BoD Daily Update

WWE Not Going After Archived Video Content on YouTube

The reason that the WWE is not going after this footage is part of a strategic decision. The strategy is that if the videos remain on YouTube, there is a better chance to get people hooked on the product and that it will be more beneficial in the long-term as fans who get exposed to the product that way will spend more money.

Rey Mysterio Update

Mysterio is still under contract with the WWE. However, there is no set date for his return and there is a question if he will ever return to the company. Also, it has been reported that  Mysterio has stopped cashing his checks that the WWE has been sending him. Mysterio's contract was renewed for another year based off of the idea that he owed them time that he missed due to injury, which is part of the standard wrestling contract that everyone signs.

Ricky Steamboat Update

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, sources he spoke with in the WWE have told him that reports of Steamboat being let go from the company are inaccurate. Steamboat is booked on some independent shows but others, like Booker T, do that all of the time.

  1. Oh, come on, you expect me to believe Rey Mysterio would stop cashing checks sent to him (and probably somewhat lucrative ones at that)? The guy has a family and it's not like he's a billionaire.

  2. The best part of Youtube and wrestling is that I can search for something like CM Punk Commentary 2010, and get all of that great commentary he did without having to look for each part on each show. Let the fans do the work of compiling and uploading stuff, and enjoy the exposure.

  3. So, "Injury time" from Soccer also applies to WWE contracts?

  4. Maybe Zeb's speeches have finally gotten to him, and now he's rattled with guilt?

  5. Sadly for WWE, I probably won't order the Network when it comes to Canada, specifically because I have already seen every old PPV that I wanted to see in the past few years, all from Youtube.

  6. Mysterio wants his contract to run out, so WWE forces him into another year, so Mysterio stops cashing paychecks.

New level of sad for WWE. Let the man go! Give him one of those ambassador deals like Hogan has.

  7. yea im not reupping me network after summerslam... no point, ive seen everything in the archives for most part and the current product sucks dick for coke atm.

  9. Rey has made a lot in his career. He sold a shit ton of masks too. His merchandise sold well for a number of years.

The not cashing checks, if it is true, would be him trying to make a stand against the WWE so they let him out of his contract

  10. Whoa, that TOTALLY has something to do with my post! Please tell me more!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I wonder if his uncashed paychecks are all stacked on a big table. See what I did there?

  12. Who knew Caliber was such a trendsetter

    ReplyDelete
  13. Who has been out injured longer, Mysterio or Christian? Seems like both have been out forever. Last match I remember seeing Rey in was TLC 2012 in the fun Tables Match against Rhodes Scholars.

  14. You can make fun Vince, but you won't forgive yourself if you don't check it.. How else can you get a Land Rover for $4000???

    ReplyDelete
  15. That is true. I would totally be LEAVING MONEY ON THE TABLE if I don't take advantage of this deal! (ok, 2 Caliber jokes in 15 minutes is my quota for the day)

  16. It's funny you mention it because I watch that specific video of Punk commentary from 2010 a lot. Tons of great stuff. I also find myself watching NXT Season 3 with the divas because no one gives a shit and Michael Cole's commentary is pure gold.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Awesomeness. Striker, in a dramatic tone "After tonight, one of you will be eliminated from the competition..." Cole: "THANK GOD!!!!"

Also, it brought us both AJ and Naomi. God Bless season 3.

    ReplyDelete
  18. That would be some stand. Just can't fathom it.

    ReplyDelete
  19. It was so great. Whenever I get down on Cole I watch NXT Season 3. When he has the gong? COME ON! Punk does commentary on one episode too and someone hits a spear and Cole goes into the over the top "SPEAR SPEAR SPEAR" and Punk responds with "It was the damndest spear I ever seen" So much great entertainment.

  20. He wasn't the first, but damn if he didn't set the current trend for the BoD Meltdown (TM)

  21. OMG.. it's so horrible.. How dare they pay this guy to sit on his ass and do nothing year after year?? WWE is the worst company in the world!!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. You forgot the glorious chaos that was Rey at #30 in the Rumble this year? For shame.

    ReplyDelete
  23. One's Mexican, the other's Canadian - they could be the Border Boys!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Seriously, I love Renee Young. Giant Haystacks jokes in 2014; she's the best.
