SummerSlam Live Thread

  1. Why was Orton allowed to cash in on Bryan? Wasn't it established that he champ has to be standing for the cash in? Or does that only apply when it is convenient?

    ReplyDelete
  2. I don't think that was ever established.

    ReplyDelete
  3. They likely didn't have ANY idea what to do with it even when Edge won it the first time.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Final SS predictions

Lesnar/Cena - Lesnar by Heyman interference
    Stephanie/Brie - Brie
    Reigns/Orton - Reigns
Rollins/Ambrose - Rollins, or screwy DQ finish that'll make no sense
    Wyatt/Jericho - Wyatt
    Miz/Ziggler - Miz
    AJ/Paige - AJ
Rusev/Swagger - Swagger (upset of the night)

    ReplyDelete
  5. Okay, officially going with:
    Cesaro
    Swagger
    AJ
    Miz
    Bray
    Rollins
    Reigns
    Steph
    Brock

    ReplyDelete
  6. I might be thinking of something else IDK.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Mitch, The GodfatherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:19 PM

Nope. Edge wasn't standing when Punk cashed it in on him.

    ReplyDelete
  8. The match doesn't start until the champ get to their feet.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Mitch, The GodfatherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:19 PM

I got all of those except for the first one. RVD is going to win. Don't know why I think that but I do.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Replace Swagger with Rusev and I agree.

    ReplyDelete
  11. only when convenient (ex: see bryan over big show)

    ReplyDelete
  12. That's what I thought... but Bryan never got to his feet

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh boy! I'm so excited (about Summerslam) and I just can't hide it!

I'm about to lose control and I think I like it!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Bully Ray is leaving TNA. . . . . . time for me to accept TNA's fate.

"In what has to be viewed as a major blow for TNA, PWInsider reports that Bully Ray had a meeting with the roster at tonight's house show in Hagerstown, Marlyn and said he wanted to tell them goodbye, as he didn't expect to be working with the company anymore. The site reports that Bully's contract is expiring and that last night's show was the last he was contracted to appear on, so it would appear they were unable to come to terms on a new deal."

    ReplyDelete
  15. Unlikely I know, but is anyone watching TripleMania? Apparently ADR just cut some scathing promo on WWE and I'm interested to know what he said.

    ReplyDelete
  16. For as much power as he had, he was pretty much ruining the company.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Shit, Madden'll have weeks of shitty columns now

    ReplyDelete
  18. Surely even you can't be too upset that Ken Anderson will be reduced to begging for food stamps.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Stranger in the AlpsAugust 17, 2014 at 5:22 PM

All ready for that HUGE, BIG, UNEXPECTED Nikki Bella heel turn.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Wednesday nights just won't be the same...

    ReplyDelete
  21. You don't know why Cesaro is going to lose? Have you watched the product within the last month?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Mitch, The GodfatherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:23 PM

    Two thoughts.

    1. I think Miz gets a lot of undeserved hate. He really is one of the top heels when you think about it. He just has that look and voice of a guy you just want to hate and he can be very annoying. I used to think he was terrible on offense as a heel. He could be better but unless you're a monster heel, how much offense do you need. I'm not comparing him to Flair but Flair didn't have the most complex offense. It's the little things like clipping his opponent's knee or a thumb to the eye is what made him so great. Miz can incorporate a little bit of that into his in-ring repertoire.

    2. I have a feeling that Nikki is going to turn heel and join the Authority. I just wonder if they're going to involve her in trying to get Cena to join them at some point. We know they are a couple and I don't know if they have ever mentioned it on Raw.

    ReplyDelete
  23. The hell is this Foley standup shit?

    ReplyDelete
  24. So since Bully is leaving TNA and reading future spoilers from the NYC shows taped this past week, I don't think I will be watching the shows anymore. At least not on a regular basis and defending them to death. I enjoyed TNA, but it seems like it is time to bury them. They are done.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Stranger in the AlpsAugust 17, 2014 at 5:24 PM

Everything is f--*gasp choke gasp* QUIT CHOKING ME!

    ReplyDelete
  26. There have been other times though where the refs wouldn't start a match because the champ was down though, totally inconsistent

    ReplyDelete
  27. Once Bad Influence left, he was my only reason to watch. Oh well. I wonder where he's going. There's still life for him yet.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Won't be around for the Live Thread but I'll throw out some predictions.

    Brock beats Cena clean.
    Reigns beats Orton.
    Brie beats Steph.
    Swagger beats Rusev
    Bray beats Jericho
    Ambrose beats Rollins

Bold prediction: this goes down as show of the year with Cena/Brock, Rollins/Ambrose, Bray/Jericho and Reigns/Orton all hitting ****(yeah I'm overly optimistic so what?)

Either way, enjoy the show everyone! I know I hope to.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I dunno. RVD isn't one of their guys, I don't see any problems with them jobbing him to Cesaro.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Mitch, The GodfatherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:26 PM

I would expect Cesaro to get a win since he's been losing a lot and you think RVD would be the guy to take the loss. RVD has to win sometime.

    ReplyDelete
  31. A **** lumberjack match? Wyatt/Jericho, the two that have no chemistry what so ever getting ****? Optimistic, indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I was expecting to see WWF1987 come on here to defend TNA, then I was like, "Wait. What?"

    ReplyDelete
  33. davidbonzaisaldanamontgomeryAugust 17, 2014 at 5:27 PM

So I would up going out last night, hanging at a bar in downtown SF for an acquaintance's b-day, which was across the street from a row of titty bars. My friends (the ones who knew the acquaintance) wanted to bail, but we got guilted into going back into another person's place (we didn't know anyone beside said acquaintence/former co-worker) and stayed till goddamn 4am. And I was so hung over, I've just been drinking water but haven't felt the need to eat anything today (all I've eaten today is a banana, a Breakfast Essentials, and a One A Day). And we stayed in the city till 4 when we could've bailed and saw some tits instead.

So I'm in a perfect mood to watch a show that will probably be meh =)

    ReplyDelete
  34. It's SummerSlam! If I can't dream about a **** lumberjack match, WHAT can I dream about!?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Mitch, The GodfatherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:27 PM

I think the quality is going to hinge on how well Orton and Reigns goes. I'm not worried about Orton.

    ReplyDelete
  36. This Divas interview deal makes me like Sasha and Alexa Bliss a lot more. They seem to be the smartest.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I hope so. Then again, Cesaro lost to Ziggler within 2 minutes and tapped out to Jack Swagger in the last two weeks. He's one step above Damien Sandow.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Wait whaaaaaaa

    ReplyDelete
  39. Chill out, Jesse Spano.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The matches all make sense, but none feel like they've been booked as well as possible outside Steph/Brie and Swagger/Rusev.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Cooler_Than_GuntherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:29 PM

that was quite the gratuitous mention of dean ambrose's hangout

    ReplyDelete
  42. Humour is watching a TNA show from 2004 where the camera shows Dixie Carter in the crowd.

    bunch ' nincompoops

    ReplyDelete
  45. Fuck you, I'll take as many caffeine pills as I want!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Edge said during his first Talk is Jericho appearance that he was the one who told Vince, "My character is a slimy opportunist, why don't I cash it in after Cena won a match?" and that originally it was going to just be a match.

    ReplyDelete
  47. will be your heeeeeeeeeeeero...

    ReplyDelete
  48. No wonder it sucked.

    ReplyDelete
  49. *yawn* Hopefully this is interesting, or it's going to put me to sleep.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Getting ready to watch the pre-show on Youtube and this is the description...Tensions are high going into the biggest party of the summer. Will Stephanie McMahon make the former Divas Champion regret ever undermining her authority? Can The Champ overcome the challenge of The Beast Incarnate? Find out what breaks down heading into SummerSlam during with SummerSlam Kickoff.

    Stephanie McMahon = Main Eventer!

    ReplyDelete
  51. davidbonzaisaldanamontgomeryAugust 17, 2014 at 5:30 PM

Speaking of drunk misery, all this shit about Steph/Brie makes me feel like Jim Carrey at the bar in Dumb and Dumber.

Will they overbook it? Will Nikki turn? Will Brie win?

    "No and I don't CAAAAARRRRRRREEEEE!!!!"

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oooh, Lesnar's Vikings jersey outside!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Cooler_Than_GuntherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:31 PM

i'll repeat this later, but if anyone starts having issues with the stream, the 1st pass solution will be for all of the canadians to stop watching and sucking up bandwidth for the USA USA USA

    ReplyDelete
  54. I almost hope they put that match last for the sheer hilarity of it all.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Just so I'm clear, The SummerSlam and the SummerSlam kickoff are both on the Network. Now I have the network, but...is the kickoff free for non network people? Because if it's not. What the hell is the difference exactly between the kick off and the first match of the night?

    ReplyDelete
  56. I would have liked to watch this show on the Network tonight, but because of WWE and Rogers total fuck-up in Canada I'll be seeing this through perfectly legitimate means instead.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Cooler_Than_GuntherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:32 PM

    flair is SO fired

    that WOOOOOO was off script

    ReplyDelete
  58. Wow the seats down here on the floor are way better than the ones where I sat last year, pretty plush for a sports event. I'm pretty close to the end of the entrance ramp but over in the middle of the row. I should have a great view of any action that happens outside the ring on this side

    ReplyDelete
  59. I can't explain it, but seeing Flair on TV nowadays is just... weird.

    ReplyDelete
  60. davidbonzaisaldanamontgomeryAugust 17, 2014 at 5:32 PM

Shilling the Network while we're watching the Network?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Cooler_Than_GuntherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:32 PM

tell renee to call me when she gets a chance

hell, just give her the message that the test came back negative

    ReplyDelete
  62. why the hell is Booker's hair in a bee hive?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Preshow is available on YouTube as well, no?

    ReplyDelete
  64. davidbonzaisaldanamontgomeryAugust 17, 2014 at 5:33 PM

    Oh yeah.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Ha! You fool! Your ill-timed evening out will result in sluggishness when I finally defeat you in the BoD Best Of 5 Series!

I've been trainin' while you've been indulgin'...you are done, kind sir! Done like a promising NXT star's push when he makes it to RAW!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Cooler_Than_GuntherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:33 PM

    HOLY SHIT

jobber took his tv with him to the ppv!

    ReplyDelete
  67. It's definitely on Youtube, I'm guessing a bunch of other places, as well.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarAugust 17, 2014 at 5:33 PM

    9.99!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Because network is live and flair is on it, is there a 7 second delay?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Plus, there are undoubtedly people on the fence about renewing.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Huh, Ronda Rousey is there after all.

    ReplyDelete
  72. A must-win for Cena, otherwise he might have another down year like 2012 and strugge to win out every other ppv.

    ReplyDelete
  73. davidbonzaisaldanamontgomeryAugust 17, 2014 at 5:34 PM

What's the reading of DBSM's care for this feud?

    IT'S NEGATIVE NINE THOUSAAAAND

    ReplyDelete
  74. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarAugust 17, 2014 at 5:34 PM

I don't think the WWE Network is subject to the FCC, is it? No fines means no need for a 7-second delay.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Rousey! Beadle! Tony award winner Steve Kazee of "Once" the musical!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Try as you might, WWE, I still do not give a fuck about Brie-McMahon.

    ReplyDelete
  77. So I got roped into doing the ice bucket challenge. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

    ReplyDelete
  78. davidbonzaisaldanamontgomeryAugust 17, 2014 at 5:35 PM

Steph deserves a much better foil. If this was Steph/AJ, this would fucking rule.

    ReplyDelete
  79. GAPGATE FLASHBACK

    ReplyDelete
  80. Live feed is acting up already. Sound is fine. Video is stalling and trying to play catch up.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I've come to the thinking that Cena retains tonight on a DQ or something.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I gotta admit that Steph's crocodile tears and acting like she's scared of Brie then slapping her was pretty cool.

    ReplyDelete
  83. If LA doesn't shit on Brie-Steph, they deserve to lose Summerslam.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Cooler_Than_GuntherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:35 PM

like i said below, if anyone starts having issues with the
stream, the 1st pass solution will be for all of the canadians to stop
watching and sucking up bandwidth for the USA USA USA

    ReplyDelete
  85. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarAugust 17, 2014 at 5:35 PM

I keep forgetting they still care about that. I just paid 9.99

    ReplyDelete
  86. And then Rollins cashes in

    ReplyDelete
  87. Cooler_Than_GuntherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:36 PM

    yeah, she deserves reynolds wrap

    ReplyDelete
  88. Wrestlers should throw mics at each other more often.

    ReplyDelete
  89. davidbonzaisaldanamontgomeryAugust 17, 2014 at 5:36 PM

I hope so. They booed HHH during his circlejerk tapout ovation, they booed Christy Hemme out of the building at WM21, they can do it. Make me proud, my SoCal peeps.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Reason #451 why Punk was smart to leave

    ReplyDelete
  91. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarAugust 17, 2014 at 5:36 PM

I really don't think they'll need to. Overbook it and it should be a lot of fun.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Cooler_Than_GuntherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:36 PM

i wonder how many people are doing it without making sure there's money on the line to go to ALS

    ReplyDelete
  93. LA came through big time on that YOU TAPPED OUT chant for Hunter....

    ReplyDelete
  94. Oi, that's a pretty shitty Yes Lock/Crossface.

    ReplyDelete
  95. If they weren't so expensive they probably would.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Prediction. Cena wins, most fans fume at how stupid WWE is, Lesnar walks home with lots of money and still doesn't give a shit.

    ReplyDelete
  97. davidbonzaisaldanamontgomeryAugust 17, 2014 at 5:37 PM

Steph is on point in this feud. The problem is not her.

    ReplyDelete
  98. But Cena OVERCOMES THE ODDS, and wins anyway... because CENAWI... eh, you know the rest.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Tearing someone's heart out just doesn't sound PG to me...

    ReplyDelete
  100. Cooler_Than_GuntherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:37 PM

i'm embarrassed this is a marquee matchup

    ReplyDelete
  101. But credit where it's due, Brie takes a Pedigree better than most.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Steph's heel work is the only thing that works in this feud.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Why the fuck is this show constantly crashing?

    ReplyDelete
  104. But Canadians aren't even watching via internet anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Shucky ducky quack quack!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarAugust 17, 2014 at 5:38 PM

They have a graphic for the Shucky Ducky shit? Good grief.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Remember, they did their international launch, so more people are watching now. Plus, budget cuts = cutting bandwidth.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Cooler_Than_GuntherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:38 PM

    ...

    shut up

    ReplyDelete
  109. davidbonzaisaldanamontgomeryAugust 17, 2014 at 5:38 PM

Last year, we had Punk/Brock and Cena/Bryan. There's no wonder I had zero interest in going to SS again this year.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Did Booker T just say Ronda Rousey is backstage or am i hallucinating again?

    ReplyDelete
  111. Does Steph's tit gap make an appearance tonight, yes or no?

    ReplyDelete
  112. davidbonzaisaldanamontgomeryAugust 17, 2014 at 5:39 PM

LOL, RVD curtainjerked SS last year too. I hope they're paying him well for being the PPV appetizer.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Is RVD no longer sorta over or is this crowd starting off pretty badly?

    ReplyDelete
  114. I still can't quite understand how Cesaro went from where he was coming out of WM, to being in the preshow match at Summerslam. It boggles my mind.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Got to love the product shilling......

    ReplyDelete
  116. Cooler_Than_GuntherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:39 PM

rhyming doesn't make it appropriate, jerry

    ReplyDelete
  117. Virgil's Gimmick TableAugust 17, 2014 at 5:39 PM

    With a vengeance.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Oh, there's a new sound effect. Great.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Too bad she can't factor into the proceedings (probably) because it would rule if Steph had her armbar the fuck out of Brie pre-match to get the heat.

    ReplyDelete
  120. How is Summerslam with RVD only appropiate, King?

    ReplyDelete
  121. He doesn't even have the siren any more.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Cooler_Than_GuntherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:40 PM

it does the run-in for the distraction

    ReplyDelete
  123. Change the lights and Cesaro is a ripoff of Taz.

    ReplyDelete
  124. This is the first event on the Network I have had video issues with. Would not even load on my Samsung Smart TV, Apple TV has already crashed ones and the video quality is blurry and buffering. Not off to a great start.

    ReplyDelete
  125. "It's only appropriate. Summerslam and Rob Van Dam"

Jesus, Lawler...what the hell are you talking about?

And then come the Mountain Dew plugs.

    ReplyDelete
  126. It's like the British version of police sirens or something.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Cooler_Than_GuntherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:40 PM

it would never happen for obvious reasons, but i'd poop myself if steen debuted

    ReplyDelete
  128. MARK YEATON HOF 2015 (NOT CHIMMEL) sign

    ReplyDelete
  129. The air raid siren wasn't the problem, WWE. It was the rest of that garbage song. The ambulance siren doesn't help.

    ReplyDelete
  130. I had a feeling this show would have problems since it's the first of the international launch. I question whether they have the capacity to handle the traffic.

    ReplyDelete
  131. davidbonzaisaldanamontgomeryAugust 17, 2014 at 5:40 PM

    BECAUSE WWE

    ReplyDelete
  132. This is a fuckup of epic proportions.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Remember when Cesaro threw Big Show out of the battle royal at Wrestlemania how we all predicted he would be on the Summerslam pre-show?

    BoD: 1

    WWE: 0

    ReplyDelete
  134. Wouldn't RVD be more appropriate in Denver as opposed to LA?

    ReplyDelete
  135. Naw, they'll be smooshed together in some supportive titty awesomeness.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Still doesn't make it appropiate.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Cooler_Than_GuntherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:41 PM

imagine during the y2j/bray match, the lights go out, and when they come back up, steen is in the ring

    ReplyDelete
  138. Cesaro doesn't even play to the crowd on the way to the ring anymore. Maybe he's afraid he'll get too over again.

    ReplyDelete
  139. When you know that you have twenty minutes to a show. Why not even pretend kayfabe and say that the match has a time limit?

    ReplyDelete
  140. No mic skills,no main event level charisma, why is anyone surprised?

Oh he can wrestle? Like that matters nowadays.

    ReplyDelete
  141. davidbonzaisaldanamontgomeryAugust 17, 2014 at 5:41 PM

The WWE brass tell the wrestlers to make a name for himself, but when someone like Cesaro gets a lot of crowd momentum, WWE puts him in a position to fail instead of running with it.

But that's none of my business.

    ReplyDelete
  142. RVD is moving slow as fuck out there.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Remember when he went two commercial breaks and a super finisher with Cena and people forgot the other times it happened and the other person got nowhere afterward?

    ReplyDelete
  144. davidbonzaisaldanamontgomeryAugust 17, 2014 at 5:41 PM

    Mustve ordered extra biscuits today

    ReplyDelete
  145. And I'm having issues with my stream. Damn it.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Jesus Christ, Go Fight Live loaded faster than this.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Steph's work hasn't been the problem. It's that Brie can't hold her own... also, everything else.

    ReplyDelete
  148. "Most dangerous man in sports entertainment." That phrase just sounds dumb.

    ReplyDelete
  149. No, but I remember everyone on the blog saying he was a shoo-in to win the strap at 31.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Then bitch when no one "Grabs the brass ring"

    ReplyDelete
  151. If these stream issues continue, I'll likely break my TV.

    ReplyDelete
  152. He's really putting in a half-assed effort here.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Shut up and talk about the match you 3

    ReplyDelete
  154. Cooler_Than_GuntherAugust 17, 2014 at 5:43 PM

    YOU CAN SEE THE FUTURE

you posted that and then a few seconds later jbl said it!

    ReplyDelete
  155. YOU HAVE YOUR VERSION AND I HAVE MINE!

    ReplyDelete
  156. I still can't get over the commercials during a damn pre-show match.

    ReplyDelete
  157. RVD looks old and sooo methodical, especially after watching ECW PPVs lately.

    ReplyDelete
  158. RVD's brain: "Something said... not good."

    ReplyDelete
  159. What are you guys running the Network on that it's giving you issues? I'm on iOS at the airport and it's pretty ok here.

    ReplyDelete
  160. I did a 9 minute long form of me sipping ice water in my backyard.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarAugust 17, 2014 at 5:43 PM

My feed keeps going into 1.5x speed to catch up with skipping issues. This match looks like a fucking Benny Hill sketch. And what the fucking fuck, a commercial!??!

    ReplyDelete
  162. Is this a commercial mid-match?

    ReplyDelete
  163. I don't think it is that... I just think this is all he has

    ReplyDelete
  164. davidbonzaisaldanamontgomeryAugust 17, 2014 at 5:43 PM

They should bring back time limits. Time-out draws would be a better finish on RAW than distractions and 50/50 win/loss trades.

    ReplyDelete
  165. WM question: Has WWE address the problem that the entire show is gonna be in daylight?

    ReplyDelete
  166. Clearly you need to hear the Hunter chewout speech about how no one helped him ever again.

    ReplyDelete
  167. We already have the network; get rid of the xommercials

    ReplyDelete
  168. Why is there a Lesnar ad with RVD chants in the background.

    ReplyDelete
  169. How is that a problem?

    ReplyDelete
  170. What the fuck is this shit? I want to watch the match.

A commercial for the PPV tonight? Fuck, do it on YouTube and TV, but why pimp out the Network ON the Network? I'm paying for this, can't I just see the whole match?

  178. I'm expecting a real fun show tonight. I really think Orton-Reigns is going to be something really special. Paige-AJ should be fun. Cena-Lesnsr will be interesting. Rollins-Ambrose will be just as good as expected and see them both shunted down the card for not tearing the house down. Steph-Brie will have highlights shown for many many SummerSlam retrospective clip affairs to come. Should be a real fun night. It's time for Summer Slam!
