These lazy, good-for-nothing thieves that drive around from street to street on your bulky trash pick up day go through your stuff looking for metal to turn in for cash. That trash is put out there by myself and other hard-working folks, and it's my stuff until the city comes to collect it, even though I'm throwing it out. They took my old broken lawn mower, and more than likely walked into my backyard and took my brand new lawn mower.

That's my rant. I have a personal vendetta against these people now, and I won't rest until their scrap-loaded truck is in impound.

  2. .... Are you serious?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Anybody watch The Leftovers on HBO? Just started it, very good

    ReplyDelete
  4. Someone recommend me a good non-fiction book to read after I finish "The Console Wars".

I'm serious. I have never had anything stolen from me before. Time to end someone's "livelihood", ie garbage collecting.

  6. Day/Night live thread double header.

    ReplyDelete
  7. That show is so good.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I re-read that, if they stole your new lawnmower, then ok, but complaining about someone taking an item on the curb that you were looking to throw out? really?

    ReplyDelete
  9. In case anyone is clicking on the thread and thinking "oh there's UFC tonight, maybe I should go to a bar/find a perfectly legal viewing alternative" don't even bother. It's the single worst card of the Zuffa era. There's a halfway decent boxing card on Showtime tonight, just watch that instead.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'm intrigued by it. one guy with nothing to lose against an unknown quantity isn't the worst matchup in the world.

  11. Stranger in the AlpsAugust 30, 2014 at 5:10 PM

Hey, that's just how I feel. I'm kind of angry right now, so I say some shit that might sound ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Today is one of those personal stands against watered down events. This shouldn't have been a PPV card even if Barao made it onto the scale safely. I know Dana can't cancel a 2nd PPV card in a year, especially in the Northern California market that he's trying to protect but this is just not something anyone should spend money on.

    ReplyDelete
  13. UFC's PPV cards have been laughable.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I get that logic, but how is this any different form illegally streaming an indy event where you know maybe 1 guy, but could get some surprises?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I usually defend them because most of the time their bad cards are due to horrible luck. Their promotion couldn't have had worse luck with main eventers and money players in the past 3 years, it's just not possible.

This card even with the bad luck of Barao almost killing himself to make weight was just a bad idea to begin with and should never have been promoted.

    ReplyDelete
  16. The RIse And Fall Of The Third Reich.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'd say it's safe to say that the boom period is over. But hey, Dana racked in several billions during said boom period, so I'm sure he will be just fine.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yeah I get that. Generally the cards with nothing on them have at least one crazy fight because Dana likes to give out bigger than normal locker room bonuses just in the hopes that someone will go out there and kill themselves for our amusement.

But I mean they're promoting a card with Ferguson/Castillo as the co-main. That's just unforgivable.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm trying to get my draft order set for fantasy tomorrow. Decisions, decisions.

    ReplyDelete
  20. The asking prices for these PPVs are insane. I wouldn't even watch this card for free.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Seriously though, who steals a lawnmower?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I also think Souled Out 98 should get more love. Awesome Benoit-Raven brawl, fun cruiserweight tag match and although disappointing due to circumstances, Jericho-Mysterio and Bret-Flair were good, too. Nothing really stood out as bad to me on that one

    ReplyDelete
  23. RB, RB, RB, QB, WR, WR, TE, QB, RB, WR, K, D

    ReplyDelete
  24. Keeper? Legacy? Also, PPR?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thanks. It's kinda a bitch, because I probably won't be around for the draft itself (guy changed the time today).

    ReplyDelete
  26. It's not even like they're completely screwed. Back up the Brinks truck to Montreal and get GSP to fight Hendricks with all the goofy roid testing rules he wants and you've got 750k PPV buys minimum, probably closer to 1m.
If Jon Jones makes it through Cormier and agrees to fight Gus again, you're looking at another 750k buys minimum. It might also take another truck of money to get that fight to happen, but hey.
Really as long as Jon Jones makes it through Cormier his next fight is doing 500k minimum. Rumble, Phil Davis, etc. All are really attractive fights. If he feels his oats and moves up to HW you're looking at more great numbers.
Cain's cards will all draw when he gets healthy. Same with Ronda.

UFC's problem isn't like WWE where they didn't make new stars, they made some actual drawing stars, they just can't get 2 stars to agree to fight each other and not blow out an ACL before getting in the cage. It's a shame.

    ReplyDelete
  27. If WWE used the same numbering for their PPVs since their infancy, what number would they be at now? WWE 274?

    ReplyDelete
  28. They once had a New Year's card with Paul Daley on the co-main. And Gilbert Yvel as a jobber for a pre-fame JDS on the PPV card. This was before they even had the over-saturation. So yeah, that was a thing.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The Bible...oh sorry you said NON fiction.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Watched episode 1... didn't hook me enough to keep going.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Jones-Cormier is going to do over a million buys. They'll be fine I think. I mean it's not like their buy rates are so bad that they have to pull their shows from PPV and start their own network.

    Motherfucking lowlifes, that's who.

  35. Just found a half bottle of Bacardi, made myself a rum and coke. Ugh. Found out I'm still not a rum guy.

UFC? Didn't they have 2 shows a week ago?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 30, 2014 at 5:25 PM

I can't drink rum, gives me a bad headache. See also: wine.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm sure someone could figure it out but I'm pretty sure they did at least 150 PPV cards just in the 2000 decade. They were running 16 a year there for awhile.

    ReplyDelete
  39. How many IYH PPV were there and what years did they run?

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'd say UFC's had it far worse because of camp/other issues, like Jackson guise not fighting each other, or GSP not stepping up to 185(Ditto Silva to 205). The problem with booking a non-worked sport is that just because theres a fight people want to see doesn't mean the fighters want to be involved in it, due tot he increased risk. Also, some of these injuries could be intentional, a la Shamrock/Slice.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Paul Meekin is in the hospital. That's all I'm gonna say.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Or 'A Walk In The Woods', also by Bryson.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Dammit people, STOP TRYING TO CROSS THE FREEWAY WHILST DRUNK!

    ReplyDelete
  44. No idea. That's all I've heard so far. Stay tune for more details!

  46. 100: King of The Ring 1999
    200: Vengeance 2006
    300: Survivor Series 2013

Night of Champions would be WWE 310.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Is that including UK PPVs and Closed Circuit shows?

    ReplyDelete
  48. This UFC card tonight is a train wreck on paper. So of course it'll deliver some good fights. But it's gonna tank on PPV.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Are you his FB friend? Is that how you found out?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 30, 2014 at 5:29 PM

I believe Badd Blood 97 was the last one. So about 18 or so.

    ReplyDelete
  51. It's never too soon to save the life of a drunken strip club aficionado.

    ReplyDelete
  52. What pick do you have? RB, WR, WR, best player available

    ReplyDelete
  53. Can't really follow a set order like that. Never know who is going to be there.

    ReplyDelete
  54. (Vince Russo voice) I gotta be honest with you, bro. I don't know, man. It's the manager of the league. He hasn't told me a thing. He's really getting in my way, bro. I'm tired of the bullshit of the politics.

Serious answer: Not sure, it's through NFL.com, if that helps.

    ReplyDelete
  55. The order hasn't been determined yet.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Any Jimmy Johns commercial without Brock Lesnar is a FAIL.

    ReplyDelete
  57. This show kind of marks the last hurrah for me as a crazy, diehard wrestling fan that followed EVERYTHING and it's a hell of a show to go out on.

    ReplyDelete
  58. DDP: the right combination of working his ass off and knowing the right people. He deserved a run with the strap and didn't do any worse than Nash, frankly.

    ReplyDelete
  59. So Sleazy E was ok?

    ReplyDelete
  60. i loved Hollywood "SCUM!" Hogan lol

    ReplyDelete
  61. One of my favourite PPVs ever and a great fucking finish. Don't understand why people have a problem with DDP winning the big one on this show - it was overdue if anything. He was one of the most over people on the roster and had worked fucking hard for the previous 4 years.

    ReplyDelete
  62. After the...40 pounds I'm now down weight wise I want ddp to retroactively win any and all wrestling titles ever

    ReplyDelete
  63. This show killed my friend's watching of WCW, because of a promise he made if DDP winning the Title. I definitely remember those awesome tag matches with the Horsemen, Saturn and Raven, though.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Had Nash attempted that leapfrog two or three years later, he'd have torn one or both quads.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Right there with you. Other then Riggs-Whipwreck, one of my favorite top to bottom WCW shows.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Ah the day wcw live attendance fell apart and never recovered. Where to even start. DDP was at his lowest point of popularity ever. He should have gotten a shot in 98. His act had worn tired and crowds turned him heel. As usual with wcw, his character had gotten totally confusing. He was a face one nitro and them the next nitro he had turned heel. Then he would be a face on the next nitro challenging Steiner. Whatever. This was also when the nwo dissolved for good until Russo reintroduced them at the end of the year. Just simply so confusing for the fans during this period.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Strawberry is Konnan slang for "homo". He's mentioned this many times on his podcast.

  68. MaffewOfBotchamaniaAugust 31, 2014 at 3:52 AM

    1. So what was the deal with Hogan's injury? I thought he faked it.
    2. ''Strawb'' is a British term for shit wrestler, funnily enough.

    ReplyDelete
  69. 1) I thought Hogan's injury was legit.
    2) I think DDP getting the belt was fine. Sure it should have been a little sooner and should not have been a long reign, but the concept was fine.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I know it's not a good match, but at the time I didn't mind it because I was all "hey, look! Mikey's on PPV!"

    ReplyDelete
  71. WCW was just innovating the insane face/heel booking that WWE uses to this day (especially with Kane and Big Show)

    ReplyDelete
  72. I haven't been dieting like I should (in less than 2 weeks, I have a nerdathon with some visiting friends where we'll be drinking and eating and drinking and drinking and playing games -- I'll be getting serious after that), but even with that, I lost like 5 pounds in a week just eating reasonably and doing the Energy workout like 5 times in that week.

Looking at some of the other workouts, I could probably do the fat burner about 2 weeks after I start back up, but the Diamond Cutter looks ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Yes indeed. Souled Out 98 was WCW's best PPV that year.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I dug his match with Kidman at Uncensored.
