On seeing the Performance Center...
"No, this is something that when I first saw it, it blew my mind. I heard they went and looked at the New York Giants facility to see what the standard is for professional athletes, and I feel like the Performance Center far exceeds that."
On new talent coming in...
"There's a wide variety of talent there, from former professional athletes to actors to independent wrestlers... They're people that can perform. It's something special I saw at the Performance Center."
On Kenta & Prince Devitt's integration into WWE...
"Kenta would have English class every day to help with his English. Fergal had apparently never driven a car before, so he would have driving classes. WWE was right there to help anyone who wanted to take a college course to help them with their WWE product, WWE was a very helpful company. Phenomenal."
Nick goes into what his role on the training team was, the evolution of the Performance Center, talents to watch out for, why he was a good hire in 2013, and his thoughts on his release from WWE last week. He discusses his next moves, where you can find him, and even goes into his work on Ring Ka King in India. A fun interview with Nick Dinsmore, we hope you check it out!

Rob McCarron
I don't see Punk wasting his time.
ReplyDeleteLots of junks posts today, myself included.
ReplyDeleteIt's part of the new BoD "Junky Thursday Throwdown" theme
ReplyDeleteI am 99.9% sure they would make an offer an 100% sure that Punk would refuse. And it does no good for TNA to admit that Punk turned them down.
ReplyDeleteBut they offer anyone the WWE gets rid of a deal.
TJ: RIP Jan Hooks
ReplyDeletehttp://www.tmz.com/2014/10/09/jan-hooks-dead-dies-snl/
I don't see TNA bothering, dude's proved himself nothing but a whining locker room cancer that nothing will ever be good enough for. Punk's quit twice just in the time it took you to read this post.
ReplyDeleteIt's got a good beat, and I can dance to it.
ReplyDeleteThey need a star desperately and need to find a TV deal soon too so them reaching out to Punk makes sense to me
ReplyDeleteTwo non-stories.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm just kidding, but seriously he's a douche.
ReplyDeletePunk's too busy watching hockey to even know this story is taking place.
ReplyDeleteYou never know what time of first impressions Punk will bring.
ReplyDelete"all of them scoffed at the idea Punk would ever want to return to wrestling, much less for TNA. "
ReplyDeleteThey got this right, at least.
Hey look, a gruntled former employee. How refreshing.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I thought of was the black female officer from Police Academy. She was cool.
ReplyDeleteWell lots of people were dying to know if Jackson was banned from SSW.
ReplyDeletePunk could move the needle there if they had a half decent roster to surround him with.
ReplyDeleteHey, not every day can be 5 stars.
ReplyDeleteThat is the thing. Meltzer's original report was that through an intermediary TNA made an offer to Punk that was shot down and that was it but Johnson, claiming he had not read what Meltzer was reporting, went ahead and called "TNA high-level sources" and said the story was false. Johnson seems full of shit about not knowing whether or not Meltzer reported this and this more of the insecurity and jealously that PWInsider has against Meltzer and Keller.
ReplyDeleteI like Rob McCarron.
ReplyDeleteOh, so it's actually more about a petty beef between two wrestling "reporters" than it is about Punk?
ReplyDeleteTill she yelled at you.
ReplyDeleteThen DAYUM
I'd like to see a video montage of this "scoffing"
ReplyDeleteIt may have turned into that.
ReplyDeleteStill cool.
ReplyDeleteI SAID, STILL COOL!! NOW SIT YO' BUTT DOWN BEFORE I MAKE YOU SIT IT DOWN!!!!
ReplyDelete"Is Punk signing with TNA?" and "Punk at OVW" both sound like headlines from a decade ago.
ReplyDeleteTNA has lied about basically everything they ever did. Why would they own up to Punk snubbing them? They lied about the TV deal, they lie about attendance data, like Bayless said they lied about Russo, they lied about Spikes reaction to Russo. All of a sudden they decided to shoot straight with Mike Johnson? Gtfoh
ReplyDeleteAnd it gets better as Johnson reportedly stole the Punk/OVW stuff he reported from this site:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.voicesofwrestling.com/2014/10/06/cm-punk-was-backstage-at-a-wrestling-show-this-weekend-thats-the-entire-story/
Looks that way.
ReplyDeleteI think the PWInsider report was yes.
ReplyDeleteI'm always shocked how many shitty wrestling newz sites exist, it's hard to imagine that people thought there were too many in 1998.
ReplyDeleteWhy, PWInsider takes a harsh stance against theft!
ReplyDelete"“Trailer Park Trash was not in the Davis Arena that night."
ReplyDeleteI doubt that.
Poor Jan Hooks though. She was awesome on SNL
ReplyDeleteShe's from one of the eras that I consider "my" era, that late '80's to mid '90's time frame.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bunch of scum bags.
ReplyDeleteDIRT SHEET WARZZZZZZ
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't even care except that Johnson is totally trying to thumb his nose at Meltzer. He called TNA and ripped off another website. Wow what a reporter!!!!
ReplyDeleteNow, that is sad. She was basically the female version of Phil Hartman in how she would could blend in playing any character but also still be herself at the same time. Now, people will disagree, but in my opinion, Hooks and Oteri were the funniest females to be regulars on SNL.
ReplyDeleteTake *that*, Kristen Wiig!
ReplyDeleteUltimately, does it matter?
ReplyDeleteIt's totally the kind of tonedeaf thing TNA WOULD do and if they did, there isn't a chance Punk would sign, so...
Start with the clip from the championship ceremony when he scoffed at Steph talking up Hunter
ReplyDeleteAND they bogarted the last conference call with HHH. By the time they got done asking their questions (and they weren't supposed to ask more than 2), Scherer and Johnson had taken up half the conference call. I kept on thinking, "Will that dogfucker please shut the fuck up?"
ReplyDeleteThey're assholes and they're not very bright, either. I haven't clicked on a website of theirs in many, many years.
Eh, they'd be stupid not to. Yet at the same time silly thinking he'd go there. Unless they wanted to give him some type of Jarret type creative control
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteIf Sting, Hogan and Flair couldn't make anything sustainable happen, a guy who's a smaller star than all of them certainly couldn't.
That poor dog.
ReplyDeleteThey could offer him the whole damn company and he'd decline. Mainly because he seems to be smart with his money.
ReplyDeleteJeff Hardy was basically the hottest babyface in wrestling when he jumped and Angle went in the prime of his career and neither guy moved the needle.
ReplyDeleteWiig is funny in the right situations, but I feel like she's more than a little overrated.
ReplyDeleteAnd he's been open about the fact that he loathed his time in TNA and would rather chop his balls off than go back.
ReplyDeleteIf a big part of the motivation for Punk leaving WWE was because he wouldn't settle for anything less than a headlining spot at WrestleMania, I'm pretty sure it's safe to infer he's not interested in going to TNA...
ReplyDeleteI remember her mainly from being one of the peeps on the 1st Joe Schmo Show
ReplyDeleteThis, too. The idea of "(x) could totally turn the company around if they had (y)" is the definition of delusional TNA fan thinking.
ReplyDeleteThis, times a million.
ReplyDeleteNow if they offered him the Knockout division as his personal harem... he might think about it for fifteen seconds.
ReplyDeleteNah, he'd still tell them to crawl back into their mother's wombs, curl up, and die.
Needs to get his boy that third house.
ReplyDeleteOf course, 100% of nothing is still worthless, just guessing the one possible thing that MIGHT make him not laugh and/or tell them to fuck themselves is the book
ReplyDeleteThe last week has been incredibly awful. It wasn't just today.
ReplyDeleteTNA probably made Punk an offer b/c why the hell not? He's popular and available. They also denied because what's in it for them to say "yeah, we offered him a lot of money and he said no."
ReplyDeleteTotal non-issue
Punk is a bigger star in 2014 than any of them. Nobody gives about those 3 now.
ReplyDeletePretty much this. With the newz sites starting a pissing contest over it
ReplyDeleteI don't think if TNA signed Cena and Bryan it would move the needle. They have issues way beyond the talent on the roster (although currently that's bad too).
ReplyDeleteNo shit? I watched that show. I watched about the first five episodes of the latest one, too, but I missed one episode and just couldn't find time to catch up. I love the concept of that show.
ReplyDeleteHer appearances on 30 Rock as Jenna's mom were totally reeking with awesomeness
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely.
ReplyDeleteLorne said she was the best castmember ever, which is bogus, but she dominated the show her last few years that it was hard to watch her trot out the same tired routine.
Which is why I've said time and time again their death does NOT have to be a bad thing for wrestling. It can be, but unlike WCW there's at least a fair chance somebody will sift through the ashes, pick up whatever's not broken/fucked beyond any credibility, and try to not be WCW 3.0/TNA 2.0.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. TNA going away opens the door for an actually #2.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how wmxymcneal (or however he spells it) feels about this. The guy basically has a doctorate in SNL studies.
ReplyDeleteSlow week in the world of wrestling. Slow month, actually.
ReplyDeleteAgain: LOL
ReplyDeleteCompletely agreed. If there's one thing anyone should be able to see about TNA, it's that the company is poisoned at the root. They're never going to "turn the corner."
ReplyDeleteI think the dirt sheet battle part of this is more the story. So that really means the actual punk story is worthless IMO.
ReplyDeleteSHEETZ WARZ
ReplyDeleteIs it the 90s again?
ReplyDeleteAccording to Mike Johnson's haircut, yes
ReplyDeleteThis feels exactly like all that shit back then.
ReplyDeletehttp://kotaku.com/nba-2k15-players-report-widespread-problems-lost-progr-1644506972
ReplyDeleteAlso, be careful jobber.
They have no clue how to market their product, so you would forget or not even be aware that they were in the promotion.
ReplyDeleteBest be nice, now. They will say your name on Twitter, thus exposing your shenanigans to the entire world!
ReplyDeleteIf you actually think people would rather watch those 3 than Punk....yikes.
ReplyDeleteTo me, TNA would be fine as #3 wrestling company like ECW was or like I felt GWF was as a little kid. But as you're #1 North American alternative no way. I'd say cmll or NJPW is #2 just by default.
ReplyDeleteThey could put your real info on Facebook too, which people have accused them of doing to.
ReplyDeleteOh that sucks. Fortunately I'm playing association mode, not the my team mode but I'll be on the look out. I'd be so pissed if I lost all the shit I've done and unlocked!
ReplyDeleteSo pwinsider is the Comcast of wrestling newz sites?
ReplyDeleteBrother, think about what you're saying. It's fine that you would rather watch Punk than them. So would I and I hate Punk.
ReplyDeleteThat, in no way, means that he is a bigger star than one of the greatest pro wrestlers of the past 50 years, the man who defined one of the Big Two during the most profitable era of pro wrestling or one of the only stars the industry ever created who became bigger than wrestling itself. To argue otherwise is insanity.
The current TNA roster is most definitely half decent.
ReplyDeleteScherer put my name and hometown on Twitter when he said I "pirated" from his Elite section. Because that is what good business owners and sane people do.
ReplyDeleteWe've debated this before, but I think TNA going away shuts the door on there being a #2 for good. TNA gets decent ratings by upper-cable channel standards, if nobody wants to keep them on TV, things look bleak for anyone else
ReplyDeletePWInsider has to be hurting financially to rely on stunts like this in order to get people to subscribe. Too bad it doesn't work that way.
ReplyDeleteC'mon now. TNA is awful right now but there are still way bigger in North America than either of those two promotions,
ReplyDeleteIn North America, CMLL does much better business than TNA.
ReplyDeleteThat's really shitty. Do you know about the Comcast thing?
ReplyDeleteAny interesting features they've added to this mode or other modes? I really dug how they'd add a lot of roleplaying elements to it, be it press conferences, monitoring twitter, people getting pissed about their playing time, etc.
ReplyDelete"TNA high-level sources"
ReplyDeleteSo Taz and Dreamer
Nah, but I have to use them. What did they do?
ReplyDeleteJust because they run a half decent spot show on a border town doesn't make them bigger than a tv show that gets a million viewers a week.
ReplyDeleteCall me insane, too, then. Punk carries with him a cult following of fans and a PASSIONATE following of fans. People who watched the other legends don't have nearly the same enthusiasm, fervor, and loyalty than Punk fans. Therefore, Punk would move the needle more than anyone, in my opinion, because there are a lot more people who CURRENTLY feel a close kinship and loyalty to the guy.
ReplyDeleteThey do enough business in Mexico and those guys tour Japan too and can get work so they are known Internationally. TNA does have some Int'l TV deals too but those two Mexican promotions have TV deals as well.
ReplyDeleteAnd financially, they make more. They also treat their wrestlers like shit but TripleMania is a huge show and the Ultimo Guerrero/Atlantis Mask vs. Mask was a huge show too
Some guy was repeatedly being charged for equipment/services he didn't have. They kept over-charging him and sent him to collections. He angrily called their customer services, Comcast turns around and gets the guy fired from his job.
ReplyDeletehttp://consumerist.com/2014/10/06/unhappy-customer-comcast-told-my-employer-about-complaint-got-me-fired/
I know my post said NA but I meant just America.
ReplyDeleteOh wow.
ReplyDeleteThe guy's employer sucks for firing him too.
Well in the US, yeah.
ReplyDeleteI definitely get that, but all those kids and girls (and smarks like me) who loved Hardy in 09 didn't watch TNA when he showed up. Same with Kurt Angle. I do think punk is bigger, but those two guys didn't add any ratings at all.
ReplyDeleteThe argument is that today, right now, more people would want to watch Punk than would want to watch Hulk/Flair/Sting. Punk could announce he's doing a guest spot on the Big Bang Theory and I'd probably check it out, even though I hate that show. Hulk Hogan could call me up personally and offer to deliver me a free pizza, and I wouldn't care. And I LOVE pizza.
ReplyDeleteThat's so so so disgusting.
ReplyDeleteThe team morale stuff is in association mode is even more developed, but now you can even play a mode where you (it actually can take your face) are the player getting all the spot light. It looks super involved but I haven't checked that out yet.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I doubt he'd move the needle that much. But outside of Cena, he would move the needle more than anyone else right now.
ReplyDeletePunk is a weird case, because his most passionate fans seem to be really attached to him. They identify with Punk, he's "their guy." I doubt even the most die-hard Jeff Hardy fans really identify with him - if they did, they'd probably be too strung out to know how to even change the channel to TNA.
ReplyDeleteI like opiates.
ReplyDeleteNick is far from disgruntled.
ReplyDelete
