September Classics: Edge vs. Eddie Guerrero - Smackdown 9/26/02

I really wanted to find Bret Hart vs. Jean-Pierre LaFitte from IYH 3, but I could not find a copy of it on the Youtubes, etc. Then I wanted to find Hart vs. Austin from an African event called Sun City Showdown in '96, no go there either. HBK vs. Mankind from IYH: Mind Games is a given, but it's been done. So I've gone with this nugget from the Smackdown Six days of Smackdown, the No DQ match between Edge and Eddie Guerrero, which some people insist on remembering as a ladder match.

Comments

  1. MUSIC ALERT: So Rob Zombie made it through Summerslam, but not here, apparently.

  2. This clip pre-dates the Network, which would explain why it has been edited.

  3. This was a GREAT match between Edge and the late Eddie Guerrero, probably (keyword probably) is the best match in Smackdown history. I believe this show also had a great triple threat match with Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, and Chris Benoit.

  4. All credit where credit is due to Austin/Benoit, but this is my favorite Smackdown match of all time.

  5. Probably because of the giant fucking ladder in the preview shot.

  6. The match that caused Edge to e-mail Scott.

  7. What's the story behind that?

  8. Remind me not to post videos of non-Punjabi Prison matches with a Punjabi prison in the shot.

  9. Didn't he "underrate" it according to Edge?

  10. Scott can fill in the details, but his main criticism was the first part of the match didn't really go anywhere and Edge said it did. I agree with Scott on this one

  11. Is there a YouTube playlist with these full length awesome quality matches? That would be sweet

  12. Shame this was the match that fucked up Edge's neck.

  13. There's also a conspicuously silent portion where there used to be discussion about Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle. The YT stuff is way more edited than their usual content.

  14. On the Network I've seen them put in Rob Zombie for when Edge was using his in house "You think you know me" music. Makes no damn sense.

  15. Scott gave it ****1/2. I don't see how that would be construed as overcritical for a television match.

My memory of this time: The pay per view was as not good as the television was good.

  16. How is that trolling? He took a picture with 3 NXT signings. Is it because they're throwing up the KLIQ sign?

  17. One of the hashtags is definitely trolling the internet.

Regardless, HHH signed those guys so he does have a vested interest.

  18. I'm especially interested in what they do with Steen.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Me too. Apparently, his promo work helped get him hired so hopefully they'll let him go nuts.

Is it possible that Kenta/Devitt/Steen are a new faction?

  20. In terms of really silly moves that I really miss, eddies little senton flip from the apron to the inside of the ring is at the top of the list.

  21. He's not trolling. That's fucking awesome lol

    ReplyDelete
  22. Let the internet explode? Why is that trolling? Maybe it's just because it features 3 "internet" darlings clumped together.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Awesome match... also to note just how SHREDDED both these guys were. It's hard to believe anyone was "well" prior to 2005 or so.

  24. It would be really cool if these three guys were given an honest start with Triple H as their supporter.

  25. For sure. He was on a roll as a singles competitor at the time
