Debut to Champion

The CM Punk and Miz ones had me dying laughing.  This was great stuff.

  1. Brazil gets all the good tournaments.

  2. Hey, fuck your couch buddy! The WWE Ladies Tag Championships were settled in a tournament in Egypt, and there are no more prestigious titles in wrestling history than those!

    ReplyDelete
  3. ...OCD kicked in on Punk's and spent too much time trying to Beautiful Mind it for the words the sticky left showing. Wish I could see an end game for Mizdow where he's elevated back to a real life wrestler instead of curtain jerker comedy act of the day.

  4. Is the Rock's on wrong, it claims he debuted March 10 1996, but as far as I can remember his debut was at that years Survivor Series about 6 months later.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I liked how the big show one started:

    "Well..."

    ReplyDelete
  6. I had zero idea that Rey won the belt in 2011

    ReplyDelete
  7. Really?

He won it on Raw the day after CM Punk "walked out" during the Summer of Punk.

He lost it to John Cena literally 80 minutes later.

    ReplyDelete
  8. This article here says he made his ring debut in a dark match that day against the Brawler. But I don't know if that should really count. http://whatculture.com/wwe/10-things-dont-know-wwe-1996.php

    ReplyDelete
  9. Interesting that they include one-off debuts for guys like Flair, Hardy, and Orton, but ignore early jobber debuts by Foley and Bryan. That makes both of their times from debut to champion considerably longer.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I also enjoyed the potshot at Hogan in the Yoko entry.

The Andre the Giant one was pretty funny, too.

Brock Lesnar's entry was sponsored by Jimmy Johns? Bwa ha ha ha ha ha

  13. The Punk one was the best.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I've never seen a picture of Stan Stasiak before. He looks like a bad guy from a Guy Ritchie movie.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Nice little cameo by Christian there.

    ReplyDelete
  16. "Lost it in a fantastic match 80 minutes later."

    Fixed.

    ReplyDelete
  17. "Lost it in a fantastic match 80 minutes later."

...that should have headlined Summerslam 2011.

    Double Fixed.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ok I legit laughed out loud at the Miz profile, very amusing.

    ReplyDelete
  19. This is why peer review is a good thing.

  20. TJ: WWE.com has a Hell of a piece on the 'future' of the WWE, and realistically speaking they hit on 9 out of the 10 (not really sold of Corbin like they are). It's a damn good read.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yeah, this is one I've changed my mind about. I always thought it was silly to think anything but Punk/Cena should have headlined that Summerslam. But Rey still had enough value at that time that Rey/Cena had some juice as a never-before-seen dream match.

Then Punk could've made his return with the real title at the conclusion of their Summerslam match.

  22. "The champ was finally here and has refused to leave ever since."

    ReplyDelete
  23. It was the next week, wasn't it? Because I thought Punk came back (I mean, "back" inasmuch as he was gone for eight whole days) at the conclusion of that match.

    ReplyDelete
  24. "In typical fashion Hogan would show up, demand a title shot, get it, and win."

    ReplyDelete
  25. If Flair debuted in 1996, why isn't Do let's debut his 1985 squash with the Bulldogs.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oh, what a nice little thing there.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The debut dates are all very off. They list some guy's TV debuts (Cena on SD, Punk on Heat as a jobber) yet fail to list other guys TV debuts (Angle, Daniel Bryan on Velocity in 2003)

    ReplyDelete
  28. I was in Afghanistan in 2011 so I basically missed the entire year of wrestling : /

    ReplyDelete
  29. With Mallet and Blue starting for Houston, I really dont see how the Browns can blow this one. But, they are the Browns

    ReplyDelete
  30. It's crazy to think that if Cleveland didn't lost to the Jags, they'd be 7-2.

    ReplyDelete
  31. The also say Sheamus debuted on SD in 2008 when he debuted in ECW in 2009.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm home alone all day. I'm gonna dvr up the football games so I don't have to see any commercials and watch the 2008 survivor series.

Which three WR to start???? Answer if ya follow them, not by name value. Jeremy Maclin, Odell Beckham Jr., Roddy White, Martavis Bryant, and Jordan Matthews. I'm leaning toward Beckham, Bryant, and Matthews.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Maclin, Beckham, and Bryant.

    ReplyDelete
  37. White, Beckham, Maclin

didn't Cleveland drop a 1-3 point game in Week 1?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Sanchez wins ONE game... Erin Andrews makes "fuck me" eyes at him.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'd definitely start Maclin.

  41. "Their Wrestlemania III match in front of forty septillion Hulkamaniacs, during which Hogan bodyslammed the five ton giant..."

    Outstanding.

I wonder what Benoit's would have been like had he held the WWE title

    ReplyDelete

    That's what she said

    ReplyDelete
  45. Gunther the Nasty LoserNovember 16, 2014 at 11:31 AM

And the Kid wouldn't go to any of them unless they were for PWG or something out of Japan

    ReplyDelete
  46. Rumors on the dirtsheets said that when the title was held by Abeyance between WM20 and Summerslam 2004, it was really Benoit under the mask.

I would totally mark out if big head/tiny body Magnus was pictured

  48. CruelConnectionNumber2November 16, 2014 at 12:02 PM

Vince's debut is wrong. Bell never rang. No match. Bryan wrestled on TV before 2010.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Im thinking he means Foley...

    ReplyDelete
  50. CruelConnectionNumber2November 16, 2014 at 12:04 PM

Because Ric Flair was promoted as a star in 1976. Foley wasn't.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yeah, he even won matches with his dreaded Vertical Suplex. :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. What about Brian Kendrick???

    ReplyDelete
  53. but Hardy is listed as 94 when he was nothing more than an enhancement talent. Little bit of inconsistency there.

    ReplyDelete
  54. "Come back Batista. We promise not to boo this time."
    Seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  55. GODDAMN AUTOCORRECT ON MY PHONE.

    yes I meant Foley.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yeah. It would have been 80 minutes later, but the beginnings of "COO HHH replaces Vince" pushed it back a week.

So not only did the Summer of Punk get sabotaged, but the beginnings of the Authority were planted there also. UBER FAIL. ALL THE FAIL.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I spoke with OP of this and he admits that there's plenty of inconsistencies in part of laziness and overlooking due to the amount of work he put into it. He has angle debuting in April of 99 when he wasn't on television til survivor series of that year

    ReplyDelete
  58. Interesting that they acknowledged that Kane was Dr. Isaac Yankem and "Diesel" before becoming Kane.

  59. Adam "Colorado" CurryNovember 16, 2014 at 3:40 PM

I didn't even notice he was missing until I saw your post.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Adam "Colorado" CurryNovember 16, 2014 at 3:41 PM

Foley was in the WWF in 1985? Never knew that.

    ReplyDelete
  61. CruelConnectionNumber2November 16, 2014 at 3:50 PM

    That wasn't done by WWE.

    ReplyDelete
  62. CruelConnectionNumber2November 16, 2014 at 3:50 PM

Not missing, this is for the WWE strap not the Big Gold.

    ReplyDelete
  63. CruelConnectionNumber2November 16, 2014 at 4:07 PM

Do you mean The Brian Kendrick?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Technically Angle did debut on Heat in April 99.as part of an angle with Tiger Ali Singh.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Did I miss something? Are we talking about the guy who teamed with Paul London, right? This whole joke was way over my head beginning with the imgur gif. What's the joke here?

    ReplyDelete
  66. ? Who was Abeyance? And why does my tablet have Beyonce as an autocorrect?

    ReplyDelete
  67. That's ok. Very few things in life are consistent.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Which one was the Punk one? Dude am I seeing the same link you guys are?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ez5YQUWPP7Y

    ReplyDelete
  70. Kendrick "held" the title during a Championship Scramble match.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Maybe because they called him Nick Foley, it doesn't count?

    :)

(I know he did other matches also.)

    ReplyDelete
  72. ... wrong match. But still wrong name, also.

    ReplyDelete
  73. To clarify: The tournament started the night after, Vince postponed the finals to fire Cena (but got fired by HHH).

Rey beat Miz the next week, then Cena got a shot that night and won it back. Punk showed up after with the real title.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Might just have a blank screen with the words "Edited for content" written in front

    ReplyDelete
  75. CruelConnectionNumber2November 16, 2014 at 7:54 PM

"The Brian Kendrick - Current WWE Champion" was once an on-screen graphic during a WWE Title Match.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I have an idea...I'll show you (you'll see)...

    ReplyDelete
  77. Kanye West programmed it?

    ReplyDelete
  78. The profile that said "CM Punk"

    ReplyDelete
  79. I personally enjoy that, for all intents and purposes, Brazil was apparently this magical place where things happened and you couldn't verify facts. It might as well have been Parts Unknown

    ReplyDelete
  80. Adam "Colorado" CurryNovember 17, 2014 at 12:58 AM

He never won the WWE title?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Wouldn't that be the kardashian chick? I'm likely to believe jay-z programmed it ( though he doesn't get autocorrected)

    ReplyDelete
  82. I didn't see one is why I'm asking.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Man, I realise the pics have been... kind... but I still really prefer the beefy Buddy Rogers/ Bruno/Pedro body types. They just looked more like guys that could take a chair to the head. The current 'athlete' bodies look too high performance/ low reliability. Kinda what is playing out behind the scenes.

    ReplyDelete
  84. When did this happen

    ReplyDelete
  85. You can find it on youtube. Angle was playing a fan in the front row with Karen and tiger tried to buy him off to spit on the American flag

    ReplyDelete
  86. Nope, Benoit was World champion while Eddie (and then JBL) was WWE Champion.
