Evening Thread - Tuesday Edition

Tonight on the Network, it's Main Event at 8:00 ET, Wrestlemania Rewind at 9:00 featuring the Mysterio/Angle/Orton triple threat match from WM XXII, and Countdown at 10:00 featuring the top ten "riveting rivalries".

Also, a full slate of MLB games this evening.

Comments

  1. With more time that Triple Threat could have been something really special. They still rocked the house with just 9 minutes. But those divas had to have that pillow fight.

  2. Is there a main event etched in WWE's history that is more forgettable than Punk vs. Miz vs. Del Rio at TLC 2011?

    ReplyDelete
  3. So the SummerSlam card is looking something like...
Cena vs. Brock (WWE World Heavyweight Championship of the World)
    Reigns vs. Orton
    Ambrose vs. Rollins
    Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt
    Miz vs. Ziggler (IC title)
    Sheamus vs. Rusev (US title)
The Usos vs. Harper/Rowan (tag team titles)
    AJ vs. Paige (Divas title)

    ReplyDelete
  4. Well worth my $9.99.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Rollins vs. Fandango on Main Event. Who's the babyface?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Say what you will about The Miz, but the man is surprisingly durable. The only time I recall him missing ring time due to injury was for a few days after his sick WM27 concussion. He even sucked it up like a champ the night after Kofi Kingston blasted him in the head on RAW to drop the title to him in an even better match on Main Event.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I just found out that Big Show and Randy Orton main evented Survivor Series.

    ReplyDelete
  8. But he misses 9 months a year doing movie stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I was just thinking the same thing. When did Fandango turn face?

    ReplyDelete
  10. The way WWE portrays women, I could actually see them thinking Fandango is the sympathetic one in the Summer-Layla deal. Oh those crazy chicks...

    ReplyDelete
  11. I noticed last night that Brock is starting to look a little old in the face. What is he, 35?

    ReplyDelete
  12. It just occured to me -- did the Undertaker ever score a win on Brock Lesnar?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Cool video from the DDPYoga Retreat: Dedication to Daniel Bryan

  14. Monday: HHH cuts a promo making fun of fans for bitching about wrestling on social media.
Tuesday: WWE promotes how Battleground was the most active TV show on social media.

  15. For the WWE Countdown tonight, knowing the previous ones, I'm willing to bet Cena v Orton for the title has to be on there. It has main evented so many ppvs so the fans must want it over and over again.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I posted this in the RAW recap thread, but ... I don't know why WWE won't use Cena and Nikki Bella's real-life relationship to their benefit, especially right now when it makes perfect sense and could get Cena even more over as a babyface.
Cena is kinda-sorta feuding with the Authority, and the Authority is terrorizing his girlfriend, and not once has he ever come out to help her. Cena stopping last night's 4-on-1 beatdown on Nikki would have worked. Andy PG asked what was he supposed to do, since men can't hit women in WWE anymore, but Cena wouldn't have had to hit anybody. As soon as his music hits the girls would've froze, and when he came bolting down the ramp they would've scattered. He picks up Nikki in his arms, gives Stephanie the death glare, walks Nikki back to safety and is the biggest babyface ever.

  17. Gentleman the fun will now begin... assuming I don't fall asleep before 9pm like last night

    ReplyDelete
  18. Miz in general receives far more criticism than he deserves.

    ReplyDelete
  19. It makes no sense that HHH wants the belt off of Cena. To compound the stupidity, he wants the belt onto Brock.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I find it funny that 2 of these are rematches from the last PPV... though I think it is going to be Rybaxel/Uso's

    ReplyDelete
  21. He just wants what's BEST FOR BUSINESS

    ReplyDelete
  22. But Brock is the bigger star; he can wear the title whenever he is doing interviews or UFC stuff just like with the Miz's recent IC title win.

    ReplyDelete
  23. because no one really likes Cena Bella. And Cena Bella and CEna together would be the biggest heels in the WWE

    ReplyDelete
  24. Wonder if they feed Orton to Brock leading up to summerslam. Kinda nonsensical that getting jumped costs him a title match

    ReplyDelete
  25. I have a theory about this: everyone knows that wrestling is scripited ("fake") but not eveyone realizes that reality shows are scripted ("fake"), too. So if something from the fake wrestling show is used in the thought-to-be-legit reality show, it will expose the reality show as fake.

It occurs to me that I'm seeing shitloads of new posters all over the place.

    That's cool and all.

    ReplyDelete
  27. No sense. If HHH and Steph applauded Cena being on the cover of WWE 2K15 ... making him literally the face of WWE to the mainstream public ... why would they have a problem with him being the champ?

And you made fun of me for going to bed at 10!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Man say what you will but Heath Slater sure OWNS the stupid shit they give him. Perfectly acceptable JTTS

    ReplyDelete
  30. He's about to get beat up by a gang of black guys.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I've been saying that same thing for a year. Slater and 3MB were great.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think he gets the "token white guy Owen" role.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm expecting Titus to turn on Slater and join Xavier Woods' new crew. They already kinda teased Heath turning babyface in the IC title battle royal.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I didn't choose to go to bed I randomly fell asleep (and slept all the way until it was time for work this morning) that is different because... well because a Top 5'er said so!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Except the gimmick ones.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Summer time posting.

    ReplyDelete
  37. This irks me to death. They can't even explain it in the storyline. Just "we don't want Cena to have it".

    ReplyDelete
  38. Has Slater always had the shitty tattoos?

    ReplyDelete
  39. good match building up Reigns against Del Rio: make him look credible by beating former champs.

    ReplyDelete
  40. They probably view Brock/Orton as a money match and won't waste it on Raw.

They'll instead have Brock standing next to Heyman while he cuts his promos, which is a great use of his exorbatant price tag.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yes, he was born with them.

    ReplyDelete
  42. could be the sporting news effect

    ReplyDelete
  43. :: Sigh ::

Has he always had the shitty tattoos since he was on TV?

    ReplyDelete
  44. They've used "real" Total Divas storylines to drive the wrestling angles already, though. Summer slapping Natalya on her front porch, for example.

    ReplyDelete
  45. So is NoD 2.0 supposed to be a heel stable?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Now would be a greattime for Kofi to to cut a promo ditching his "slave name" of Kofi Kingston in favor of something better sounding. And also to dump the stupid fake Jamacian gimmicks.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Heheh, I'm sorry I can't help myself sometimes...

And I think he's gotten some new ink since he's debuted, yeah.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Mister_E_KindaBuzzedAllBecauseJuly 22, 2014 at 6:26 PM

Hadn't even thought of that, but good call. It seems weird that there are so many at once, unless I'm just imagining things.

    Which happens.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I guess. They're black. Someone said as much last night on the live thread.

    ReplyDelete
  50. You think Vince McMahon is gonna book a bunch of black guys in a group to be babyfaces?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Kofi's offense isn't going to work as a heel, he will need to adapt.
