The evening thread will be up, well....this evening. Here's a catch-all thread for whatever it is you're watching/doing today.

  1. I wish this asshole would shut the fuck off and get out of here. Nothing like being ear-raped by some self-important shit.

  2. Once I saw they put all the curtain jerkers on at noon I decided to workout instead. I'll be back at 3:30 if anyone feels like jawing about UGA-Clemson. I'm a Carolina guy so they both can stick it brother

  3. Real life, here at the store. He just will NOT shut up.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I made the comment that 2002 reminded me of 2014. Great talent, shit writing.

    ReplyDelete
  5. oh. Thought you were referring to someone here til the ear-rape part.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Not at all. Now it's his former girlfriend/wife/whatever. I just cannot bring myself to give even the smallest fuck.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Apparently Jake has a brain abnormality, whatever that means. Also, I was checking out Ted DiBiase's twitter, what an awful human being he is.

    ReplyDelete
  13. More Simpsons for me today....

    ReplyDelete
  14. Spend the entire date criticizing his workrate and rest holds, and tell her she's a dumb bitch for liking someone whose star ratings are not as high as Tyson kidd. You'll totally get coitus at the end of the night.

  15. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarAugust 30, 2014 at 12:13 PM

Oh, I knew that. Was wondering if he said something specific about Jake.

    ReplyDelete
  16. "Just heard @JakeSnakeDDT is hospitalized with pneumonia and week immune system. Please pray for Jake."

    ReplyDelete
  17. Just the usual useless pray for him stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I saw that as well. They are saying it's some sort of callous caused by years of bumps. So far they aren't thinking it's serious. Something that he has lived with for a very long time. It's the double pneumonia that they are worried about.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Is that marathon still going?

    ReplyDelete
  20. retweeted an article about his condition

    ReplyDelete
  21. when she texted me that her fav is orton, before that she wrote "please don't judge me"

    ReplyDelete
  22. I bet it's a result of him stuffing 18 $100 bills down his throat 25 years prior.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Ninja Turtles or Thundercats?

    ReplyDelete
  24. ninja turtles now or then?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I want to say Thundercats, but it went to shit once they introduced those extra characters.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Weird because he wasn't really a bumper. Except for rails.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Definitely the classic late 80's version

    ReplyDelete
  28. Orton is probably the smoothest wrestler they have. If only he knew how to put together a match.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I believe it ends this coming Tuesday.

    ReplyDelete
  30. of course 80s ninja turtles;
if you said now, anything over the current one

    ReplyDelete
  31. she's also a paul heyman girl

    ReplyDelete
  32. I see. It effectively ended on about moday though reallly.

    ReplyDelete
  33. just read a ton of his texts. None I would really call out of line. Keep in mind I am not a conservative or a christian (I'm agnostic and a libertarian).

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yep. They are on day 8 of 12

    ReplyDelete
  35. So "Lines" are called "Bumps" now?

    ReplyDelete
  36. I just watched The Expendables for the first time and now I am watching The Expendables 2... this is basically like Hollywood action movie fantasy booking... except real.

    ReplyDelete
  37. So I'm very excited about the ucla football team this year and first possibly great team since my freshman year 16 years ago.
What would you do to have your team win the title? (UCLA hasn't won the national title since 1954 nor had a shot at it since 1998).

this is first female I have had a date with that's a wrestling fan since 1999

    ReplyDelete
  40. This. I spent all day with family yesterday and they are having a BBQ today to which I declined as I just really need to be away from them for a while.

Also I found the whole thing very bazaar the way everyone acted like it was just a normal day or some shit afterwards. Maybe I am weird IDK.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wait until Memphis kicks your ass next week

    ReplyDelete
  42. She isn't really a wrestling fan if Orton is her favorite... she fund out you were a wrestling fan and tried to learn about it so she could relate to you (which means she is interested) and she remembered Orton because he is dreamy.

I'll say Ninja Turtles, but I would have liked if the Thundercats reboot from a few years ago would have lasted a little longer.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Stallone is booking dream matches. He booked Balboa vs LaMotta. The may be cheesy as hell but how can you not love the guy for them. Could they be better sure... but Austin v Hogan probably wouldn't have been 5 stars either.

    ReplyDelete
  59. ESPN's chromecast app is pretty sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Do any of you truly care if Michael Sam makes the Rams or not?
If he makes it, ESPN will say it is a great day. If he doesn't, ESPN will say it's a travesty. It's worse than the Tebow/Favre coverage.
I hope he gets in on his merit but don't really care about a 7th rounder. Bradford getting injured is 1000x more important to the Rams season.

    ReplyDelete
  61. This dude doing the color for the Pitt/Delaware game legit sounds exactly like George W Bush. It's hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Totally agree. Its cool that he is using his money/stature to do all the stuff that a lot of fans probably talk about (and actors for that matter) wanting to see. I find it very cool... and the 1980's style action move is a lost art that needs to be kept alive anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  63. It's a big deal if he makes it.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Ah, so here I was trying to make a clever joke, but it turns out that the joke wrote itself!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 30, 2014 at 12:46 PM

So I've got this friend. He's a really nice guy, but totally inept socially, particularly with women. He's had a couple of girlfriends in his life, but no female contact of any note whatsoever in at least 5 years or so. He's got some hygiene issues too, which doesn't help his cause at all.

He meets this chick in a bar, and she actually talks to him, and this is a borderline miracle. He immediately starts showering her with gifts, and spending all of his available money on her. She is receptive to his gifts, but generally pretty cool towards him, and it seems pretty obvious that she's not interested in a romantic thing with him.

A couple of weeks into this arrangement, her 3 year old son is diagnosed with leukemia.

She has to immediately spend a week in Sick Kids with him, loses her low-paying job over it, and is now resourceless. Neither her family, nor the boy's father are worth mentioning as far as support of any kind goes.

My friend, who works a low paying job and lives in poverty himself, steps up, and sells virtually everything that he owns to give her money. No romantic relationship of any kind is in place.

One night he gets drunk and calls her to tell her that he loves her. She shuts him down entirely and says she never wanted to be more than friends. He's crushed, like crushed-crushed.

A week passes, and she contacts him and says that she's sorry and is lucky to know someone like him. This was a few weeks ago, and he continues to funnel virtually all of his money to her, skipping bill payments of his own, and speaking as if he has a true obligation to support them. No romantic relationship of any kind exists, and in fact he very rarely sees her in person, but they do text each other a lot.

He describes himself as "head over heels" for her, and "never been so in love with any girl." I asked him if a romantic relationship is developing, and he says "no, but she's not fucking anyone else either so I think if I help her through these hard times then she'll fall in love with me."

I have personally never seen a romantic relationship develop this way. I am very sympathetic to the girl's situation, I can't even imagine going through that, and alone to boot, but my friend is absolutely seeking romance and I see only massive, consuming disappointment in his future, coupled with the loss of all of his possessions, and with creditors chasing him.

Is there anything that I can do about this? I really don't want to see him any further in the gutter than he is now. Flip side, am I being too cynical? Is there any hope that he will find a happy ending in this?

I know, tl;dr, and I don't blame you at all.

    Turtles.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Hate to be 'that guy', but does her story check out? I know someone who got burned, and the story was quite similar.

    ReplyDelete
  70. a woman knows within like 10 seconds whether she would sleep with a guy or not. It is almost impossible to get out of the friend zone. He should stop giving her money and just be a friend. Best case: he has a new friend. Worst case: he is flat out broke and pining for someone he will never get

    ReplyDelete
  71. I'm sorry, but your "friend" is a fool.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 30, 2014 at 12:52 PM

This is exactly as I see it.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 30, 2014 at 12:53 PM

Unfortunately I agree. But that doesn't help him, or me.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 30, 2014 at 12:54 PM

If you're implying that I'm actually talking about myself, I am not.

That dude needs to take a shower and find someone new.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 30, 2014 at 12:54 PM

I think so. I've never met the boy, but my friend has and once visited her in the hospital (unannounced and uninvited.) But it was to surprise her with money, so it went over ok.

    ReplyDelete
  77. How does that make him a jerk, though? Haven't read his other tweets (I'm not a fan of twatter in the least) , but don't quite get how praying for someone sick who may be dying makes someone a jerk. Again, though, I didn't read his other tweets

For what it's worth, I have a strong belief in God, but I do think organized religion is a sham, but not willing to start THAT discussion lol,

    ReplyDelete
  78. I didn't realise this was going to be so funny until the leukemia part. Well done

    ReplyDelete
  79. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 30, 2014 at 12:55 PM

I'm definitely not out money, just looking out for a guy who's not really good at looking out for himself, but who has been a very good friend to me for a number of years.

    Thank you for your contribution.

    ReplyDelete

    Funny is my thing.

    ReplyDelete
  83. It's a joke dude. But serious answer, doing all that to get laid is retarded. But if it was my best friend going through all that, I'd help in a heartbeat.

    ReplyDelete
  84. No. If he can play, he can play.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I wasn't referring to the prayer for Jake when I called him an awful human being. Just in general.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 30, 2014 at 12:58 PM

Yeah, I think that's about it. Gonna be a hard road though.

    Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Jim Powers' run for me was hilarious, especially when Teddy Long became his manager. The "Mothaship" would always talk about how great Long was as a motivator. Sure, his clients all kept losing every week... but, dammit... they felt BETTER about themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  88. You summed it up perfectly.

    ReplyDelete
  89. If somebody is doing it just to get laid, they deserve to get ripped off. If they're doing it out of the kindness of their heart to help someone in need, well, more power to them. World needs more people like that.

    Just my two cents.

    ReplyDelete
  90. That's why I liked the 2nd one more than the first. The first showed Stallone is a horrible action director

    ReplyDelete
  91. Adam "Colorado" CurryAugust 30, 2014 at 1:01 PM

So the Bills signed Kyle Orton. Bet he plays in more games than EJ does.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Nothing you can do but be there for him when it eventually comes crashing down.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 30, 2014 at 1:01 PM

Well, it's sort of both. He is very genuinely concerned about her plight.

    ReplyDelete
  94. and it hurts inside?

    ReplyDelete
  95. So why did he walk away from Dallas? He had a cushy backup job where he wasn't going to be asked to do anything.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Love his claim that you have to see the director's cut. I pointed out that the movie wasn't great because of how the fight scenes were poorly shot.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I can't stand when QBs who have failed multiple times keep getting chance after chance after chance. When one that succeeded in his one and only real chance is never given another chance again, because he's sub par technically in practices, and went 7-4 on the exact same team that Orton went 1-4 with.

    ReplyDelete
  98. he got 3 million and "retired"
if he will probably be the starter in a few weeks and make much more money than being a backup

    ReplyDelete
  99. I continue to be amazed at how much scouts, coaches, front office people, etc fawn over people that "look" like quarterbacks. 6 ft 4, 225lbs, laser arm, white, where do I sign up?

    ReplyDelete
  100. I agree 100%. I would have him play if I know my team has no shot at playoffs like the Jags. It would at least sell tickets

    ReplyDelete
  101. Mitch, The GodfatherAugust 30, 2014 at 1:05 PM

I think I've heard of that guy before.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 30, 2014 at 1:06 PM

    Yeah.. That's about it. Thanks.

I didn't expect any revolutionary advice here, the answer is pretty obvious, but I've been thinking about it for the last 24 hours and if you can't turn to the BoD for this stuff, then where can you go?

    ReplyDelete
  103. Kind of figured. A lot of the more hardliners are. Not limited to Christians either. Take any religion...the extremists generally contradict their own beliefs in the name of their beliefs. In this case, we have a devout Christian who is judgmental in the name of God, when the bible specifically says to love your neighbor and NOT to be judgmental. But that's a story for another time.

Out of morbid curiosity...how bad us it? Is he one of those 'pray the gay away' bigots?

    ReplyDelete
  104. I never got the impression he even wants to play. Why not pull a Vick and carry that headset with pride?

Anyone shocked at how Vick pretty much admitted he could give two shits about playing qb anymore?

    ReplyDelete
  105. sadly, everyone is afraid of "looking bad", as they would get laughed at if he had a bad season. I just want some closure. Like get a starting gig, he can go 0-5 and be terrible, and I will never talk about it again, honest. But sadly, no closure is coming.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Magoonie NOT Teddy BelmontAugust 30, 2014 at 1:07 PM

You need to be brutally honest with your friend. Get him to understand that he is being used for his money. That she isn't going to fall in love with him. That all this is a dead end. You may have to be a little cruel here. Remind him that she said she isn't interested in him like that. That no matter how much money he throws at her it's not going to make her love him. Bring up the fact he's not as experienced in relationships as you and this is not how relationships start or delelop. Do you have any other friends to kinda back you up? Make him really look at the bills and debt he's accrued and ask him if all this money is really worth the slight slight chance shell throw him some pussy. Lay it all out there, sugercoat nothing. After you do that youll just have to wash your hands of the situation. If you try and voice your concerns and continues down this path, well it's his life.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I know what you mean. I'm sure your friend knows the deal and doesn't need 200 people telling him he's stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  108. He'll just get defensive, and accuse you of being jealous, and chase her even more.

    ReplyDelete
  109. which is worse: going 4-12 and having half-empty stadiums or going 2-14 with full stadiums.
Take tebow and win. Or if he sucks, get someone new in the draft

    ReplyDelete
  110. Damn.

You are right she isn't ever going to be into him. And he is going to flush his life away for disappointment... but I don't know that there is anything anyone can do. He is vulnerable and she is taking advantage of him (albeit for a good reason) I know she has told him she isn't interested but women don't ever get that that isn't enough. As long as she talks to him and doesn't cut him out he is going to hold out hope. Just an awful situation.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Mitch, The GodfatherAugust 30, 2014 at 1:10 PM

Skip Bayless is probably the only guy who believed in Tebow and I dislike Skip for a lot of things but not for Tebow. All Bayless ever said is that he would win games. Broncos went 6-23 in games not started by Tebow from 2009 to 2012. And for all the talk about how the Broncos only won because of their defense, what was the excuse for that same defense being awful before Tebow?

    ReplyDelete
  112. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 30, 2014 at 1:10 PM

    Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Tell that to 32 GMs.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I couldn't have said it better myself. If this is all about sex for him, tell him to buy a hooker for a night. It will be cheaper in the end.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I agree, now every "action" movie has to take it self way to seriously. James Bond movies now take themselves seriously!! James Bond Movies, let that set in.

I got the feeling that after the "Bourne Identity" came out and was such a success everything after felt that it needed to follow the same formula with the stylized action and serious subject matter.

While that is great when done effectively and with the right material not every action film needs to be that way. Sometimes you need a bit of camp.

    ReplyDelete
  116. But his spirals during practice are not that good, so nothing else matters, and Tebow had zero to do with Denver's success.

Kyle Orton started 1-4, but it's not his fault, it was a horrible team.

Tebow goes 7-4 with the exact same time, MINUS their top WR that they traded to the Rams, but it's simply because Tebow was on an awesome team, and got carried the entire way.

    ReplyDelete
  117. if someone just wants to get laid, go to a hooker. It's cheaper and with no heartbreak in the end (except maybe just an std)

    ReplyDelete
  118. Magoonie NOT Teddy BelmontAugust 30, 2014 at 1:13 PM

I wouldn't be suprised if it's a bit more than sex. This friend sounds really lonely and is probably starved for any female companionship, sexual or not. Another piece of advice, get his hygiene in check and take him out to try and meet women.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 30, 2014 at 1:14 PM

    Thank you..

    ReplyDelete
  120. It is perfectly acceptable for what it is... but he acts like it is The Godfather or some other movie Meekin has never seen... and he doesn't realize what an unconventional opinion that is and will defend it all day long.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I would also try the online route for him. In the last month, I've met several people from there. I even met my ex-wife from there and know several people who found their spouse from there.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Mister_E_BarrettsLastPrivateerAugust 30, 2014 at 1:15 PM

You're assessment is good, he's not a "just get some pussy" kind of guy. He's never had any opportunity to just get pussy, that sort of thing doesn't even exist for him.

    ReplyDelete
  123. I just wish he would say he liked the movie because it was his childhood dream come true and not like it was some legitimate cinematic work of art. It was 100 minutes of poorly shot nostalgia.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I met my ex-wife that way also. Should we start a club or something?

    ReplyDelete
  125. Exactly. That is what I hate about him... same when he talks about Blink 182 being the best band ever... its fine to like them but you have to realize that isn't a common opinion and that maybe because something is your favorite doesn't mean it is the best.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Wasn't he supposed to be drafted a lot higher but the coming out thing kinda dropped his stock?

    ReplyDelete
  127. Agreed. A guy that just wants to get laid won't go to all this trouble... guys that just want sex will usually get it as they don't get hung up on women that make them work for it.

    ReplyDelete
  128. nope, some people said maybe 5-6th rounder; 538 had a great article showing that he was a 6th-7th rounder at best

    ReplyDelete
  129. Still trying to come to terms with Malcolm Tucker being Doctor Who. Capaldi is a good enough actor that he'll make people forget about it eventually but it would probably have been better if he'd had some other substantial role as a buffer between the two.
