimute exchanges or good byes.

    ReplyDelete
  33. They sure are! just ask TNA

    ReplyDelete
  34. i know everybody is in the RAW thread and I cant keep up but for those who venture in here.

Now that Piper is back in the fold, and really all of the big stars are back in the family, what does that mean for the shoot interview business?

I mean they arent going to go out of there way to bury the company now and that leaves slim pickings for RF Highspots and KC to get real features on key players for their series.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The best shoots are given by guys who either:

    - have no desire to return to the wrestling business due to either age, financial stability, or whatever
    - have burned their bridges and don't give a fuck

My guess is the shoot iinterviews will continue to be pumped out but they'll become pretty generic and paint by the numbers. Like you said, tons of people are back in the wwe family so we won't get interview like the NAO slamming HHH anymore.

It sucks also, I almost enjoy shoot interviews more than the in ring product

    ReplyDelete
  36. When Daniel Bryans dad dies, amd Mizs dad is left on earth, it reconfirm my stance that there is no God

    ReplyDelete
  37. That's not nice. What did miz's dad ever do?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I only watch shoots now, haven't followed the current product in years. I can't explain why I'm so fascinated by them.

The slim pickings are already happening, and it shows that so many people want to stay in good standing with Vince still. I think KC handles it best, with monthly releases of various different formats and topics. But, there's still too many duds for my liking, too many people won't say anything and/or outright make up stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Agreed. Once in awhile you'll get guys who tell funny stories about partying, ribs, etc. It's rarer that guys will really divulge the juicy stuff within the business anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Too bad Bossman isn't alive to bust up the funeral :(

    ReplyDelete
  41. The greatest 2 weeks of DB's life ends in a horrible tragedy. I pray he can find comfort and healing

    ReplyDelete
  42. Well said. He can be at total peace knowing his son had made it in the 2 most important areas of life.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Contributed half of The Miz's genetic makeup.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Eric Young isn't even a good comedy character. God TNA sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  45. DB tweeted this has been 2 greatest weeks of his life, and this is how it ends. Sad.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Thanks Pitbulls slower younger brother

    That is all

    ReplyDelete
  48. I was able to save all the voicemails my father in law had left my wife when he passed away. There is a way to move them from your iPhone and then save as mp3. I think I googled it and it was pretty simple.

    ReplyDelete
  49. All I remember about her is that she teamed up with Jimmy Snuka's daughter for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Didn't she get down on a knee and propose to some other scrub wrestler? Some guy that wasn't even good enough to appear on this year's Wrestlemania?

    ReplyDelete
  51. You mean Daniel Bryan's non-union Mexican equivalent?

    ReplyDelete
  52. I thought it was a really moving moment when Daniel Bryan came out and you could tell it meant a lot to him to have everyone cheering for him. He even mouthed, "thank you". A great little genuine moment.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I've never cried when someone close to me has passed on. It's not a tough guy act. Of course I miss them, but life itself has a mortality rate of 100% so it's hard for me to cry over something so inevitable.

    ReplyDelete
  54. And he doesn't even hold a candle to Chris Benoit in the elite asshole category either.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Wrestlers get royalties on DVDs as long as they continue to sell, even if they are no longer with the company.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Your assumptions make an ass out of yourself to the many who are aware of the joke

    ReplyDelete
  57. I was wondering why he looked like he had been crying.
