BoD Daily Update

Update on the Future of TNA

Right now, TNA does not have any scheduled domestic events for the rest of 2015. At the most recent TV tapings, Dixie Carter told the talent that she guarantees TNA will be on television January 7, 2015, which is the first Wednesday after their contract with Spike TV ends. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has reported that a lot of people close to the situation believe that TNA will be around in 2015 but that no one knows at what level the promotion will continue to run (either a "bare bones" company, at the level of RoH, or at their current level). TNA has also told it's talent that they can accept independent dates without contacting the office first. Also, TNA took the belts off of people that they were unsure would actually be there with the company in 2015, making sure their champions are those under long-term deals. As far as Impact on Spike is concerned, its expected that the last Impact will air on 11/26 and that the rest of the shows will be "Best Of" or other compilation shows. TNA has been talking with both the Velocity Network and WGN and its believed that they are also talking with CMT. The 4th network has been reported as not being a cable station

Possible Sign That Steve Austin Could Return to Television?

The WWE has told it's distributors to go into heavy production of Austin's merchandise

When Will Kevin Steen Debut in NXT?

The belief is that Steen will debut at the next NXT taping. One source told Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com that he believed the company was staggering the debuts of all the new signings so that they can maximize each one.

RF Video Releases Shoot Interview with Eric Bischoff

Below is the trailer, which is 17 minutes long. The shoot interview is a two-disc set totaling five hours.

Comments

  1. I'd feel sorry for TNA, but... I just simply don't.

And I've never seen Steen (that's hard to believe I know, lulzfat), but I'm looking forward to it. There must be something good about him.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Should WWE buy TNA? I'm not sure who's left, but I would think there'd be some wrestlers they would bring in either to the main roster or NXT.

    ReplyDelete
  3. In all honesty, Steen is good on the mic and in the ring. He has trimmed down his weight too.

For some odd reason CMT makes...sense.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I think TNA is going to be a smaller promotion and rely on cheap, younger talent and survive that way.

    ReplyDelete
  6. just before I saw the bank draft which said $8016, I didn't believe ...that...my friends brother could realey making money parttime from there

pretty old laptop.. there uncles cousin has done this for less than 18 months and by now repaid the dept on their house and bought a brand new Mercedes. we looked here,... http://supercashfund/@@@...

If NXT was kept as a separate entity (which will never happen) I'd say yes.

There is a bot running an invasion angle in this thread.

    ReplyDelete
  9. So he seems to have the opposite attitude that Chris Hero did. Good for him.

    ReplyDelete
  10. No. No they shouldn't, and they won't. they're not worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Awesome, just let me tell my boss that I quit. "SEE YOU SUCKAS LATER!!!"

    ReplyDelete

5 hours? Wow that's...that's a lot of Uncle Eric. You up for the task Brian?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Looks good. Might pick that up the next time RF Video has a sale

    ReplyDelete
  14. These bots would fool more people if they learned proper grammar and sentence structure.

    ReplyDelete
  15. The bold lettering screams that they need too much attention too

    ReplyDelete
  16. Meltzer had a really good piece in the Observer about TNA this week. Above was just a small summarization.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Considering the company's roots, CMT makes perfect sense. So I'd say we can safely rule them out.

    ReplyDelete
  18. What about the tape library?

Actually, would TNA have kept their tape library?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Dixie Carter: "There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?"

    ReplyDelete
  20. Depends on the price. If it's low enough where they can get the library and ditch everything else, they'll do it in a heartbeat.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wolves would definitely be kept, Joe too if he wanted to, maybe Roode. Hardy is a possibility too. Outside shot at the Dudleys and maybe some of the knockouts and that's it. Oh, and MVP could probably get re-hired if he tried.

    ReplyDelete
  22. They passed on the Wolves already this year after a NXT tryout

    ReplyDelete
  23. Did you see the Brodus YouShoot? That might have been the worst KC release ever.

    ReplyDelete
  24. So I'm assuming Sean Morley was not a KC release? Or was it *THAT* bad?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I bet TNA finds a way to survive. This organization's demise has been reported on for years and it just keeps on going. It's like the cockroach of wrestling companies.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Someone is going to get squashed royally at the next BoD RAW.

    ReplyDelete
  27. You know what, you might be right about that. The Brodus YouShoot was terrible as well. He did not say anything of note and tried to be funny.

    ReplyDelete
  28. He didn't fall out of shape until after he was cut.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Had they been patient, they would have gotten signed, especially now that it seems HHH has gotten over his "too many indie guys" mindset.

    ReplyDelete
  30. lulz fake politicz lol

    ReplyDelete
  31. Did he spend a majority of the time talking about the legalization of pot?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I know it's just rumorz, but wasn't the whole reason he got cut because he was showing lazy habits?

    ReplyDelete
  33. He plummeted out of shape. Early 80's WWF jobbers had better physiques than he does now

    ReplyDelete
  34. How they never got Raven for a year I'll never know. Maybe they could do a tandem ECW/WCW 96 timeline with him.

    ReplyDelete
  35. And they are getting RVD for 99

    ReplyDelete
  36. I don't want to live in a world without TNA on Spike TV. WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Vince already has. Thus the world is subjected to John Cena's Technicolor Wardrobe.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The latest news has me thinking TNA's going away. There's no fucking way they're going to automatically start producing TV shows after their deal with Spike officially ends in Thanksgiving.

    ReplyDelete
  39. My theory is they were just looking for an excuse to cut him. His body looked no different than Punk or a handful of other WWE guys. Some people just can't get ripped naturally.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Comparing the TNA story with the nXt story really is the Tale of Two Companies

    ReplyDelete
  41. So he was Skinny/Fat then?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Meltzer really needs to knock it off with the speculation. He's come out with reports saying 4 networks are interested including WGN America and now CMT is interested then says TNA will be barely alive in 2015. The guy is covering ALL of his bases because he has no insiders giving him information in TNA anymore. He has been incorrect with all of his "news" regarding TNA this year.

    ReplyDelete
  43. What part of "WWE passed on them" are you struggling with?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Meltzer is lost when it comes to TNA. Don't take anything his says as gospel. TNA could've already signed a deal with a new network.

    ReplyDelete
  45. There's no way they signed a new deal. TNA is dead.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Well now you sound like Mr Heckles in Friends. "They COULD have signed to a network... I could have birds..."

    ReplyDelete
  47. They took the belts off of everyone not signed to a long-term deal. That right there tells you they are unsure of the future

    ReplyDelete
  48. (sigh), Sure, I'll pull it out of mothballs.

    TNA GONNA DIE! SOONER!

    ReplyDelete
  49. They'll be on TV next year. Dixie has already stated so. People need to chill with the "TNA IS DEAD!" stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Meltzer never said they were dead.

    ReplyDelete
  51. They passed on Ricochet despite the fact he reportedly blew everyone away at the tryout camp because he was too small

    ReplyDelete
  52. Dixie says a lot of things. Dixie came off as an idiot in the Grantland article.

    ReplyDelete
  53. If Dixie told you to jump off a cliff, you would, wouldn't you? Don't deny it, don't wait for the translation, ANSWER THE QUESTION!

    ReplyDelete
  54. No, JR's not going to save them.

    ReplyDelete
  55. They aren't signing anyone to long term deals until they finalize the TV deal. You notice the guys with contracts expiring aren't bolting anywhere else, right? They are pretty much on hold until January.

The same Dave Meltzer reported two days ago that TNA is going to run a live TV special January 7th on the new channel from NYC. He also said that CMT and another big network wants TNA.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Insufficient number of slobberknockers for that.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Grantland can cherry pick quotes from her. She's not stupid. Without her, TNA wouldn't have even survived or been on Spike in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  58. You ever read her congressional testimony? If she's not stupid, she plays a very convincing stupid person.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Sure because she has money. All companies are meant to eventually come to an end. Given their history of incompetence, TNA has had a good run.

    ReplyDelete

Meltzer is lost when it comes to TNA. Don't take anything his says as gospel. TNA could've already signed a deal with a new network.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Exactly what I am saying. Meltzer is bi-polar when it comes to TNA.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Ricochet is another guy that will get signed. He is too talented not to.

And the Wolves are faaaaaaar from vanilla.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I've seen some of her segments on Impact. She's not that good of an actress *rimshot*

    ReplyDelete
  64. Davey Richards is vanilla.
Edwards you can make a case for

    ReplyDelete
  65. LOL we are doing this again.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I know it would make no difference to the product, but I think I would enjoy NXT more if it was called ECW.

    ReplyDelete
  67. For the Meltzer followers, how come no one posted his report a couple weeks ago about a company wanting to buy into TNA and they were told it would cost them $10 million? TNA is nowhere near extinct and I feel sorry for those that think they are.

    ReplyDelete
  68. It's a bit extreme to feel sorry for us. We just think the company is dead. Nothing to prove us wrong either.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Keep right on grasping at those straws.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Davey would get over in WWE just based off his ring work. And the 20 minute promo on live tv is going to be eventually a thing of the past.

    ReplyDelete
  71. You said they aren't signing anyone to long term deals until they finalize the TV deal.

Below you said they could've already signed a deal

    ReplyDelete
  72. How long will it take to chase him off?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Uh... That Grantland piece was a puff piece that was supposed to make Dixie look GOOD. If they were cherry-picking quotes, think of all the retarded quotes that are on the scrap room floor.

    ReplyDelete
  74. It would be an honour to feature in you guys' fantasy professional wrestling promotion.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Talking about buying the tape library, buying TNA, and signing their wrestlers is a bit over the top, don't you think? lol

    ReplyDelete
  76. Your nickname can be "Grammar Cop!"

    ReplyDelete
  77. He asks for updates and gets vague responses from the company, most likely because they are unsure themselves.
And he never once said that the company is dying.
You do realize they have not officially signed a deal.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I'm sorry but my TNA defending is at least a lot less offensive than your jokes about cancer and school shooters.

    ReplyDelete
  79. True. Why would WWE waste money on such a worthless product?

    ReplyDelete
  80. "John and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamshirt"...coming to Broadway!

    ReplyDelete
  81. TNA doesn't like Meltzer. Why would they give him updates? He has no one inside the company to leak him stuff so he either makes it up or has to call around.

    ReplyDelete
  82. They wouldn't buy their library. They have no real use for it. Add it to a Best of Christian DVD?

    ReplyDelete
  83. I don't work for TNA. Who knows what they have/have not done?

    ReplyDelete
  84. You can buy my wrestling company. I'll sell it to you for $10 million. The fact that I want $10 million shows how strong the company is. Never mind we have no tv or talent. Give me $10 million.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Oh, so TNA should just be left to wander the wastes, their "assets" unwanted by all just in case Dixie's daddy loses his fucking mind and throws MORE good money after what's already been burnt.

    ReplyDelete
  86. We always remember the good times.

    ReplyDelete
  87. TNA would be better off having Don West sell the tape library on the Home Shopping Network. "I've got a mint condition Sting vs Samoa Joe 2007 match and for the next ten minutes, you can own it for $25."

    ReplyDelete
  88. It's almost as if you guys don't want ANY competition for WWE. TNA going out of business would be the worst thing for the wrestling business since WCW was bought. MORE BUNNIES!

    ReplyDelete
  89. You speculate on their future even more than Meltzer. You have no insiders and your opinion means nothing. Give it up. You know NOTHING.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yeah, it's not like they have a network that is struggling for content and subscriptions.

    ReplyDelete
  91. When it comes to TNA, I am equal with Meltzer.

    ReplyDelete
  92. It wouldn't affect WWE at all.

    ReplyDelete
  93. You are a stupid man. TNA has NEVER been "competition" for WWE in the first place, and the times where they could even see WWE in the distance were promptly FUBARed "Because TNA says fuck you, that's why."

    ReplyDelete
  94. No but it has been a place for other wrestlers to go to and another company on national TV for wrestling fans to watch. Monopolies suck.

    ReplyDelete
  95. If they could buy it for the cheap, whatever.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I agree with TNA going out of business being horrible but the thing is, TNA has been run like shit for too long.
Impact failed to crack the top 100 cable shows Wednesday night so lets not pretend like they are doing great .

    ReplyDelete
  97. Can I also keep this old bird cage?

    ReplyDelete
  98. WWE hasn't had competition since 2001. What does TNA have to do with this?

    ReplyDelete
  99. 969,000 viewers still isn't bad considering it's fall premier week. RAW took a hit as well. If TNA goes under, do you think there is a market for GFW on national TV?

    ReplyDelete
  100. I'm calling the cardboard box "stage" Abyss plummeted into a couple times.

    ReplyDelete
  101. They didn't crack the top 100. Cops reruns beat it out again.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I think they have a WAY better chance than TNA, just because there's no "stench" on them yet. That'll come when Double J wins their first world title.

    ReplyDelete
  103. If they have a competent marketing department, then sure anything can happen.
Listen to AJ, Kazarian, and Daniels just to see how pathetic that company is being run.

    ReplyDelete
  104. And unlike the 90s and ECW, there will be so few TNA defenders that the 1 AM timeslot will be their final resting place.

    ReplyDelete
  105. AJ is very bitter. Eveyone was expected to take a paycut, he wanted a giant raise. He hasn't exactly been a huge draw in TNA when it comes to ticket sales/TV ratings so why hang on to him? Same goes for Kaz and Daniels. They were making like $200,000 each. Why pay that to 40 year olds that don't draw a dime?

    ReplyDelete
  106. And for the record, TNA has been putting on good shows of late but they don't have anymore events scheduled in the U.S. for 2014 and nothing is building up to Bound for Glory so that tells me that they are very, very unsure about the future

    ReplyDelete
  107. Nobody in the history of TNA has ever drawn a dime, with the exception of ONE Angle/Joe PPV match. So yeah, I have a feeling TNA is to blame for that.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Reminds me of 2001 WCW. Their shows were not that bad near the end.

    ReplyDelete
  109. AJ said how they would be in town for a PPV and there would not be a single advertisement anywhere so no one would even know about it.

    ReplyDelete
  110. That might be what gets me the most. (other than home grown stars losing to ex WWE guys). PUT MONEY IN THE DAMN ADVERTISING BUDGET!!! LET PEOPLE KNOW YOU ARE COMING TO THEIR TOWN!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Those last few PPV's had a lot of good matches.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Jason Jett!

    ReplyDelete
  113. To bring another sport into it:

    WWE: Browns
    TNA: Northwestern

    ReplyDelete
  114. Its amazing to listen to their stories about how that company is run. I don't think Dixie took Business 101 in college.

    ReplyDelete
  115. The cruiser weight tag matches were fun

    ReplyDelete
  116. Because that report is obviously untrue.
How is a company with no TV contract, no desirable talent, and a worthless tape library worth $10 million? You could ask to buy my dirty laundry and I'll tell you it costs $10 million, doesn't mean that it actually is.

Anyway, TNA dies in a few weeks. Woo-hoo!

    ReplyDelete
  117. You're just a guy who isn't an authority on anything and has no sources on anything. No one subscribes to your opinions and you get mad and run away. You're a sensitive sad man.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Nope lolololol

    ReplyDelete
  119. TNA isn't competition for WWE, and that's the problem.

Things that don't work should die off, and hopefully something better rises in its place.

    ReplyDelete
  120. TNA will surely bring in a massive amount of subscriptions. Hey fans now you can see that wrestling show you never watched on TV for only 9.99 a month.

    ReplyDelete
  121. TNA content wouldn't mean jack shit though. It's almost worthless.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Did you ever try watching the Piper timeline?

I threw in the towel after 10 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  123. I wasn't going to subscribe to the network, but now I can watch The Dupp's wrestle from 2003. TAKE MY 9.99!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  124. HAHAHAHAHA, so they could have saved the company--- they just don't want to? Jesus christ you're ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Don't forget Cheex and the Flying elvises!

    ReplyDelete
  126. *hands tissue and ice pack*

    ReplyDelete
  127. huh, so you're saying Meekin was a bot all along?

    ReplyDelete
  128. Still in stage 1: denial.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I love when people compare stupid hobbies to abusive relationships! So cool!

    ReplyDelete
  130. More Creed today!

    ReplyDelete
  131. Considering nobody wants to buy any of those things I suppose it is over the top.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Look, I think WWF1987 is completely ridiculous in his thinking as well, but to say "Woo-Hoo!" because a company is dying...well...I'm not really sure why you feel this way.

I mean, let's say it's the worst wrestling company in history. Even then, why would you want it dead? Some guys who aren't getting paid by Vince are getting paid (hopefully at least) elsewhere. What's so bad about that? Even if the product sucks (which it does), no one forces you or anyone to watch it, but at least some wrestlers can make a little money and get exposure on TV. I don't really see the problem with that. "Woo-hoo!" is a stupid reaction.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Yeah. Anderson still being on TV. Another good reason to nuke TNA.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Because it's a blight on the wrestling industry, and everyday it's out there it just makes the overall form of wrestling look worse to potential customers and business partners.

TNA is a horribly mismanaged company run by awful, incompetent people that has put out a failing product for 10 years now. Why should we root for it to survive? Mismanaged companies that the marketplace rejects SHOULD go out of business, and hopefully something better will rise in it's place.

And not for anything, but the people working there--- from management to the wrestlers--- have had 10 years to prove that pro wrestling is what they should be doing for a living, and hell--- maybe they just shouldn't be doing this. The writers suck, the owner sucks, the marketing people suck. Go find new jobs that you don't suck at. This isn't their calling in life!

And maybe that holds true for the wrestlers too.

So no, I don't feel happy that people will lose their jobs, but honestly they weren't doing their jobs well and should all figure out something they can be better at.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Here's my opinion in it: Shitty for SOME of the wrestlers and backstage talent, but TNA's at the end of its' rope. Time to let it die, before it becomes an even larger joke on pro wrestling in general.

Best case scenario: GFW picks up the top half of TNA's remaining talent and a few Indy guys, gets a "mid-minor" TV deal, and tries to avoid TNA's worst problems. (#1: STAY OUT OF THE RING, JEFF JARRETT.)

Worst case scenario: GFW is just Jarrett's sad attempt to stay relevant "as a wrestler", and it follows TNA's worst examples, while actively shunning whatever good it did create. OR: GFW is just a Jarrett "money machine/fraud", and never actually signs anyone.

I wouldn't pay more than $5 million for your dirty laundry, you scoundrel!

    ReplyDelete
  137. Its still a place for guys to work. Less places to work is horrible for wrestling

    ReplyDelete
  138. They offered AJ half of what he was making. Who wouldn't be mad over that?

    ReplyDelete
  139. The wrestlers have no control over the marketing and management of the company. Some of them are pretty good at what they do. Do they work for a shitty company? Absolutely. But as a fan of some of their overall work, I would rather them have a job.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Yeah, I wasn't digging it and stopped.
    Its a long one too

    ReplyDelete
  141. Hey come on now. Whenever WWE doesn't book something exactly the same way I would, it's totally comparable to be being beaten up and bruised.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Hopefully a much better run place to work takes TNA's place in the next few years.
TNA's done a horrible job for 10 years. Good riddance.

    ReplyDelete
  143. And hopefully the talented workers (and lets not pretend that every wrestler on that roster is talented. Far from it. If that were true, TNA would still be in better shape than they are regardless of management.) find somewhere else to work. Hopefully a better run company pops up in the next few years. Maybe ROH increases its market share and become s a better destination for wrestlers.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Apparently that doesn't matter if the overall company sucks. Logic around here sometimes flies out the window.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Seriously? " If that were true, TNA would still be in better shape than they are regardless of management." That's a mark statement. Management is all the matters with regards to how well the product stands up. That's why Vince McMahon is the only guy that makes any real money in the industry. The wrestlers have absolutely nothing to do with how well a business is run.

    ReplyDelete
  151. I agree but at the same time, the company did this to themselves. They never advertised or promoted their homegrown talent and instead threw money and wash-ups and castoffs from the WWE.

    ReplyDelete
  152. This I can agree with.

    ReplyDelete
  153. The whole point of a Primer is to get into something that's actually happening. So that's why it's focusing on the current product. You wouldn't try to get into Pro Wrestling and avoid the current state of it completely, would you? (Yes, I realize on this board most of the people would say yes)

    ReplyDelete
  154. He's a great writer. You may not agree with him but he is one of the best, most detailed writers in terms of "mainstream" pro wrestling coverage.

    ReplyDelete
  156. He's terrible. His writing has been littered with inaccuracies that he refuses to correct.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Exactly. Also, since continuity is a thing that doesn't exist in wrestling, why would you ever recommend starting in 1993 in order to better grasp the current product? The product is so drastically different that it would only make it more difficult for the uninitiated.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Such as? When has he refused to correct them? I've heard this critique before and I'd like some examples just because I'm a pretty regular reader and don't run into too many inaccuracies in his columns that I pick up on.
