Turn Of The Century Top Star

Your girl Steph said the following about Vince letting her and HHHHHH date initially,

" It was a really big thing in our business for the top star to be dating the boss' daughter and all of the implications it could have.""

That's insane right? They started dating in 99' or 00' when Austin and Rock were still around. HHH was not the top star. Is she mental?

Well he was certainly A top star, probably a solid #3 behind the two real ones, maybe #4 if you count Undertaker.  But he who bangs the boss's daughter gets to create the history books, no?

Comments

  1. To be fair he was kind of the centerpiece of the shows at that exact moment, Austin was injured and Rock was taking a backseat to kill time to Mania.

  2. I find it a little ridiculous people care what Stephanie says in a throw away line on a bullshit radio interview. Like, do we really need to analyze this one? Who gives a shit?

  3. Also, no, that's not when they started dating. Oh, but I know! You saw it on the teevee!

  4. Agreed. And while HHH wasn't THE top star, the basic point behind what she's saying is still accurate.

  5. Funny thing is even Triple H acknowledges on Jericho's podcast that he turned heel in 1999 because he knew he couldn't become the top face with Austin and The Rock ahead of him.

  6. The craziest part of that interview is her admitting the business is down, not the sex talk,

Today, it'd be easier getting her to talk about anal than to talk about down the business is.

  7. Let it go, man. He won. It's over. It's been over for a long time.

Don't worry, you'll always have your fanfic where Stephanie catches HHH with one of the divas, divorces him, marries Jericho, and present day HHH is main eventing at whatever minor league ballpark TNA is running.

  8. Randy Orton is a top star, is he THE top star? No, but he's a top star.

    Where's the controversy?

  9. But that also makes it reasonable enough- when they "did" start dating, officially, it was in 2000 where Triple H was the top heel in the company- so it's not "too" unfair to claim "top star".

  10. Well I will say

He was given the ball and was AMAZING. Too bad the quad injury happened. Still has had some great moments outside 2000 though.

Maybe he got his position because he's the bosses son, but it's up to him as to what to do with it. So far he strikes me as a hard worker, and obviously shown with the Warrior and Bruno situations that he can be a great negotiator.

    Larry Zbyszko.

    Oh, you were being rhetorical?

  12. Did a young CM Punk roll his eyes and laugh in the background as she said that?

  13. She said 'the'.

  14. What? She referred to her husband as the top star? She must be MENTAL, or... just not getting hung up on pedantics.

  15. What bothered me about this story was how Chyna was completely erased from the story.

  16. I'd imagine Scott must have gotten plenty of other emails yesterday more worthy of a post than this one.

  17. Whether he was or not (wasn't. Not even a question), it's funny how these retrospectives treat him like he was Jesus, Hogan and Austin all in one. Literally nothing in wrestling changed due to him. He was the definition B+ guy.

  18. This seems like a waste of space on the blog, but maybe it's just me.

  19. Fanboys need to realize that now that Triple H and his wife run the company Triple H's role in wrestling history in the 1990s and early 2000s will indefinitely be emphasized. We have already seen it with the numerous documentaries that give the lion's share of the credit of the Attitude Era to the Triple H-led DX.

With that said, Triple H was the top heel in the company in 2000 when they started dating, so I don't really see a problem with Stephanie's words.
