Comments

  1. Ziggler and Wyatt should be since fresh match up with entertaining results. Jericho and Orton not so much.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Dolph vs. Bray is intriguing. Randy is going over Chris to get a win after some high profile jobs.

    ReplyDelete
  3. "As of this morning, Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho and Roman Reigns vs.
Seth Rollins will be two new feuds and matches that will take place at
    Night of Champions"

Aka, we saw both of these things develop on Raw, just like everyone else did, so we are reporting this as news.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Agree on Orton/Jericho and Rollins/Reigns was inevitable.

Bray for the IC strap is unexpected though.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Dolph vs. Bray could be an interesting match if they give them some time on a PPV.

    ReplyDelete
  6. The matches were not announced yet and that can always change.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I would pay money just to see ONE post of you that doesn't defend Meltzer until the end. just ONE post where you mock his reporting style just a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Chokeslam piledriver!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yqtkpjYqq4

    ReplyDelete
  9. Okay and I would pay your for the opposite.

I don't get the big deal out of reporting that, especially in a company were everything changes on the fly.

He does a review of RAW and mentioned that when talking about the show.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Seth Rollins might end up being Daniel Bryans brother in law because I heard a rumor about Seth trying to get into JJ Bellas skinny jeans after RAW went off the air........

    ReplyDelete
  11. You wrote that in another thread too. It was ignored. Not because we didn't see it.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Dolph Ziggler is a lost cause and WWE should send him down to NXT to job to Adrian Neville for a couple of months before redebuting Dolph as The Red Rooster Jr. so he can cut passionate promos of himself going COCKADOODLEDOO and he can finally get rid of his pink homoerotic ring gear. The WWE will never trust him due to his sloppy work which ends up with him getting a concussion every couple of months... If they dont send Dolph down to NXT then they should just release him after he jobs out to younger talent for the next few months.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I would love to see Ziggler back on Wyatt job duty.

    ReplyDelete
  14. If Wyatt wins the IC title, he can sing "I've got the whhoolleee... Americas... In my hands..."

    ReplyDelete
  15. Fresh match up? Wyatt was consistently squashing Ziggler a few months ago

    ReplyDelete
  16. And the trailer for the Clay RF shoot was more informative than his entire YouShoot video

    The Ziggler/Wyatt feud intrigues me.

    ReplyDelete
  18. And Scandinavia! And Belgium! And Uganda!

    ...but not Madagascar.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Shut down all the ports!

  20. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonSeptember 9, 2014 at 7:56 AM

I didn't understand the joke until I did some research.
    ..now I wish I didn't.

    ...ow.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Passed out halfway through Raw last night so forgive me if it's already been discussed but i just saw the GIF of Seth Rollins being about 2 seconds away from being impaled by the steel cage last night. Damn that's scary stuff.

  25. They should produce some awesome matches.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonSeptember 9, 2014 at 8:02 AM

It should have been done a lot earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  28. What did you research? Rollins in cyberfights or JJ in skinny jeans?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Since Jericho is probably leaving after this month, the Orton vs. Jericho feud will probably be a one and done.

Ziggler vs. Bray is going to be awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm not saying WWE is stealing my ideas, but I mentioned last week that Nikolai Volkoff could be brought into the Rusev/Lana angle. Well...
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WobMoezcP8

    ReplyDelete
  31. I just hope the WWE sticks to the plan and has Lesnar feuding with Big Show next month.

    ReplyDelete
  32. If only to hear Scott bitch and moan about it 20 years from now.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ziggler/Bray should be great. And slowly but surely, they've rehabilitated the IC title quite a bit. Not nearly to what it once was, but it's something.

    ReplyDelete
  34. That's the sort of dangerous indie flippy crap that the Performance Center tries to weed out.

    ReplyDelete
  35. They should let the IC title main event a couple of episodes of RAW now that the WWE title is off TV.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonSeptember 9, 2014 at 8:07 AM

I agree. Same with the US title for Smackdown.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Precisely. As Orton would say "STUPID STUPID STUPID!!"

    ReplyDelete
  38. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonSeptember 9, 2014 at 8:08 AM

JJ. I didn't know who the hell that was. I've heard of the Rollins thing.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Why is Bray going to hate Ziggler? That'll be interesting. I still don't know why he hates Jericho.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I agree. Raw needs more "alternate" type main events like that. Not only does it help the IC title and the midcarders, but it doesn't burn us out on the 1-2 storylines they actually give a shit about and thus are mostly well done. They've actually done a little bit of this in recent weeks/months, with Rollins/Ambrose main eventing Raws and even some of the Bella/Steph stuff that closed a couple shows before it totally went off the rails.

We're way too far past the point of return to go back to the days when top full-time guys aren't on TV every week, but you can at least minimize them some weeks and give some shine to your Nos. 3-5 storylines as a compromise.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Was I the only one hoping Orton would turn on Rollins and Kane in the cage last night. Not go face, but strictly out for himself now. Tired of playing backseat to Rollins in the Authority. Allows them to run Orton/Reigns vs Rollins/Kane at either PPV or Raw main event. Allow Orton to get a shot at Brock down the road as well. When he had the chair above his head, I was hoping he would blast Rollins with it to make for a "memorable" Raw.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonSeptember 9, 2014 at 8:10 AM

He could just simply want the IC title belt.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Classic case of overthinking. Did you ask "Why does Austin hate this guy?" every time he gave a random stunner to someone?

    ReplyDelete
  44. He hates Jericho because Jericho claims to be a savior. Bray believes there are no saviors.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonSeptember 9, 2014 at 8:11 AM

Because it's a title and it might lead to bigger things (pay days, higher profile matches)
    or.
it's an easier belt to get than the World title belt held by Lesnar.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Because he likes shiny things?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Because Dolph panders to the crowd with his "Show Off" attitude....he wrestle for the pageantry and the applause....Bray wrestles to destroy dreams and tear out the hearts of the cheering masses....the belt would give him power and something others want.
    Or something like that .

    ReplyDelete
  48. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonSeptember 9, 2014 at 8:13 AM

Maybe they'll fight over who has the stringiest damaged hair.
Kevin Nash will be brought in as a consultant for this angle.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Sometimes yes, yes I did.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Seth could've easily gotten into the ring. The cage even froze for a second but he backpedaled.

    ReplyDelete
  51. On a message board for discussing the product? Why not?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Why did Earthquake hate Jake the Snake? I dunno, they're wrestlers.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Why not? Maybe it is because Ziggler is a pretty boy? Maybe it is because Wyatt wants "the whole wide world (aka Intercontinental)" to be in his hands.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Because Quake's straight edge yo.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Ah so you're a really not funny person. Gotcha!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Let Orton beat the hell out of Jericho and send him on his way again. We love you, but it's time to hang up the boots, Chris.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I think there are valid "whys" and invalid ones.

A good why is "Why did the Wyatt Family kidnap Kane, only to have Kane come back and suddenly side with the Authority?"

A bad why is "why would this heel hate this face?" I dunno, because that's how pro wrestling works?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Makin' a Difference Quake

    ReplyDelete
  59. If the mere mention of Dave Meltzer upsets you so much avoid those portions of the Daily Update. Its about wrestling news and DM is by far the biggest and best game in town.

    ReplyDelete
  60. They really should combine the two matches and do Rollins/Orton vs Reigns and Jericho at NoC. Something about an old fashioned grudge tag team match on a PPV seems fun.
Plus they could do Kane in the heels' corner, and bring Ambrose back as a surprise to fight him off.

OR book a 6 man with Orton/Rollins/Kane vs Reigns/Jericho and a mystery partner.

    ReplyDelete
  61. But if VJ does that, there goes at least half of his material. And then what would he do?

If your answer is "Troll More.", congratulations. You have at least two working brain cells.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Its more fun to discuss the product sometimes than watch it. Why Wrestler A does B is always a good topic for a wrestling message boards and blogs IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Didn't Earthquake hate Jake because during one Superstars, Quake was coming down his aisle for his match while Jake was leaving the ring and Jake menaced him with Damian?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Sorry, we need Teddy Long for that.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Would you accept HHH imitating Teddy Long?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Could only imagine Vince's woody for getting to sit next to Shawn Michaels for the night.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Not at all. Whatever do you mean, Vintage? I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE SAYING.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Understandable, but did they *really* think they hit that big of a home run with the Mabel win that night? The fans completely lost their shit and through junk at him like he was the second coming of Roddy Piper and the entire nWo combined. You'd think someone in the back would have thought, "You know, perhaps..."

    ReplyDelete
  69. Well the fact that the fans were chanting for a rival promotion during his big heel victory moment should have been a pretty clear indication it was the wrong kind of heat.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Hah. Where are you from that you were in Philly for KOTR95? Danville is just about an hour or so north or Philly...it's in the Poconos.

    ReplyDelete
  71. intestinal fortitudeSeptember 9, 2014 at 9:04 AM

Vince's recap of the KOTR to open the show is worth watching - I think he used the phrase "and then from there" about 20 times. The usual awesome over the top announcer shilling for VKM

    ReplyDelete
  72. Strictly as a mark, it was. These days, it's a meh show. It's not outright awful (only 2 matches I'd consider "bad" but only 2-3 I'd call good), but I have no desire to rewatch it more than the occasional SummerSlam binge.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Shocked to hear Rotunda actually retired before jumping to WCW - also liked the fact Rotunda could cut a good promo. I wish Bischoff had done more with the Michael "V. K." Wall-street angle. He did cut a grade A promo prior to World War 3 and should have been instantly in the nWo from the beginning. But because Hogan an because WCW. Oh and Luger really should have shown up in American flag trunks and joined the nWo too.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I'm surprised WWE didn't have Razor go for the title more in 94 and 95. It might've been a fait accompli that he wouldn't win, but the audience was much less smart back then.

    ReplyDelete
  75. The Andy Austin vs Cena thing was a problem 2 ways. 1 - he made a very unclear comment about enjoying a woman getting hit and 2 - his comment made it appear he was looking down his nose at people who dared to enjoy Austin more than Cena.

    ReplyDelete
  76. They are doing Cena such an injustice by not openly associating him with big boob Bella. She's bad he's good. It will atleast add substance to his character as his girlfriend is evil so he questions doing what's right and what's wrong

    ReplyDelete
  77. Because no one wants to watch a re-match of a boring match

    ReplyDelete
  78. He "retired" to get out of his contract, it wasn't intended to be real.

    ReplyDelete
  79. From the way you said it - it sounded like he retired because his career was going nowhere and then Bischoff called to rescue him. A sports reporter has to be careful how he phrases things. I mean you should have gone -- this was it as IRS "retired" in order to jump to WCW in August. Big difference.

    ReplyDelete
  80. To be fair about the "I stopped watching Raw and only read the recaps online" crowd, if you've been watching Raw since the beginning and now you're reading it, you pretty much understand how it's being portrayed on television (depending on the recapper, I guess). The format and the way the show comes across hasn't changed in a long while.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I think I will not take writing style tips from you, but thank you anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Gotta say most reviewers tend to make things sound shittier than they were. One needs look no further than Scott's reviews and re reviews where the ratings all the sudden improve

    ReplyDelete
  83. It was a simple analytical observation in the pugilistic confines of our great form of entertainment. Rejected if you like.

    ReplyDelete
  84. This was around the time I stopped watching as a kid. I only cared about Bret, Shawn, and Undertaker. Also the In Your Houses pretty much killed me off as a fan once I realized it was more than a one-time thing.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Razor was still hugely over, too. He got a huge pop at SummerSlam even though most of the crowd was behind HBK.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Fun fact: Kenny Kendall was Shawn Michaels' best friend in high school. You can spot him in the crowd at the 1997 Royal Rumble sitting next to Pete Lothario during Shawn's match with Sid.

    ReplyDelete
  87. They really should have waited a year to launch something as stupid as an evil wrestling dentist.
That way at least they could have taken some pointers from the great Corbin Bernsen movie "The Dentist" on how to properly portray an evil dentist.

Having Issac torture a jobber and try to yank out his teeth because he caught his wife having sex with the poolboy would had been a far more interesting storyline than what we got.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I thought most of the crowd was behind Razor in that match?

    ReplyDelete
  89. I understand your point, but Bam Bam was pretty much dead in the water at that point so it didn't really matter. Bam Bam's main gimmick was that he was Diesel's friend, it's not really the type of gimmick you can get behind. They did the same thing with Savio/Razor.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yeah, but they could also easily interpret that as the fans just being assholes. I'm not sure if the Philly fans had that rep yet, though.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Razor had the aura of Scarface, and everybody knew about that movie so it was relatable. All you need is Scott Hall in a Faux Cuban accent say: Say hello to my little friend! And boom you got a coke induced heel.

    ReplyDelete
  92. And they stopped giving away a house on each show.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Jarrett's gear for this match is soooooooooooo god awful ugly. And that Skip/Taylor match is a fun squash, Skip looked legit impressive.
