Evening Thread - Tuesday Edition

Tonight, on WWE Network: it's a live Main Event beginning at 8:00 PM ET, followed by a new episode of Monday Night War at 9:00 , focusing on ECW's impact on the WWF/WCW ratings battle; then at 10:00, it's an all-new Countdown, featuring the top ten greatest high flyers.

MLB winds down it's final week of the regular schedule. It's still a tight race in the AL Central as the Tigers hold a one game lead over the Royals. Detroit draws the White Sox at home, while the Royals hit Cleveland.

The fall TV schedule is starting to swing, so if you stumble upon any cool new shows, you can bring them up in this thread.

  1. I'm trying to use this Hola Better Internet thing to get the Fight Pass stuff that's country blocked. Anybody know any good tutorials or what country code I should be using?

Also I hear that there's a way to get the NFL Game Day for free and see all NFL Games in HD for free on their own site with this. That sounds a little TGTBT

From the looks of it, WWF1987 is sticking to his guns of not showing up here anymore. Of course non will be certain until Impact rolls around tommorow.

I think that's only on TV that they cover blood, anything else is shown almost uncensored.

  5. +800 for this week of NFL. 3 out of 4.

  6. Did you listen to me for fantasy football? The players I picked had monstrous games.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I think I've asked this before, but I don't remember if I got a satisfactory answer. Is Torito a little person, or is he a kid, or is he just a short dude?

    ReplyDelete
  8. WWE trying to push the Bunny until the Bunny inevitably jobs to Cena.

    ReplyDelete
  9. nope...i turned on vod one...the black and white is there....this beyond stupid.

  10. I did what you said (other than QB) but I still got murdered my opponent got 20+ points out of every position except defense.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Anyone else watching Agents at 9?

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'm just 3 hours away to my 18th birthday, I can go to jail soon.

    ReplyDelete
  13. The guy who plays El Torito is 4'5 according to wikipedia (I don't know where the cut off is for being a dwarf or just being short), but in Mexico, minis can be any of the 3 things you said.

    ReplyDelete
  14. ...isn't that the wrong thing to be looking forward to?

    ReplyDelete
  15. You could have went to jail a long time ago.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Fucking bawitdaba. Does anyone in the world other than Kevin Dunn ever want to hear that again?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well, he lives in Brazil. The difference between being out of prison and in prison aren't much different.

    ReplyDelete
  18. The black-and-white thing is a rule? I thought it was just their preference.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I wouldn't, I would've been judged as a minor.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Thank you. Not to be, um...heightist, but he seems like he has more agility than most "little people" that you typically see, so I was curious.

  27. Not on my system.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hey man. I'm half-Brazilian, so half of me takes offense to that.

    ReplyDelete
  34. And here comes Big Show to be the babyface in this turn.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Why would they waste Henry's heel turn on this show?

    ReplyDelete
  36. The age of consent in Brazil is 14, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, with a judicial precedent showing that a close-in-age exception that allows those aged 12 and 13 to engage in sexual activity with partners who are 5 years older or less is legal, although not constitutionally formalized.

Has there even been a good WWE game with actual good controls since... Day of Reckoning 2 Gamecube? The controls for WWE '14 blew and SmackDown vs Raw controls sucked, too.

You gotta watch New Legacy Inc play that, they put in so many wrestling mods, it's insane.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Heh, that's awesome, I'll check it out.

    ReplyDelete
  49. ...why are we getting the still photo treatment from Night of Champions on the Newtwork?

    ReplyDelete
  50. In the countdown show (and really who wouldn't want to pay for countdown shows) Joey Styles mentions that he named RVD's splash "The Five Star Frog Splash" as a dig at a dirt sheet writer. Which guy is he talking about? I've never read any one that ever charged money.

    ReplyDelete
  51. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 23, 2014 at 6:22 PM

Because, like WWE giving Hogan a 9.99 cake on the Network only, their logic is whacked.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Still taunting the silly bastards that paid $54.95.

    ReplyDelete
  53. In which countries is that the rule? I'm just thinking about all the red blood on network TV shows like Scandal, Law & Order, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  54. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 23, 2014 at 6:23 PM

Be forewarned, one guy likes Eva Marie a lot.

    The big guy?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yeah, even if they subscribed after the show, they still got to see it on demand.

This company does some really retarded things.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I've been watching WWF 1998 Raws. The roster isn't even close as good in the ring as it is today, but everyone then had tons of motivation and were hungry as hell. These wrestlers, in comparison to then, look like they are going through the motions.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Real answer? No one in the world tries any harder than the bare minimum to keep their job.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Where are these Raws at

    ReplyDelete
  62. Competition does things to people.

    Now? Well......obviously....

  63. Adam "Colorado" CurrySeptember 23, 2014 at 6:25 PM

Wasn't it Caliber that loves Kid Rock?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Some website that puts them up for free.

    ReplyDelete
  65. No, Meekin.

    Caliber loves Blink-182

    ReplyDelete
  66. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 23, 2014 at 6:26 PM

    Which website?

    ReplyDelete
  67. This is why we can't have nice things.

    ReplyDelete
  68. This conversation is depressing as hell

  70. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 23, 2014 at 6:27 PM

Crap, yeah, could have blown his cover.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I don't mind the controls. I thought they were simple. I don't want to remember combinations of buttons. Then again, I mostly just do running attacks and jumping off the ropes.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Billy Gunn is more interesting than anyone in WWE's midcard, and that's saying something.

    ReplyDelete
  73. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 23, 2014 at 6:29 PM

Which is why I don't play FPWR or any old WCW games a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  74. What about Dean Ambrose?

    ReplyDelete
  75. I think the problem isn't the PG rating, it's that most of the card has nothing to do and nothing's written for them. Like, say you're, I dunno, Ceasaro. You know you're just going to be trading wins and losses with most of the roster for at least the next 3 months and you're not going to have any storylines. Also, the wrestlers in 98 didn't have promos written for them, so they had to go out and live and die by their own talents.

    ReplyDelete
  76. That would be just about any of them. Keller and Meltzer, most notably. My guess, however, would be Meltzer as I would imagine he wasn't much of a fan of the ECW garbage brawls or someone like RVD's lack of psychology and transitions in his matches.

    ReplyDelete
  77. The fall TV schedule is starting to swing, so if you stumble upon any cool new shows, you can bring them up in this thread.

It's not new but I'm hella-pissed that I forgot The Good Wife was back on Sunday. Love dat show. frfr

    ReplyDelete
  78. Isn't "bawitdaba" the sound his moobs make when he's walking?

    ReplyDelete
  79. He's upper-midcard.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Fucking CBS football already messed up my recording of Madame Secretary

    ReplyDelete
  81. Yeah, this was happening before the PG rating. In 2005, Stephanie McMahon once told the writers to stop writing stuff for the mid card and just focus on the main event.

    ReplyDelete
  82. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 23, 2014 at 6:32 PM

I would guess Middle East, maybe in Europe as well.

    ReplyDelete
  83. the overrun is bull man

    ReplyDelete
  84. I recorded Scorpion and Gotham last night. Any word on if those shows are good?

    ReplyDelete
  85. It'd be easier to DVR if I only watched Good Wife but Madame Secretary throws everything in disarray .

    ReplyDelete
  86. Adam "Colorado" CurrySeptember 23, 2014 at 6:33 PM

Most European countries are a lot less restrictive about that sort of thing.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Scorpion got negative reviews.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Didn't like Gotham, too much crammed into pilot

    ReplyDelete
  89. I'd be willing to bet there's going to be all of one or two new shows this year that are successful. Most of the time, these teasers for shows gets you intrigued. This year, they're repulsive and have extremely lame premises. Maybe Flash or Scorpion could build cult followings.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I get kind of annoyed because they just have to show 60 minutes in its entirety. Would anyone care if they only showed it til the top of the hour?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Yes. It's a cash cow for CBS

    ReplyDelete
  92. 60 mins is like a franchise for them.

    ReplyDelete
  93. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 23, 2014 at 6:35 PM

Would you think it would have worked better on Netflix due to how they won't have to worry about how a pilot is done?

    ReplyDelete
  94. This was the company that gave Kid Rock a 20 minute set at Wrestlemania 25.

    ReplyDelete
  95. No, since FOX pretty much ordered Gotham straight to series

    ReplyDelete
  96. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 23, 2014 at 6:36 PM

Then they shouldn't have crammed in so much then.

    ReplyDelete
  97. That's what pilots do.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Eh, I think it's the creative force behind it more than anything, they didn't need to establish ALL the players, assuming not everyone will have much to do season 1 and they'll just be fringe people until they're personas are born. (Like Riddler in it)

    ReplyDelete
  99. He's turning?

    ReplyDelete
  100. that's why I hate to watch new shows. Kind of backwards thinking but I don't want to invest in something til I know it's going to make it.

    ReplyDelete
  101. think it's sometime this week.

    ReplyDelete
  102. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 23, 2014 at 6:38 PM

Only because they are trying to grab the networks attention. But if it was a full blown series, they should have spaced it out.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I was actually excited when they were pushing it as a Gordon/Gotham procedural, haven't really been keen on Young Batman and Friends take

    ReplyDelete
  104. someone on the wwe network facebook page said that canada does not show graphic violence between 6am to 9pm. austria is restricted towards violence and uk might be also.

    ReplyDelete
  105. After that loss, Bo Dallas is as dead as the Wyatts.

    ReplyDelete
  106. No, that's what pilots do, since they need to hook people for Week 2. Most pilots, especially comedies, are usually not that great.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Watching Gotham right now. I am happy with it so far. As long as you are not looking for a Batman show and accept that it is kind of an elseworlds tale it is quite good.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Should have known. It is the network of older Americans. Seriously, showing the whole thing just screws up the rest of the night. Then I'm having to math to figure out what time my show comes on

    ReplyDelete
  109. Finally! We get the Kingston-Dallas match that we robbed of (thanks Kane!) on Payback.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Check the facebooks and twitters of the respective shows.

    ReplyDelete
  111. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 23, 2014 at 6:39 PM

They must really have something against IRS's kids.

    ReplyDelete
  112. the previews have not looked promising. I usually watch out of some weird obligation so I'll probably check it out

    ReplyDelete
  113. That said, I don't like how networks are so quick to pull the plug on shows. They don't even give them time to build an audience. I know the premium channels operate on a different model, but I look at a show like "The Wire" that drew low ratings for years before suddenly EVERYBODY was into it. The networks cancelling shows after 3-4 episodes only makes it worse for their next show, because we've been trained not to get attached to anything.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Yes, lots of exposition and unnatural revealing of all the silly quirks characters have...possibly a life changing event, too, that explains why these 4-7 characters are going to be stuck with each other for the next five years.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Daniel Bryan's last appearance on WWE TV was that lame comedy bit with Bo Dallas before whichever throwaway Z-show pre-show he appeared on.

    ReplyDelete
  116. If Flash is half as good as Arrow it will be just fine.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarSeptember 23, 2014 at 6:40 PM

I'm hoping Gotham gets better next week. As it is, there were too many unnecessary nods to the Batman Universe last night, and I feel like it distracted from the overall storytelling.

    ReplyDelete
  118. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 23, 2014 at 6:40 PM

Gonna have to watch that later.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Yes, the same obligation that had me DVR'ing Arsenio every night for the first month or so of his comeback...

    ReplyDelete
  120. They desperately need him.

    ReplyDelete
  121. If a show is tanking and bringing down your schedule or costing you advertising dollars, what are you going to do?

HBO has a totally different business model

    ReplyDelete
  122. don't make me work for it. Just air it at 10. I always end up having to watch the Amazing Race waiting on it and I can't stand that show.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Didn't Dallas already go through Kofi on his first tour of minority jobbers?

    ReplyDelete
  124. You get Roman reigns, and you will like it.

    -Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn.

    ReplyDelete
  125. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 23, 2014 at 6:42 PM

Money in the Bank? The new big 4 PPV?

    ReplyDelete
  126. I was pulling for him too but he.....let's not talk about it. It's too painful.

    ReplyDelete
  127. I enjoyed it quite a bit and accept the Batman references are there to make people feel comfortable.

Oh and Gordon's fiance is pretty.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I don't think 2-3 weeks is even enough time to qualify as tanking.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I have no idea. It all runs together after a while.

And while I'm on the subject, if I'm booking that....after Kane turns
Kofi into a blob of pudding, Bo Dallas should have had the ref start the
match and gotten the quick three count, and then celebrate as if it was
a hard fought victory and told Kofi that, he too, can Bo-lieve.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Teased it. He cut a bitter promo about how fans don't get behind people who try their hardest if they don't win, then Big Show came out to calm him down.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Seinfeld reruns were getting better ratings in the tri-state area lol

I tuned in to a few episodes, I couldn't really understand what he was doing, it appeared he made absolutely no updates to the show from '94 it was so strange.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Daniel Bryan doesn't need to beat Lesnar at WM 31, though. As long as he has a big match at the show, he'll be fine.

    ReplyDelete
  133. So, uh, I got an e-mail from Steve Austin today. Should I start a wrestling review column, troll my audience, freak out, meltdown, and then post the e-mail here as my last ditch attempt to justify my wrestling savvy?

Was that a veiled or thinly veiled jab? Not sure. Anyway, it was pretty damn cool seeing an e-mail from good ol Stone Cold in the inbox today.

    ReplyDelete
  134. He would just pull his old friends out of mothballs and go "you remember that time?" He did this every time I watched.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I don't even think Rumble qualifies as a Big 4 PPV anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I genuinely can't remember what show it was. I think it was MITB, but there was another one between that and Summerslam.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Extant1979 - Ghetto SuperstarSeptember 23, 2014 at 6:45 PM

But some of the references only hardcores would get, and they kind of took me out of the show. Allen and Montoya? Should be closer to Bruce Wayne's age, if not younger. Little shit like that just annoyed me as a comics fan, because it was a throw-in that they didn't need to do.

It's complete nit-picking, I know, and I'm not giving up on the show, but it made it a little hard to get in to the show.

And yes, Gordon's fiancee was easy on the eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Dear Stone Cold, my wife is being a bitch. What should I do?

Stone Cold: Stomp a mudhole into that bitch and walk it dry.

    ReplyDelete
  139. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 23, 2014 at 6:46 PM

For the first part, yes do that, fantastic idea.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Ah well yeah if you are one of those people that wants everything to be consistent with the source material you are going to be unhappy with something like this. I am not saying that is wrong or whatever mind you. I try to look at movies/tv shows based on printed material to be alternate universes for this very reason.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Did he want your account details so he could let his lottery winnings rest in there for a few days and he'd reward you with 10% of them?

    ReplyDelete
  142. Speaking of painful, some of his monologues...

    ReplyDelete
  143. I'm in agreement with the fans here. Fandom is earned through production. He isn't producing so no fandom.

    ReplyDelete
  144. I think people in NY almost had a stroke about losing Seinfeld.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Happy Birthday!

    ReplyDelete
  146. Abeyance: "That is kind of like what Meekin did with Roger Ebert"

    ReplyDelete
  147. I was thinking maybe he'd get picked up by BET or Centric or something, but they may not want to spend as much as it costs to put on a decent late-night show.

    ReplyDelete
  148. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 23, 2014 at 6:49 PM

I'm kind of sad I didn't think of that now.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Nah. I just told him how much I appreciated his account of the details of his day with Ned the Lochness monster (and if you don't listen to his podcast, I may have already lost you). And he seemed to get a kick out of that.

    ReplyDelete
  150. That's what I thought. I think people are looking for excuses to hate it.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Yes! I thought the same thing during that PPV.

    ReplyDelete
  152. He was getting a lot of heel heat for it. It was kind of like Foley's "I gave you Cactus Jack" promo from 98.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Watching Gotham now. I demand to be entertained!

    ReplyDelete
  154. Ambrose's facial expressions were great there.

    ReplyDelete
  155. I do listen to his podcast, but with so many podcasts around now the ones he does without guests get put on the back burner, so I haven't heard that one yet.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Oh man, thanks to Dean Ambrose I'll now call sheep "wool bumblies" from this day forth.

    ReplyDelete
  157. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 23, 2014 at 6:54 PM

I have a feeling that that's going to be the new go to catchphrase for Ambrose. "That was pretty cool."

    ReplyDelete
  158. BET wouldn't be the best place. Monique, John Salley, Michael Collier, etc didn't get much support. it's a graveyard.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Wait until he returns to defend Brie Mode's honor.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Thoughts on Ambrose's finisher being named Dirty Deeds? I'm not really feeling it.

    ReplyDelete
  161. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 23, 2014 at 6:55 PM

I view it more as an inside joke.

    ReplyDelete
  162. He looks like he doesn't bathe.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Of the few internet ads I see, it's always about that horrible 'Black-ish' crap. TV is so terrible today.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Yeah, he got on quite the role in last Thursday's episode. But like you said, he was by himself for that one. However, it's a 100 times better than the Nash/uberfacts podcast from a week ago.

    ReplyDelete
  165. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 23, 2014 at 6:56 PM

He and Harper should have a wife beater vs wife beater match. Loser loses the wife beater.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Larry Fishburne has the worst one-liners. How hard-up is he for work? One would think he'd have enough clout to get better roles.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Most of these finisher names suck ass. Until Vince does a 180 on his philosophy (which isn't out of the question) or dies (which IS out of the question), these names are going to be bad puns and gimmick related phrases.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Mania
    SummerSlam
    Rumble
    Money in the Bank

    ReplyDelete
  169. It's better than "skull crushing finale"

    ReplyDelete
  170. The Steiner's should be in charge of naming moves. They had kick-ass names for everything.

    ReplyDelete
  171. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©September 23, 2014 at 6:59 PM

Too bad Goldust has this already, but that finisher could have been called the final cut.

    ReplyDelete
  172. I'll inform you of my opiniom in an hour. It's Batman so I can't imagine hating it.

    ReplyDelete
  173. It is a good catalyst for a turn though there isn't really anyone to feud with
