Tough Enough Update

Tough Enough, which was originally scheduled for July, has apparently been the victim of budget cuts. There were some preliminary talks about doing the show in the Fall but there have been no discussions at all about the show within the past few weeks.

Zeb Colter Update

Colter has been telling friends that he suffered an injury as a result of getting kicked by Rusev at SummerSlam. However, there is a story making rounds backstage that he was injured outside of the ring as well. He is expected to be back on TV at some point.

Reason For NXT Talent Getting Fired?

Shaun Ricker, who was let go from NXT recently, has been reported to have had heat with WWE management regarding social media issues, one of which was him constantly re-tweeting messages from fans that said he should be on television.

I just came here for the crazy talk.

    ReplyDelete
  2. I swear the stupidest shit will get you heat in the WWE.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Chris Benoit.

    ReplyDelete
  4. How dare they cancel Tough Enough, they might miss out on the next breakout star like Maven, Shaniqua, Jackie Gayda, Daniel Puder and... That guy who got stunned in this 1 and only Raw apperarance!!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Tough Enough is pretty stupid to be honest.

    ReplyDelete
  6. "Do what you have to to get over... don't count on creative for everything... we want extensions of your existing personality... reach out to the fans to make a true connection... embrace social media...

    ... except... you know... don't."

    ReplyDelete
  7. Wait.....what the FUCK is the BOD?

  8. I would love to have gone on Tough Enough -- so I could of had diplomatic discussions with Bob Holly and see if he still kick my butt out of spite. If I had tried, when I had money, Forest-mania might be running wild right now.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Sounds more like whining than anything else.

  10. Batista Unhappy With Recent WWE Run
“It was just bad from right off the bat. They said, ‘We want you to come out and do this thing with Hunter and Steph and Randy,’ and I was like, ‘First night back and you can’t give me five minutes in the ring by myself in front of the fans?”

“I told them from the very beginning [making me a babyface] isn’t going to work. They said, ‘Nah, man. They love you. They love you. They miss you.’ That’s going to last for 30 seconds. I said, ‘They want to hate me and I’m good at that.’”

Batista, smarter about the business and the "WWE Universe" than Triple H... even after four years away.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Well on the bright side, they found John Morrison. He didn't suck

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yep, the absolute only exception. Like a needle in a haystack I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  13. True. Morrison would still be a major player if he re-signed.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I mean the Forest-mania t-shirts and bandannas would be flying off the shelves.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I remember the chick who randomly disappeared from the first season ended up getting served a restraining order by the company after she turned out to be a stalker.
They also picked Linda Miles and Jackie Gayda over Kenny King, who was at least competent as a performer. But Jackie did have a glorious wardrobe malfunction that was probably going to be better than anything King would have done in the company.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I missed all the fun of last night.

    ReplyDelete
  17. and miz and matt morgan

    ReplyDelete
  18. For tough enough, why not do it for the developmental guys? They are already training with WWE so just film it

    ReplyDelete
  19. Also Kenny King and Ryback.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I was talking about the winners.
They also found Ryback, and the Boogeyman

    ReplyDelete
  21. Last night? It was an entire day of fun.

    ReplyDelete
  22. "You'll get over only when we tell you to get over."

    ReplyDelete
  23. Its also hilarious that they signed Cameron, who was the first one sent packing on the last season by Austin, who felt she lacked passion for wrestling.
That says a lot about the company right there.

    ReplyDelete
  24. They left money on the table by not letting Matt Cross win.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Must have found Hayes office on the way out.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I didn't see that season at all, I just know that the runner up was at a local indy show both before and after that season. Go Luke Robinson go!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. My thoughts:

*Bad move on Tough Enough. It was a fun show the last go around, but the WWE cut guys because USA Network wanted to promote certain people and then chose the winner based on the fact that the guy already had a contract. Then, they proceed to bring up the one person who has no idea about the business on the show (Cameron). I bet Austin was thrilled with all that. The Network needs more original series to vary up its content, so cutting something like this is just doesn't make sense. Yes, you have to pay for it, but some costs are just worth it.

*Social media is awful, but WWE sets these guys up by making them have accounts. Then, the company gets mad when guys take things into their own hands to get themselves over.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Andy......what a waste of a win, Luke looked like he was better in the ring.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yep, the fact that I legit didn't even remember his name pretty much proves my point, doesn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I feel bad for Batista in his last run. The guy was just put in an impossible position. Would've been better had he won the title from Orton as the Authority got tired of Orton's paranoia and then he faced Bryan in the WrestleMania main event.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Still upset that MDog 20 got kicked out in the second episode,it's like they didn't want anymore of Punk's buddies running around.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Luke should've gotten a contract. The guy had the makings of a great mid-level heel.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I bet Austin was thrilled with that too. I love his reaction when Cameron says the greatest match she's seen is Alicia Fox-Melina.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Who Kevin Dunn hated!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Dunn hated Morrison?

    ReplyDelete
  36. I remember there was lots of outrage over that second season when the two women were picked since the rules said it would be 1 male wrestler and 1 female wrestler.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yeah, you could see that the crowd didn't like him, but he had the heel presence. My sister who's not a wrestling fan wanted him to win.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't get how the WWE does things sometimes

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yeah, I thought I remembered he went on a rant about how Morrison wasn't going to add anything to the product or something on that season.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Dunn thinks Alicia Fox is great so there ya go.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I just found it funny that they had the big guy (whatever his name was) as the winner (again due solely to the fact that he had a contract at the time) and then had him IMMEDIATELY sell a SLAP from Vince McMahon like he was blasted by a shotgun. I mean, a Vince slap should not cause a really tall man to take a bump.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Imagine if they did sign Kenny King. It's amazing that Kenny is still wrestling while everyone else from that season flamed out in one way or another. Kenny King was the one person they missed out on who would have been an asset.

    ReplyDelete
  43. King was pissed at the finale. I remember him saying "oh, so that's how it is."

    ReplyDelete
  44. I beg to differ, his matches from 2009-2011 as a face showed me otherwise.

    ReplyDelete
  45. King is solid in the ring and on the mic.
However, he would just get lost in the shuffle in the WWE.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Happy Tough Enough isn't happening. It has been awful for them, plus this season would feature guys already under NXT contracts. What's the point?

    ReplyDelete
  47. The Love-Matic Grampa!August 29, 2014 at 9:22 AM

You have to know your company's corporate culture, though. If nothing else, learn from Ziggler's and Ryder's mistakes. It's hard to have sympathy for a guy when he sees other, more important people get punished for something and then turns around and does the same thing.

    Work smarter, not harder.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Imagine if NXT didn't sign Devitt, Steen, and KENTA?
They'd have no one besides Zayn

    ReplyDelete
  49. If they did it on TV, it could have been a preview of sorts for NXT.
You want to see more of NXT? Get he Network!

    ReplyDelete
  50. He probably would but I think he might have reached John Morrison's level.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yeah Tough Enough is not a good show when it comes to creating the next big star, but last season was entertaining with Austin basically carrying the whole show.

    ReplyDelete
  52. That show had some decent talent. Unfortunately, the WWE didn't sign anyone who showed any true passion for the business.

    ReplyDelete
  53. That's the thing.
You have to play the game in the WWE as it is a corporation more than a wrestling company.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Everything went down hill when it got leaked he was returning. If he did a surprise at the Rumble he would've gotten huge a pop.

He also didn't get any fans by his derogatory tweets about the current talent.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Yup, essentially doing the Heyman "Plan B" angle (the Authority brings in Batista to get the title off Orton), but Bryan wins out at Mania. They could've even done Orton vs. Triple H at Mania as Orton gradually becomes a face because he goes against The Authority. But ANYTHING with a heel Batista would've been better.

Batista offers a ton of praise for Bryan in the Jericho podcast too, so it's obvious he had no problem putting him over.

    ReplyDelete
  56. The WWE screwed that up by promoting him at a house show before his return.

    ReplyDelete
  57. But they made sure to sign Cameron after revealing what her favorite match was.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Who was the big guy? Eric Watts? He had an afro. I don't know how he didn't get fired first, the guy was just sad to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Exactly. And they wonder why fewer people are watching the product than 1995 or so.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Just looked it up. His name was Andy. Those "motivational" segments where he was crying as Austin yelled at him were unintentionally funny.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Eh, his return on Raw popped a HUGE rating, which I'm sure WWE wasn't crying about.

Keep in mind the crowd didn't fully turn on Batista until the Royal Rumble match when #30 came out, it wasn't Bryan, and it became obvious that Batista would be pushed down fans' throats until WrestleMania at the expense of Bryan.

It wasn't so much that fans hated Batista, they hated that Batista wasn't Bryan.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Thank you for the update of Shaun Ricker.
I'm placing it in 'Shit I Don't Give A Fuck About' file.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'll never forget the crowd completely TURNING on the Rumble after #30 came out. I think they might've been able to temper some of the bad feelings by making it humorous and have Bad News Barrett get on his platform and go "You might think Daniel Bryan is #30 but I'M AFRAID I'VE GOT SOME BAD NEWS!" I never thought I'd see a crowd revolt during a Rumble, though, so that was just surreal. The crowd's anger and disgust just seeped through the TV screen.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Not even sure if it's a joke, or there's something to it, but doesn't Kevin Dunn have a thing for Alicia? So could it have been Dunn responsible for hiring her, just because she was a fan of Fox herself?

    ReplyDelete
  65. They shouldn't have allowed Bryan to break from the Wyatts so quickly then, they should have stuck to their guns and let it play out.

    ReplyDelete
  66. The B is for Batista!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Yeah, it went from "Hey, look, it's Batista! All right! He's back!"

To "Wait, Rey is #30? Fuck that guy! BOOO! And fuck Batista too!"

    ReplyDelete
  68. Huge pop, but Zero extra buyrate, and zero extra rating for the Raw he debuted on. So they absolutely did the right thing. If you have a big name coming back, hype it up.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Exactly, he does a surprise return, crowd goes crazy, WWE doesn't feel the need to give Bryan the title match or the match with Hunter, Punk fights Hunter at Mania. That one screw up really changed the course of this year.

    ReplyDelete
  70. So, Zeb might have been hurt in the ring. But then, it's possible he wasn't. Also, it's expected that he'll be back at some point.

How can this possibly be considered news? How does Meltzer have any cred whatsoever?

    ReplyDelete
  71. The problem is, I think that either the company wasn't aware of the power Bryan held, or they were just denying it.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Then I missed even more I suppose.

    ReplyDelete
  73. He is suffering from two injuries or got hurt outside of the WWE and is missing time and trying to cover himself from possibly losing a job by saying Rusev hurt him

    ReplyDelete
  74. If Batista does a surprise return they don't chant Bryan's name. The surprise would've trumped everything.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Which is really funny considering that the Seattle crowd hijacked that segment between Cena and Orton before TLC. I think that's why Mark Henry got squashed by Lesnar since he held Bryan's hand up and I remember Punk laughing and shaking his head. The company probably reasoned that it was just a hometown reaction, but I don't doubt they were completely tone deaf to other reactions he was getting.

    ReplyDelete
  76. THAT'S what you should have posted then. Sorry man, but the above makes the reporting look like amateur hour.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Now that I think about it, Meltzer was George W Bush's WMD source in 2002-2003, wasn't he?

Saddam Hussein definitely has Weapons of mass destruction, unless he doesn't, in which case he is lying, but might possibly have them hiding somewhere to create confusion, assuming they do exist.

    Bush: LET'S GO TO WAR!!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Its what Meltzer reported and that is what I took from what he wrote.

    ReplyDelete
  79. No way, totally disagree. I will never agree with not having surprises. It is literally the number one reason I don't waste 12 hours a month watching Raw.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Haha, that's a funny theory. That whole debacle illustrated the CIA's lack of good Middle East intelligence assets. MI6 got fooled too.

    ReplyDelete
  81. If you don't respect Meltzer or dislike his reporting, you do have the right not to read him, you know.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I also have the right to poke fun at him and mock him, which is what I choose to do.

    ReplyDelete
  83. The fact that Bush was reading to kids while planes were being flown into buildings says it all about the ineptitude of his administration

    ReplyDelete
  84. And WWE wouldn't have gotten the huge RAW rating and the big Rumble buyrate.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I just like to picture at the Rumble in the back, Vince is irate at Bryan. Bryan is just laughing and shrugging like, " I'll still follow the plan you want me to follow, but you won't stop these guys."

    ReplyDelete
  86. As we do when we criticize John Cena, but that causes you to poopy your underpants in anger.

    ReplyDelete
  87. If he was a surprise entrant at the Rumble, he would have gotten over huge.

    ReplyDelete
  88. It worked in the Attitude Era, when Wrestling was must see TV. But the Boom period ended, so that tactic no longer works. I can't count how many times TNA had a huge match or moment on Impact with zero hype. Sadly, almost nobody saw it, BECAUSE THEY DID NOT ADVERTISE IT.

    ReplyDelete
  89. And we would have welcomed him back, until we saw how gassed he was.

    ReplyDelete
  90. To be fair, just retweeting fans saying he should be on TV isn't really working to get himself over. Fans pandering and desperate for R/T hit up performers in sports and media all the time... just seemed like he was saying "SEE THESE FANS WANT ME ON TV AND I'M BEING HELD DOWN!"

    ReplyDelete
  91. I agree with most of that, but I always thought the Punk reaction was planting the seeds for his upcoming feud with HHH. The camera angle and timing were just perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I think it's the former. I figured WWE thought Bryan was the new "Internet Geeks" favorite, like a lesser version of Punk.

    ReplyDelete
  93. 100%. WWE could pull surprises

Even when Lesnar returned the day after Mania 28, it wasn't advertised but it was leaked EVERYWHERE. WWE wanted to make sure everyone was watching that last segment to see Lesnar's return.

    ReplyDelete
  94. He would have had more time to get into ring shape

    ReplyDelete
  95. Oh yeah, internet geeks. Like what a good chuck of people are.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Yeah, the same people who WWE dismisses but are probably the vast majority of people buying the Network.

    ReplyDelete
  97. So then we're all agreed that we can say and reply whatever we want. Ummm... Why are we arguing here?

    ReplyDelete
  98. I did too about Punk. They definitely teased something there between the two
And Cena deserves all the credit in the world for saving the segment when the fans hijacked it. By the end, he had the crowd behind him

    ReplyDelete
  99. Batista looking better in his return would be better for the long-term ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  100. They had reports warning them about the attacks and ignored them.

    ReplyDelete
  101. And then he had to tell Vince in the back to just let the crowd have fun.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I honestly didn't notice him being gassed. I guess it can always mix it with selling fatigue, but I really didn't notice anything on the first viewing.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Can't compare WWF and TNA, in my opinion. I know that the industry has changed, and i know that it has too, but I don't have to like it.

Raw and Nitro were appointment viewing in the 90s due to it being live, where anything can happen. Now I know what'll happen and if something cool does happen, I just YouTube it or whatever.

    ReplyDelete
  104. That was his scheduled trip for that day. He didn't know that on that day there'd be an attack. He also didn't want to startle kids by running out of the room. That criticism is just unwarranted.

    ReplyDelete
  105. One quarter hour rating doesn't make a memory.

    ReplyDelete
  106. That always seemed unsure to me. But just to go back to Michael Moore's idiocy (from the other thread), i'll just change the topic for a minute.

I loved how Moore basically said the same thing, like how DARE bush ignore possible warnings and threats, what kind of president is he?

And just 15 minutes later, he was mocking Bush for using scare tactics about possible other attacks, and obviously there were no more attacks coming up. Umm... SO DO YOU WANT HIM TO IGNORE WARNINGS, OR TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY, YOU FAT F*CK??

ok, rant over. I don't like Michael Moore very much. :)

    ReplyDelete
  107. Neither do I.
Roger and Me was funny and Bowling for Columbine was good but too one-sided on the whole

    ReplyDelete
  108. It's funny how much mental gymnastics people will go to in order to bash Meltzer.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Teased? Didn't the segment end with Triple H pulling Punk off Orton, Punk punching Hunter, Michaels superkicking Punk, Bryan giving Michaels the Knee-Plus, and Bryan shoving Orton into Stephanie?

That was no tease. That was the entire setup for WrestleMania season.

    ReplyDelete
  110. What the in the blue hell does that mean?

    ReplyDelete
  111. Keep talking Bayless, you're about 80 away from passing Farva.
    RIP.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Yep. Moore was bashing him, like "look at him, he doesn't even know what to do! "

Ummm... Something absolutely unprecedented just happened, and he had not actually seen it with his own eyes, he just got a verbal update. I think anyone on the planet would be worried and confused, no?

    ReplyDelete
  113. You work until the very end, Dutch.
Corporate structures just don't seem to work in wrestling. Titan Sports Vince would have said 'atta boy, you get over!' Corporate suit Vince wants glossy products. Wrestling doesn't work in this context.

    ReplyDelete
  114. You're one misstep away from Vintage making fun of your avatar.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I like the way you think!

    ReplyDelete
  116. I hate him as much as the next guy, but wat? It's not like he chilled there all day while America was getting attacked.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Go ahead, make your jokes, Mr. Jokey... Joke-maker. But let me hit you
with some knowledge. Quit now. Save yourself the embarrassment of losing
with these losers in Las Vegas, La Fleur.

    ReplyDelete
  118. *MELTDOWN*!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  119. Everyone, regardless of party affiliation, would have given the same level of attention to those warnings (including Gore if he had become president), which were muddled and somewhat vague in terms of date of attack, targets, etc. The U.S. government gets tons of "warnings" or perceived threats. For example, you have ISIS threatening attacks on Chicago and such right now. Do we put that city on immediate lockdown? The Clinton administration had the same information and could've taken out bin Laden with the help of the Sudanese, but hell, that was before the Cole bombing in 1999, so we had nothing to really act on. Also, the Church Commission's findings in the 1970s created a huge intel wall between the FBI and CIA, so that hindered information going to the proper place.

I mean, if you talked to anyone before 9-11 of terrorists seizing four planes and flying three of them into big targets people would've thought you were bat shit insane. We have a different level of awareness now that will hopefully prevent future tragedies on the scale of 9/11 (for example, I don't think passengers are just going to sit idly by and let people hijack an aircraft), but in the context of the time, I don't blame anyone on either side of the aisle for the attacks, the planning for which was more than a decade in the making.

    ReplyDelete
  120. If you quoted him further, he still doesn't get the Bryan uproar. So no, I don't think Batista is that smart.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Well, someone did predict we would have a meltdown today.

    ReplyDelete
  122. That's revisionist. The crowd started booing Batista when he came out. They knew what the deal was.

    ReplyDelete
  123. I thought it was rather poetic myself, sunshine. The WWE is built on memorable moments, so popping a big quarter rating, to me, doesn't equal a moment that will be remembered forever. I don't remember much from the Rumble in 2011 but I do remember Diesel and Booker T returning. Imagine Batista with a surprise return, it's a moment that will go on forever.

    ReplyDelete
  124. WWE prefers the moments that make money... uh, sunshine.

    ReplyDelete
  125. *They knew they had to deal with it.

    ReplyDelete
  126. That's why the company needs to get off the stock market. Wrestling in the hands of investors ends up just like the rest of corporate America: bland, uninteresting, afraid to take substantial risks, and unwilling to push the cultural envelope for fear of offending someone.

    ReplyDelete
  127. I heard he's gunning for number 1

    ReplyDelete
  128. Yeah, I see your point. I just think the company is feeding the beast by being so "socially active." They want to "engage" fans, but are so easy to disregard those same fan opinions as irrelevant if they don't mesh with their particular vision.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Some people have some sort of odd behavior towards him.
Not liking him is one thing but the lengths people to go bash him, like you said, is just plain mental

    ReplyDelete
  130. The Love-Matic Grampa!August 29, 2014 at 9:55 AM

I'm torn on the "Batista's return should have been a surprise issue. On the one hand, you have a big star like The Rock coming back, you advertise because you know his appearance will mean more eyes glued to the TV. On the other hand, Batista isn't necessarily The Rock and there's no real guarantee of extra eyes for his return. As it turned out, people WERE interested, but there's no real way of knowing that in advance.

There's also the issue of staleness in the product, and the need to occasionally break with the status quo and offer up genuine surprises for the fans. What's the point of doing a live show where everything is strictly formulated and nothing even remotely unscheduled or unplanned ever happens? Not advocating anarchy or disorder, but rather a return to the idea of appointment TV and "anything can happen in WWE!" Now, they all but tell you that 90% of the show is just filler and easily missable.

    ReplyDelete
  131. That beard would get over!

    ReplyDelete
  132. Yah that is definitely true. This case just seems obvious to me that it comes off as desperate and whiny. Interact and build your character but don't just keep retweeting them saying he should be on TV.

If I had colleagues emailing me saying "you really deserve a promotion" and just kept forwarding them around it would get old pretty quick...

    ReplyDelete
  133. One random thought: With a few of those investor lawsuits against WWE, do you think that lawyers could use those ridiculous "Did You Know?" segments to their advantage by showing that this company loves to manipulate data and cook numbers?

    ReplyDelete
  134. You seriously don't see his never ending pattern of covering his own ass each way from sunday? Most people do see it, and rightfully mock it.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I doubt that would do much of anything.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I found it really funny that Plan C = Brock. Shouldn't that have really been plan B?

    ReplyDelete
  137. Ignored attacks, false claims of WMD's, and that more people from his administration quit than anyone else shows how bad they were.

    ReplyDelete
  138. You know, I had completely forgotten about that segment, but it was one of the better finishes to a RAW in recent memory.

    ReplyDelete
  139. No, I get all that. But what does have to do with him reading to children?

    ReplyDelete
  140. It was: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_n5htJocFO8

Too bad 75% of it didn't lead anywhere in hindsight.

    ReplyDelete
  141. My bad, the Network, DVDs etc. are given away for free.

    ReplyDelete
  142. He covers pro wrestling, where if you name sources the person will get fired for leaking it out and you will lose that source forever.
Its not your normal form of entertainment from a journalism aspect.
He actually is a journalist, who wrote for many papers before settling on the Observer full-time.
I don't agree with everything he says but its the hard to get actual information from wrestling organizations.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Bad example on my part.
I admit my mistakes and I just had an argument with a co-worker about Bush's 2nd term being the absolute worst in recent memory

    ReplyDelete
  144. Stay tuned, Rob Ford still has a shot at getting re-elected!

    ReplyDelete
  145. i was there live and it was awesome

    ReplyDelete
  146. Does he still have an actual chance?

    ReplyDelete
  147. Uh..thanks for proving my point? He gets shit on by the crowd as soon as he hits the ring.

    ReplyDelete
  148. As someone who likes/is sympathetic to Bush, I COMPLETELY agree that his 2nd term was a complete waste. The only good thing that happened was his willingness to do the surge in 2007.

    ReplyDelete
  149. All he does is report what his sources tell him in what comprises only a small part of the Observer, and then people on the Internet draw their own conclusions from them. And every report is subject to change since they're happening day-by-day, in real time.

People here laughed when Meltzer said WWE was planning on having Cena and Bray Wyatt wrestle at WrestleMania...and then that's exactly what happened.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Again, those false claims of WMDs were based on intelligence from the CIA and MI6. It's not like they just sat around and cooked up random information. After reading Bush's memoir, it's clear that he knows he screwed up.

I don't think Bush is nearly as bad as people make him out to be. In this highly partisan era he's like the Democrats boogeyman much like Obama is for Republicans. He made some bad decisions on the budget (which led to the rise of the Tea Party) and his second term was a complete waste of space (sort of like what Obama's has turned into). He'll have a greater historical legacy than Obama because his security policies and foreign policies have basically been followed by the Obama team. For better or worse, we really are living in the "Age of Bush" much like the late 20th century was the "Age of Nixon."

  151. One has nothing to do with the other. Vince simply made lofty best-case-scenario predictions that didn't bear fruit. The question is whether or not he intentionally misled investors, which probably won't bear out because he was basing it on data that showed how much Nascar, NBA, etc. got from their rights fees. Vince was wrong in putting WWE on that level.

While the Did You Know segments are manipulated data (for example, the
only time WWE wants wrestling considered a "sport" is when it's #1 on
the Sports DVD charts), they are based in fact.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Well he started two wars that crippled this country with debt and got many people killed. He was fucking terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  153. The Afghan war was completely justified, though. Iraq, clearly not.

    ReplyDelete
  154. I feel we're 2 steps away from "9/11 was an inside job".

    ReplyDelete
  155. If the technology existed I wouldn't be opposed to wwe mashing together the DNA of Davey Boy Smith and The Dynamite Kid and making a test tube superstar. Sure, he's have to spend 18 months in nxt, but I imagine the guy could go in the ring. It's all for entertainment, so ethically there are no concerns. Make it happen, Vince!

    ReplyDelete
  156. Kucinich would have gone after Al Qaeda.

    ReplyDelete
  157. That superstar would have extra horrible mic skills, and would be the meanest ribber in history.

    ReplyDelete
  158. No, I'm sorry -- you're mistaken. The Network can be yours for only $9.99!

...unless you let your subscription end and you're one of those people still getting it for free.

    ReplyDelete
  159. I was thinking a deaf, mute gimmick so who needs promos. Just the cold dead stare of a being with no soul. He just wants to fight.

    ReplyDelete
  160. I don't see how I proved your point...?
    1) Batista gets huge pop when he returns on RAW
    2) Batista gets a big pop when he enters the Rumble, then gets mild boos.
    3) Rey enters the Rumble at #30 to massive boos that went on until Batista wins and probably continued into the parking lots ensuring that Pittsburgh will probably not get another WWE PPV for quite some time.

    ReplyDelete
  161. No soul....like to fight. Sounds kind of like that irish ginger Sheamus.

    ReplyDelete
  162. After watching a lot of 80's WWF, I have come to the conclusion that the Dynamite Kid might have been the single worst promo in the history of wrestling

    ReplyDelete
  163. Well, as I see it, the Taliban was sheltering al-Qaeda and bin Laden, so by proxy they were responsible for their actions. The Taliban were only recognized by 3 countries anyway. The mistake was to divert attention to Iraq and the other was putting too much faith in the cooperation of the Pakistani government. Another mistake was adopting this utopian neoconservative view that all nations are ready for liberal democracy. When I saw that we were going to impose a gender quota on the newly formed Afghan legislature, I knew any hope of a gradual transition there was for naught.

    ReplyDelete
  164. FELLA! FELLA! FELLA!

    ReplyDelete
  165. Are Truthers still a thing?

    ReplyDelete
  166. Everyone gets a Rumble pop. And he didn't even get that noticeable of one. His music drowns out most of the noise and once it stopped, they booed his every move.

  167. TJ: Making of WWE 2k15

    http://www.ign.com/videos/2014/08/29/the-making-of-wwe-2k15-episode-1-a-new-generation-of-wrestling

Interesting enough just to see Cesaro in mocap fucking up a jobber

    ReplyDelete
  168. Ha, well there are still those nut jobs that think 9/11 was done on the inside. Just like Pearl Harbor was too, I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Nope. The DYK? segments are PR 101 and completely legal. They cannot be used to establish a pattern of behavior any more than the same behavior by countless companies in countless industries could be used against them.

Also, those investor lawsuits are barely real. Nothing's gonna come of them.

    ReplyDelete
  170. I don't think you realize we're essentially saying the same thing (except that not everyone gets a Rumble pop-- just ask Rey Mysterio)

    ReplyDelete
  171. It was completely arrogant to think you could make these countries a democracy. What, they were going to get them to change there ways in a few years by invading them after thousands of years in their own beliefs?
This is why Bush is one of the worst.

    ReplyDelete
  172. I always thought subscriptions renewed automatically.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Except possibly lost money for the company in legal fees to fight them.

    ReplyDelete
  174. I still believe in Farva!

    ReplyDelete
  175. They do! For just $9.99!

    ReplyDelete
  176. Batista's return was gonna get shit on regardless because of a confluence of unpredictable factors, but there is no argument to be made that it was a better idea to spoil it than have it be a surprise. By all accounts, the company themselves wanted it to be a surprise and then the advertising dept. had a brainfart and spilled the beans.

    ReplyDelete
  177. He was part of the biggest movie of the summer so I would say he turned out OK.

    ReplyDelete
  178. I just have little desire to get 2k15. Don't have a next gen system (and won't be getting one for a few years - if ever) and I'm tired of these modes where I have to play out a match EXACTLY as it happened. Where's the fun in that? Universe mode is also broken in terms of repetitive storylines, but I guess if it's supposed to be just like its real-life counterpart that it's pretty realistic!

    ReplyDelete
  179. Bush can't be the worse. He gave us Will Ferrell as W.

    ReplyDelete
  180. He could still post, Weekend at Bernie's style.

Remember ATTITUDE WEEK and "some of the greatest episodes of Raw" being added this week. Zero have been added. The schedule for the next day is like... those 3 Monday Night War episodes looped over and over. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  182. Ha, never thought of that. The political bias of comedians is fairly obvious when many of them say there's nothing to parody Obama for.

    ReplyDelete
  183. That was me and I am still waiting

    ReplyDelete
  184. CruelConnectionNumber2August 29, 2014 at 10:23 AM

Play control hasn't been good since WWE Day of Reckoning 2 on Gamecube.

    ReplyDelete
  185. Someone needs to be keeping track of all these Network oversights and such because this stuff is hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  186. Key and Peele do a fine job with Obama.
SNL is just terribly unfunny now

    ReplyDelete
  187. Ummm.... I just had one 35 minute ago! PAY ATTENTION!! *HULK SMASH*

    ReplyDelete
  188. Very true. It's way too easy for me to reverse moves in the current games and the CPU on hard mode is just turning matches into a reversalfest.

    ReplyDelete
  189. Yeah, I haven't watched SNL in a long, long time. I'm just speaking to comedian comments in general. Granted, Bush had great fodder for jokes, but to say the current guy doesn't have much to parody is silly.

    ReplyDelete
  190. CruelConnectionNumber2August 29, 2014 at 10:24 AM

The subscription numbers do that. All the torrent users dumping the Network in late Sept/October is gonna be bad. I'll be one of them!

    ReplyDelete
  191. I love how in your shoot review he calls him a 1/10 promo.

    ReplyDelete
  192. Re-order the Network.

    ReplyDelete
  193. It's not even so much as that type of thing.

It's more first-world problems. Do you close down a city for a warning, and then have every person in that city vote against you? Or do you let it go, and risk an attack, and then get blasted anyways?

These types of things are always "damned if you do, damned if you don't".

Like has the TSA ever actually stopped anything? All that inconvenience for nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  194. I'll take a WWE12 style story mode over these previous replay modes any day.

    ReplyDelete
  195. Some of these WWE fans are whining on other boards that fans need to "pay their fair share" and get the Network so it doesn't get taken away from them. I get a good laugh out of that. Like, as a fan I'm supposed to subsidize their interest?
