Eric Bischoff's Status with TNA
There is an ongoing contract issue between Bischoff and TNA, with false reports of the two parties suing each other. Neither side can discuss the matter until their deal expires, which is reportedly to be very soon. Bischoff was on Steve Austin's podcast recently where he stated he could not dicuss the matter.

RAW Rating
This week's episode drew 3.7 million viewers with a 1.2 in the 18-49 demographic, down from last week's 3.75 and 1.23 respectively. It's the second lowest viewership of the year, beating only the 5/26 episode. The household number was not yet available at the time of this post.
WWE Network in Canada Update
Rogers has issued a letter to the CRTC addressing issues raised with their application last month. The company stated that they received nearly three hundred interveners responding to the application and that only four opposed it. Other highlights:
-The Network as distributed in Canada will consist of the same content available on the US version.
-The Network will not be exclusive to Rogers and that other companies can negotiate to carry it on their systems.
-WWE decided to carry the Network as a cable channel rather than an over-the-top service in Canada, but that Rogers confirmed that they are working to also provide a service with the same functionality and convenience of the US over-the-top service.

From the Smackdown taping last night, the match between Dolph Ziggler and Cesaro for the Intercontinental Championship will now be a 2 out of 3 Falls match.

Change to Hell in a Cell
From the Smackdown taping last night, the match between Dolph Ziggler and Cesaro for the Intercontinental Championship will now be a 2 out of 3 Falls match.
I had no idea Eric Bischoff was still with TNA!
ReplyDelete2 out of 3 falls match? so now BOTH guys can lose, one of them twice, lulz!!
ReplyDelete2/3 falls? Fuck yeah
ReplyDeleteBarely related thoughts on each:
ReplyDeleteBischoff: I re-listened to him on Stone Cold's podcast the other day. Even though kayfabe is totally dead and the WWE has no competition, part of me gets a kick that they pimp Austin's podcast on Raw when he sometimes interviews people from TNA or other promotions.
Ratings: I don't even know what context to put them in or to what extent they matter, because we still think of them as we did in simpler times, when Raw getting a better rating than Nitro was a tangible blow in a very real battle.
Canada: "Canada is the Scottie Pippen of countries." -Jerrod Carmichael (If you like standup, find that dude's recent HBO special. He's like Eddie Murphy crossed with Hannibal Buress. I love him.)
Ziggler/Cesaro: are 2/3 falls matches between good wrestlers ever not awesome?
Here's something interesting about each match this Sunday-
ReplyDeleteCena/Orton - seen it a million times, already been a PPV match this year
Sheamus/Miz - Saw it on Raw couple weeks ago
Rusev/Big Show - Saw it on Raw couple weeks ago
Brie/Nikki - Saw it on Raw a couple weeks ago
Cesaro/Ziggler - Literally seen it 3 times in the past couple weeks
Goldust&Stardust/USOS - Seen it on Raw a couple weeks ago
AJ/Paige - Seen it on last couple PPVs, possibly Raw too (I forget)
There is literally ONE sorta fresh match booked for HIAC, and that's Ambrose/Rollins. Wow.
Having said all that, I'm looking forward to Ziggler/Cesaro and them main
The Dust brothers lost to the Usos while you were typing this.
ReplyDeleteAnd we've seen Ambrose/Rollins several times over the last few months, too: Summerslam, the following Raw, and the brawls at Battleground and NoC, but they've (mostly) done such a phenomenal job with this feud that yeah, I can't wait for this match.
ReplyDeleteThis card is so thin that they probably needed the extra time to fill. If they get 25 minutes to do this match right, it could be a MOTYC.
ReplyDeleteOne of my WM31 dream matches would be a IC/US unification between Cesaro and Sheamus in 2/3 falls.
He might not have, either.
ReplyDeleteI'm in favor of just about anything that gives Cesaro PPV time.
ReplyDeleteThe Cena Express's ratings will always be consistent - slightly lower week after week!
ReplyDeleteHere's the dichotomy between Ambrose/Rollins (and maybe Rusev/Big Show, to a far lesser extent) than everything else: Ambrose and Rollins have a reason to be feuding and kicking each others' ass, and it translates to wanting more as a fan. Big Show and Rusev has been good enough for what it is, so it's not as worn out and could be a decent deal given enough focus. Everything else has been done ad nauseum without proper build (or in some cases, just gone on too damn long) and is as stale as day old bread.
ReplyDeleteHas there ever been a 2 out of 3 falls match with one guy getting two straight falls? It would take out the element of drama with the third fall, but it would be surprising and make future matches in that vein (rare as they are) more unpredictable.
ReplyDeleteDolph Ziggler versus Cesaro in a 2 out of 3 falls match! Yes! Yes! Yes!
ReplyDeleteZiggler beats Cesaro clean not a week before the showdown. Fuck....
TJ: Watched Starrcade 98 last night on the network. Once again, why the fuck would WCW book the way it did?
ReplyDeleteJerry Flynn and Prince Iaukea vs Norman Smiley?
WTF WCW?
I would have booked
Steiner vs Luger and Nash vs Goldberg vs Hogan possibly.
Of course, Because WCW.
I think there was an MVP/Benoit 2/3 falls match for the US title that MVP won in 2 straight.
ReplyDeleteCesaro and Ziggler going 2 out of 3 falls is good (as mentioned below, two good wrestlers getting enough time to go 2/3 usually means a terrific match) and a match Id want to see.
ReplyDeleteNow if only WWE could apply the same train of thought to the rest of the product. 2.8 THEN NOW FOREVER
As a wise, falsetto voiced singer once said, "It don't matter if it's black and white (as long as it's not the archived content)
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, in the moment when a guy wins the title, it still kinda matters. At least three or four different times with the IC title at least in the last year or so, I've felt like they'd decided to make it actually matter again. But then there's no follow-up on it.
ReplyDeleteYep.
ReplyDeleteTwo guys fighting just because they're wrestlers and that's what they do? That's perfectly fine! But there's a limiting factor to it. Like, I want to see Dolph/Cesaro again because the match will be awesome, or at least it should be. But other than it being a good match, why should we care? It's not built up enough as a hardscrabble rasslin' feud that them fighting each other over and over for no reason is good enough.
"Vince has a habit of watching a movie and then suddenly coming up a new and original character that he immediately trademarks as his own original creation"
ReplyDeleteSemi-TJ, but yet another example of Ambrose taking lame material and making it work this past Monday. Cena tells him "You're not Batman. You're the Joker." And Ambrose responds with "Why so serious?" LAME LAME GODDAMMIT LAME. Then he sits down with this oddly disgruntled look and throws popcorn off his face, and I'm laughing my ass off and he's totally saved the segment.
Caesaro beat Ziggler on Raw though...
ReplyDeleteSo a 2-3 fals match vaguely works into that!
and even that initially logic hardly makes any sense.
ReplyDeletebecause who cares WHY fans get behind a certain worker? one could argue that's like saying "well, the fans only got behind The Rock because of his catchphrases. let's forbid him to use any of them for six months to see if he is REALLY that over!"
(a good example would be the Undertaker: take away his gimmick and he might not be over. but the point is that his has this gimmick and made it work perfectly)
The wrestling will be good to great in some cases, but I'm a big believer that part of what makes a match great is the backstory behind it. Look at the greats, like Ric Flair or Bret Hart, or Ricky Steamboat back in the day: they could breathe in a wrestling ring and hit ** to ***, but give them a meaty angle that builds drama and passion up for a fight, and they could hit the full monty. Ziggler/Cesaro will probably be an excellent match, but the build is lacking so the match will lack that last special ingredient. If I want to watch the art of wrestling without the storylines, there are better mediums for it (like New Japan).
ReplyDeleteI voted for kodos
ReplyDeleteIsn't it because Ziggler pinned caesaro when his feet was in the ropes a month ago, and Caesaro wants a rematch for the title?
ReplyDeleteIt does have a reason for it, as silly as the rest of it has been.
And Flair losing to Bischoff. I was there live and it was probably the worst card I've ever sat through.
ReplyDeleteBriscoe's in ROH went a year winning matches 2 falls to 0
ReplyDeleteFlair beat Foley in two straight falls as well. Flair pinned him in the first fall and then Foley intentionally got himself DQ'ed in the second so he could bloody Flair.
ReplyDeleteFall1: Miz's music plays. Cesaro roll up.
ReplyDeleteFall2: Sheamus's music plays. Dolph rollup.
Fall3: Double clothesline outside the ring. Double count out.
ZIGGLER TECHNICALLY WINS!
Free agent bid system. Come on now. It's 2014.
ReplyDeleteOnly works in an auction-style draft, otherwise what are you bidding? Points in the next game? Person you're giving up?
ReplyDeleteYeah, WCW was weird that way in the 3 hour Nitro era in particular -- a huge roster of names and yet they'd drag out the WCWSN guys for filler matches on PPVs. What's even more puzzling is that the WWFs roster was painfully thing at that point with their own awful undercards, so you'd think the roster would have been their biggest advantage.
ReplyDeleteYou're thinking of guaran-DAMN-tee.
ReplyDeleteI doubt it. The disclaimers cover them and they aren't bound to TV-PG standards- or any standards, really- on their own, for-purchase internet channel, so they really have no reason to. But yeah, I guess you can't ever count out Vince doing things for reasons that may not even be clear to him.
ReplyDeleteWell in my mind, he was a very credible wrestler for several years, it did strike me as odd that he had never had a shot before.
ReplyDeleteEvery team gets a 100 dollar budget. You can spend any amount on any player on waivers. It just gives everyone a chance to get the hot guy.
ReplyDeleteFor example. You want tre mason. So you bid 32 dollars on him. When you make your move ( add mason drop say, horrible kirk cousins) you enter your amount. If you are the high bid, you get him. If not, your move is void, just like a waiver claim.
After waivers are run, anyone can pick up anybody without spending money.
I'm In a 16 team league, so we have to do it that way, since there's little depth. But I've been pushing it in all my leagues.
BOOK IT!
ReplyDeleteMatch time: 6:34
ReplyDeleteHIRE THIS MAN.
ReplyDeleteI remember, I still would have tried to get him to work the show.
ReplyDeleteI've given up on the secondary titles and titleholders meaning anything. It's a lost battle at this point.
ReplyDeleteYeah you guys just died after the two opening crusier matches.
ReplyDeleteGeez, how many players are there per team? I don't do anything more than 10-team leagues because I don't think the rosters ever fit the available pool of talent.
ReplyDeleteI watch every week and those are two of my current favorites, and I honestly had forgotten about that. You're right, though, I guess that did happen. But has there been any actual follow-up to that, actually stating that's the reason they're still going at each other? I honestly do not remember if it's even been referenced again.
ReplyDeleteI think it was also on an old Coliseum best of IYH compilation. Either way I LOVE that match.
ReplyDeleteI think caesaro mentioned in on commentary/twitter a couple of times calling Ziggler a coward/cheat for ducking him and not giving him a rematch for the title.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but in those examples at least they're, y'know, things. Rock wasn't just given catchphrases and BOOM! OVER. He came up with awesome catchphrases and had the charisma to get them more over than anyone else. Same with Taker and his gimmick: he still had to make it work.
ReplyDeleteIn my example of Daniel Bryan, he had a hook the fans got behind, too, in an ass-backwards sort of way. But just being booked to win matches and look strong isn't in and of itself a real thing. So if fans love a guy even though he's jobbing every week or made to look like a bitch, there's a good chance of some substance being behind that guy's overness.
So I think it does make some sense in, again, a sort of an ass-backward way. But when they're picking and choosing who ends up getting pushed out of those scenarios independently of how over they are, it's really frustrating.
I remember being pumped for this card as a kid. Bret Hart gets revenge for his stolen jacket! The triple crown match was a great concept for me as a fan. Waylon Mercy losing was like something out of left field, though.
ReplyDeleteWhat I loved most is that the next night on RAW they booked Yoko/Owen vs. Smoking Gunns and made fans believe that a rematch was looming for Diesel/HBK for the belts. Then the Gunns scored the upset for the belts in a finish where Yoko accidentally squashed Owen. It was a huge mark out moment for me as a fan because I gave the Gunns 0% chance to win.
Sort of, but it didn't have the whole "shake the referees hand and break rules" element to it, which I found hilarious. I loved the idea of a guy giving clean breaks in some instances or holding the ropes open for his opponent, but then suddenly attacking him in other corner situations and such.
ReplyDeletePretty much this.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit surprised that my auction draft league didn't use dollar limit for waivers as well. Also, wouldn't it make sense to add what is left over from the draft into the waivers pool?
I finished my auction draft with $44 left, so I should be able to use that for the waivers as well. It's all part of spending $$$ correctly and wisely.
How do you actually feel about this? I'm sure plenty of people thought this is yet another example of 50/50.
ReplyDeleteYou are defending it, attacking it, or just neutral?
I'm just neutral on it. I don't like their feud enough to really care.
It will be a good match, and I hope they get plenty of time, regardless of who wins. That is all.
ReplyDeleteI thought Ziggler beat Cesaro? Now I'm all confused.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be more than the livestream stuff. The SuperStar Billy Graham DVD was altered as well.
ReplyDeleteIncluding entrances.
ReplyDeleteI still think Halloween Havoc 1998 is one of the best ppvs of 1998 even though it has one of the worst matches of all time in Hogan-Warrior II.
ReplyDeleteWell, to me that sounds like NO ONE gets over... IIII LIKE IT! - Vince
ReplyDeleteThey should just make this their version of Lockdown and have all matches in the Cell.
ReplyDeleteThis is why, if I had a Raw genie that would grant me one wish, Raw would be an hour.
ReplyDeleteWas this after the murder-suicide with MVP winning both falls via countout?
ReplyDeleteToo soon.
ReplyDeleteThe funny thing is they feel that since it worked for Daniel Bryan it will work for everyone else. But in Bryan's case he had all the intangibles that would have gotten him over regardless of what they would have done. That's not the case with 95% of the roster. There still need to be a level of credibility for someone to get over.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad. When I was a kid, the ONLY thing I wanted was to be intercontinental champion. Forget the world title, I wanted the belt Ricky Steamboat, Rick Rude, Mr. Perfect, and Razor Ramon held.
ReplyDeleteBut if I were in WWE, I can't imagine I'd feel the same way, seeing how they treat the intercontinental title now.
Yes. Until it was discovered that Cesaro cheated, so a third fall is ordered.
ReplyDeleteZiggler loses that one too.
no one gives a damn about the IC title; it's not 1989.
ReplyDeleteI doubt there were very many guys on the roster in any era who'd rather be IC Champion than world champion.
ReplyDeleteThis is another example of people making bad decisions because they come from a field other than TV or cinema. Props do have value and signification. Lightsabers, hoverboards, the Lost Ark... all those are props. No one would think they're meaningless.
ReplyDeleteOutside of one or two matches, that undercard was basically Bound For Glory 2014 in overall interest.
ReplyDeleteI really miss little things like:
ReplyDeleteref-distracting spots
ame but fun IRS-style cheating (feet on the ropes in a chinlock, grabbing the ropes during an abdominal stretch)
good commentary that enhances a match rather than detract from
good ring announcing
run-ins without entrance music
insert promos during matches (although I've seen that now and then),
a disinterested authority figure like Tunney
more static camera angles that don't zoom in on every punch...
I'm not necessarily saying these things made the product better, but they're certainly things that I get nostalgic about.
Hence why Rusev is not U.S. Champion even though that's the logical place for his character to be right now.
ReplyDeleteI think it's more than that. I don't think the majority of people hate Cena or what him permanently shunted to the mid card, I think people are just tired of his same act. Which is why the title loss to Brock was refreshing. He showed vulnerability and became a bit more interesting.
ReplyDeleteI really wish Flair had a little more dignity about who he jobbed to. He's had the stroke before in WCW to refuse a job, and yet he lays down for guys like Bischoff and Russo? That was some sad-ass shit.
ReplyDeleteChris Jericho, in his documentary, said his initial goal in getting into wrestling was to become Intercontinental champion. But that was less about not wanting the world title, and more about not thinking he'd ever get the shot in a million years.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't want to be world champion because, as a kid, it felt like too much pressure. But now, when titles don't matter, I imagine it'd be fun.
Yep, Bret said pretty much the same thing in his first DVD. When he won the IC title, he felt his career was a success, mostly because he never dreamed he could go further. So it's more like they'd "settle" for the IC title.
ReplyDeleteHe should have chosen Warrior as his running mate. There's no telling how many electoral votes Parts Unknown carries.
ReplyDeleteWhy should be blood less "dangerous" than nudity?
ReplyDeleteYou guys have just made me very sad.
ReplyDeleteMy Wii U came in the mail today. Too bad my games don't come until tomorrow, lol.
ReplyDeleteOh, I totally agree, I'm just referring specifically to his mixed-at-best reactions. I don't know if that's when we started behaving like this as fans, in how we largely reject what we perceive as having been given Vince/HHH/Steph's stamp of approval, or if it was something inevitable as more and more fans have smartened up.
ReplyDeleteJericho didn't really settle, per se. He noted that he wanted to be IC champ because he wanted to be Ricky Steamboat. Jericho grew up valuing the IC title, which is why I'm so tickled that he's the guy who's held it more than anyone in history (and is arguably responsible for the last great IC feud, against Rey Mysterio).
ReplyDeleteIC title usually meant stellar matches back in the day. The lighter guys wrestled for it. I loved it. It was something different than the usual Hogan title defense.
ReplyDeleteCan someone please explain this "leaving money on the table" thing? So many folks talk about WWE revenue but I don't get why? What do you care how much this company makes or loses? Is it like a validation of opinions? I mean, "Office Space" bombed when it came out, what does it matter? Great movie. How does it affect your enjoyment?
ReplyDeleteI don't know about that. I'm guessing the guys who were making a ton of money with Hogan on top in the late 80s were perfectly fine getting the IC belt. It's probably different today since the show will draw (nearly) regardless of who is champion.
ReplyDeleteMan, I have really been pondering whether or not to get one of those. I played Mario Kart 8 at Game Stop a few weeks ago, and it really made me want one.
ReplyDeleteI figured I'd have more fun with it than a PS4 or XboxOne. It was $200 used on Amazon. That's 1/2 what the other consoles are.
ReplyDelete$200? Cool. Might have to look at one over there myself.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see a 2/3 falls match where all of the falls were given some time and where none of them were a fluke or roll-up victory...but I'm realistic about what to expect from the Ziggler/Cesaro match. Still should be pretty good though!
ReplyDeleteIs there anything on it that you'd recommend? I'm probably not going next-gen anytime soon, but a system that can play Wii games that's somewhat affordable I might look into.
ReplyDeleteMockingbird was awesome last night on Agents of SHIELD
ReplyDeleteThe IC title was one of the cooler looking titles back in the day, plus you saw the champs on TV more than the World champ (seemingly).
ReplyDeleteSham on
ReplyDeleteHEE hee
Hey, neat comment! Doesn't really have anything to do with what I said, nor is 1989 by any means the last year that title mattered, but thanks for sharing your thoughts!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of the IC title looking cool in the past, I wish we'd get some different-colored straps. Love the white, but I kind of miss the black, and the brown, and even the gold. Hell, I even miss Razor's yellow-strapped IC title.
ReplyDeleteExactly. They sort of did the idea of a crazy guy that could snap at anytime but was usually calm and collected with Mankind and it ended up working pretty well.
ReplyDeleteIf I grew up in the 80s and wasn't a huge athlete, I'd be the same. Bret/Jericho never would have won a main title back then. Even Bret backed into it in his era.
ReplyDeleteI think Some IC Champions ( Like Honky Tonk Man for example) made shed loads of money headlining B or C house shows. It also ( until recently, like within the next 5 years) meant you were guaranteed a PPV slot/heyday. And it used to mean they wanted to move you up the card to world title ( Bret Hart/HHH/Rock e.g)
ReplyDeleteWhen Warrior wore them, he had different colors. Shoot, I even remember a powder-blue variant that looked kinda nice (if not a bit kiddy).
ReplyDeleteI bought Super Mario 3D World and Legend of Zelda: WInd Waker HD. Other great games that I am looking forward to getting are Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Bayonetta 2, Super Smash Bros. Wii U (comes out next month), Rayman Legends, New Super Mario Bros. Wii U, Pikmin 3, Child of Light, Hyrule Warriors. Also, third party games like Assassin's Creed III and IV, Mass Effect 3, and Deus Ex are under $10 for it.
ReplyDeleteReally, that's why the TV and European titles were important; you had distinct levels of guys:
ReplyDelete1st tier: World Title(Rare/no TV jobs)
2nd tier: US/IC title( Usually wins on TV, with the occasional DQ or countout loss)
3rd tier: TV/ European title( often wins, but can job to 1st or 2nd tier with no problem)
4th tier: Jobbers
I'm not even that sure that it could be say that the IC champ was a legit draw, just from my own experiences as a kid. Because competitive matches were so rare, that the moment my friends and I heard the WWF was coming near us, we were immediately going, before the card was even announced. We just wanted to see star vs star matches, regardless of if any titles were on the line.
ReplyDeleteDownload some classics then bro
ReplyDelete"We are merely exchanging long protein strings. If you can think of a simpler way, I'd like to hear it."
ReplyDeleteFrom my memory, the IC title was sometimes white, sometimes yellow, and the WWF title was the powder blue one.
ReplyDeleteI don't think an ending of a comic book movie ever made me so happy as Days of Future Past. Bryan Singer basically said, "Sorry I tried to put X-Mwn 3 on hold so I could make Superman Returns."
ReplyDeleteMight have to.
ReplyDeleteI was the exact same way for whatever reason. IC belt was where its at. I had the influence too of the ladder matches
ReplyDeleteDid cross my mind if it was a nudge and a wink to Sting.
ReplyDeleteI was Days of Future Past had more Sentinels battling.
ReplyDeleteMan, that's like waking up on Christmas morning to find a new system under your tree, only to learn your parent didn't get an extra controller, so you and your brother have to take turns and he BOGARTS THE HELL OUT OF WAVE RACE 64. WHY WON'T YOU LET ME PLAY>!>!?!?! YOU'VE BEEN PLAYING FOR FOUR HOURS!!!!
ReplyDeleteAhem....anyway, yeah. Tough situation.
Just play with a paddle and ball on a string. YOU NEVER KNOW WHICH WAY THAT CRAZY BALL WILL GO!!
ReplyDeleteIronically enough, even if the IC title is getting buried, it's still the worker's belt.
ReplyDeleteZiggler tends to have good matches.
Cesaro would be fine.
Miz wasn't so great, but I've always liked Miz even though most others don't seem agree.
Dougie would agree.
ReplyDeleteIs there a better "complete package" wrestler than 2001 Kurt Angle?
ReplyDeleteIt's like finding a black fly, in your Chardonnay.
ReplyDeleteDownload some old school Zelda, or get Shovel Knight and the Duck Tales game.
ReplyDelete99 Triple H.
ReplyDeleteWhen would he have fit into the world title picture before this? He was a tag team guy and then a guy who barely WM the IC title and by all means could only do it in front of his home country. He had no memorable defenses other than losing it to HBK. at what point would he have been in the world title picture?
ReplyDeleteAlex Wright 1994-1995. Wait what do you mean when you say complete package?
ReplyDeleteEverytime there's a new US/IC Champion there's always the vow that this person will make it better. And while they do things like tournaments and special types of matches, ultimately those champions are placed in the background and look like geeks.
ReplyDeleteAn example, when Big E was IC Champion and Dean Ambrose was US Champion at the same time, Big E was the better champion actively defending the title every night, while Ambrose was just wearing the belt never defending it. Yet after both losing the titles Ambrose is about to main event the next special event while Big E is just another JTTS on the roster. The main difference in how the two was booked was that Big E was defending against all the midcard geeks while losing to the upper carders, while Ambrose was interacting with the upper carders and featured on Raw regularly.
Right now Dean Ambrose is on the verge of a main event push while Big E is getting repackaged (or something) because one was presented as a star upon the time he came in while the other was position as just another midcarder.
I'm not a Miz Guy, but I have no problem with him in the scene. Rather watch him then Big E
ReplyDeleteI think Steen, if given the chance and not stuck with a shit gimmick would be good for an IC or US title
Hell in a Cell has potentially four ****+ matches on the card. IC title, tag title, both HIAC matches. I really hope it ends up a good show and not a big letdown.
ReplyDeleteLex Luger.
ReplyDeleteOh, definitely. His psychology was still a little weird (though some people take this criticism of him way overboard) and his goofy persona, while awesome, had something of a limiting factor to it. He wasn't even the most complete package wrestler of that year. Rock, Austin and pre-injury HHH were still ahead of him.
ReplyDeleteScorpio. Topic over.
ReplyDeleteThat's the total package. Totally different!
ReplyDeleteCan't stop laughing at the latest UFC injury report. Mark Hunt in a world title fight? Bwaahahaha.
ReplyDeleteThe Wii U Virtual Console has a decent selection, although the Wii version is still much more stocked.
ReplyDeleteThey need to stop giving fighters 4-6 months in between fights.
ReplyDeleteSo when will everybody in UFC be a former world champion?
ReplyDeleteI guess what I'm saying was that I'm not seeing Boobs on network tv, but I'm seeing blood.
ReplyDeletehttp://cnet4.cbsistatic.com/hub/i/2014/10/20/b9395444-dce5-4020-aae6-19d8bc6b6fe7/casupermovies2.jpg
ReplyDeleteAre we complaining about Cesaro winning now? I missed this mornings meeting...
ReplyDeleteThis is the best part of this match. An IWC darling has to lose, so they are covered both ways when it comes to complaining!
ReplyDeleteOne win streak is all you need for a title fight baby!
ReplyDeleteI have no desire to see another Fantastic Four reboot. Honestly, I liked the cast of the old one and found them almost perfect. Except for Jessica Alba, was Charlize Theron not available?
ReplyDeleteWell.. I for one don't see Black or White.. I just see people.. people that bleed..
ReplyDeleteNo it was while MVP was locked up and Benoit won both by count out.
ReplyDeleteI am somehow more excited for Cap 3 than Batman v. Superman despite being a huuuuge Batman fan.
ReplyDeleteI believe the proper term would be "Yep".
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome.
Anybody know if the Flash movie will be the same Flash from the TV series? Also, Rock will be 48 when Shazam comes out.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a great match one of them would likely be dead the shots would be so stiff.
ReplyDeleteI thought X-Men First Class was decent but Days of Future Past was easily my favorite X-Men movie so far.
ReplyDeleteThat looks ridiculously over-saturated.
ReplyDelete10 movies in 2017 alone.
ReplyDeleteI went to an indie show a while back that had something called a U30 title; meaning it can only be won by people under 30. Since WWE has a fairly young roster, it could work there. Plus if you want to protect someone they can go undefeated and forfeit the strap on their 30th birthday.
ReplyDeleteWasn't the rumor that there would be no Harley Quinn in the Suicide Squad movie?
ReplyDeleteThe "Superboy Prime punch" of endings.
ReplyDeleteThe more connected the fans are to the product, the more willing they are willing to spend money on it. And in return the more money the company makes, theoretically the better able they'll be to deliver what the fans like. Yes, to some extent we like for that which we enjoyed to be commercially successful as a form of validation. Fans may also look for things in wrestling to be artistically successful regardless of profit (a five star technical match for example). But in the end wrestling is a business and we are consumers of that business, and "leaving money on the table" is a criticism that the company may have done wrong by the fans, itself, or both. It may seem a silly criticism when a company is putting on a generally good product, it already making a lot of money (as WWE currently is), but remember this is a business where failure isn't the exception, it's the norm. The WWF was a money losing company for part of the 90's. WCW went out of business, as did ECW and most of the territories. TNA is on the verge of extinction. Wrestling has to earn money to survive, and to do that they need fans to spend money on merchandise, PPVs, the Network, and live events. Merely being entertaining on free TV isn't enough. TV ratings are a trailing indicator, not a leading one, as it only indicates fans' willingness to invest time, not money.
ReplyDeleteHeel Trish Stratus?
ReplyDeleteAre they really gonna try to release Unknown Movie multiple times and not think people will notice?
ReplyDeleteEh...not loving that one.
ReplyDeleteIt's the Abeyance Trilogy.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't understand why they got away from it. Well actually I do, they thought they could make everyone on the roster a tier 1 guy, but they actually made everyone but 3 or 4 people tier 4 and it deatroyed the product.
ReplyDeleteIn six parts, plus spinoffs, apparently
ReplyDeleteTJ: Gunman storms parliament in Canada, 3 shot
ReplyDeleteThe fault clearly lies in the US's obsessed gun culture.
ReplyDeletePart 1: Yep - The Prequel
ReplyDeletePart 2: Yep - The Beginning
Part 3: Yep - Abeyance Strikes Back
And I was totally okay with it. He undid a lot of the stupidity created in the third movie.
ReplyDeleteYeah, wrestling needs a hierarchy. This ain't the NFL, fuck that parity shit.
ReplyDelete*Puts own eye out*
ReplyDeleteWould a PG-13 rating (or whatever the equivalent is on television) really affect their relationship with Mattel?
ReplyDeleteWell Black Adam is like thousands of years old so that is fine.
ReplyDeleteWell, Man of Steel was a huge mess and Captain America: Winter Soldier was among the best comic book movies ever released.
ReplyDeleteIf only those three had guns to defend themselves with...
ReplyDeleteIf you like the Lego games Lego Marvel and Lego City Undercover (which is WiiU exclusive) are the best ones ever.
ReplyDeleteOrton vs Cena? Have they ever had a 4 star match?
ReplyDelete... because if he wins it, he'll eventually lose it, and if they're building him to face John Cena it'd be beneath Cena with win the US Title. This is the problem with those two titles. They don't look at it as what can they do for the one who wins it, rather simply who are they going to lose it to? They then build to those matches by having them swap wins, thinking this will make the eventual outcome a surprise. They've forgotten how to have a champion and a challenger both win matches, building both up, because they only know to have them wrestle each other multiple times on free TV to build to their ppv match. The champ then loses most other matches because they are usually just part of the other person's storyline, not their own. WWE rarely bothers to protect titleholders anymore.
ReplyDeleteMy best friend works there...she's alright, though.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the inflatable goblin/cauldron entrance!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately no. Ezra Miller will be playing The Flash.
ReplyDeleteAll the sads.
Rock, Austin and pre-injury HHH couldn't do the things Angle could like moonsaults and technical chain wrestling.
ReplyDeleteOnly good memory about the flash: *knockknockknock* Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-Penny-
ReplyDeleteThose were some cool scenes.
ReplyDeleteTaz would be an awful gunman because before every shot he would pause to say "THIS IS A SHOOT BROTHA'"
ReplyDeleteSummerslam 2007, Breaking Point 2009
ReplyDelete*3 botched
ReplyDelete(just trying to add some levity)
But everyone would turn around say say "who said that?" #LOLSHORT
ReplyDelete"Ya wanna fuckin watch WCW with their 50 year old man as champ!? Id murder him! Ya wanna fuckin watch WWF with Stone Cold as their champ, eh, he's OK, but id murder him too brotha!"
ReplyDeleteI always laugh that the WWE is trying to appeal to kids ... yet their primary show starts at 8 pm on a Monday night and isn't over until past 11. Back in the 80s and early 90s, it made sense due to the Saturday morning and weekend shows, but the company's timeslots have been counter-productive for 20 years now.
ReplyDeleteI seriously can't believe Superhero Movies ever took off like this. I guess once nerds controlled the disposable income... there became a huge market for this stuff.
ReplyDeleteDid ECW use...height enhancing cameras, maybe? Tazz looked alot bigger in ECW than compared when he stepped into WWE
ReplyDeletelotta kneecaps popped that day
ReplyDeleteYep
ReplyDeleteYep 2: Secret of the Ooze
Yep 3: Dream Warriors
I like the notion that Marvel is working on a deal with Sony to have Spider-Man back to crossover into their universe. If they're going to do Civil War, they really do need Spider-Man, and I think that's what has been compelling these talks on Marvel's part (and the underperformance of the new Spidey movies, on Sony's).
ReplyDeleteIt's also why I think Marvel is frontloading its schedule with so many more superhero movies and TV shows over the coming years. For the Civil War story to work, we need more superpowered people than just The Avengers. So adding Spidey, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, maybe the Suicide Squad, and TV show people like the Agents of SHIELD, Luke Cage, Daredevil and others only makes sense. Not saying they'll use all of these people for anything more than a microsecond cameo, but it should add a sense of population to the superhero side of the cinematic universe. That said, the more heroes you introduce, the more confusing it gets when, say, Thor is in his own movie dealing with an Asgardian threat to Earth, and you're left to wonder why in the fuck he doesn't just call up Iron Man and The Hulk and co. But I'd rather have a huge cinematic universe, even if some heroes end up isolated in their own little problems without much explanation for why other heroes don't get involved. Really, it's a problem all comics and related properties have, so it's no big deal.
FFS. I don't want to watch any of these. Not a single one. I'm a geek for wrestling and all of this superhero nonsense and go screw.
ReplyDeleteIt takes time to train for an opponent. If a top level guy goes twice a year, it's impressive. That's what made Ronda taking a one month break between title fights even better.
ReplyDeleteSuicide Squad is DC Comics.
ReplyDeleteJesus, that's awful. Did Scott go out of town or something?
ReplyDeleteAt least they haven't done interim belts in a while. Hate that crap.
ReplyDeleteI was at that Summerslam (awful show, actually---- Batista/Khali, shiitty HHH and Rey back-from-injury matches against Booker and Chavo, a really disjointed Punk/Morrison ECW match, a Kane match, and a Divas battle royal) and I remember while the last 5 minutes or so of Cena/Orton were good, the opening ten minutes was seriously one long Orton chinlock. It was the most cliche "all Orton does is chinlocks" match possible. It was the best show on that card, but hardly anything special.
ReplyDeleteWe'll all breathe a sigh of relief when we find out the Canadian shooters only hated these cans.
ReplyDeleteNo, everyone else in ECW was also a midget.
ReplyDeleteGenuine LOL.
ReplyDeleteBut I love Batman. But I won't accept a Batman with a Superman in it.
ReplyDeleteOnly if Dokken does the theme song for part 3
ReplyDeleteI'm a comic book nerd but I'm starting to feel superhero movie fatigue as well. Once Hollywood finds a certain success formula, they'll milk it dry. Like Vince when he found that people liked AJ so he had her on 10 segments every RAW.
ReplyDeleteAm I overlooking something or are you taking a sabbatical from WWF '98 recaps? I enjoy reading your recaps.
ReplyDeleteImagine if they just went out there and did 40 minutes?
ReplyDelete"Waiter, my Batman has a Superman in it!"
ReplyDelete
