  3. Lawler would finally be able to contribute to the product again.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Think about that for perspective. WWE had one of the worst RAW's I've ever seen. And TNA answers with Brodus Clay vs. Bobby Lashley. This is why Vince always wins in the end.

The wrestling world is like a Choose Your Own Adventure book where all endings lead to Vince wins.

    ReplyDelete
  5. On,y would have taken 13 years.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Maybe Brodus could cut a scathing and edgy promo about how he was held back, and scripted to lose fake matches, but now he'll totally be scripted to WIN those fake matches!!

    ReplyDelete
  7. I really wish WWE would go to bat for a bloody, graphic Hell in the Cell match instead of a lesbian angle.

    ReplyDelete
  8. What's his WWE-lite TNA name? Hermanodus Putty?

  9. I love how there is "no timetable" for the cartoons, because adding 26 cartoons to an online feed obviously can't be determined easily

As a kid, watching Hulk Hogan's Rock 'N Wrestling, I was singing along with the theme song, chanting "Hulk" over and over again. My aunt heard me from the other room, thought I was saying "fuck," shut off the TV and sent me to my room.

I had no idea what was going on, because she didn't want to repeat what she thought I said to a kid and wouldn't listen to my explanation and no one else was home, so I was basically grounded for most of the day until someone came home and asked what happened.

  12. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarSeptember 18, 2014 at 7:53 AM

How do you NOT care about Hulk Hogan's Rock 'N Wrestling? I mean, sure, not to the extent of AJ-Paige PG flirting, but still!

"Why am I wasting my time with you, Cole?" while giving him a really long death stare. I'd watch that shit.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Well here's the one guy that will at least pretend like this lesbian angle is anything other than a train wreck and a horrible idea.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarSeptember 18, 2014 at 7:55 AM

Just hire Dory and Terry to be his back-up dancers.

  21. Now we're cookin' with GAS!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarSeptember 18, 2014 at 7:56 AM

I don't see how they ever get away with an AJ-Paige lesbian angle with PG constraints. Plus, I don't think Paige has anywhere near the charisma (or looks) of Trish or Mickie, which is what helped get that angle over.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Also, TNA should bring in Pete Gas for a segment called Cooking With Gas.

Pete Gas isn't dead, is he?

    ReplyDelete
  24. .... It's AJ, teasing with another girl... I could not possibly care less about any attached storyline.

  25. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarSeptember 18, 2014 at 7:57 AM

A quick Google search says no.

    ReplyDelete
  26. God only knows what they will actually do in the execution of this angle but we can all rest assured that it will draw zero interest in their product only create embarrassment for any current fans.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Paige < Trish, but way > Mickie. Never was into MIckie, and I really like Paige and A.J. This is fantastic news.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarSeptember 18, 2014 at 8:02 AM

Well, different strokes (pun intended), I guess. But I'd take Trish and Mickie over AJ and Paige any day of the week. And twice on I'm Hardcore day.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Also, not to nitpick, but this a gimmick inconsistency. Just last night you said you only care as a fan about what will Vince McMahon the most money regardless of the quality. White thunders suggestion that you "flamed" him for would draw more money than a divas lesbian angle.

Just as a wrestling fan I'd rather see them let a guy blade once a year in a cage match them run some garbage like this, but even from your perspective you should agree with WT because his idea is the more profitable one.

    ReplyDelete
  30. 1) For someone that needs a mouthpiece I find most of Brock's talking segments to be quite entertaining.

    2) One appearance is probably all we will need.

    3) Yawn.

    4) I'd like to say I'm not pumped up about this but I'd be lying. I'm pretty jacked that this campy stuff is going to be on the Network. Surely it's not as funny as I thought but it's still probably better than Slam City.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'l throw hundred dollar bills at my TV screen to see AJ and Paige hook up. And i'd buy the entire uncensored/unedited library. So it would sure as hell make money.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I absolutely remember watching this show but I cant remember who did the voices. Hopefully they don't sound too off. Either way I'll watch it for sure. (Or at least the first couple).

    ReplyDelete
  33. Brad Garrett was Hulk!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Dude the think your using to type on this blog right now has access to every kind of lesbian you could imagine (and more you couldn't) at your fingertips within seconds. You don't need Vince McMahon to give you jo material.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I hope someone could go back and edit together every example of an ex-WWE guy debuting in TNA and cutting a promo about how they won't be held back anymore.

That's literally the go-to line in every ex-WWE guy's debut promo in TNA.

  37. Apparently uncle Phil is jyd!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Even the Ultima ending?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Meh, I'm with white thunder. I want hard hitting matches from vince, not some sure to be awful lesbian angle that will embarass the fan base and never really payoff anyways (and even if it does this is 2014, I could two gorgeous lesbians do anything to each other any time I wanted).

    ReplyDelete
  40. you could also watch any cage match with blood that you want within seconds.

And you can do it, FOR ONLY, $9.99!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. But I can watch the lesbians for FREE! So fuck $9.99.

    ReplyDelete
  42. So... Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n Wrestling goes up before Saturday Night or Prime Time. Of course.

    ReplyDelete
  43. So, are we getting Sting vs HHH at Wrestlemania 31? Sting shows up to take out The Authority?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Brock is good in a pre-taped setting, he doesn't like doing the live promos.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Threadjack: Jim Ross' podcast with Bill Watts is outstanding. A lot of great old school talk, and Watts nails everything that is wrong with WWE.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yep, cause Watts' vision sure turned 1992 WCW and 1995 WWF into super juggernauts!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Plus see any lesbian sex I want for free. Believe me VJ, I so love the future!

    ReplyDelete
  48. This is the last time i will reply this, as I don't wanna sound repetitive, but...

    AJ.

    ReplyDelete
  49. 1992 wcw was pretty good, and 1995 WWF > 2014 wwe but I'm not a watts fan either and I hated the MVC.

    ReplyDelete
  50. 2. I hope we get blond crewcut Sting

    3. I wouldn't be mad if there were some HLA, but I don't see a good wrestling angle. Just let them fight.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hey 1992 WCW is awesome?

    ReplyDelete
  52. The product was fine, but didn't it lose lots of money, just like most WCW years at the time? Plus the roster was miserable, according to Foley's book.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Crewcut sting? aka, surfer sting? Now I am picturing Hans Moleman saying "Kawabunga", while wearing Bart's outfit.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Which still doesn't mean that he's wrong on this particular topic.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Just tired of all the "This sucks, I would be so much better if I was in charge" type talk (which I am guessing is what's going on there. 2 bitter old men saying "back in my day, we wrestled while walking 18 miles both ways in 3 feet of snow!!"

    ReplyDelete
  56. So the nxt divas get twice as much $ as the nxt guys because "their up keep is more expensive"

That tells me that everyone thinking maybe the nxt geeks got lots of built in perks are probably wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarSeptember 18, 2014 at 8:35 AM

Blond crewcut Sting will only happen if WWE still has those Zack Ryder fake hair wigs. They cut them down, take off the headband, toss it on the Stinger.

    ReplyDelete
  58. How about listening to it before jumping to conclusions?

    ReplyDelete
  59. Meltzer actually said that watts came close to breaking even for WCW. It wasn't until bischoff that turner gave WCW an open check book to do whatever they want. You really don't think turner would've bought every wwf wrestler out after their contracts expired back in the late 80s?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yeah what did Jim Ross ever accomplish as VP of talent relations anyways. He should shut his mouth and enjoy the Bella's angle. You tell em VJ!

    ReplyDelete
  61. It's Jim Ross and Bill Watts. I think i have a good enough power of perception to connect the dots. :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarSeptember 18, 2014 at 8:37 AM

The Watts decision of taking away the mats outside the ring was stupid. I completely understood the reasoning behind the top rope ban (as Watts himself explained it) but when they are trying to build a division around Flyin' Brian and Jushin Liger, maybe not the most thought-out move.

Also, Williams and Gordy were terrible as main event tag team heels.

Giving the strap to Vader, though? All the wins.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Wasn't he confirmed as the one in charge of most of 1995 WWF? Fail.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Didn't Watts give it to Simmons, then Bischoff immediately give it back to Vader when he took over?

    ReplyDelete
  65. I see you point lol

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yup he was a total fail you never did anything good. Your a true historian of wrestling and obviously know exactly what your talking about!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Can I mix and match? My sequence here is AJ, Trish, Paige, Mickie.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Like you wouldn't want to see HHH kissing Sting's head like a peanut.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarSeptember 18, 2014 at 8:40 AM

Watts gave it to Vader, then Simmons (Vader's injury status, I believe, is questionable). Vader may have been meant as a transition champ, but the win propelled him into main event territory that he may not have had without Watts there.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I'd been hoping they would add Rock N' Wrestling!

Am I still allowed to post here while being happy with something that is done with the network?

    ReplyDelete
  71. This adds a lot! Ty!

    ReplyDelete
  72. And after the AJ Styles & Sting disasters, where JR basically interviewed himself and the guests were left to just agree with what he said, Ross has learned to step back and let the guests be the focal point of the show.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarSeptember 18, 2014 at 8:41 AM

  75. Dude, we agree on a bunch of stuff, but you're completely nuts if you A) Don't think that Jim Ross as one of the most important officials during the fucking 90s boom period doesn't have an excellent behind-the-scenes resume, and B) Jim Ross isn't qualified to critique current WWE.

You're allowed to be ok with people critiquing WWE. Deep breaths. It's OK.

    The Professor?

    ReplyDelete
  82. I thought that Vader was injured, which was why Simmons won it in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  83. A Sting Wrestlemania rumor? How novel.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Hell no. The network sucks! they only delivered on 184 of their 187 promises!!!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Its hysterical how little you know but how decisive your opinions are.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarSeptember 18, 2014 at 8:44 AM

That's the story that makes the rounds, but it doesn't really jive with Vader's schedule after the title loss. He didn't really miss much time.

    ReplyDelete
  87. 411 has a "news item" about Austin getting in shape for a possible WM match. No seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I AM GOING TO CANCEL!

    (Does not cancel, just complains)

    ReplyDelete
  89. Are you drunk or typing from your phone

    ReplyDelete
  90. 1995 hold up pretty good and is definitely better as a total package then what we have now.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Williams and Gordy needed a mouthpiece. They should have just been asskicking destroyers with someone like Dangerously to do all the talking.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarSeptember 18, 2014 at 8:45 AM

I think it was the Professor. Mary Ann seemed to have a thing for Gilligan.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Yeah, he didn't look injured in that match either. He put it on Ron pretty good.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I never saw one episode, but I will just say that the TBS Gilligan reality show from about 10 years ago was the most idiotic, blatant Survivor Ripoff in history.

    ReplyDelete
  95. WILL HE BE VINCE'S AVATAR AGAINST HHH?!?!?!?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  96. How did 95 hold up good? Gave us two of the worst PPVS ever

    ReplyDelete
  97. Kotr 95 > battleground 2014

    ReplyDelete
  98. It was apparently Watts' "go to" move to put the title on a black babyface. So I'm guessing it was the plan all along.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarSeptember 18, 2014 at 8:47 AM

Yeah, if Paul E. was still around (he was gone by now, right?) Williams and Gordy would have been perfect under his employ.

    ReplyDelete
  100. That's the brilliance of my plan.

    ReplyDelete
  101. God bless Terry Gordy. Every time I think of him, I hear him saying "MYYYYYYYY BROTHER".

    ReplyDelete
  102. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarSeptember 18, 2014 at 8:48 AM

CM PUNK! CM PUNK! CM PUNK!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Hulk Hogan's Rock N' Wrestling was horrible even by 80's product placement 80's cartoon standards

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fu9TbilwhOw

But you do get to see Hogan leading a huge group of people as they run away from the World Trade center at about 42 seconds into the video. In retrospect that's a pretty interesting visual

    ReplyDelete
  104. I don't particularly enjoy the Network, but I don't see how that's WWE's fault. The only reason I bought it was to watch Daniel Bryan in PPV matches (I was a huge fan in ROH), Nitros, and ECWs. Bryan getting hurt isn't their fault and I'm in a minority with wanting to watch Nitros and ECWs. I'm keeping it now with the hope they add more Nitros and ECWs and I'll cancel if they don't. It still seems like an excellent deal for anyone interested in current WWE.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Yeah, you know me.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I'd take this seriously if you didn't just jump for joy at how great a wwe lesbian angle is going to be and if you knew who Jim Ross was.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarSeptember 18, 2014 at 8:57 AM

You've never seen an episode of Gilligan's Island? I didn't think you were one of the sub-25 set here, Vince...

    ReplyDelete
  108. Honestly, it's still likely better than the indies. I don't know what ROH pays, but I can't imagine any other indie paying anywhere close to $500/week.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Who says you cant have both of those in the same match?

    ReplyDelete
  110. So United Kingdom=4 countries, Great Britain=3. Cool learned something new.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Fun fact: I only heard about it for the first time in 1989 in an episode of Full House, and I think just once did I ever see a rerun, but I had to go to work. Don't spoil it though, I totally wonder if they're gonna get off that island!

    ReplyDelete
  112. I have no doubt it was all just a commercial to sell toys but I'll take a little nostalgia is in 20 minute blasts I suppose.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Lawler yelling "PUPPIES!" at AJ and Paige would be a misnomer. Don't get me wrong they are both good looking, but lacking in the bosom department.

    ReplyDelete
  114. You know who was in Full house? Canadian born Comedic Genius Dave Coulier!

    ReplyDelete
  115. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarSeptember 18, 2014 at 8:58 AM

    ReplyDelete
  124. Match quality was fine for the most part. But I remember hearing about Ron Simmons defending his title in front of embarrassingly low, TNA level crowds. Again, star ratingz don't pay dem bills!

    ReplyDelete
  125. 2014 has been very bad, but i stil dont think it comes close to the horrid that was '95.

    ReplyDelete
  129. i didnt like brock cena at summer slam that much, but the other matches you listed were good. I'm really hoping NOC will be as good as their ER 2012 matchup.

You're dealing with the wrong kind of lesbian.

    ReplyDelete
  139. hey hes still the only tur black heavyweight champion in big promotion history.

    ReplyDelete
  140. It's official...the people running the network have NO idea what we want to see.

    ReplyDelete
  141. TJ: Why is Jeff Hardy the "Charismatic Enigma"? All because he bops his head up and down, kisses his fingers, paints his face, and can fall off stuff high up in the air well? None of this sounds either charismatic and enigmatic.

Plus, too many fat goth chicks flood an audience when he's there. The sadness is overwhelming.

I guess what I'm saying is fuck Jeff Harvey.

    ReplyDelete
  142. I adore the Network and would be absolutely livid if it failed.

That said, I'm not exactly thrilled about the erratic uploading, and all the missing patches in the programming. I get the idea of a progressive rollout, but I feel like they're leaving a lot of money on the table by not syncing up the original programming with the classic programming. The Monday Night War would have the potential to be a lot more interesting if we could watch the doc and then go into the archives to watch the Raws/Nitros they're talking about.

My frustration with the Network is less related to not getting what I want, and more to do with how WWE doesn't seem that keen on giving this thing the best possible chance of succeeding. Stop promoting the pricing point and promote the content! More importantly, promote the classic content. Nobody is getting the Network because they want to watch Slam City or Countdown or Total Divas reruns. We get enough of the current product for free each week.

    ReplyDelete
  143. You guys are just not seeing the bigger picture here:
Sting being at Wrestlemania gives a bigger stage to the foreboding danger of the loss of the global honeybee population.
So you better bone up on your insurance.

    ReplyDelete
  144. "I was at a pornography store. I was buying pornography!"

    ReplyDelete
  145. Maybe a post game is the better way to go. Ad rates are probably way less between 10-11 than 8-9 so the ratings issue might not be as big to universal and they lose a huge chunk at that time anyways. Plus the network post show was decent and might make for good TV.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I think Watts fired him b/c he was making too much money (in Watts opinion).

    ReplyDelete
  147. I don't want a lesbian angle because I'm almost positive that, after years of uninterrupted privacy, THAT will be the moment where my grandmother, my ex-girlfriend, my boss, and That One Hot Teacher You Liked In High School all decide to come strolling through my house.

    ReplyDelete
  148. either Kane or Big Show should turn on Sting at Wrestlemania. Sting would never see it coming!

    ReplyDelete
  149. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarSeptember 18, 2014 at 9:37 AM

Oh, I agree that the management and planning of the Network is horrid (or non-existent) and I'm sure that this has everything to do with the fact that non-wrestling people are running the damned thing.

But for what it is, I have no problem paying $9.99 - I get PPVs that I watch while participating in a live thread here, NXT and a back catalog to use as background noise.

  151. They have been doing a better job lately of promoting content on RAW, in addition to the price point.

Also, whiny New Yorker and tough southern bastard probably don't go well together.

  153. Do you subscribe to it?

  154. I'm about 100% certain he's not even sure what the word means he tacks it onto everything. Another few months and he'll be sending Vince Charismatic Resume's.

  155. Nooooooooooobody cares about Sting.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Here's an unpopular opinion alert: I like Jeff Hardy way more than Jericho. Both as a worker and character

    ReplyDelete
  157. Mouth tasting like copper? Pain in the left arm?

    ReplyDelete
  158. Hardy was awesome from around 2007 to 2009. He was the perfect opponent for both Umaga and a rising CM Punk.

  159. Strike while the iron is ice cold and everyone has forgotten all about it.

    ReplyDelete
  160. I would've cared if they debuted him directly after that incredible WWE'14 promo with the Sting mask wearing orchestra.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Well the wwe character anyways. I don't really count TNA.

    ReplyDelete
  162. The Network? Nope. But I'm sure i'd find enough good things about it to keep myself from whining about it not being perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  163. For me, it was WM 27 against Taker, or GTFO.

    ReplyDelete
  164. I don't really see how his failure to create a new boom period translates to him not being able to pinpoint key things WWE is doing wrong.

For example, even though Bill Watts came to the asinine decision to remove ring mats and ban top rope moves, secondary titles still mattered in the promotions he booked, and top faces generally took things seriously and built feuds without making a bunch of lousy jokes. We also didn't have PPV opponents fighting all the time on free TV, nor did we two top PPV opponents fighting on TV the week before the show. With a clean finish and everything.

Roger Ebert was the first person to admit that he was a terrible screenwriter. But you don't have to be good at something to be able to dissect it.

  165. I've been getting it free four weeks running now, I think they forgot about me, SiriusWWE indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  166. I was just wondering yesterday when the last time Lawler got to scream "PUPPIES!" I don't watch all that often, but I'm assuming it's been years.

    ReplyDelete
  167. I don't mind it going up at some point. Everything should go up at some point and kids might enjoy it but they need to put up the stuff might bring new people and retain the people they already have. This does neither.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Seriously? I'll have to give it another shot I bagged out on his podcast several weeks ago for that very reason.

    ReplyDelete
  169. That would have been the most optimal timing and I don't even know what Sting has done in the 3 years since then that he couldn't have jumped. I was a huge sting fan when he was in wcw and really wanted him to jump to wwe for years and years after 2001 but I can't see how this ship hasn't 100% sailed. At best I could see him doing a goofy Bret hart vs vkm type match and really who wants to see that?

    ReplyDelete
  170. Wow, I did not totally foresee a complaint about the network portion of this update.

    ReplyDelete
  171. I'm not whining because I don't have anything to watch. I have plenty and am will not whine like that until I run out of things to watch. My comment came from "I like the network. I want the WWE to succeed with the network and putting up things like Rock N Wrestling when there is soooo much else to put up, things actual subscribers are crying for, shows me they have no idea what the fans want.

    ReplyDelete
  172. This...seems impossible to me. I feel like I wrote the show I watched it so much as a kid.

    ReplyDelete
  173. I WANNA WATCH OBSCURE SQUASH MATCHES FROM THE EARLY 80'S DAMN IT!! WHY DON'T THEY DO WHAT I WANT???

    ReplyDelete
  174. My guess is teaming him with Taker to face the Wyatts. A brawling style tag match would help hide their weaknesses at this point even though that isn't as intriguing a matchup as it could've been in years past.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Why didnt he just hire Paul Meekin to ghost write his screenplays. I mean he was right there as his 2nd in command the whole time.

    ReplyDelete
  176. I think the last 3 episodes with Stan Hansen, Vince Russo, and Bill Watts have been his best efforts at not being the star of his own show.

    ReplyDelete
  177. And it drove me up a fucking wall when WWE started doing it with Ziggler. Thank God they had the good sense to drop the "I'm getting held back even though I'm better than everyone here!" angle.

Hopefully, TNA learns at some point. But I have more faith in my 6-year-old nephew learning C++ before TNA learns from its mistakes.

    ReplyDelete
  178. It all depends on how he's used. He can't be the guy to carry a Roman Reigns to a great match, but let someone like Rollins fly around the ring for him and you could get a nice little match.

    ReplyDelete
  179. Is it too much to ask that the wwe network keep updating Monday night raw or does that make me a terrible person and a cry baby?

    ReplyDelete
  180. He should do exactly what Warrior did, walk out during the HoF intro portion, cut a promo on Raw the next night, die so we never have to hear rumors about another match.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Yep, even with Punk's pipebomb promo where he said he's better than Cena, I was thinking "Um... Then why is he champ, and you're not? Why have you lost your last 3 big feuds against Rey, Show and Orton?"

    ReplyDelete
  182. First it was "Where are all the Clashes!?!"

    We got the Clashes.

Then it was "Where are all the SNMEs!?!?"

    We got those too.

    "Where the fuck is Nitro!?!"

We have the first two years now.

Everybody chill the fuck out about the Network. Jesus.

    ReplyDelete
  183. "Oh yeah well you love Sting! "
"No you do! You're gay for Sting!"
    "You're gay for the Sting!"

    Sting: "Nobody's gay for Sting. :( "

  184. That show was also the best window to do Austin - Punk.
