Vince McMahon Forcing the WWE Creative Team to Book John Cena Stronger?

For the past few weeks, Vince has reportedly been all over the Creative Team to book Cena stronger to prove his fans that he's "still in the fight" after being dominated by Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. It has also been reported that many people backstage felt that it was the wrong decision for Cena to destroy the Wyatt Family on RAW but Vince insisted on it and was unwilling to change his mind.

NXT Talents to Appear at RAW & Smackdown Tapings Over the Next Several Weeks

Adrian Neville, Sami Zayn, and Tyler Breeze are all scheduled to be at both TV tapings this weekend and for the  next several weeks, the top NXT talents are expected to be at the tapings too. It is unclear if the WWE is doing this in an attempt to create a NXT cross-promotion or not.

Current NXT Star to be Paired with The Miz?

There has been talk within the WWE of bringing up Tyler Breeze to pair with Miz as part of his entourage. Reportedly, the WWE Creative Team sees a lot of potential in the duo and hopes to test them out in pre-tapes shortly at the Performance Center.

What Tag Team is Vince McMahon High Up on Now?

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, Vince is very high on Goldust and Stardust as of late. It has also been reported that the reason for their renewed push is that Vince "hit the jackpot" regarding Codt Rhodes' new character after several other gimmicks over the years. Also, the teams heel turn had been planned over the course of several weeks.

Comments

  1. Breeze and Miz is OK. Breeze and Fandango would have been better if played for comedy.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Vince can't understand that what makes a great hero is not his strenght, but his vulnerabilty. This is why people can stand Superman but love Spider-Man.

    ReplyDelete
  3. You know when I think of the problems WWE has, John Cena not being booked strongly enough oddly isn't high on the list

  4. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 13, 2014 at 8:11 AM

A lot of good, bad, and ugly in this daily update.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I'm surprised WWE hasn't conceived of an angle where Cena heads to Africa to defeat the Ebola outbreak.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Did you see Amazing Spider-Man 2? Not sure I love Spidey that much anymore, either...

    ReplyDelete
  7. Cena: And it doesn't even work in either win/lose scenario. Cena beats Brock? You now have him even higher up the ladder and making it that much harder to think someone can beat him PLUS the only guy that had that cred is vanquished. Brock beats Cena? Your top guy's part time, eater of worlds, and the next in line is still head and shoulders above the rest

    ReplyDelete
  8. Instead pf beating up the wyatts, it would have been much more effective if we saw training montages of Cena preparing for his next fight and watching matches of Lesnar to find a weakness in him.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Cena goes to Africa. Gets Ebola. Is on his death bed. The second a doctor shows up he IMMEDIETLY leaps up does the you can't see me hand gesture. Holds up a tiny towel that reads NEVER GIVE UP and runs full speed back to America.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Voted for New Jack.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Lesnar should have broke Cena's back; Cena is in some prison, he miraculously recovers and he is the only one that can figure out how to escape that prison.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Whether that Ebola attacks his liver or his lungs first, he's just proud that it's attacking HIM. And he'll fight that outbreak for each and every cell in his body.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Haha...I just pictured one little cell in his body screaming "Let's Go Cena!" over and over.

    ReplyDelete
  14. You also need a doctor checking for vital signs by dropping his arm three times.

    ReplyDelete
  15. See, if Cena was in that Dark Knight Rises prison, he'd just make a rope out of all his tiny towels and climb out.

    ReplyDelete
  16. On his death bed? Cena would shrug off ebola like it was a DDT on the concrete floor!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Where is Fandango?? Is he hurt? Or does creative just have nothing for him anymore?

    ReplyDelete
  18. A 'Miz + Entourage' stable containing Breeze, Sandow and A N Other Diva could actually be the most entertaining Miz has been in some time. Not that the bar is set particularly high for that one.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I personally dislike Spider-Man and love Superman, but Superman is at his best when he or his loved ones are vulnerable.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Concussion/creative

    ReplyDelete
  21. OK, but when Superman has been Superman for so long, will the remaining Superman fans (the report says Vince is focused on Cena's current fans, not attracting new ones, shortsighted as that might be) not be upset/disillusioned if he starts showing vulnerability?

Booking Cena as Superman is fine (well, it's an option at least), but then don't have him lose in that way to Brock if you aren't going to sell the story.

    ReplyDelete
  22. But but the writer from the other day on here said breeze would never make it to raw!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yah that would be a cool fit... Breeze was really impressive in the four way.

    ReplyDelete
  24. and with each passing Superman you have to come up with more absurd scenarios to show vulnerability

    ReplyDelete
  25. He really was, and he was the one I would have considered the weak link before the match.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Not my intention to thread-jack, but figured this was the best way to mention it in real time:

The July 29, 1996 Nitro is on the Network right now and it is, for my money, the best episode Nitro ever did.

The famous part is about 20 minutes away.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I think Miz/Breeze could be good, and their narcissism/ego would lead to a reason for them to feud later. I'm excited for Vince to be high on the Rhodes' now and in 3 weeks they job to everyone b/c the "new" wore off of them.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Speaking as one of the last people in the world that likes Superman the most, I can tell you his best struggles are not physical, but mental and emotional. And there are some great stories of said struggles.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Once they decided to rush the rematch, what else could WWE do? Have Cena take the worst* beating at Summerslam, look weak/injured, and be squashed (or just lose) AGAIN?

Cena does not appear to be going off television, and WWE can't really try to sell "worst year ever", so he needs something.

*For the company's #1 long-term face AND champion

  30. TJ: I bought the Ron Simmons audio shoot interview from Highspots and I must say, he sounds like he could be a very scary man. He seems like one of those guys that is nice, but if you were to cross him, it could end badly for you.

    ReplyDelete
  31. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2q_loRhqrU4

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm torn on the Tyler Breeze idea.

On the one hand it seems logical and would be pretty cool. On the other, consider Alex Riley. Miz did everything for Riley, he let Riley whoop his ass in every segment, put him over completely clean repeatedly (even though he had recently been WWE champion) and it still did nothing for Riley's career. A few months after Miz, he was already off TV and he never recovered. So why would Breeze want to risk that. And it's not like Riley sucked, they were super high on him coming out of developmental, he's one of the only guys on NXT Season 2 who actually looked like a star.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Why not build-up guys like Cesaro, Sheamus, Ziggler, Reigns, and Ambrose much stronger so that you don't have to rely on Cena constantly to carry the torch as the top babyface?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Riley ran afoul of Cena backstage and got into political trouble. It really wasn't Miz's association that did it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Don't Step.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Booooo!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. They're in the process with Reigns and Ambrose. Cesaro's big push is apparently coming sometime soon. Sheamus failed the first time. If recent rumours are to be believed, Ziggler isn't doing himself any favours with his attitude, and apparently has the stigma of being injury-prone to make matters worse.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Other than the concussion, what have Ziggler's injuries been? I know he's missed some time, but I can't remember why else he was out.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Can't remember either tbh, I just remember reading that he was considered injury-prone. Might be untrue, who knows?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Lol Cena needs protection. Good one.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Also Riley had no moveset to speak of. He was good on the Mic and even had some charisma but he had nothing in the ring.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Sasha Banks' character would be a great fit

    ReplyDelete
  43. I keep seeing that too, and thought surely he wasn't being accused of being injury prone b/c of the concussion from Swagger.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Cena won't need to go to Africa... because Africa will come to him (Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods - THE EBOLA BOYS)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Daily Stranger Update:

Early this morning, I had a dream that I was in a Triple Threat Match with Goldust and Stardust as my opponents. Goldust's head was not in it at all, and he was flaking out, so he got counted out and eliminated. That left Stardust and myself, and we were going nowhere with our story and the crowd was getting restless and started to boo us. I asked Cody "Who's going over? How do we do it?" and Cody was unsure also.

Then my dream flashed forward to myself meeting Dusty Rhodes backstage, and I relayed the scenario to him, and I asked him the same thing. I woke up before he could answer.

I'm pretty sure he would have told me "Double pin".

    ReplyDelete
  46. You should have asked them to form a War Games team.

He could have done the Rocky/Clubber Lang thing.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Alexa Bliss! The character doesn't fit currently but a simple heel turn into a narcissistic bitch would be a breeze to pull off.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Cena was ribbing him, something he apparently does with a lot of new guys and Riley stood up to him, which is a no-no. I guess he was supposed to no-sell the ribs until he was accepted by the veterans (that's the protocol?) and that action kind of wrecked him.

Also, he had that DUI. It just seems that top guys didn't seem to like him. I think Punk taunted him on commentary, too.

    ReplyDelete

Yessir. A super hero with common sense is fucking refreshing.

    ReplyDelete
  69. He also had a massive botch during a match with Swagger, but that could have been blamed on Swagger. Riley was really over after the Miz thing, but it was basically Virgil 2.0 because once the storyline ended, they had literally nothing else for him to do.

    ReplyDelete
  70. this makes sense. That's why I think Batman has been so much more profitable. The guy has endless people to feud with.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Those who don't respond should just have their posting privileges revoked. That's the way I see it.

Goldust and Stardust are lame as shit and heatless. The Miz is terrible. Tyler Breeze is an entrance and can do two moves and will flounder on Raw. WWE is terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonSeptember 13, 2014 at 11:10 AM

Vince: "I want everyone in the roster to lay down in a pile in the middle of the ring and let Cena stand on top of you. Cena, while the ref counts three I want you to hold up your, "Never Give Up" towel like the Iwo Jima memorial"
    Cena: "OK Vince."
Vince: "And don't forget to tell them about the Network! It's $9.99!"

    ReplyDelete
  75. Everything just feels so directionless and that stuff just happens just to happen. Motivations aren't flushed out for a lot of these characters, which I blame on the lack of promo time.

Seriously, she has enough room for a third tit in there.

    ReplyDelete
  80. How long does Vince expect Cena to carry the promotion? it's been 8 years but Cena's still only 37. Orton is 34 but they are like 51 and 46 in wrestler years.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonSeptember 13, 2014 at 11:13 AM

Vince will ride him until he drops and them make Cenation brand glue out of him.

    ReplyDelete
  82. "Possib-LY go wrong....that's....the first thing that's ever gone wrong..."

    ReplyDelete
  83. That seriously looks to be the plan.

Know what I don't understand? He seemed to transition from Rock and Austin without much fight but won't let the Cena era die. Seems it would be the other way around.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonSeptember 13, 2014 at 11:16 AM

Cena is the closest thing to Hogan that Vince has had in a LONG time. He's a merch machine with the kids.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Virgil's Gimmick TableSeptember 13, 2014 at 11:17 AM

If this is true, then this is a perfect example of why Vince just needs to go. He's completely out of touch.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Austin probably sold just as much but there didn't seem to be much hesitation in sticking your biggest stars on the undercard of WM 18 and 19

    ReplyDelete
  87. Cena is Vince's all time favorite wrestler. He has had the longest period as a draw and literally does everything that is asked of him. I don't see this ever ending unless Cena has a real bad injury or just gets too old to continue. This train ain't stopping any time soon.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Virgil's Gimmick TableSeptember 13, 2014 at 11:19 AM

    TEAM The Money Makers.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonSeptember 13, 2014 at 11:19 AM

Yeah, but Cena is easier to market to kids that a foul mouth dude that drinks beer and gives people the finger all the time.
Cena does any promotional shit Vince asks.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I guess that would make sense then.

    ReplyDelete
  91. That's true about Austin, but I still can't understand how easily he seemed to let the Rock out the door. Of course, the Rock was not sticking around under any circumstance but it didn't appear Vince was too bothered by it.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Then drop them. Who hasn't responded? Can I guess?

    ReplyDelete
  93. And if Meekin responds, drop him anyway

    ReplyDelete
  94. This really is Vince booking himself into a corner. Spend years making John Cena "the guy", neglect to build new stars, have Cena lose convincingly, then book him even stronger because he has no one else and thinks the fans are bailing.

Triple H must be on the internet right now searching for non-traceable poisons.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Maybe that's because Vince had HHH as his son-in-law and was aware of the friction between the two.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Just watched the movie 12 Angry Men (1957) for a course I'm in. It has a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.9 on IMDB and is #8 on IMDB's Top 250. I thought it was a pretty cool movie. How come more movies about juries aren't made?

    ReplyDelete
  97. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonSeptember 13, 2014 at 11:24 AM

Part of me thinks that he let him go because he didn't think he would get as big as he did outside of wrestling and he would eventually come back.

  100. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonSeptember 13, 2014 at 11:26 AM

I see that NXT is HHH's vision of what he wants wrestling to be, but as time goes on I see Vince getting involved there if it gets too popular.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Yup, definitely a cool movie. I loved the simplicity of it.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Not unless one of the jurors is a secret spy, and there are explosions and lots of boobies.

Crap, that would be the better name.

    ReplyDelete
  115. But Vince even had issues with Hogan at times, too. He didn't want to see so dependent on Hulk and would ridicule him for his age and hairline while wanting to make a new top hero like Warrior or Sid.

    ReplyDelete
  116. It's not even close to as good as 12 Angry Men, but I kinda dug Runaway Jury.

  120. So this is the only thread today

    ReplyDelete
  121. 1) If Vince's goal is to sell PPV buys for the Cena/Brock rematch at Night of Champions...then building Cena back up is an understandable goal. BUT that's really shortsighted.

Not to mention...you want to sell subscriptions to the Network more than you care about PPV buys now--so, you need to sell an ongoing storyline as being compelling. They really need this to be about Cena trying to figure out how to beat the guy he can't beat...and fill the network with Cena workout montages and training updates while Lesnar smiles, laughs and picks his teeth with the bones of those he's vanquished...

    2) Neville is really short for a guy with his build. If he comes in with a bunch of other guys with similar stature and you keep them working with each other...rather than just being fed to the taller guys on the main roster...you could have something very compelling.

Zayn needs a character makeover before going to the main roster. His gear is too busy, his music is a confused muddle (the crowd chants don't match his music, his dancing doesn't really match his character, etc.). He should come in as Insane Sami Zayn and if he can repeat what he did in the 4-Way in his first few Raw matches...he'd be over pretty quickly.

    3) I like Tyler Breeze more than I do Miz. Any pairing between the two of them should lead to a feud between them, as they're both too narcissistic to put up with others for long. As far as a larger stable built around Breeze & Miz...just remember, no uggos!

    4) What ARE Stardust and Golddust? Are they supposed to be extensions of the Attitude-era "bizarre one"? (The bizarre two?) Are they novelty and nostalgia? What do they want and why do they want it? (Of course, you could ask that of most of the people on the Raw roster...and THAT'S the problem.)

    ReplyDelete
  122. Was the lady that did MIz's makeup a diva or some random indy fill-in?

    ReplyDelete
  123. Serious question here: Do you guys think Cena would be capable of getting Big Show up for the Attitude Adjustment?

    ReplyDelete
  124. Or Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe.

    ReplyDelete
  125. I like the WCW recaps. Princess is an imbecile and the new QOTD guy sucks.

One of the Kyles posted the thing about Punk suing WWE and the other one I think stopped writing? I didn't like Dan Selby either.

I don't think I've ever read The Dude or Masked Reviewer.

    You're okay, Brian

    ReplyDelete
  126. This is true, but just looking over the 2013 financial report, the merch stuff is a very small piece of their revenue. While I have no doubt Cena makes up a good portion of that, I question if it's enough to the point where he's protected to this degree.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Vince will die before HHH.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I think Breeze and Miz could be a great pairing, as long as Breeze is treated as his own character and not Miz's bitch or Miz Jr. (especially with Sandow essentially filling that role).

    ReplyDelete
  135. Has there been any discussion on the story from yesterday (or Thursday) about Vince thinking of selling the tape library to Warner Bros.?

    ReplyDelete
  136. Selby seemed to be abusing his positing privileges, asking questions he could easily google and posting a lame Dolph Ziggler promo.

The QOTD guy doesn't even answer the question!

    ReplyDelete
  137. Are we sure Vince will ever die?

    ReplyDelete

  145. Don't worry, I don't know enough about wrestling to post anything until the next season of Legends' House. I don't even know if I still have posting privileges.

  146. Ok. A friend of mine sent it to me and it seemed really crazy. But he also sent me a story a few days before about CM Punk coming back to face Sting at Wrestlemania that was posted on The Inquisitor and they sourced a South Korean entertainment site that had gotten it from somewhere else. I guess I should have known better...haha.

  156. Losing 3-2 right now.

Texas had 2 outs runner on 1st. It went: error, single, double and now we're down 3-2.

We had two strikes with two outs and couldn't get the job done.

  157. In CFB action, both Va Tech and L'Ville are less than fifteen minutes from upset losses. Both trail by two scores, to ECU and UVA.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Oh OHHHH I get it, because Miz is a narcissist and Tyler Breeze is ALSO a narcissist. Brilliant!

    ReplyDelete
  179. They're really not. At all. There's also struggles with:

    -Getting the girl (Lois)
-Being a country boy in a big city
-Living up to everyone's expectations of him
-Doing the right thing, even with grey area morality ideas
-Living up to his OWN expectations
-Being able to lead by example
-Never allowing all his power and abilities to let him go too far.

You have to realize that Superman is only one part of his persona. He thinks of himself as Clark, first. He would like nothing better than to have a world that doesn't need him so he can retire and have a quiet life, maybe on a farm. But he can't because the world does need him.

When you see him as Clark, first, then you start to understand the character much better. That's where his humanity comes from. It's the opposite of Batman, who thinks of himself as Batman first before Bruce Wayne. Clark Kent is the real identity, Superman is the mask.

  180. They included Foley too as the Commissiomer.

    ReplyDelete
  181. I was saying a couple weeks ago that I could see them pairing Breeze up with Miz. Bring him in as Miz's personal assistant or his "Social Media Manager," something like that, but eventually Breeze starts to see himself as the star of the show, leading to their split. Kind of like a Matt Hardy-Shannon Moore thing, but with the aim of eventually making Breeze a strong solo act.
