Ring of Honor Announces Toy Licensing Deal

Ring of Honor Announces Toy Licensing Deal

Baltimore, MD (October 28, 2014) – Ring of Honor Wrestling® (ROH) and Figures Toy Company today announced a licensing agreement to develop, market and manufacture a line of collectible figures and accessories based on the wrestlers and world of Ring of Honor Wrestling.

For the first time ever, Ring of Honor fans will be able to collect their favorite ROH wrestlers while younger fans can relive classic ROH matches and moments with some of ROH's most popular stars now available in toy form.  This will include a "throwback" line of figures as well as replica title belts.

"There's been an overwhelming demand for a line of Ring of Honor figures and collectibles," states Ring of Honor Chief Operating Officer Joe Koff.  "Figures Toy Company has exceptional expertise in developing high quality goods.  It's really a fabulous opportunity for Ring of Honor and its fans."

Ring of Honor will reveal the ROH Series 1 line of figures exclusively at: www.ROHwrestling.com shortly.

What the world wants to know is if:

a)  Any of these ROH figures will get poached by the WWE's developmental toy system?

b)  The throwback line includes a Rob Feinstein figure that will be barred from getting within 100 feet of your child's dolls?

Other than that, good for them.

  1. Kids know what ROH is?

  3. Can't wait go get my generic vanilla midget no-selling flippy-flopper figure!

  4. Well, why not. Can't be any worse than the first LJN Andre the Giant figure:

My cousin had him when we were younger and we had no idea what wrestler he was supposed to be for years.

  5. I might get an RD Evans figure.

    "your child's dolls"

    *Action figures

  8. Who's going to buy them? The WWE Jakks line was successful, but the TNA Jakks line, not so much.

  9. Who paint their face and give 20 minute reviews of pay per views on youtube?

The Bryan Danielson figure will have an awesome tag line:

    "He has till 5!"

  11. I really enjoyed Raw. The Orton/Rollins feud is intriguing. Mizdow continues to entertain. Cena vs Rollins was ppv quality (despite a shit ending). Ziggler vs Kane was good, and Ziggler is seemingly getting elevated to being part of The Authority feud. They finally pulled the trigger on Mark Henry's heel turn. Even popped for Ryback's face (re)turn. Also, nothing pissed me off or drained the excitement out of me. Good show!

  12. They should sell for $9.99!

  13. I'm guessing they'll be selling these specifically to the collector's market, and at a slightly higher price point. They'll probably do fine over Ringside Collectibles.

  15. I'm curious what format these are gonna take. Figures Toy Company specializes in Mego revival figures these days, which wouldn't make sense for these. I wonder if they have the capability to make Mattel WWE-style figures.
Not much interest in these, though, beyond being curious how well-made they'll be. I'd rather have Shimmer stuff - they'd go well with my already glammed out toy collection (She-Ra and Sailor Moon), and you'd actually have wrestlers with some visual flair.

I thought that toy set that Scott posted a picture of about two weeks ago
    WAS the ROH playset.

  18. I was big into ROH in 05-06 when Danielson/Homicide/Aries were on top. Fell out of it, but happened to catch their show this week. Jay Briscoe vs. Michael Bennett was a damn good match, but somehow it looks more low-rent and minor league than it did when I was watching 8 years ago. JR always harps on the podcast how they need to light their show better, he's very right.

  19. A couple months ago I discovered RoH is on one of my cable channels, Sunday nights at like 2 am.

    Never watch it.

  20. I would buy Shimmer toys, specially a Kana or Portia Perez one

    ReplyDelete
  21. Who is Bryan Danielson?

    ReplyDelete
  22. It's fine most of the time.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Does anyone actually watch these (except, of course, the ones where the guy goes crazy over CM Punk losing to Rocky)? I see a ton of these for UFC shows...just some guy wearing a track suit and a backwards hat.

    ReplyDelete
  24. As a big ROH fan, I totally agree. The lighting is awful. The tapings are kinda weird, too, because they'll tape like 4 weeks of TV at one time and the crowd totally burns out and leaves during the show. It's not a great system, but at least they have people paying to show up to them.

    ReplyDelete
  25. It's been pretty good lately. They had a few weeks of shows that were just insane...Young Bucks v RedDragon and stuff. But some people care more about production value than the actual wrestling.

    From who?

  27. Good review, Matt.

I guess I'll be contrary, though, and say that I like AndyPG's reviews better. Odd as it may seem, when I choose to read about wrestling shows, I don't mind reading as much as I can about wrestling shows.

...but, props to Matt here...as I got the general flow of the show and some good laughs, too! Maybe I'll start reading your Main Event recaps in the future (although, you're right...nobody fucking cares about that show.)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, Main Event is hit and miss. Lately, it's been ROLLINSWINSLOL as they feed him Heath Slater, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, et al.

Glad you got some laughs. :)

  29. I don't get ROH here in California. Are the Young Bucks doing stuff in ROH? I'd totally buy a Young Bucks 2 pack just because.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Kids, go buy your Jay Briscoe figures, it includes homophobic lines.

    ReplyDelete
  31. They were the tag champs for awhile this year.

    ReplyDelete
  32. And you can get MORE homophobia with the AJ Styles figure!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I wonder if these will be as awful as the old ECW toyline.

  38. These seem fine, but I just told The Lady Amanda™ that I am starting a Slam City collection. StretchMove!

    Eyes have rolled...

  39. Punk owns his name. RoH could make some serious cash with a line of classic Punk figures depending on his agreements with Vince. Even if he gets some insane percentage of the profit it could be worth doing.

Sorry to ruin your undeserved bile, but she's already got a job.

    Shithead.

    ReplyDelete
  41. That'd be a valid argument but Rollins still loses the match via DQ, so in reality, they don't always win. They always lose.

    ReplyDelete
  42. dammit...I'll bite. COULDN'T care less!
