September Classics: Sting vs. Barry Windham - Clash of the Champions III

The Dusty finish aside, this match was rolling along quite nicely. The booking of Windham, at this point, was decidedly confusing and Windham wound up back in the WWF as The Widowmaker, albeit very briefly.

I loved how they showed the belts in the promos for the Clash of the Champions.

  2. Ya know Sting was a pretty good worker with a pretty good look and a pretty decent flat top, but he always felt like an also ran to me. He was never going to make German girls swoon like Bret. He was never going to be the best interview. He was never going to show a lot of range. He was never going to look like an ass kicker. He was there to be a good looking face who got stabbed in the back by all his friends. He made a good living doing it, but he'll never be a living legend to me. He's nowhere near the Mt. Rushmore of wrestling. Just a very good player for a very long time. Kinda dull and boring. Like a relationship that's lasted 5+ years. Sure it's still fun, but where's the sizzle? Where's the spice? There are zero surprises. I know you and I know all about you.

  3. Those East Germans will never swoon for Ceba the way they swooned for Bret.
