Hell In A Cell Attendance

WWE announced that the attendance at the American Airlines Center in Dallas was a legit sellout at 15,303.

WWE Dropping Elimination Chamber PPV?

The Wrestling Observer reports that Elimination Chamber is being dropped as the February PPV, and is being replaced with the name Fast Lane. The Elimination Chamber match itself is said to be moved further down the calendar as a setup for SummerSlam.

Former Wrestler Suing WWE

Billy Jack Haynes has reportedly filed a lawsuit against WWE, alleging egregious mistreatment of its wrestlers for its own benefit, as well as its concealment and denial of medical research and evidence concerning traumatic brain injuries suffered by WWE wrestlers. Haynes last wrestled for WWE in 1988.

New Series Premieres on the WWE Network Tonight

WWE Rivalries makes it's debut on the WWE Network tonight after RAW. The first episode will focus on the feud between Steve Austin and Vince McMahon.

Comments

  1. I think Metsfan4ever from reddit was the first to report about the EC PPV.

One thing that kinda baffles me is that people are still irritated by WWE's supernatural tactics. People, this company has always been doing silly shit like this. From Kane shooting up fire and Taker with lightning, this holographic image from last night really isn't any different. How are people NOT tuning out if they are so sick of it? There's just something that people love about hating on something.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Oh my god that's a terrible name.

I like the Chamber but it doesn't need to be February...it particularly doesn't make sense this year if Brock is still champ. Wow though, Fast Lane??? That's awful.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Always wanted WWE to use Redemption as a PPV name.

    ReplyDelete
  4. It's fun to hate. Sometimes, more fun than it is to enjoy.

I can't speak for everyone, but my only real issue with Wyatt's involvement is that it seems that Ambrose will now be feuding with Wyatt while Rollins moves on to... Orton? Maybe?

And the Ambrose/Rollins feud never gets a real, proper blowoff. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but Ambrose never got a win over Rollins, did he? He sprayed him with green goop and tonged his dong, but he always choked in matches. And now, with Wyatt apparently due for a renewed push, my guess is Ambrose puts him over as well. Seems sort of counterproductive.

    ReplyDelete
  5. If you need me I'll be watching some old school wrestling, mainly WWF Wrestlemania III. You know when the booking was not that fucking retarded.

    ReplyDelete
  6. They likely just discovered the 3 year old Eminem / Royce song and want to use it as the theme song.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I think I get what WWE is doing now!

Dean Ambrose is Tommy Dreamer and Seth Rollins is Raven! Dean will never pin him!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Yea, I think that's very fair. Ambrose/Rollins was the best thing going in the WWE and nothing even came close.

I hope somehow Ambrose/Rollins continues because I'm still entertained by it and, damn it, I want to see Ambrose get his win.

    ReplyDelete
  9. There was nothing retarded about yesterday's booking. Just saying.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Who is thinking up these ppv names? Is there really someone on hundreds of thousands a dollars a year that thinks 'Fast Lane' is a good ppv nname?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Legit sellout, and the crowd was pretty hot the entire time, including for the Cena/Orton match.

OMG 1999 WCW, WWE is going out of business!!!

(Sorry, had to do it. It's out of my system now)

    ReplyDelete
  12. When they did this at Royal Rumble 94' it got rightfully shat all over. It was stupid, contrived, and not entertaining in the least, much like the Bray Wyatt angle last night. Kane was very violent and presented in a very over the top, tongue in cheek sort of way. They went all in with Kane where they were half pregnant with things like Papa Shango and more recently Bray Wyatt.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Did you actually watch the show? and if so how?

    ReplyDelete
  14. And isn't Over the Limit their token speed racing PPV?

    ReplyDelete
  15. They have a whole shit load of awesome PPV names sitting on the shelf - WCW, ECW, and even some their old ones like No Mercy.

    ReplyDelete
  16. A 12 min 2/3 falls match is stupid, especially with guys that can go.

    ReplyDelete
  17. See, I remember watching that when I was about six, and thinking that it was really cool. I bought in Taker's hype and I enjoyed the fact that a wrestler like him had supernatural powers.

I don't find the hologram insulting even the slightest. It just wasn't the ending that I was hoping for.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I did watch the entire show. And.... ......
    ....... It's a secret... *shuttt uuuppppppppp....*

    ReplyDelete
  19. I wouldn't call the crowd hot the entire time.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Now all dean needs to do is start taking himself way too seriously and overstating his worth to wrestling and he's all set

    ReplyDelete
  21. So Dean will be in GFW years from now, talking about how he had the WWE crowds in the palm of his hand that one time?

    ReplyDelete
  22. The ending to the main event wasn't stupid?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Your pessimism saddens Vince Jordan.

    ReplyDelete
  24. You know it's a possibility...

    ReplyDelete
  25. You are one of the lamer trolls in recent memory. At least Jobber makes it fun when he does it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. People pretty much did tune out in 1994 when Taker died, in 1998 when Hogan saw the magic mirror, in 2005 when Randy Orton saw the magic mirror...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Several PPV main events ended with a screwjob finish, which led to a new feud. So while I would have liked a clean win from Ambrose, there was nothing stupid about it, no.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Maybe they are wating for Wrestlemania to blow it off?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Get in the Fast Lane on the Road to WrestleMania!

    ReplyDelete
  30. all McDevitt and WWE needs to do is show a judge Billy Jack's RF shoot interview. Case dismissed.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I don't mind screwjobs, but I hate lame unrealistic screwjobs.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'll agree about the magic mirrors, but Taker dying and levitating was awesome. And that is a fact, baby!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Wouldn't that weird-ass interview be evidence of Billy Jack's concussion-addled brain?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm not Vince apologists, but some of this is BS. Haynes wrestled for like 15 years, only two of it was for the WWF. But Vince is responsible?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Can't you just hear early 1990s Vince saying that and then the classic WrestleMania theme (the one that ended up Linda McMahon's music) kicking in?

    ReplyDelete
  36. no way it is to honor the one season wonder TV show starring Bill Bellamy

    ReplyDelete
  37. The booking direction is solid. But nobody needed to see "Dean Ambrose meets a ghost."

If we'd just gotten the blackout, creepy words and than Bray standing over a fallen Dean it would have been perfectly great.

The screwjob was not the problem, the ghost was.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Fast Lane is a pretty stupid name. just name the fucking thing No Way Out again.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I like all of these things!

Especially Billy Hack sworn deposition, that will make some nice reading someday.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I see, maybe they should make it WWE Holding Pattern.

    ReplyDelete
  41. No one tuned out of WCW and WWE because Orton and Hogan saw other figures in a mirror. Don't be silly.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Judging by the depth of PPV names like "Elimination Chamber," "Hell in a Cell," and "Fatal Four Way," I can only assume it's going to involve some type of track meet theme, or perhaps stock car racing. That could be something different, at least.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Featuring the return of Bob "Spark Plugg" Holly? SIGN ME UP.

    ReplyDelete
  44. You're right; those were extremely popular segments that expanded WWE and WCW's fanbase.

    ReplyDelete
  45. And two straight falls? WTF?!

    ReplyDelete
  46. But you said they tuned out. He corrected you.

    ReplyDelete
  47. SuperBrawl for the win.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I liked that. I usually had best of 7's that ALWAYS go 7, and 2 out of 3 falls that ALWAYS go 3. It was a nice little twist, I was expecting Cesaro to get the pin, then boom, Ziggler sweeps out of nowhere.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hopefully Elimination Chamber being changed to a special occasion is just the beginning. Maybe they'll scrap the Hell in a Cell and TLC PPVs too.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yeah, I didn't mind a sweep.

I have decided to watch all the Survivor Series on the Network IN REVERSE, starting with 2013 and going all the way back to 1987.

This may be a suicide mission...

    ReplyDelete
  60. Nope, I just give my honest opinion, and point out positives in the product. Sorry if you don't agree with it and you feel the need to troll me over it. Now go away.

    ReplyDelete
  61. So glad they brought out that song for Hogan's b-day celebration earlier this year.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Who reported that Cena/Orton would go on last? Internet reporting strikes again!

    ReplyDelete
  63. It amuses me that Noble and Mercury are higher up the card as lackeys than they ever were as wrestlers.

I thought the main event last night was better than the rating Scott gave it. Closer to four stars than three, at least. Yeah, the ending was goofy, but not much more than the first Cell match. I expect, not unlike Bryan/Wyatt turned out, this'll be a roadblock before the big Ambrose/Rollins blow off at Mania. I hope.

Is it me, or is the ring mic'd way too loud now? Crowd seemed hot enough last night, but they weren't mixed high enough.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Billy Jack Haynes: I read about this the other day and the article I read correlated Haynes' lawsuit with the lawsuit that cost the NFL $765 million dollars a couple of years ago. That opened the door for this lawsuit and if the NFL could lose, then I think the WWE could lose. If they have to pay anything close to what the NFL did, then it might be "lights out" for the company.

Elimination Chamber shouldn't be the name of the PPV, although moving the annual match to July - September is probably a good idea. Maybe they realized even if it's not that hardcore compared to before, that wrestling in the Chamber might hurt their talent RIGHT BEFORE WRESTLEMANIA is a bad idea.

"Austin vs. McMahon first?! That's bullshit!. Everybody knows I should have been first. Later on, Austin walked up to me, and with a tear in his eye, Austin said said to me "Bret, your rivalry with Shawn should have been first."

Vin would probably be a good worker too.

  174. So for those defending the finish last night as good booking and that Ambrose (much like everything else) is totally fine, would you agree that Ambrose/Wyatt coming out of that finish puts them in a major bind? Two supossedly rising stars both coming off of big losing streaks are now gonna feud with eachother. So basically, someone's gonna come out of this looking like a chump.

Wouldn't it have made much more sense for Ambrose to get his big win before moving onto the Bray feud? That way if Bray does come out on top (which he definitely will), Ambrose isn't losing back to back major feuds.

I'd bet the thinking is that Rollins needed the win because he's feuding with Cena and/or Orton next, so it's time for him to do some jobs. (Rather than ya know, Rollins putting Ambrose over last night and then getting his heat back by actually WINNING a feud against the veterans.)

  175. Hogan pinned Piper at SB VII (where Savage turned on Sting or something like that) in one of the dumbest ref moments you'll ever see, where Piper won with a sleeper but the ref restarts the match after Savage put Hogan's leg under the ropes. AFTER THE REF SIGNALED THE BELL.

    Sofa king dumb.

  176. I remember a couple of youngsters named Rocky and Hunter in that situation. They turned out okay if I remember right.

  177. It brings upon good times; No Way Out had some awesome PPVS. 2001 is probably the best secondary PPV ever.

  179. If I am not mistaken it WAS the name of a short lived TV show starring Bill Bellamy, Tiffany Amber-Theissen, and a white guy.

  180. That would require them to come up with stories ahead of time..

  181. I didn't hate that it was a sweep for Ziggler if it leads to them making the IC title at least seem more important. If he loses tonight on Raw, it will seem like a waste. And 12 minutes does seem like not really enough time for a 2 fall match on a PPV.

  183. The difference between the company now and then is gigantic. Cena and Orton still being pushed as the true main guys would be like if Hogan and Savage were still on top of WWE in 97/98. There was a feeling then of the new guys that fans wanted were getting pushed. Nowadays it's the legacy stars are still the ones who come out on top, and everyone else is spinning their wheels against eachother.

  184. Eh they usually have one at least. Or just name it after someone's nickname. Last night could have been "Lunatic Fringe."

  185. So...what with the PPV model being totally dead, they can get rid of these gimmick PPV's right?

If they had half a brain and were pumping subs all year rather than only trying *really hard* to get subs every six months I'd say they should keep them, but they're not doing that so what's the use of gimmicks now?

  187. I will say that I liked the booking of Ziggler/Cesaro. Yeah Cesaro should have gotten a major push this year, but that's over and done with and he's a lost cause. So at least they put someone over STRONG rather than a banana peel third fall finish.

Not that it'll matter, as I'm assuming Ziggler looked strong last night just so he'd make better non-title job fodder for the next month, but in theory it was cool.

  188. I would like to see them get back to protecting finishers. No amount of Michael Cole screaming "RKO OUT OF NOWHERE!!!!" over and over is going to make me believe he's getting the pin the first time he hits that move. And everyone kicks out of finishers now...that whole plot device has lost it's luster for me.

  189. The problem is, the fed knew they were going to push both. Ambrose isn't going to get that, and Wyatt just spent his free time counting lights to Cena. Rocky and Hunter were rising - these guys are being pushed back.

  190. Man, I wonder what Survivor Series is going to look like. Bleacher Report is projecting a Cena vs. Kane, Orton vs. Rollins, Ambrose vs. Bray, Divas 5 on 5, and Traditional 5 on 5 featuring midcarders.
