RAW THREAD

No sign of Princess so let's set this up.  We got Cena/Wyatt tonight, as well as a Hall of Fame Forum.

Come out swinging, but keep it clean.

Comments

  1. Time for a marathon.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Didn't mean to step on your toes, Princess. I thought maybe you were out for the night... my bad.

Oh my God, the vet wants anywhere from 1,200 - 2,000 for dental work on a rotted tooth in my wife's cat. Apparently it is causing the cat quite a bit of pain.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I wonder if they'll have Cena destroy Bray in under 5 minutes or so to make him look all rugged and tough and ready for another battle with Brock.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Human dental work costs 1/3rd of that.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Time to do it yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 25, 2014 at 5:41 PM

This is on top of the $500 that we just spent, to RECEIVE that news.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Am I in the minority if I don't believe the Cena feud hurt Bray Wyatt all that much?

    ReplyDelete
  9. THe only thing Bischoff proved was that he got lucky with one angle and one start. He ripped off the angle, and apparently, Sullivan had quite a bit to do with creating Goldberg's "mystique."

    In short, fuck that guy.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 25, 2014 at 5:41 PM

Based on my anecdotal experience, yes.

    ReplyDelete
  11. No, but I think the feud with Jericho has hurt him more.

    ReplyDelete
  12. There will be a BoD Raw card tonight. I sent three matches to Bayless, one is a C-List defense, one is Stackhouse against a mystery opponent in a Felony Assault Match(Or in other words, an Archie Stackhouse singles match), and theres a tournament for the Writer's Title with one match being Andy v Darren. It should be awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  13. What? No match with me losing, about which you run smack at me and I don't care?

    Bah.

    Where's my fucking ice cream....

    ReplyDelete
  14. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 25, 2014 at 5:43 PM

Does it? I don't even know as that's covered by my health insurance.

I wonder if I can get the damned cat listed as a dependent.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Didn't help him as much as it should have, and even *I*, a Wyatt mark, didn't like the Jericho feud.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I think Bischoff is valuable from a big picture standpoint and for a show's presentation, but I don't think he really offers any value as a booker/creative member.

    ReplyDelete
  17. No biggie Andy :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. I feel your pain. I've had to deal with dental work on felines. However, my wife was a vet tech at one point, and she thinks this might be out of line in terms of cost, depending on what all has to be done. You could try another vet or two.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Didn't hurt him or help him. He's exactly in the same place he was a year ago.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Bayless is writing the other stuff. He keeps it sealed because hes worried I'll leak finishes to the dirtsheets as part of a political ploy to perform a hostile takeover of the show so I can make myself the Super BoD Super Champion and cut shoot promos on the Top 5ers.

BUT THAT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN. HONEST.

    ReplyDelete
  21. YOu have been shaken upsidedown, sir. Kindly skulk off. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  22. I had a root canal done last year and I think I paid like $800-$900 out of pocket. I also had a tooth removed last year and paid like $200 or something.

    ReplyDelete
  23. My last night as a WWE Network subscriber. *Sniff*

    ReplyDelete
  24. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 25, 2014 at 5:46 PM

Yeah, I will. I've just been advised via telephone by my wife and I don't know exactly what procedure(s) are being recommended.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I would definitely shop around. That's a little high unless there's some major nerve damage.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 25, 2014 at 5:46 PM

    That sounds much more reasonable.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Is Cincinnati big on Affirmative Action? I'm trying to understand why Marvin Lewis still has a job as their coach.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Well...except that between then and now, he has a clean win over DBry, which they seem to have wasted.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yeah he would. Clearly he was the reason for WCW's success and shares no blame for its downfall. Its all the fault of those goddamn dirtsheets, even though he admits they have no influence on the business. Whaddya mean, hypocrisy? HES ERIC FUCKING BITCHOFF!

    ReplyDelete
  30. This reminds me of how the NFL recycles the same coaches over and over again. With pro wrestling it's like people will continue giving Russo and Bischoff chance after chance because they have experience, when there has to be tons of new names who could do just as well or better.

    ReplyDelete
  31. You have to factor in that the cat will be knocked out, which ain't cheap. If you or she trust the vet, go with it. If not, shop around.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 25, 2014 at 5:47 PM

"What's the general opinion on Bischoff around here? Right guy at the right time? Visionary? Someone that lit a fire under Vince's ass?"

I look at him as a guy that's great at the promotion side of thinks, but not so great at the booking side. Call him the anti-Heyman, I guess, though I feel Heyman is the most overrated booker ever.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Because Cincinatti has had unrealized potential for over a decade.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 25, 2014 at 5:47 PM

Who's out there that's any better?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yeah because he didn't follow it up with another big win.

Had he went over Cena at WM then you've got DB's first major challenger for the belt instead of him getting paralyzed by Kane.

    So once again...It's Kane fault.

    ReplyDelete
  36. They might be... they have a freggin' ginger as their QB and everyone knows gingers are horrendous athletes.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Well, it's kind of late getting a coach now.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Losing in the wild card round every year >>> going 3-13 every year.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Except this is different, because certain coaches can get the most out of certain groups of NFL personnel, and theres 32 job openings. Far fewer in wrestling.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Reorder!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think will the right coach, Dalton could be really good.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I don't think Heyman was that great of a booker. I'm curious to see what he would do now, if given the chance, and if he was interested. From what he sadi on a podcast, he just does what we see on cam, and offers advice to talent if asked. That's it.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Mike Brown is cheap and really if you're going to fire a guy that went 11-5 you better win a Super Bowl the following year.

    ReplyDelete
  44. As a dolphins fan, LOL

    ReplyDelete
  45. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 25, 2014 at 5:49 PM

Yeah, he did great the first time he was in the NFL.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Easy...Mike Brown is too big of a cheap ass to fire him. They should have canned him and promoted Zimmer, but whatever.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Many Bengals fans were traumatized by the awful years of the 1990s. I remember as a kid that it was a big deal that they went 6-10 or 7-9 with Boomer Esiason back at QB.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Just like Belichick.

    ReplyDelete
  49. That has more to do with talent than coaching. He has a lot of talented teams and his coaching decisions has blown a ton of meaningful games.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Oh shit my subscription expires on the 27th

    ReplyDelete
  51. IF you don't subscribe, you aren't a TRUE wrestling fan. You're just a PIRATE and therefore have no right to complain even though you sacrifice chunks of your finite life to not be entertained by music distractions.

    MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARK

    ReplyDelete
  52. Pete Carroll is a better rebuttal.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Bischoff brought Hogan in and turned him heel which were both great. Both were good for business but the overkill did home in.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I bet we'll hear a ton of $9.99 tonight with the sub period looming.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I sweat to pink monkey jeebus, if Ambrose does vignettes where he's in Cleveland, I'm out.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Isn't it $59.94?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Summation of Brie & Nikki feud:

    YOU'RE a towel!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 25, 2014 at 5:51 PM

Well, Belichick learned how to cheat.

Actually, given how corrupt NCAA coaches are, you might be on to something here. But for the most part college coaching doesn't translate to the pro game. It might as well be 2 different sports.

    ReplyDelete
  59. But what if hes training there to gain a new finish to hospitalize Rollins with?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Too bad the company fired Paul Burchill or they could have let this play out!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Oh yeah, Belichick learned how to cheat when he went undefeated up until the Superbowl.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I think Heyman was a good booker but I don't think there's enough evidence to declare him a God like a lot of people tend to do. That said, the amount of respect guys like Mick Foley and Steve Austin have for his creativeness does mean something.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Unless it involves that river catching on fire again, no.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Hey I saw him leaving work...

    ReplyDelete
  65. That can be overlooked if you can guarantee a baseline of 9-10 wins a year, especially for a moribund franchise like Cincinnati was. Look at guys like Andy Reid & Lovie Smith. Both those guys will get jobs in the NFL for as long as they want them despite having the same flaws as Lewis

    ReplyDelete
  66. I generally agree with that although Harbaugh has had good success in SF and Carroll has obviously turned things around in Seattle. I don't even think Saban would be a lock as a great NFL head coach, I just wanted to say "Hail Saban".

    ReplyDelete
  67. RAW is up against the Emmy's tonight..

    ReplyDelete
  68. Money>Time

    ReplyDelete
  69. When you look at Heyman's ECW roster, though, you had guys that likely would have never reached the heights they did without him putting them with the right character. He has a great ability to play to a guy's strength and disguise weaknesses. That doesn't make him unique, but the fact he was able to keep ECW afloat for as long as he did with WCW poaching its talent says something.

    ReplyDelete
  70. This has been a historically awful day. I really hope WWE delivers something entertaining

    ReplyDelete
  71. "Oh sister where art thou?" they really put that on the screen. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Well, expect bad camera work. Kevin Dunn will be in a pissy mood that he's not there.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Sorry :(

    ReplyDelete
  74. Well, I'm not blaming Kane, mainly because I don't harbor the hatred most of the BoD has. But, yes, Bray should have gone over Cena and then been first to DBry. Shit. They didn't even hardly mention Team Hell No with Kane & Bryan. Lame.

I blame booking. and creative. Maybe Vinson. Just because.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 25, 2014 at 5:54 PM

I don't think so. Difference between his two runs is that the first time he had shit players, second time he has good players. If Carroll coached the Bills last year I doubt their record would have changed much.

I guess what I'm saying is that coaches don't matter as much as people think. Yeah, a shitty coach will kill a team, but if the talent isn't there it really doesn't matter.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Belichick was one lucky catch away from being the first coach to ever go 19-0. But yeah, spygate lol.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Historically awful? Did Obama hydrobomb Ferguson?

    ReplyDelete
  78. Stardust Interview: Holy crap is it awesome.

  79. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 25, 2014 at 5:56 PM

Even though I'm a 49ers fan, Buffalo law says I have to shit all over Belichick any time his name his mentioned.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Sincerest condolences to you and yours, sir.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I'm sorry to hear that buddy...Condolences to you and your family.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I'm still mad that the Pats didn't go 19-0. Not that I'm a huge fan of theirs, but I just wanted to see it.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 25, 2014 at 5:57 PM

"He has a great ability to play to a guy's strength and disguise weaknesses."

To me that's the ONLY thing he has going for him.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I love people who bring up Spygate. Only if Belichick just had spygate David Tyree doesn't make a lucky catch. The reason the Patriots haven't a Superbowl since 2004 has merely been because of the lack of great defensive players. Besides, everyone was using spygate until 2006. Their was a memo sent out to stop doing it. The Patriots just didn't listen and got caught.

    ReplyDelete
  85. USO Crazy!

    ...goddammit...

I'd be happier if you guys were grunting and munching on turkey legs.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Definitely. I think in general, it also indicates the guy had (has?) a great ability to find valuable underused/unexposed talent.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Before Vince revealed it was him ALL ALONG, AUSTIN, who did you think the Higher Power was going to be?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 25, 2014 at 5:57 PM

Me too, because fuck the 74 (?) Dolphins.

    ReplyDelete
  89. My contract negotiations fell through at the last moment. :(

    ReplyDelete
  90. I also think the Patriots need a more effective running attack. They get into these weird games constantly where they have a late lead but can't just run down the clock because they are passing so much.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Damn. I am unable to smack my tv. I will have to watch wrestling. on the net.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I actually expected it to be Vince. I had Russo down cold by that point.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I hate how people keep using "-gate" as a suffix for every major and minor scandal.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Stranger in the AlpsAugust 25, 2014 at 5:58 PM

You were, what...21? That would have been.....something.

    ReplyDelete
  95. They were scared to give the ball back to the offense against their patchwork defense in a 2 minute situation. So, they tried running the ball. This year, if the defense holds up, they can rely more on Brady throwing.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I was hoping that it was going to be Bret Hart, though.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Bischoff deserves a lot of credit. He got too big for his britches and tried to do too much, way more than he was qualified for -- but he had a lot of strengths too that you need to be a successful wrestling promoter.

People always talk about the nWo, but his best idea was really Nitro. WCW had tried to be a traditional promotion for such a long time and just bled money in so many different areas (live event ticket sales especially). He switched it up to ensure they played to their strengths until they made some money -- their biggest asset was their association with a big, popular network. Nitro was really the first WCW show to actually look first-rate and had an air of possibility to it that made people excited to watch wrestling again. He never learned how to balance the other areas of the business and morph them into a traditional model once they started making money, but the whole concept of Nitro was an idea that changed wrestling dramatically as an industry.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Just another example of the historical legacy of Richard Nixon!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 25, 2014 at 6:00 PM

My condolences, I've had a few in the past year or so too.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Stranger in the AlpsAugust 25, 2014 at 6:00 PM

I struggle to remember what I was doing at 21.

I wasn't wearing thick hooded robes, however.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I was just entering into marriage #1

    ReplyDelete
  102. Oh already for fuck's sake.

    ReplyDelete
  103. This idea could plummet.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Oh shit HBK!!!!,!

    ReplyDelete
  105. Stranger in the AlpsAugust 25, 2014 at 6:01 PM

Well, holy crap. I was probably testing out my blood-alcohol limit since the legal drinking age was 19 back then.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Hey Terry is back to remind us of 9.99

    ReplyDelete
  107. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 25, 2014 at 6:02 PM

How'd she/he pass, if you don't mind me asking?

    ReplyDelete
  108. They don't even use it right. Like if you didn't know any better, you'd think Watergate had something to do with water.

    ReplyDelete
  109. See, this would be perfectly somewhat kind of acceptable on the network. On RAW, unless I get completely surprised, this will be awful.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Damn the perfectly legal TV channel I usually use for RAW has gone out of business

    ReplyDelete
  111. This has train wreck written all over it.

    ReplyDelete
  112. HBK should oversell Hogan's promos.

    ReplyDelete
  113. HB Shizzle will never be his name.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I think I'm cute...I know I'm chunky....

Yeah, that's right. PIcture Hoss groving a la HBK...

    ReplyDelete
  115. So can we officially retire the "Cena was so special to agree to being
destroyed like that by Lesnar" bit, considering the fact that he's getting a
panel of Hall of Famers to repeat over and over what a brave hero he
    was in the effort?

    ReplyDelete
  116. It sounds freakin' stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  117. God damn you Snoop for the "Izzle" shit...

    ReplyDelete
  118. Yeah, I don't get that - are they saying his name is HB Shit?

    ReplyDelete
  119. "Our esteemed Hall Of Fame panel... and Ric Flair"

    ReplyDelete
  120. Uh, WHY lead off RAW with this? This is something to put on the damn Network. Again, if you buy tickets to RAW you are a moron.

    ReplyDelete
  121. This is so fucking stupid.

    ReplyDelete

  124. Stranger in the AlpsAugust 25, 2014 at 6:04 PM

Do you need a replacement TV channel? I have one.

    ReplyDelete
  125. They are smart to get Naitch out there early before he hits the hooch

    ReplyDelete
  126. How many world titles in the ring? 16 for Naitch and 4 for HBK, how many did Hogan win again 12?

    ReplyDelete
  127. And I'm out. See ya next week guys.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 25, 2014 at 6:04 PM

However, he did contribute "bee-otch", so there's that...

    ReplyDelete
  129. They should just make these three the commentary team and let the fun begin. It can't be worse than King/Cole/JBL.

    ReplyDelete
  130. JBL...shouldn't mention repelling into the ring and Bret Hart in the same sentence

    ReplyDelete
  131. Imagine how dofferent things would be if the 1972 DNC had been located in a hotel called the gamecock.

    ReplyDelete
  132. He was very old and his health had seriously declined recently so it was only a matter of time... then he died in his sleep sometime last night.

    ReplyDelete
  133. It's not even 20 minutes OF Cena talking, it's 20 minutes talking ABOUT Cena.

    ReplyDelete
  134. CruelConnectionNumber2August 25, 2014 at 6:05 PM

who the fuck cares about dudes TALKING, this is so lame. How about some wrestling matches and compelling storylines

    ReplyDelete
  135. This is completely awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Negative. I decided to watch from the VIP Box, but thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  137. WWE: What we do is fake, until we want to treat it like a sport and then you are supposed to think its real!

  142. Shane Douglas: I'm the REAL franchise!

    ReplyDelete
  143. We'll get that in a half hour and it'll get recapped 4 more times.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Topic: is John Cena a great World champion, or the GREATEST World champion?

    ReplyDelete
  145. I hope Lesnar beats him WORSE the next time, if the Rocky story is to take hold.

    ReplyDelete
  146. This is an extension of the pre-game Network show.

    ReplyDelete
  147. You'd think they would remember when this type of thing bombed during the Rock/Cena build.

    ReplyDelete
  148. You all realize Cena is overcoming the odds correct?

    ReplyDelete
  149. Hmm, HBK's been more or less a heel for the last year

    ReplyDelete
  150. To see Shawn wrestle? Sure. To see him just talk? No way.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Ric should have done some simple heeling there "He is a 15 time world champion... I am a 16 time champ but W/E NBD"

    ReplyDelete
  152. I have no energy to even complain anymore

    ReplyDelete
  153. I was seriously annoyed by that. If it was wrestling, I would have been bitching about the booking.

    ReplyDelete
  154. We got it, Cena Is The Biggest Underdog Who Ever Underdogged. People thought this build was going to be any different because Cena got beat down hard the first time?

    ReplyDelete
  155. This is a trainwreck.

    ReplyDelete
  156. "Everybody likes John Cena." ROFL

    ReplyDelete
  157. I wish my wives would have developed that condition.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Lol Shawn is a dick.

    ReplyDelete
  159. For fun, they should have brought all the living hall of famers they could round up so they could all verbally fellate Cena one after the other.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Hi. Is something going to actually happen?

    ReplyDelete
  161. What, you really need to ask ask?

    Because fuck you. That's why.

Brock is actually 4-1 in televised singles matches versus John Cena.

    ReplyDelete
  164. hulk is gonna be creed

    ReplyDelete
  165. You never put three egomaniacs in the ring at the same time. They're just gonna talk other each other.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Do we have a new Poochie now? Even Big Sexy wouldn't book this level of adulation.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Talk segments are already lame to begin with, but scripting a First Take-style segment just comes off as lame.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Guess 2002-2003 never happened. ..

    ReplyDelete
  169. I appreciate it. I'll keep that in mind if this one (my perfectly legal TV channel) bombs out though.

    ReplyDelete
  170. WHAT IS UP WITH THE DAMN HAND TOWEL!?!?!

And way to show no ill effects of the SummerSlam beating.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Shut up complainers this is awesome.

  173. Because everyone with an IQ below 80 loves First Take and ESPN programming

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  183. We at the USA network want a wrestler with attitude. He's edgy, he's "in your face." You've heard the expression, "let's get busy"? Well, this is a wrestler who gets "biz-zay!" Consistently and thoroughly.

    ReplyDelete
  184. If Lesnar comes out and destroys all four guys, I will become a lifelong fan.

I may also cream a little...
