Black and white on the Network

Is it just me, or is the black and white video whenever there's blood on the screen brutally annoying? I find it worse than the ads.

Just seems so stupid. We all know what blood looks like. We're paying $10 a month for this. I understand censoring nudity (not that I condone it), but blood? C'mon.

I dunno. That's all I've got.

Blood's only censored on the live stream, because it's marketed as an actual TV channel in Canada and needs to conform to TV-PG.  There's no B&W in the archives.

  1. This is incorrect. The "Monday Night War" episodes are all B&W when blood shows up.

  2. MYSPACE!! I hope to god this was written before 2005. :)

  3. Watching the Piper documentary on the live stream I noticed that, and was starting to get a bit concerned...but then I watched UT/'Flair from Mania X8 and Flair/Foley from Summerslam '06 and the blood was all in color. The video package from Mania with UT beating up David Flair was in b&w, but I think they did that in the actual video package anyway for effect.

  4. The MNW eps are all like that with blood since they're a new show being made. They said they wouldn't go back and whitewash anything old, and mostly haven't...though I don't discount the possibility of Vince waking up one day, freaking out, and making some poor intern work 80 hrs scrubbing away every drop of blood and Benoit match.

  5. Slight, Semi related TJ:

I watched everything on a black & white TV in 1991 and 1992, so when Papa Shango made black goo come out of Warrior's forehead, I freaked out as I thought it was blood.

  6. I sent this email in while watching the Austin show last night, and it was B&W. Same goes with the Edge documentary.

  7. I think they see the belts as a way of getting a guy over rather than the Guy adding value to the belt. Basically if a guy is over they don't put the belt on him, they'll put it on someone they think needs it to get over. Otherwise I reckon fandango would be a multi time IC champ by now.

Of course they haven't yet realised that they've devalued their belts to meaningless props which don't help anyone get over but what can you do?

  8. Hey, I met my wife on myspace in 2006! It was still cool then. But the line about WWE claiming they don't market to children must put it around that time, or even earlier.

  9. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a few days or so after it airs for the first time, isn't there an "Uncensored" version of it available as well, or something to that effect? I haven't actually checked it out, but I assume that'd be the version to restore the color etc.

  10. I thought they were heading in a better direction recently when they had a coule of tournaments this year to be number 1 contender to the US or IC title. But no...
Maybe the Ceasaro/Ziggler 2 out of 3 match will be the start of something better?
Maybe have Caesaro win 2 falls to 0, and then have him declare that all his future title shots will have to be that way. Have him win a few in that fashion to make it look like 'his' speciality match.

  11. There were for the first few, but I don't think the last few have had uncensored versions for whatever reason. And really, black-and-white on a show like this not only doesn't bother me but kinda adds to it a bit. As long as the original versions in the PPV/Raw/Nitro/etc. archives aren't in black and white or blurred, who gives a shit?

  12. to me a match that is kind of similar to Hart/Lafitte match is Michaels vs. Masters from Unforgiven 2005 - I was absolutely convinced it would turn Masters into a legitimate star because he looked great in it.

  13. Waylon Mercy came along too soon. That character would've been perfect in the Attitude Era but didn't quite fit the cartoon era of 95.

  14. The Bret-Lafitte match wound up on Bret's Dungeon collection (yes, I know this was written before it was released).
