Macho Man Blu-Ray?

http://www.amazon.com/Randy-Savage-Story-Blu-ray-Macho/dp/B00MQVSEZE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1409847638&sr=8-1&keywords=macho+man+blu+ray

Holy crap, what the hell is this?  It popped up on my amazon recommendations and I hadn't heard a thing about it.

Yeah, there's not really much in the way of details on it, but most are taking it as a sign that a Hall of Fame induction might finally be coming.  Obviously there's still a treasure trove of Savage matches that were totally ignored by the first set, so they should be able to fill it up pretty easily.

Comments

  1. So who's the last significant HoF inductee left after Savage? Sting? Taker?

  2. Finally, Macho Man's matches in HD!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Ooh, I haven't even considered that. Say what you will about him today, the man deserves it in spades.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Too bad he never wrestled a match in front of HD cameras. It'll be at best up converts of 480p content.

  5. Matches include:

    Macho vs Steph, 2/3 falls

Macho vs Shawn Michaels (never before aired, takes place inside Macho's mind)

Savage vs Hulk, loser gets their finisher's credibility destroyed at the next Clash

    Savage vs Spiderman

Savage vs John Cena (rap battle)

  6. They have guys like HHH, Rocky, Nash and Jericho who are retired or approaching it that can easily headline too.

There's always Owen (if possible), Luger, Outlaws, Bulldog, Pillman, Zbyzsko, Goldberg, and a ton of potential Attitude Era midcarders and divas.

    ReplyDelete
  7. A lot of non-WWE guys like Lou Thesz, Ray Stevens, Gene Kiniski, etc. For WWE guys, Owen, Rick Rude, Demolition, Steiners, Lex Luger come to mind after Sting/Taker.

  8. Fingers crossed we get one of his house show matches against Bret for the belt from '94 or whatever. Those were supposed to be legendary.

  9. Demoliton as a a duel entry for Masked Superstar/Repo Man would be fitting. RM might be on the bubble, but MS should already be in there. Demos too for that matter.

  10. No one ever talks about the WHY..

Mach nailed Steph in retaliation, since Vince nailed Liz. Makes the story so much deeper..

  11. 480i content in fact.

You're not going to get much improvement over the DVD in terms up added picture detail, but you've also got better compression and more bitrate to play with than you DVD. Some of those WWE DVDs are way over stuffed and have painfully low-bitrates that result in a lot of macroblocking during fast motion scenes.

  13. Won't happen until he's dead. He doesn't even want guys thanking him in their speeches.

Jericho, RVD, D-Generation X, Vader, Heyman will all be in the HOF in the next 10 years.

  15. Has the Rock been inducted yet? Or has he just inducted other folks?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Not for nothing, but there was a surprisingly good Superstar match from July 1990 v Jim Brunzell that I'd put it at a legit *** 1/2, which might not sound like much but it was competitive (actually Brunzell got most of the offense) and Savage got his lip busted.

  17. Plus Undertaker, Kane, Big Show, Eric Bischoff (so long as he isn't with any competitors), and more. Yeah, I don't think there will ever be a "last" significant inductee.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Gotch, Hackenschmidt, Thesz...

Or do you mean people who will sell tickets?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Attitude Era Volume 2 is up for pre order and it's less than $7. I think this is an error since it says list price is $39.99. I just pre ordered. Hope they honor it.

  20. They've still got tons of people to induct.

  21. yeah, but it's DVD, not blu-ray :/

  24. Love to see a Savage-Bad News street fight from the 89 house shows (either before or after he turned).

    ReplyDelete
  25. Could see Sid in the mix as well. Now that'd be an entertaining speech.

  26. There are two listings, both say dvd. One says 3 discs, one 2 discs. So I'm thinking the 2 disc listing is blu ray. I'm not sure but I'm willing to take the risk for $7.

    ReplyDelete
  27. But at least you'll Hogan's wrinked commentary visage in epic detail!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah, really any of the 4 hour WMs from the Attitude era in particular. All those high contrast signs in the crowd, all the red hues (which tend not to compress as well as other colors), camera flashes, and lighting -- PLUS the action play hell with MPEG2 encoders.

Some of the Savage era shows could use an upgrade too though -- those two-sided anthology discs aren't even filled to capacity on each side in most cases, with average bitrates around 5000kbps.

  29. I found his 2nd face run (1992 to 1994) kind of strange, as his offense just didn't seem effective. Maybe it was because his selling was good, but his punches and clotheslines looked weak, and he just seemed to have trouble gaining an advantage. (And yes, this is partly in the period where he had the "get beaten up for 10 minutes, then hit the slam/elbow drop for the win)

  30. I dunno, you can't even search for it right now.

  31. I'm gonna be Mick Foley on the plugs for a few days for the new forum. http://rspwfaq.boards.net/ Sign Up! Read the Caliber meltdown in all it's glory! Post some shit about Savage!

  32. His timing was WAY off, and at times he started looking like Tony Garea with talent, work wise.

    ReplyDelete
  33. The Fabulous Freebirds. How the hell are they not in yet?

    ReplyDelete
  34. In the one I saw (Met Center, Bloomington MN) they did a whip into a table in the corner. The look on Brown's face soaking in the pop for reversing the whip and sending Savage into the table was priceless.
