Question for the blog

Listening to a podcast on the St. Valentine's Day Massacre.

Got me wondering: how many WWF/WWE PPVs have names that were only used once? This Tuesday In Texas springs to mind, as does The Wrestling Classic.

Including the IYH titles since some like Unforgiven got used more than once, with and without the IYH prefix.

Thought it might pass some time for the blog otters.

Dean Andrews

Ground Zero, Badd Blood, Invasion, Canadian Stampede, D-Generation X, It's Time, Mindgames...there was a period in the late 90s where they messing around with all sorts of wacky names.

Comments

  1. It's gotta be said: when Undertaker debuted as the American Badass biker, that shit was over like Rover. In popularity he was a cunt hair away from Rock and Austin.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Didn't he take up yoga to alleviate the pain is his f'd up back? I remember he started doing more MMA based moves after he came back in 03 when he beat Big Show with a triangle choke in probably their best match up to that point.

    ReplyDelete
  3. "blog otters"

    Fuck your question.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Are we separating Badd Blood from the 2003 and 2004 Bad Blood because of the double d?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Overall though, fuck him.

    ReplyDelete
  6. They should bring back "Rock Bottom."

    ReplyDelete
  7. I must mention that if you want to see classic smark rage, look up SK's rant on said Fully Loaded vs. Kurt. People at the FAN Forums are reposting highlights from WONs from 2002, and the hate for UT then is off the charts.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I seem to remember that they tinkered with the name of the Survivor Series in the late 90's too (Deadly Games and Gang Rulz). Can't remember if they did that with any of the other major PPVs though.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Breakdown, Rock Bottom, Beware of Dog, The Big Event (not really a PPV, but along the same lines). Some of the UK PPVs might have had one-time names (Insurrection)

    ReplyDelete
  10. It's trivial to find the answer to this on the Network, as all shows are broken down by PPV name.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Ah yeah, Summerslam '97 - Hart and Soul. Anyone remember any others?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Has there ever been a less creative, lamer name for anything than "this Tuesday in Texas"? I mean, put a little effort into it. I remember when that was happening and my friends and I (middle schoolers at the time) were even wondering if that was the name or just a slogan.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Eh. It's alliterative and you remember it 24 years later. Simple is better sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  14. He seemingly got in better shape too. I remember the match that HHH pulled out of him at WM17 - he looked like he should be playing in a slow pitch softball league at that time with his gut. His best move at the time was riding a motorcycle to the ring

    ReplyDelete
  15. The cunt hair got a lot longer after a couple months of that shit.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Booger Red was unwatchable. He was channel-changing bad for a couple years.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I liked it. Especially how Vince would say it, "This TUESDAY....IN TEXAS.....". Felt like it meant something. Plus two big ass matches at the time.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Survivor Series; Gang Rulz. Sounds like a lackluster show. I am sure nothing historical happened there.

It's ok, Meekin didn't ask it.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Actual PPV shortened the name to "Tuesday in Texas". As such I am surprised Vince Russo didn't try to re-use it...you know why...

    ReplyDelete
  21. TJ: So last night there was some crossover on TV or something. I'd think Scott would be on top of this one...any opinions?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Sounded like a weekly news program.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yeah they went for the Clash of the Champions type subtitling, especially for In Your Houses.

    ReplyDelete
  24. WM15: the Ragin' Climax (sup, Russo?)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Was he really putting young talent over? I know he did that
inexplicable job to Koslov, but my main memory of Taker in the last few years,
outside of the Mania matches (which he obviously won up until this year), was
him squashing Punk in 5 minutes on that one PPV.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Booger Red's promos...my god...Michael McGillicutty was Ric Flair compared to Taker during that time period.

    ReplyDelete
  27. It was pretty decent until the stupid 15-minute fight at the end where they obviously ran out of ideas.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Or as joked about in RSPW: Badd Blood...could this mean a secret alliance between Ricky Steamboat and Marc Mero? TUNE INTO RAW TO FIND OUT!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Eh, casual fans of both shows probably wanted to see that happen eventually...

    ReplyDelete
  30. Name any name that comes out of anyone who gets signed by WWE nowadays and goes through NXT.

    ReplyDelete
  31. It is trivial. Yes.

    That's why I asked. Trivia.

Also we don't get the network in the UK yet.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Was Summerslam 98 officially taglined Highway To Hell?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hey, if Randall can bring back "porch monkeys", I can bring back "blog otters"!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I loved it, personally.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Are we even still getting it? I’d heard a date of October 12th-ish,
but that was months ago and I’ve heard nothing anywhere since.

    ReplyDelete
  36. You're asking exactly the kind of HARD-HITTING and TOUGH questions that I was hoping this question would provoke.

    ReplyDelete
  37. It's hard to judge Undertaker's workrate in the late 90's because his character demanded the style he worked and arguably made it more effective. If he was busting out planchas and MMA shit from the get-go, I don't think people would have bought it.

I also never thought he was as horrible as Scott made him out to be in the early 2000's, but he did become markedly better later on. When he had the matches with Edge, I think he was at his peak. Was also in incredible shape despite already being in his 40's by then.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Didn't need to be 15-minutes. Family Guy writers love the tired gag of letting the joke go on way longer than it needs to. After two or three of those, it gets really old.

    ReplyDelete
  39. One Night Only, Breakdown, Breaking Point are some others.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Also, what about "The Bash" from 09? WWE lists that separately from all the other GABs on the Network.

    ReplyDelete
  41. The Ghost Of Meekin's MoobsSeptember 29, 2014 at 8:31 AM

You can't bring something back that hasn't fucking gone away

    ReplyDelete
  42. Pretty ure if you watch again it wasn't 15 minutes

    ReplyDelete
  43. They used beware of dog twice.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'm expecting it this Wednesday, the first.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yeah Skinner vs. Bret Hart was a classic .

    ReplyDelete
  46. Clever trivia question that. “How many Beware of Dog PPV’s were there?”

    ReplyDelete
  47. They really need to come up with some new PPV names that fit the current product..
    WWE: Lowered Expectations
    WWE: Baited & Switched
    WWE: Whaddya Expect For 9.99?
    WWE: Rehash
    WWE: Cena Wins

    ReplyDelete
  48. Well yeah. Smarks hate almost everything that happens on mainstream wrestling. Then the old smarks die off and new ones wax philosophical about the enjoyment they got out of whatever the previous generation hated. Circle of life and such

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'm pretty certain that if the IYH concept till existed, there would've already been one titled The Time is Now, akin to It's Time, D-Generation X, Rock Bottom.

    ReplyDelete
  50. They should have continued down that route:
    This Monday In Michigan
    This Wednesday In Wyoming
    This Thursday in Tennessee
    This Friday In Florida
    This Saturday In South Carolina
    This Sunday In South Dakota

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yeah, it wasn't anywhere near 15 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  52. or even 'Never Surrender' with the main event being an I Quit match

    ReplyDelete
  53. I really like "WWE: Cena Wins"

    ReplyDelete
  54. I skipped out on wrestling for most of 2002-2009. I got pulled back in by that amazing Punk-Hardy feud on Smackdown in 2009. When Undertaker returned and squashed the superhot Punk, it felt like nothing had changed since the Invasion. There are few wrestlers I like less than the Undertaker.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Pretty sure Savage/Roberts and Taker/Hogan would be the aforementioned "big ass matches," bud.

    ReplyDelete
  56. It's a 7 hour clip show.

    ReplyDelete
  57. "Dean Andrews" was the name that popped out of the NXT Random Name Generator that Meekin typed into.

    ReplyDelete
  58. You are having a really good morning.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I'm making up for my heartfelt letter to Santino yesterday that apparently was weird. I guess it was now that I'm reading that sentence out loud.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Well, yeah. Didn't say it was a hard question.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I would say the turning point was at the end of 2002 beginning of 2003 where he got in the best shape I have seeing him in his career and you can see a different Taker starting with his matches against Brock Lesnar. In 2003 he had a classic with Kurt Angle at SmackDown and a pretty good match with Cena at a PPV. He also had some good matches that year with Rey Mysterio and even the Big Show match he had at No Way Out and A-Train at SummerSlam where pretty whatchable. That's when you can see Taker turning things around.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Like Scott said, it was the NWO 2006 match with Angle that showcased his new style.

Angle was the perfect opponent for that as well because all Angle was by 06 was big move, big move then go into finisher mode for the last 10 minutes.

Taker was showing hints of the style during the Lesnar series and the Orton series but with Angle it was fully interjected as his primary style of wrestling.

He also slimmed down. I would like to throw out some allegations of HGH cuz his head got HUGE during 06-10, while the rest of his body streamlined though.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I could've sworn the Badd Blood event name was used three times: Oct 1997 IYH (Hell in a Cell debut) and the two RAW PPVs in 2003 and 2004, respectively

    ReplyDelete
  64. It made me sick that people bad mouthed WWE for not making a bigger deal of Santino's retirement. Now he's coming back. If he waits 3 months he can get a tag title reign with Rusev after they feed RUSEV to Cena and then turn him into a dancing heel.

HE'S NOT WEARING SHOES MAAAAAGLLE!!! Haha!

    ReplyDelete
  65. CruelConnectionNumber2September 29, 2014 at 9:15 AM

No. Just the theme song and some lines used by Vince during the build.

    ReplyDelete
  66. CruelConnectionNumber2September 29, 2014 at 9:16 AM

    Capital Punishment. Fatal 4 Way.

    ReplyDelete
  67. You just don't get it.

    ReplyDelete
  68. CruelConnectionNumber2September 29, 2014 at 9:20 AM

"Gang Rulz" was never used in any announcer's lines or promos... it showed up on a picture for the event in the WWF Magazine and possibly the video cover. Deadly Game was used everywhere (theme music, the name of the tournament, etc.). "Gang Rulz" is so 90's!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Clash of the Champions: the Search for Curly's Gold.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Technically it was, but for the two Raw PPVs, they dropped the second "d" in "Bad." No telling why they did this, or why they misspelled it to begin with.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Fatal 4 way got reused for the last NXT Special

    ReplyDelete
  72. Well since they weren't in full bury Marc Mero mode yet...I don't know...

    ReplyDelete
  73. Yeah I can't wait to see his PPV wins over Punk, Lesnar, and others!

    ReplyDelete
  74. So what will the plan be with Taker? Is he done? The WWE hasn't given him a sendoff, which you KNOW they will do for the company man of all company men. But his biggest draw, the streak, is over and done with. What does he do now? Come back for one last win? Put someone else over?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Some more factors: First, the pace of matches slowing down. With all wrestlers forced to work a slower style, Undertaker's strengths returned to the forefront.

Also, I think Undertaker's return to respectability has to do a lot with Benoit and Guerrero dying and Angle leaving the company. With a less than two-year span, WWE lost THREE of its best four workers, all of whom were miles ahead of the Undertaker in-ring. Without them making him look bad, he shines.

    ReplyDelete
  76. "Play time's over, sit down and shut up. Later on tonight, there's gonna
be a match for the tag team titles between the Acolytes and X-Pac &
Kane, whatever whatever, it's not important. The fact of the matter is,
this Sunday at SummerSlam the winner of that match will come face to
face with this. And to make sure that my man was right, this week I put
him to the test. I had Paul Bearer call out to California - San Fernando
Valley to some associates of ours at the Local 81 - Paul said we're
gonna need two bikes for a ride in the desert. The guy said 'Brother
Paul, now we know that the Dead Man can handle it, but I don't know
about the Big Show. It's August, it's 120 degrees in the middle of Death
Valley.' He says 'the only things that survive in the desert are the
cold-blooded...the snakes and the lizards.' Paul said 'that's all right,
and in one of those bikes that you're setting up for us, I want you the
Big Show to only have enough gas to get to the middle of the desert and
    not get back.'

So we're on our way - we get to the middle of Death Valley - 120
degrees, the Big Show's bike runs out of gas. And I pull up next to him
and I ask him this question: 'It's 120 degrees, how are you gonna
survive?' He looks me straight in the eyes, without hesitation, he says
'I'm gonna wait 'til you go to sleep, I'm gonna stab you in the back,
I'm gonna cut your flesh off, make a coat out of it, and I'm gonna eat
YOUR flesh until I find food.' I said 'Good answer big man, but I don't
sleep,' and I drove off and left him. I waited on the outskirts of the
desert. Two days later, he walks out with a snake necktie and lizard
boots, carryin' his Harley-Davidson on his shoulder. The point of the
story is this. What used to be known as SummerSlam will now be known as
Armageddon, and whoever shows up...will be hurt."

    ReplyDelete
  77. Elimination Chamber '11 and Extreme Rules '12 respectively?

    ReplyDelete
  78. Eh, it's not a great name but if you're trying to break your entire fanbase's Sunday PPV routine you could do a lot worse than naming the PPV after the weird day it's going to happen. If it had been named WrestleStuff or whatever how many of us would even remember that they had once run a Tuesday PPV?

    ReplyDelete
  79. The 2002 heel run had fun moments(the three way with Rock/Angle, the hardcore title run, the ladder match with Hardy, the street fight with Flair), but otherwise, yuck.

  80. The Love-Matic Grampa!September 29, 2014 at 9:44 AM

It's funny, I went from being mildly intrigued by Undertaker (1990-1991) not really caring about him all that much (1992-1995) to thinking he was pretty decent (1996-1998) to being more than a little bored and irritated by his gimmick and bad matches (1999-2001) to wishing he would retire and never return (2002-2006) and ended up with a begrudging respect for the guy and his longevity (2007-Now). And honestly, I was even a little sad to see the Streak end.

Twenty-five years is a long time.

    ReplyDelete
  81. No, I get it. I just think it's old and not funny.

    ReplyDelete
  82. That's obviously an exaggeration on my part....it only FELT like it was 15 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Even Sheldon Cooper laughs at your failure to grasp sarcasm.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I agree. The first few times, it's funny, but after a while, it's just lazy, and annoying (and ironically, unlike the actual bit, it doesn't get funny again). Jim Rome is very VERY guilty of this on his radio show, and it makes the show unbearable after a while.

    ReplyDelete
  85. CruelConnectionNumber2September 29, 2014 at 9:49 AM

That was a sub-title of a TV show.

    ReplyDelete
  86. What a pretentious mark.

I think they should bring back subtitles for big matches: The War To Settle The Score, The Brawl To End It All, The Match Beyond, Icon vs. Icon, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Tremendously insane. I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  92. WTF? Is this really an Undertaker promo?

    ReplyDelete
  93. Making him look bad? Angle was one guy that could make Taker look like a million bucks every time they faced each other.

    ReplyDelete
  94. As long as I never have to see Undertaker vs. Austin again, I'm good. Those matches flat out sucked, every time.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Jim Rome makes Jim Rome's show unbearable.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I don't know who that is.

    ReplyDelete
  97. The Love-Matic Grampa!September 29, 2014 at 10:02 AM

Was sorely tempted, but passed. Maybe I'll catch it On Demand, but it's doubtful. Family Guy just doesn't work for me anymore and I'm barely sticking with The Simpsons these days.

On the other hand, South Park's premiere was excellent. Might have to give them another shot.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Summerslam '98 was kinda awesome, but yeah, that'd probably be the lone exception.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I started watching in early '98 and loved Taker then, and looking back I still like him that year. But I couldn't stand him in '99, and it wasn't just because he turned heel because I quickly took to smarkdom and usually liked the heels more anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Cold Day in Hell (May 97 IYH) is not only by far their best match but it's a great match in general

    ReplyDelete
  101. This. That match was very good, though it was a tad overbooked with the Hart Foundation run-ins.

    ReplyDelete
  102. "Afterwards, in the dressing room, Pat Patterson confided in me that my match with Skinner was one of the greatest of all time and I had a great ass."

    ReplyDelete
  103. I was just about to edit my post and mention that one, too. I wouldn't say it's "by far" better than their Summerslam match, or better at all, but yes, Taker and Austin did have two good matches.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I'm not just talking about the matches they had with Undertaker.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Gang Rulz was on the box art too. Royal Rumble 98 had "PAIN!", WM14 was "DX Raided", KOTR 98 "Off with their heads", Rumble 99 "No Chance in Hell", Summerslam 99 was "An out of BODY experience". Some were mentioned a lot and somewhat official subnames, others were just sayings having to do with the event they put on the box.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Even still, he didn't look good just because they were gone. It's not like there's a set amount of in-ring awesomeness that can happen and Taker was just getting some for himself finally because great workers left/died. Taker's WrestleMania matches would still be awesome even if other awesome matches were on the card.

    ReplyDelete
  107. "He looks just like Little Richarrrrrrrrrrrrrd!!!"

    ReplyDelete
  108. Wasn't this a promo that Jericho interrupted and called boring? That's the story from his second book, after which he says Shawn tells him, "Um, maybe don't call out the biggest star in the company* for being boring, especially when it actually was boring and everyone knows it."

*Which obviously wasn't true, but that's how Jericho wrote it, and we all know the actual reverence they have for Taker anyway

    ReplyDelete
  109. Cena vs Lesnar IV

The One Where Cena Wins the Feud

    ReplyDelete
  110. And your follow-up question, how many of them were really freaking good?

Off the top of my head I'd nominate One Night Only and Canadian Stampede as great PPVs from top to bottom whilst Mindgames includes one the best WWE matches of all time.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Have you watched the last two months? They did.

    ReplyDelete
  112. You're right. He didn't "look good" just because of that. But with the company losing its most speed-intensive elite workers in company history and with a slower overall pace, his "finisher-lie around-kickout-another finisher-repeat" style (which Michaels and HHH were also adept at) seems more acceptable.

    ReplyDelete
  113. But that's not how Taker was booked. He was booked like a late 80s Andre. Andre would crush upper midcarders (Jake the Snake and Hacksaw) but would put over main eventers (Hogan obviously but also a Warrior on his way up and Savage when he was champ). With few exceptions (Mankind and Khali), younger/newer guys needed to be booked pretty strongly before Taker would put them over.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Maybe the Sting thing at WrestleMania and that's it.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I'll have to check out Cold Day In Hell.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I only say by far because their SummerSlam match didn't age well to me when I watched it 2-3 years ago. Then again it's been around 10 years since I've seen CDiH...

    ReplyDelete
  117. The St. Valentine's Day Massacre had the epic McMahon/Austin blowoff. That match might not win any stars, but it tells a great story and is a ton of fun for what it is.

  118. davidbonzaisaldanamontgomerySeptember 29, 2014 at 10:25 AM

Turning point for me was the WM21 match with Orton, which I thought was tremendous.

    ReplyDelete
  119. SHH! Do you WANT a left on your chin?

    ReplyDelete
  120. Yep. Video of it is pretty easy to find. This promo is legendary for being one of the worst promos ever cut by one of the biggest stars in the history of the business.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I guess by comparison, some might see it that way and not see the "epic" style matches as quite as great if they're on the same card of a Benoit/Guerrero masterpiece. But it's such a markedly different style that I don't think they'd be in any way diminished.

    ReplyDelete
  122. I watched them both recently (ie, since the Network came out) and they're both in the same boat to me, about ***1/2ish. But I know what you mean about matches not aging well. That one in particular has, but some of my favorite late 90's matches are kinda whatever now.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Yep. In the 90s, for whateverr reason, it was ccool to doubble up random letters in words.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Count me as someone who either didn't care about Taker or actively hated his presence for the majority of his career. As a kid I didn't have any fondness for old school zombie Taker--- his matches were boring, his promos were boring, his feuds always sucked. I didn't hate him or anything, I just never looked forward to anything he did.

His stuff did start getting much better in the pre-Attitude (DIesel match at Mania 12, Mankind feud, HBK matches) and early Attitude Era (AUstin at Summerslam 98) but then Taker went completely off a cliff for me for YEARS. The Ministry sucked, the neverending Kane feud sucked, Biker Taker was just unwatchable--- but then the new Zombie Taker after Mania 20 was somehow even worse. Then he just became some Undead MMA douchebag who had bad matches.

Mania 23 definitely was something of a turning point, but even then I think the main reason I was enjoying Undertaker more was because we were seeing less of him. The long vacations, the segue into becoming a once a year special attraction--- that suited Taker really well.

But honestly, other than the two HHH years (neither of those matches I was particularly a fan of, to be honest) I pretty much was rooting for the streak to end every year since batista, because I was totally happy with Taker being done.

    So basically... good job, Brock.

  131. Jim Rome sucks. He's so unbearable. I haven't listened in a long time, but I just find him to be incredibly obnoxious.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Yup. What's odd about it is that Jericho was scheduled to interrupt the promo, but Taker still got annoyed by it because Jericho called it boring, which was his "Raw is Jericho" savior character. What else was he supposed to say?

    Here's the exact exchange:

CJ: "Welcome to RAW is JERICHO!
And this is exactly what I was talking about last week. You two
giant slugs have been out here for what, three, four minutes? And
already you've forced these poor people to drift off into their own

Well STOP changing the channel because your hero has ARRIVED! Chris
Jericho has come to save the WWF...finally, there's a man who's

prominence and make some money for this beleagured promotion - and I'm
here to say that 'RAW is SNORE' is now dead and buried and long live
'RAW is JERICHO!' And now that the Y2J problem is here, this company,
from the front office employees to all the idiots in the dressing room,
to the two biggest idiots of all, will never, e-e-e-ever be the same,
    again!"

    TAKER: "Hey boy, I
don't know who you are or who you think you are, but judging from that
peach fuzz you're trying to grow on your chin, I can tell I got more
shower time than you've got ring time, and if you ever, and I mean ever,
decide to interrupt me again, it will be your last time...and that is a
    promise."

  133. Florida era Kevin Sullivan thinks that promo was insane.

    ReplyDelete
  134. That's not how these things work. You are the one with the claim that smarks do this. The burden of proof is on the one making the claim, not the one denying it.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Such hostility, all because I disliked an episode of Family Guy. I bet your man tits are amazing and lactating at a great rate.

    ReplyDelete
  136. We were taking different paths to the same idea, but yeah.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Or Smarch Madness or something

  138. I liked that show a lot. It was one that I watched repeatedly, not because it had blowaway classics, but it just had a great pace and energy to it. Holly vs Snow for the Hardcore Title was novel at the time, Owen/JJ vs Mark/D'lo was solid tag action, Kane/Chyna vs Xpac/HHH was probably the best Chyna match and a really good match in general, another good Mankind-Rock brawl, silly ending aside, and then the rather entertaining main event. I think largely it was a good show (to me) because the cast of characters at the time was possibly the greatest ever.

  139. Keep in mind it was also pre-American Badass Undertaker. It is literally the first appearance of the BikerTaker persona. It came out of absolutely nowhere. A week before he was all "darkness, darkness, rest in piece" and suddenly he's talking about getting motorcycles from the Hell's Angels.

    ReplyDelete
  140. I thought Ground Zero was a great name.

    ReplyDelete
  141. I liked how that match was booked - Vince has a big ego which makes him believe he can go toe to toe with a wrestler, but aside from a low blow Austin just beat the shit out of him...and then somewhere along the line they started booking Vince as a threat in the ring.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Probably can't use that one anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  143. I think it was during an angle where Undertaker broke into Vince's house or something, and Vince shows up in his car, and Mideon is outside, and Vince just beats the shit out of Mideon with his fists, with no trickery. I was like, "Uhhh? Mideon sucks and all but he is like a 280-pound actual wrestler."

Because it was the 90's. And as 90's hip hop taught us, misspelling titles is kool.

  149. I used to roll my eyes at the 'Undertaker is beat up' stuff because he works once a year....but after seeing out of the ring pictures they guy looks like hell. It takes a lot of hair dye tanning and make up to make him look like the Undertaker these days.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Lousy Smarch weather!

    ReplyDelete
  151. 'Breaking Point' was a really good name that was only used once. 'December To Dismember', not so much.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Didn't know you didn't like it. Just pointing out that your responses are consistently similar, if its okay for you to generalize use hyperbole or exaggerate why is it not okay for anyone else?

    ReplyDelete
  153. Well since you can go everywhere and see them complain, there's nothing to really prove on my part you just gotta read these moments or the dead forums or anywhere where we is discussed. Thanks for playing mate!

    ReplyDelete
  154. Or you can read the multiple times the same people that complain also talk about the fun stuff they enjoyed about it.....because as fans we have the right to cheer what we like, and complain about what we don't......there's an ebb and flow. There isn't some hive mind running around with only one angered negative opinion on pro wrestling. Get over yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  155. I exaggerated the length of a segment of an episode of Family Guy. I apologize for hurting your feelings about this.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Looks like you're the one that needs to get over me champ. With your constant commenting on my posts acting passive agressive and projecting the rage you feel onto me, if I didn't know better Id think you're obsessed.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Here is the question: I just looked at the Austin heel turn at Z-Seven and I know wrestling sometime is booked on a postcard - but does anyone think the Austin/McMahon handshake was that surreal pseudo shoot moment of Vince owing WCW (even though Shane owned it in storyline terms) and the two joined forces to say the Monday Night War is over. Most likely Austin vs. McMahon saved the WWF/E. I seriously think if the WCW deal hadn't taken place the week before Mania, Austin would not have turned heel. I really think they did that moment as a cerebral image of the Monday Night Wars and the attitude era ending. I think the first part was planned, the end of attitude wasn't planned - but officially in hindsight Austin McMahon ended the attitude era

  158. Yeah the Punk thing was inexcusable, because Punk was thisclose in being a made main event guy 2 years before the pipebomb.

    ReplyDelete
  159. I point right to vs. Angle 2006 at No Way Out

    ReplyDelete
  160. No Way Out 2003 vs The Big Show was a glimpse of things to come. He showed up lean and very agile. It's one of Big Show's better matches at around *** in my book. Undertaker wins with a triangle choke.

    ReplyDelete
  161. I know the Invasion PPV only did a great buyrate because of the initial WWF vs WCW buzz, but at the same time I'm surprised WWE hasn't used that name since because you never know, it could have been promoted from a b-PPV to maybe a top 5 PPV.

  162. I said stop it, Molester of Boys.

  163. I SAID "Stop it", Molester of Boys.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Would you fucking STOP IT ALREADY, Molester of Boys?

    ReplyDelete
  165. That would be a great name to use for the PPV coming out of Wrestlemania. You're setting the table for the next 12 months.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Oh look it's the virgin for life squad! Missed your constant trolling stud. Hope for much more of your awesome wit in the future!

    ReplyDelete
  167. I doubt one had anything to do with the other.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Well, at least you did stop. No, not with the Molesting of Boys... you're too addicted to that.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Look at that wit you have on display! Momma must be proud of you baby doll. Now why don't you put on your big boy panties go outside (don't worry you aren't really a vampire no matter how much you believe in twilight) and talk to a girl.
