TV Stations Leery About TNA?

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, TV stations are leery about TNA as Spike dropped the product when TNA's ratings were above the station's average. The word on why Spike dropped TNA is that they did not have confidence in their leadership to grow the ratings as the numbers were on the decline.

WWE Top Live Event Merchandise Sellers

Here are the top 10 merchandise sellers at WWE live events, which the company feels better reflects on who to push over internet sellers as the live event purchases are made by more general fans and that more sales are made at the events than on the internet.

1. John Cena (By a wide margin)
2. Roman Reigns
3. The Usos
4. Wyatt Family
5. Brock Lesnar
6. Sting
7. Sheamus
8. Daniel Bryan
9. Dean Ambrose
10. Hulk Hogan

Comments

  1. This Russo thing is incredible. Dixie might seriously have ruined TNA's future strictly due to her crush.

And I'm surprised about the Usos being so high, I'm happy for them, as they basically disappeared for a good 3 years from 2010 to 2013. Happy that they didn't give up and kept working hard.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Some real surprises on that merch list: Usos #3 and Sting #6. Wonder if Sting gets his Mania match now?

    ReplyDelete
  3. I can see kids buying their stuff as the Usos are awesome at playing to the crowds.
They really are a good team too.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Also, I'm one of the rare ones that was happy that they won the feud over Harper/Rowan. Long title reigns are always a good thing. I'm glad they didn't just switch the tag titles for the sake of switching them. No 50/50 booking there, Usos are clearly a top level team.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Yeah, I can see why Hogan is up there, but Sting really surprises me.

    ReplyDelete
  6. "The Syfy Network has announced that they will be debuting a new show next year, which is an adaptation of the film '12 Monkeys.' It will be called '13 Monkeys: One More Monkey.'"

    ReplyDelete
  7. I'm guessing the Usos have taken the Rey Mysterio crowd.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Reigns be selling dat merch.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I know apparel is a big business for the live events, but I'm surprised WWE hasn't done more to get their shirts available at mass market retailers. Every men's clothing section nowadays has a fairly big display of pop culture t-shirts from a wide array of properties so why isn't something nostalgic or popular like Hulk, Austin, Rock, nWo, or Cena available at Walmart? Seems like you could sell a ton as impulse purchases.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I once bought a Rock shirt at Wal-Mart, but it was back in 2000. Not sure if they still have WWE stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Wrestling isn't cool like in 1998, when Wal-Mart and Target were selling nWo and Austin 3:16 shirts.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Nostalgia is though... I don't think current shirts would sell, but like he said, why not take a shot with old school stuff?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Were there Shane Douglas shirts too? *rimshot #HadToDoIt

    ReplyDelete
  14. Poor Shane. The butt of every joke. Not saying he doesn't deserve it. Just pointing out the obvious, I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I can see that. Maybe the old school stuff would sell. The new stuff? Not a chance, unless you put it in the boys/kids section and it's super bright or something.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Agreed. Hogan, Savage, Warrior, NWO, Austin, etc... those could do well.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Isn't Kmart a carrier of WWE merch?

    ReplyDelete
  18. I haven't seen anyone wearing Reigns merch. This must have caught on super quick. I haven't watched the show in two weeks, so maybe that's it.

    ReplyDelete
  19. For kids and toys mostly, not that I go to my local Kmart often since it looks like the early 90's inside.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Smackdown: It could go away completely, and the product wouldn't be hurt. But, gotta keep that TV deal happy, lest they fall into a deeper hole.
TNA: Surprise? No, no surprise. None whatsoever.
Sellers: Sure, I'll play along. And I'll use my own personal experience. At Wrestlemania, here's roughly what I saw in the merch booth:

About a dozen Cena items, one or two items from Bryan (I got his Che shirt), Taker, HHH, DX (WTF?), and various WWE.WM30 items (My other buys were the History of Wrestlemania shirt, WM 30 hat, and WM 30/Hall of Fame program).

I'd be willing to bet real money the same ratio applies to any random house show. Want Cena stuff? We have it by the truckload. Want anyone else? Good luck, my friend.

-Has Cena earned it? Absolutely, he does have a history of selling merch for YEARS now. His #1 spot was not given, and he's not going to get any flak from me. Where I WILL aim my flak is at WWE, for seeming to perpetuate this Cena dominance by keeping the playing field so tilted. I've argued it for Punk, for Bryan, and I see multiple names on this list that could possibly challenge Cena now or in the near future, IF they had more than the tiniest fraction of support compared to Cena.

It'll be quite interesting to see WWE's reaction/response the day or week Cena's sales start coming back to the pack.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Sting is #6 and Hogan is #10? Sting hasn't wrestled for a real company in 13 years!

    This...
    1) Shows you how popular the character of Sting really is.
    and
    2) Shows you how NOT OVER most of the roster is when two over-the-hill stars of the past are out-selling them.

    ReplyDelete
  22. They sold knock off shirts. The only way to get the real stuff was going to a live event or a Raw.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Wait, the guy who has a new t-shirt every week sells a lot of merch? Get the fuck outta town.

    ReplyDelete
  24. My "WWF" branded/tagged DX boxers from Wal-Mart circa 1998 beg to differ.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Target and Wal-Mart still carry the dolls (VKM joke) and playsets, usually in a fair-sized section (2-4 foot section, last I remember. That may have changed, of course.)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Sting also just signed a merchandise deal so I expect they are doing a decent roll out of his stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  27. One could just as easily say "wait, they give their top seller a new t-shirt every week?"

    ReplyDelete
  28. And heeeerrreee we go. I was waiting for that kind of comment.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Of course. It's just like kbone said below....if Cena has towels, wristbands, and 25 damn t-shirts, he's obviously going to sell the most. Punk had like 2 shirts. Bryan had like 2 shirts. Clearly, Cena will sell the most. And I'm not saying he wouldn't if he only had 2 shirts. I'm just saying he's DEFINITELY going to be #1 considering the amount of crap he has.

And like you're saying, they're pushing Sting merch. No doubt. They push who they want to push.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I was just at Target the other day....the toys have their own 4 foot section. I don't know if this is everywhere, but it was at my local store.

    ReplyDelete
  31. WWE is good at capitalizing on merch sales and if someone was selling a lot of stuff despite not having a ton of things available, the would make more items available.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'd think that would be standard, especially with Mattel's power behind that area of WWE merch.

See? Mattel isn't all bad for WWE.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I would agree with that and concede the point.

They are great with understanding merch, I'll give them that.

    ReplyDelete
  34. They might have liscensed out boxers and shit like that to stores but the actual shirts wrestlers wore to the ring were only available through WWE.

You might find an Austin shirt, but never one he wore to the ring.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Weren't they slow on catching up with the Bryan demand last fall? Other than that, I do agree that they usually are on the ball.

    ReplyDelete
  36. K-Marts are scary, man. The ones I've been in the last 10 years have all been dirty and disorganized, and smell funny.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Whoever designs the shirts need to be fired. 90% of them are awful. Look a Rollins, they are so boring and ugly only a super fan would buy them. Not a good look when the indie guys like Barbershop Window blow away your designs.

    ReplyDelete
  38. According to WWE Shop's website, Cena (#1 on the list) has 80 items for sale. Hogan (#10 on the list) has 72.

    ReplyDelete
  39. "AUSTIN 3:16" was a shirt at Wal-Mart. He wore an "AUSTIN 3:16" shirt to the ring. I'll give you that they had licensed out merch that they never wore as well, but the super popular shirts were in stores. Trust me, I was 18 at the time and obsessed.

    ReplyDelete
  40. John Cena is the greatest thing to ever happen to professional wrestling.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Has someone hacked your account, or did you lose a bet?

    ReplyDelete
  42. How does Vince Russo keep on getting chances in wrestling? That baboon is resilient!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Just looked up Rollins' T-shirt... 'Seth for Business'? Fucking hell

    ReplyDelete
  44. Online sales are different than live event sales. Live event sales generate a good amount more than the internet. Here are the internet top 10 sellers:
    1. Cena (again, by a wide margin)
    2. Ambrose
    3. Reigns
    4. Lesnar.
    5. Austin
    6. AJ
    7. Bryan
    8. Brie
    9. Hogan
    10. Ultimate Warrior

    ReplyDelete
  45. The actual merch looks like shit. I cant dispute that

    ReplyDelete
  46. Your average merch stand at a live event carries... 50 items at most? And most of those are cheap trinkets, NOT shirts/hats.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Wow. That makes me think of Breaking Bad more than WWE.

    ReplyDelete
  48. It's mind blowing. I mean, there's Vince McMahon Hubris where you have the balls to launch a professional football league, but are smart enough not to bankrupt yourself. Then there's Dixie Hubris, where you are so freaking hard-headed that you hire the guy who drove to WCW into the ditch and never did shit for your company...TWICE!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'll do it, as I'm currently on the WWEShop website, under the Products tab.

    Cena: 78
Hogan: 69 (BLEACH! IT DOES NOTHING!)
Bryan: 57 (Impressive number, even though some of it is bad merch. His #6 ranking is actually not a good sign, IMO. Then again, he'll probably shoot back up when he does return. If he doesn't... uh-oh.)
Warrior: 41 (Not in the Top 10, mind you. But I'd be willing to bet he is in the Top 20)
    Mysterio: 33 (Clearance soon?)
    Wyatts: 30 (Not bad.)
    Stone Cold: 27
    Brock: 26
JIM ROSS: 25 (What. The. Fuck. Bet none of those leave whatever warehouse they're stored in.)

I went look at the JR selection, it's his BBQ stuff. Sauces, beef jerky, and the old cookbook.

    ReplyDelete
  50. No chance I'm wearing anything that has 'Authentic WWE Wear' stitched onto it

    ReplyDelete
  51. When I was a kid and I heard about something selling "on the black market" I really thought they meant ghetto-y stores like the K-Mart and Dollar General.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yeah, about Bryan, i'd say it's a VERY good sign, as he's been off tv for nearly 6 months. Just still being in the top 10 is promising.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I was going to say it's because of the game, but that hasn't come out yet. Considering they went after Goldberg after his DVDs sold well, etc. I think Sting can definitely get some screen time pretty soon.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I wouldn't wear any wrestling clothing now, but when I was about 12 I wanted, but could never find the Roddy Piper shirt with the "black-cat" fireworks logo on it

    ReplyDelete
  55. did you instead settle for painting an entire half of your body black?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Not necessarily. Mark Henry had a shit ton of different merch when he debuted and didn't sell shit.

Cena is popular because he connects with people, not just because WWE says so. By that logic, WWE would never fail with someone they push, and in reality they do all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I always skip the halftime show anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I'd say Henry's failure may have soured WWE on doing anything like that ever again.

Also, they did have to try to recoup a rather large contract at the time.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I understand the move, but it's pretty damn ballsy and arrogant.

    ReplyDelete
  60. HALFTIME HEAT, BABY!!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. By far the biggest news here is a series based on 12 Monkeys.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Typically, my annual Super Bowl chili dip shit takes 30 minutes or so, so I'm going to try to time it with halftime.

    Yep.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Talk about weird, but I had a dream about fucking Jeff Jarrett, 1995 Jeff not TNA Jeff, and he was totally in character but he actually became a famous musician and was ranting about how he was so big that he would only perform in two cities: New York and Vegas.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Dude, you gotta stay away from the booze. When it's fucking with your dreams that badly, it can only get worse.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Ambrose's "DA" anarchy-ish logo is kinda clever

    ReplyDelete
  66. You were fucking Jeff Jarrett?!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I think there is a place for Russo in wrestling. A very small booking role would be a fine spot for him. No way should he be a head booker though.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'll watch anything with that many monkeys in it

    ReplyDelete
  69. "I think there is a place for Russo in wrestling"

Stunt double for Owen Hart or Sting in 1999?

    ReplyDelete
  70. That was a figure four leg lock dude, you weren't fucking

    ReplyDelete
  71. See when I first read this I thought you were saying you had a dream you were having sex with Jeff Jarrett. That first line had me a little concerned.

    ReplyDelete
  72. It's promising to see names like Reigns, Usos, Wyatts, Bryan, and Ambrose in there. It shows that some younger and relatively newer guys are actually getting over with the fans. Weird seeing Sting and Hogan in the top 10, but there are a lot of older fans out there. Cena is of course at #1 yet people still want him to turn heel. Yeah, that's not happening.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Put a filter on his stupidity and he can at least give everyone on the roster something meaningful to do.

    ReplyDelete
  74. If you're pun is less clever than "I'd rather be in Va-Cyna", you're fucked.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Just looked at the Roman Reigns stuff online. It's pretty awful, so I'm actually impressed that it is selling so well. Not that they've put a lot of effort into the Dean Ambrose or Seth Rollins merchandise either.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Yeah, I think WWE does a better job at creating new stars than they're given credit for. Plus I have no doubt that Punk would be way up there too, had he not, ya know, quit.

    ReplyDelete
  77. They should design the shirts like they did in the 80's and 90's. Simple designs instead of this heavy metal Affliction style.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Guys, Reigns isn't over and the crowd isn't behind him. They need to start jobbing him out and release him. It's patently obvious. lol

    ReplyDelete
  79. I think WWE should use some combination of live crowd reactions, ratings analysis, network/ppv buys, merchandise sales, and LOGIC to decide on who to push. But whether they're selling merchandise or not, I think the company will push who they want to.

    ReplyDelete
  80. TJ: WWE should totally sell that neon door on Ebay. I'm sure there are lots of guy who would but in in heartbeat, for their game room or "Man Cave". The perfect combination of "geeky/awesome".

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSkRCor_AbY

    ReplyDelete
  81. That was a motherfucking good edit.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Eh, it's alright. Hasn't Abyss been using the anarchy logo for a couple of years now?

    ReplyDelete
  83. I can rest easy now.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Cesaro was using as a graphic on his entrance for like a week this year.

    ReplyDelete
  85. She should tell them to F off. She's already huge, and probably not at the level that she has to pay to play. Let that Arianny Grande (sp?) do that.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I'd been doing that for years - before I ever even heard of Roddy Piper.

I thought it would make me look thinner

    ReplyDelete
  87. Last wrestling show I went to, the smallest size of anything was a Medium, and it was like the biggest Medium there's ever been. When will slim guys get a break? I want crappy garish wrestling shirts too! This also applies to band t-shirts.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Cause he's totally out of line there?

    ReplyDelete
  89. never paid any attention to him

    ReplyDelete
  90. If you're not obese, you have no business being a Rasslin' fan! that's the rule.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Brian Bayless, why do you keep posting Dave Meltzer's inaccurate and biased information about TNA? They clearly have a TV deal lined up and it might be bigger than Spike

    ReplyDelete
  92. Now you're learning.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Yes. If you can find one person on this blog that have ever said WWE should job Reigns out and release him I'll buy you a Reigns t-shirt.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I heard they have a deal lined up with the FOX network. But they may not. Don't quote me on any of this.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I wish WWE would call up Zayn and Charlotte.

    ReplyDelete
  96. You haven't read many of the live threads. The hate for Reigns, and the over reactions about how unover he is are pretty amusing.

    ReplyDelete
  97. The jobbing part has happened on this blog. I think the Summerslam thread was loaded with Reigns being horrible and not over posts.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Charlotte has been exposed by less experienced workers since the Nattie match. She could use another 6 months of tuning. That's just my opinion though.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Divas matches on the main roster are usually less than 6-7 minutes. She'd be fine there.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I bet nobody has said anything about releasing him. I believe the hate for him is real.

    ReplyDelete
  101. It's not their fault that you're a pencil neck geek.. Get yourself some IcoPro, you humanoid!!

    ReplyDelete
  102. IT'S STILL HAM FOR ME, DAMN IT!

    ReplyDelete
  103. He is pretty horrible. What does that have to do with making up a straw man about him being released?

    ReplyDelete
  104. He was using an exageration to make fun of them. Because that's probably where they are going next. A lot of people here so badly want him to fail.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Anybody find it odd that Orton isn't in the Top 10 of live event sales OR online sales?

    ReplyDelete
  106. More surprised about the Rock and Taker

    ReplyDelete
  107. And that's why his trolling effort sucked. It went too far.

    ReplyDelete
  108. 8 of the 10 are faces, and another one is Brock f*cking Lesnar. So being a heel does make a dent in merch sales, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I do like his logo though.. looks like some type of comic book insignia.

    ReplyDelete
  110. The white Punk shirt was super popular during his run. Probably ran #2 to Cena if I had to guess.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I kind of enjoyed it really. they grossly exaggerate on stuff they hate (Reigns isn't getting Austin like pops, but he's still clearly over and popular), so it's fun to go all the way the other way to mock them. (I'm sure you're shocked that I approve of this method. SHOCKED, I tell ya) :)

    ReplyDelete
  112. Yeah. Maybe they're not selling Taker stuff at live events right now? But you would definitely think the Rock would have been on that list.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I’m a lean muscle machine! But I’m still dwarfed by medium
size clothes. How did everyone else get so big? L
    No offense everyone else.

    ReplyDelete
  114. More like a carrier of an STD if you touch the shelves. Boo-yeah!

    ReplyDelete
  115. It's sad that we don't expect much from anyone nowdays.

    ReplyDelete
  116. He's okay. That's it.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Lots of booze last night?

    ReplyDelete
  118. Also, he sucks and he's boring, so there's that.

But let's not get into this old hat again.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Dave has never been wrong. He's spoken to Vince McMahon!

    ReplyDelete
  120. Jobber123. I'm an L.

    ReplyDelete
  121. "method" = just admitted planned posts to be a contrarian. SHOCKED, I tell ya! SHOCKED!

    ReplyDelete
  122. Meh, I get he's been there for 12 years straight, but I find him ok. (of course, not watching every single hour of every single show helps keep wrestlers fresh for me)

    ReplyDelete
  123. Stranger in the AlpsOctober 10, 2014 at 8:35 AM

12 Monkeys as a TV series? I might give it a shot. The movie is one of my favorites from the 90's. I also used to get a boner for Madeleine Stowe back in the day.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Skinny shaming! The worst kind of shaming. :'(

    ReplyDelete
  125. Unless Marcel the monkey is there, count me out.

    ReplyDelete
  126. have a damn triple cheeseburger. Heck, have 3! You'll thank me!

    ReplyDelete
  127. Gross. Madeline Stowe? Eck.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Does anyone know if those merchandise sales numbers take into account the T-Shirts that the Hebners are selling in the back of their van after each show?

    ReplyDelete
  129. I haven't watched at all in 2 weeks, and it's still in my head that he's boring as a pet rock.

    ReplyDelete
  130. I give my word that every one of my opinions are legit. it's just a co-in-ki-dink that most of my opinions differ from the general opinion here. I don't make up opinions just to be a contrarian.

    ReplyDelete
  131. She wasn't bad at all back then. Nothing that made a profound impact on my boner history but nothing to sneeze at.

    ReplyDelete
  132. You can buy a small online, friend.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Outside of the nWo, Austin 3:16 and Best In The World, I can’t
think of too many wrestling t-shirts that weren’t pretty bad.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Stranger in the AlpsOctober 10, 2014 at 8:41 AM

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Anybody have the list of online sellers? I'm curious now.

    ReplyDelete
  136. ughhhhhhhhhhh I HATE THE ORTON IS BORING ARGUMENT. I HATE IT. HATE HATAE HATAE HATE HATAE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATEA

    ReplyDelete
  137. 1. Cena (again, by a wide margin)
    2. Ambrose

    6. AJ
    7. Bryan
    8. Brie
    9. Hogan
    10. Ultimate Warrior

    ReplyDelete
  138. I think the argument is STUPID STUPID STUPID!!

    ReplyDelete
  139. Not your opinions that are deemed contrarian. It's your constant posts mocking people and putting us in this collective "hivemind" that is contrarian.

I'm guessing no one is upset or offended of your opinion on Orton or HHH. It's more your opinion on posters and their opinions that is the annoyance.

This is just from my own observation. I could be wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  140. The Love-Matic Grampa!October 10, 2014 at 8:49 AM

Randy Orton needs a WCW in the worst way. Losing that place where you can go and recharge your batteries for a few years and still make decent money is going to be disastrous for guys like him.

And no Rock and Undertaker? Or HBK/HHH/DX? Interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  141. He's boring to me. He's been boring to me. It's just the way I feel. Sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  142. I feel a lot of people do the same about me, I mostly support WWE in general, but I get lots of mocking posts that I'm the "WWF1987/Elvy" of the WWE, and I drink their kool-aid and I unconditionally defend them. Not true either.

But I'm just not really offended by the mocking post, as I do it too. It's a fair fight. :)

    ReplyDelete
  143. Who in the fuck is buying uso shirts? STOP.

    ReplyDelete
  144. He could totally go to TN.... nevermind!

    ReplyDelete
  145. What does the Roman Reigns shirt look like? Is it any good?

    ReplyDelete
  146. So you can! I just went on WWE Euroshop and they're selling a British Bulldog t-shirt, which I found a bit surprising.

    ReplyDelete
  147. thank god for that comma. Otherwise, I would have called the authorities.

    ReplyDelete
  148. I'm sorry, I can't really reconcile this list with reality; for one thing, the Usos at number three is too outlandish to take seriously. It honestly feels like #2-10 are scattershot and in no particular order.

Before someone labels me a Reigns-hater, know that I really want to like Reigns. If all three Shield members reach the top, then it gives me hope that they can bring up new talent and succeed as well. The issue with Reigns is three-fold. One, and least important, his size. He has a unique look, but he's not monster-sized and looks less imposing than you'd want from a guy with that character. This can be overcome through good booking.

The other two problems are more immediate; his ring work is mediocre right now, and is demonstrably worse than his contemporaries in the mid-upper card. This is compounded by a decided lack of microphone skills. He's just not at a level that justifies the rocket push we'll have shoved down our throats next year. I wish they'd slow down with him and let him develop his game before giving him the brass ring.

  150. So because it differs from your own personal tastes, you consider this list null and void? Is that how I read that?

    ReplyDelete
  151. Reigns biggest problem is the creative team. They are not helping him out at all. You have a guy with a great look and natural charisma and give him shitty dialogue that makes him seem as uncool as possible.

    ReplyDelete
  152. For his skill level, Reigns is pretty good. He hasn't wrestled on the independents like Rollins and Ambrose did. His only wrestling has been with the WWE and their developmental program.

    ReplyDelete
  153. That's kind of an interesting point. Sometimes I wonder if merchandise sales aren't driven as much by popularity as by who has the coolest gear (or largest selection).

Yeah, hasn't changed much since I was a kid.

    ReplyDelete
  155. I bought the programme at a Smackdown taping in July, it was
literally nearly a year out of date. No Paige, Rusev, or any of the new guys,
lots of Punk, and almost no content but a billion pictures (of people who weren’t
there). Darn waste of fifteen bucks that was.

Yes, a John Cena clothing line for kids....the horror.

    ReplyDelete
  157. He was only in developmental for a year or two max as well, right? The guy is very green. And he's better than Ryback was when he got the super push.

    ReplyDelete
  158. *standing ovation*

    ReplyDelete
  159. Meltzer was taking about how at the same point in their careers, Reigns is better in the ring than Cena.
Reigns continues to get better and that is all that matters at this point.

I still have a house show program somewhere, it wasn't as bad, but you could tell it was oldish. Mainly because it had a sticker that said 2010, but when you took it off, the cover said 2009 under it.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Yeah, I never understood those, even in the pre internet days. They just seem so worthless.

  162. "Yep Mode" ABeyAnce1©October 10, 2014 at 9:06 AM

You can tell that's an internet perspective, because they have Ambrose, Bryan, and AJ in there.

    ReplyDelete
  163. I don't think they need Russo for that. That really should just be any booker’s job. And some of his
“stuff to do” was pretty bad. Chavo selling Amway? Hacksaw as the jani- Why am
I listing examples? It was all bad. All of it. Every inch of it.

Well, glad to see everything is still fine in TNA.

    ReplyDelete
  165. That's a red flag right there!

    ReplyDelete
  166. I still think Russo should be Rusev's long lost brother.

    RUSEV SWERVE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  167. HA!! did Apu do that, after changing the expiration dates on the milk cartons?

    ReplyDelete
  168. No, it seems like the list doesn't match the reality of who's over on TV.

    ReplyDelete
  169. The lost Uso brother.

    Holy shit! It's Vince Uso!

    ReplyDelete
  170. Damn you. Upstaged me!

  172. I love Charlotte, but she's still got a lot to learn, especially as a dominant heel. She's too reliant on rest holds and her matches have that very choreographed feel. Yeah, she'd be fine in the short diva matches, but she can be better.

    ReplyDelete
  173. She needs the tuning for sure, but I am amazed at how much she improves weekly on NXT.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Most of his merchandise looks like shit...

    ReplyDelete
  175. ...which brings us back to the "Is NXT something they want to push or is it a place where people can make mistakes and ideas can be tweaked?" question.

    ReplyDelete
  176. The "Hey, people sure seem to like this...we have to change it so they don't" thing that the WWE has got going for itself is getting really tiresome.

And watching classic Smackdown episodes on the Network is really making that crystal clear. EVERYBODY WAS OVER! EVERYBODY HAD SOMETHING THAT THE FANS ENJOYED ABOUT THEM (even if they hated them.)

    ReplyDelete
  177. You could say that about anyone. The point is, he drew well throughout his career, and while his highest-drawing feuds were obviously against bigger stars like Rocky, he drew well against a host of lesser stars as well. This isn't really a matter of opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Fair enough - could I get some examples? Not saying they don't exist, I'm legit curious.

    ReplyDelete
  179. That doesn't explain why his kicks & jumps look horrid.

Probably because he has to soften them up.

  181. LOL, I came back to this thread to see if I was going to read the "Hulk Hogan is an artist" thing. Kind of disappointed.
