    First

    *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  2. I never have heartburn and I shit like a champion. Spinach leaves, boys.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Gonna start some Pats. They should be able to blow out the Jets. Hopefully we'll get another butt fumble worthy play from the losers.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Does anybody own a Wii U? If so, which games would you recommend?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Mario Kart 8 and Mario U

    ReplyDelete
  6. Holy shit, if you need to remember why you hate Vince Russo watch some late 99 wcw. I can see his shitty fingerprints all over this show. Medusa just did a "shoot" while shilling Nitro Colone in a bikini and now Hogan and Sting are doing a fucking stupid "shoot" angle instead of a match.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Austin's podcast today was excellent, but othr people have already gone over that. So instead I'll pimp today's edition of Cornette's podcast , which has the editor of FSM talking about the wrestling magazine industry and the history of World of Sport wrestling. The actual interview starts about 30 minutes in for people who don't like Cornette doing the same Cornette rants he always does. His shows are always better when he has an interesting guest on though. The recent ones with JJ Dillon, Sean Wheelock and two historians of Montreal wrestling were excellent.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Brady just might drop a 50 burger tonight on the Jets.

  9. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:00 PM

I actually have fond memories of that show (Havoc '99). I'd just moved up here and didn't have any friends, and I was just really getting into WCW. So it was all new for me, plus it was fall time which I tend to prefer in terms of cooler weather.

    ReplyDelete
  10. So I don't have to rifle through other comments... can you elaborate on Stone Cold?

    ReplyDelete
  11. This would be a fine show if not for the Russo prints

    ReplyDelete
  12. He did a live commentary track to the X7 match and it's fucking amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:02 PM

It was also the 1st time Scott Hall had been on TV regularly for a while, definitely since I'd started watching wrestling in general earlier in the year. So I was pumped to see him in a live aspect, so to speak.

    ReplyDelete
  14. He goes over his match with rock at X-7, breaking it down. Like a directors commentary.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Holy fuck... I need to do this right now.

    ReplyDelete
  16. ROFLOL so hogan just walks out in street clothes and lies down and sting pins him and then Hogan walks off...Vince Russo ladies and gentlemen. The man who destroyed two different wrestling companies!!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yeah I've rewatched the match twice now with his commentary in one ear, it's tremendous.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:03 PM

In case you've never seen the show, it gets better in terms of "what the fuck"ness

    ReplyDelete
  19. Stone Cold is seriously just plain money. I would have never thought that a guy that got dropped on his head for a decade would be so smart and savvy. His podcast is THE best wrestling podcast and one of the best podcasts period. Surprised no-one thought to do that before.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Stranger in the AlpsOctober 16, 2014 at 6:04 PM

Hey! I didn't add that last part!! But it's cool, because placetobenation.com is awesome.

    *thumbs up*

    ReplyDelete
  21. That's the way to do it... gonna get the podcast going on my phone and get the network going on the TV later.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I have never seen this show, or two after it

    ReplyDelete
  23. This week's Review-A-Wai is good too (even though Wai's not there this week). Starrcade 95!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I bet you Vince McMahon saw Halloween Havoc 99 and knew right away the war was over.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:06 PM

Mayhem was an OK show, Starrcade not so much

    ReplyDelete
  26. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:06 PM

But I bet he didn't see all of it. His feed cut out at 10 PM on the dot like everyone else.

I bet he helped pop the Nitro rating the next night b/c he wanted to see how the show ended, too.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I thought the one with the DDP vs Goldberg match from 98 was the one that went long?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Vince: "Halloween... Havoc?"

    ReplyDelete
  29. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:07 PM

Yeah, I FUCKED UP, I FUCKED UP

I read it as '98 for some reason

    ReplyDelete
  30. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:08 PM

It's not Vince's fault that hadn't yet learned of Halloween

    ReplyDelete
  31. I REMEMBER HALLOWEEN, OH OH!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:08 PM

Not sure if anyone saw this since I posted it at the end of the day in the Daily Update, but JBL posted something about the rumored fight b/w Cole and Roberts, and he actually used "Maggle"

    ReplyDelete
  33. From his account or CrankyVince as JBL as Vince?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:09 PM

    as JBL

    ReplyDelete
  35. Good luck tonight, Bayless. Go easy on us. We're just trying to do our job.

    ReplyDelete
  36. For the most part. It had been in a bit of a slump the past few weeks cos he didn't have any interesting guests on, and he did a phone Q&A, which is always death (HEY STONE COLD, IT'S SO AMAZING TO TALK 2 U HOW DID YOU FEEL WHEN YOU GOT DROPED ON UR HED?).

But it's definitely the best show done by a wrestler.

    ReplyDelete
  37. You can tell I'm a wrestling fan, because I haven't listened to this one yet, and immediately am left wanting a Rock/Austin WM19 commentary.

My favorite of their matches, and one of my favorites of all time. Completely character driven and tells an amazing story.

    ReplyDelete
  38. He's been using maggle for ages on twitter.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:11 PM

    Oh, I didn't know

    (My ass better call somebody)

    ReplyDelete
  40. His improv stuff is amazing. He's been on Carolla's podcast a few times and did on the spot PSAs for trivial things like flight procedures, and not littering. Fucking side splitting funny stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Super Mario 3D World and Wii Party U are also solid.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Unfortunately.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Pats have no Ridley and Mayo and its been pouring out all day here. Jets have a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Fuck. I missed the announcement of Stalock starting in net tonight for the Sharks. That's some wasted points...

    ReplyDelete
  45. My team has been sucking so far.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Adam "Colorado" CurryOctober 16, 2014 at 6:15 PM

Just ran to the store and got fucking soaked. Didn't even look like rain outside.

    ReplyDelete
  47. oh god the booking of goldberg vs sid was atrocious. I see wcw going out of business while I watch havoc 99

    ReplyDelete
  48. You can run on the Pats. Ivory should have a solid game.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I only have Vereen and Edelman. And NE's DEF. I think I'm going start both of them. Vereen will get more touches now that Ridley is out, even if Vereen isn't going a workhorse.

    ReplyDelete
  50. If you believe that just until next week.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Stop giving them hope.

    Pats by 14 at least.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'm still keeping Lefell on the bench. Still iffy about him.

    ReplyDelete
  53. At least 30.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Are you also thinking about late 1999 wcw booking?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Adam "Colorado" CurryOctober 16, 2014 at 6:18 PM

Real spinach is pretty good. The frozen shit tastes like seaweed though.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Even after that pussy ass match Sid got a better standing ovation than HHH did in that first Brock match

    ReplyDelete
  57. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:19 PM

Was that the 1st blood match? Where he kept yelling "let it bleed!"

    ReplyDelete
  58. That's nice of you to say but they don't. I don't think it'll be 45-3, but the Jets are close to terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  59. 30 is crazy talk. Pats aren't good enough this season to go 30. Yet.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Adam "Colorado" CurryOctober 16, 2014 at 6:19 PM

I wish Cena would have tapped too so we got that chant again.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Holy fuck 1999 Kimberly Page in titty popping lingere. I don't usually bug out for pg-13 sex appeal stuff but holy shit

    ReplyDelete
  62. Halloween Havoc 91! Chamber of Horrors just starting!

    ReplyDelete
  63. She was unbelievably hot back then. Much hotter than Sable. The entire Nitro Strippers were hotter than any WWE girl.

    ReplyDelete
  64. No its the rip off of Hart vs Austin, where Sid is already busted open before the match and he tries to gallantly fight goldberg off for like 5 minutes and the ref calls the match

    ReplyDelete
  65. Ummm...yeah I think you might be right. I'm pretty impressed

    ReplyDelete
  66. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:21 PM

Might be the same match but not a 1st blood. Definitely remember him yelling "LET IT BLEED!" at some point for something

But yeah, it was a face turn for him

    ReplyDelete
  67. Adam "Colorado" CurryOctober 16, 2014 at 6:21 PM

Did Russo ever have a single original idea? Seems like everything he did post-WWF was a ripoff of something from the WWF.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:21 PM

I like when her booby came out in The 40 Year-Old Virgin

    ReplyDelete
  69. Scott Hall doing his Razor schtick before he actually Razor is weird.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Adam "Colorado" CurryOctober 16, 2014 at 6:22 PM

I loved Fyre, but looking back she wasn't that hot at all.

    ReplyDelete
  71. wow good question. I guess the millionaires club vs new blood angle he ran and then ripped off in tna was a new idea, but thats the only thing I can think of

    ReplyDelete
  72. And that's not even counting Torrie Wilson, and possibly Stacy as she might be a wrestler/manager at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  73. What? I thought we were naming the TMNT weapons...

    ReplyDelete
  74. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:23 PM

    Not all of them

    AC Jazz for example

    ReplyDelete
  75. Why would the Jets ever fire Rex Ryan? There isn't a coach alive they will draw more than him.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Imagine how much of a bigger star she could have been if she worked for Vince.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Party Hard... indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I have no idea what I just watched on CBS, but the song was Andrew WK's PARTY HARD!

I grew to love that song. It's so fun for no reason.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Adam "Colorado" CurryOctober 16, 2014 at 6:24 PM

I swear even that was stolen from somewhere else.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Obviously hindsight is 20-20 but watching this russo booked wcw shit for the first again after all these years is just soooooooooo funny. Like seriouly every awful thing anyone has said about his booking really ISNT hyberole.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:24 PM

    Whisper/Mrs. HBK is legit beautiful

    ReplyDelete
  82. That's some good synergy going on there. WWE hypes Austin's podcast, and Austin does commentary for a match you can see on the Network. I am so checking this out after work tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  83. If Brady could throw for about 700 yards and 11 touchdowns tonight that would be great.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I actually liked late 99 WCW

    ReplyDelete
  85. Adam "Colorado" CurryOctober 16, 2014 at 6:25 PM

She looks great now, but I didn't like her back then.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:25 PM

Oh, I thought you were putting me out of your all's misery

    ReplyDelete
  87. Is that the one where she brings out the cologne and Bobby Heenan says it smells like crap?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Yuck why?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Not with the wet field I don't think.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I like Rex, but the Jets have been terrible at developing talent under his tenure as coach, especially on offense. I think Rex is the perfect coach for veteran teams/players that developed elsewhere and that's why he had success his first two years. But once those veterans signed elsewhere or retired and were replaced by younger players, they've gone backwards.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Its pouring up here and has been all day. But then again, Ridley is out for the year and the other backs aren't great so they will throw a lot is my guess.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Eh, they were strippers for teens... we all have fond memories.

    ReplyDelete
  93. She was my favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  94. cause of the wackiness. Like Sting turning heel and completely no-selling his own heel turn

    ReplyDelete
  95. Adam "Colorado" CurryOctober 16, 2014 at 6:26 PM

In the days of internet porn it feels like the stone age.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Not as funny as the Goldberg heel turn for like 2 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  97. It's a fantastic song. Chemically orchestrated to be so.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I listened to a Wrestling Observer Live a few weeks ago from when Dave had Russo as a guest in December of 99 and both Dave and the callers were mostly complementary of Russo's writing.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I wish I had known they were playing tonight, I would have put Shane Vereen in.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Hey what was the angle with Luger and Bret at Halloween Havoc 99? I just saw the match and Bret jobbed to him in like 6 mintues by tapping clean to a half crab. That seemed really weird but I wasn't really following the product and can't remember what that was all about. I remember those two feuding over the us title but not Bret just tapping like that.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I want the Jets to keep Rex and make him hire his brother Rob this off-season.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I mean, yeah, if you want to win then hire a real coach. Strictly from an entertainment standpoint he's the best

    ReplyDelete
  103. I guess that's why I didn't like it. I just so confused. The rise of HHH in the WWF and the Russo era in WCW really made me not like that era as a sixth grader.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I barely remember that whole timeframe of WCW, but I do remember the Sting turn and he totally mailed in it.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:28 PM

    HEY DEVIN

Did it weird you out that Elvin always called Cliff and Claire "dad" and "mom" even though his own folks were still alive?

    It weirded me out

    ReplyDelete
  106. then just put the thing on a season long hard knocks. This isn't that hard.

    ReplyDelete
  107. The rock hard stone age... yes.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Gotcha. In that case, yeah I agree.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Kim was definitely my favorite. Probably Chae next, which is remarkable considering I don't like Asian girls.

    ReplyDelete
  110. One of my friends as a kid called my mom "mom" despite having living parents... still calls her that actually.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I wonder if coloured turf will ever become a thing in the NFL? Tampa Bay & Jacksonville both play on grass so it'll probably take longer than it otherwise would have if it does.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I saw it as like a movie so terrible you could laugh at it. Me and my brother loved 99 WCW.

    ReplyDelete
  113. WTF?! Already!?!

    ReplyDelete
  114. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:29 PM

Was your mom a better mom to him than his own mom? B/c I don't think that's what was going on with Elvin

    ReplyDelete
  115. Maybe its because he did it so much but having Hogan come out in street clothes on a ppv and lay down in the middle of the ring for Sting is TERRIBLE. And also his "shooting" Medusa stuff. And the poorly constructed Sid vs Goldberg match. It's just seeing that as soon as he gets there, and knowing basically how bad the show got after that is weird.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:29 PM

    That's what she said

    ReplyDelete
  117. So glad I started Vereen.

    ReplyDelete
  118. And vereen already has 10 fantasy points... I bet this ends up costing me a win this week. FUCK!

    ReplyDelete
  119. Not sure why he jobbed that way but he was getting the world title so I guess this was the Russo way of getting it off of him

    ReplyDelete
  120. And yet there are people seriously saying he should be brought back to WWE today. That's one of the most confusing things I see on here.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I tried to and was too late to put him in. FUCK!

    ReplyDelete
  122. Heh, you really wish that now.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Stranger in the AlpsOctober 16, 2014 at 6:30 PM

    Ohhhhhhhhhh.....enchiladas!

    *unzips pants*

    ReplyDelete
  124. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:30 PM

I like when he was Webster's uncle

    ReplyDelete
  125. I'd make fun but I'm watching Halloween Havoc 91 which is fucking terrible as well.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:31 PM

You know what the world needs more of?

    Robert Guillaum

    ReplyDelete
  127. Yes, the random shoots for no reason were annoying. The worst was Russo sitting down and talking about John Rocker. First of all, he was a heel and secondly, it made no sense to being with.

    ReplyDelete
  128. ...that's not what you are supposed to do with them.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:31 PM

    That's his O face

    ReplyDelete
  130. I didn't start him for my 3rd league. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  131. New Android commercial.

    ReplyDelete
  132. ...tell me more...

    ReplyDelete
  133. *sigh* Jets might as well tank the season and draft Winston. It seems like a perfect fit.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:32 PM

Kevin Nash went to eat a little Korean

    ReplyDelete
  135. It was terrible from the beginning. I think people were just happy they were trying something different.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I only watched early 90s WCW when I happened to run across it on tv. It was so meh. Once Flair bounced there was no reason to watch

    ReplyDelete
  137. I was there for that match! (It's why I'm reaaaaally hoping the Austin at Mania rumors aren't true, I can't say I saw his last match if that happens!)

    ReplyDelete
  138. The flip side of that is calling your parents by their first name when you realize they're kind of shit.

    ReplyDelete
  139. I'm a Jets fan and can see this coming a mile away.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Fans seem hot for Sting. Trying to watch all the Havocs before Halloween.

    ReplyDelete
  141. I know one of the funniest things I have EVER seen on wrestling is Bret wearing the steel plate against Goldberg.

    ReplyDelete
  142. They should tank. They should not draft Winston.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Not a Hall of Famer.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Kevin is smarter than that, honestly. He's just going to be hungry again in an hour.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:33 PM

    I've known people like that

    ReplyDelete
  146. I'm exhausted by that conversation lol.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Jets defenders were so far away from Vereen they would have .... I don't know something about sending him a postcard would have gotten there sooner.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Wanted to root for a team more painful than the Browns?

    ReplyDelete
  149. I completely agree. Russo seriously shouldn't be let near a high school back yard wrestling club much less a promotion thats on tv.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Kind of funny that Nash seems to allude to the "fact" that he was with most of the girls in WCW (Chae, Torrie, Madusa, etc)... and the fact that he introduced Whisper to Shawn Michaels...

    ESKIMO BROTHERS!

    ReplyDelete
  151. me too. i just want no part of winston. i'd rather them draft and develop o-lineman and playmakers before drafting a QB, especially winston.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Yeah I'd definitely have to use that qualifier, there's too many podcasts out there, Rogan, Burr and Dan Carlin all do stuff I'd put over Stone Cold for general entertainment.

For wrestling though, for sure Austin's is the best.

    ReplyDelete
  153. But they should hire Rob Ryan as DC.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Why doesn't a team like the Jags or Rams bring in Tebow? Sure he isn't an ideal NFL QB, but at least he'd sell tickets and put butts in seats. It's not like the Jags or Rams are actually going to make the playoffs anyways and I'm sure the Jaguards would LOVE the media attention.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Stranger in the AlpsOctober 16, 2014 at 6:35 PM

    Homemade....hot....chicken.....cheesy.....awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  156. His fans are too obnoxious for anyone in the NFL to want to deal with.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Stranger in the AlpsOctober 16, 2014 at 6:35 PM

It is if they're fucking good.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Been a Jets fan since I was really young.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Austin Davis has actually been pretty solid for the Rams. And the Jags just drafted their QB of the future, so...

    ReplyDelete
  160. The Rams are trying to be a legitimate NFL team, they just fail at it.

I have no idea why the Jags didn't just pick him and try to tank

    ReplyDelete
  161. How many people in popular culture can you think of that were worse for their genre at worse at what they did than Vince Russo?

    ReplyDelete
  162. I'm assuming he had a rough childhood and desperately needed a mother and father figure. It was weirder that Sandra and Elvin were two doctors that couldn't support themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  163. I'm sorry. I root for the Jets since I get them every week but....man

    ReplyDelete
  164. Jags would have been a perfect fit. Tebow is a Florida legend. Bucs too, while we're at it. I'm pissed he's not even in Madden to pick up and mold.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:36 PM

    Wanda Sykes?

    ReplyDelete
  166. Stranger in the AlpsOctober 16, 2014 at 6:36 PM

    Vanilla Ice.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Holy BALLS, I'd totally forgotten about the Ric Flair interview segment where he chewed out Carlito for having no heart. That interview was fucking BRILLIANT, and is everything the business lacks now.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Tony Romo, Ryan Seacrest, Maggle Cole, All the guys from Nickleback

We live in a fail upward society, there's a million picks.

    ReplyDelete
  169. I have NE's DEF, so Jets this close to end zone is troublesome.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Nothing was more awesome than a motivated Bret. He actually had to get approval from Hulk to run that angle. That explains a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Adam "Colorado" CurryOctober 16, 2014 at 6:37 PM

    Reagan was worse, but yeah.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Gunther the Nasty LoserOctober 16, 2014 at 6:37 PM

That's actually not uncommon when you're starting out. Docs have to pay their dues, so to speak.

And about Elvin's folks: we saw his folks. They were loving. Maybe Cos was writing some high level shit we didn't pick up on

    ReplyDelete
  173. Don't worry, they'll just Jet it up soon.
