  1. Isn't that what Phi is, the golden ratio?

    ReplyDelete
  2. Yes. But you had a typo. It's 1.618

    ReplyDelete
  3. The ending wasn't terrible from a development perspective but that was the lamest heel beat down - face saves routine in some time. Didn't flow at all and looked stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I couldn't remember what it was offhand

    ReplyDelete
  5. Show being in the match makes sense.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Oh, I'm well aware it does. It makes perfect sense. Doesn't mean I have to like it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  7. Yea, but it's a dumb thing to complain about, especially if you criticise WWE's booking on a regular basis.

    ReplyDelete
  8. But he has big hands damnit!

    ReplyDelete
  9. That said -- I would see no problem with using this match to make a midcarder get a cup of coffee with the big time. They just chose to do it with Ryback.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I can't be the only one who realized they used a voiceover for Harper right?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Miz launches his side kicks because he's a pretty good heel.

    ReplyDelete
  12. 'Hey,
you know what would've helped this show? If Dean Ambrose and Bray
Wyatt had MATCHES rather than just giving promos via the big screen.
    What a concept, right?'

Thing is, it's guys having matches every single week that turn them stale. Ambrose and Wyatt are being treated as 2 high level guys right now, so I am perfectly fine with them not wrestling every single week.

But this isn't 1998 Nitro... they have like 3 good singles wrestlers.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Virgil's Gimmick TableNovember 10, 2014 at 10:02 PM

    We agree on something!..

That's not good. I better get out of here.

    ReplyDelete
  15. yes sure. they have 3 good singles wrestlers (cue predictable joke of just kidding, its less than 3 lulz)

    ReplyDelete
  16. The point is, though, that Ambrose and Wyatt is their #2 storyline right now, behind the Authority last gasp. It deserves some in-arena time. This made it look like the two men weren't even important enough to bring to Europe, which is sloppy.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Grumpy Cat Raw is the go-home show for Survivor Series. How is WWE going to fill 2.5-3 hours with only these three matches listed on their website: Cena-Authority, Bray-Dean, and AJ-Nikki?

What will fill out this card (and preshow)? The Dust Bros in a random tag match (or they could do an elimination match with Miz(dow) against the Usos/Matadores? Adam Rose vs. the Bunny? Xavier Woods' performance? I'm sure I'm missing several obvious matches, so can someone(s) enlighten me?

As for Raw...the Ryback angle was fine if obvious (even I could see it coming). Surprised Andy didn't like HHH as much this week given his thoughts on last week's show.

Swagger's too busy playing the World Series of Poker main event to be on Team Cena.

Like the Harper addition but am not sure being eliminated in his (re)debut-ish.

Were there fewer plugs for the Network, or have you just tuned them out?

    ReplyDelete
  18. HHH is best in small, focused doses. He seemed to be everywhere this week. It took from him.

Wait, Swagger in the WSOP? Really? He made the November Nine, or is he in another event?

The wrestlers have stopped plugging the Network, but the announcers are picking up the slack.

    ReplyDelete
  19. "Is your name not Scott?"
    "No, it's Justin."
"That's going to be an odd bit confusing. Mind if we call you Scott just to keep things clear?"

    ReplyDelete
  20. I already read spoilers, didn't watch the show, and just came to read Andy's score. Can I ask why you made that specific reference?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Because the show made me so bored I decided to go to my math nerd roots. It was a BAD show.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ah I thought maybe we were in the same fraternity in college possibly.

    ReplyDelete
  23. 2 stars for a 15 minute ryback match seems high.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Guess I'll go track down Rollins vs Swagger and give it a peek

    ReplyDelete
  25. Virgil's Gimmick TableNovember 10, 2014 at 10:35 PM

This is going to be WWE's Great American Bash 1991.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Swagger is sneaky good, and Rollins is of course athletic and a great heel. It worked. Those two I could watch go for 30.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessNovember 10, 2014 at 10:38 PM

The Cena-Authority stop seems like it would lead to Cuba winning and the Authority disbanding. And that would be the logical step. Which means, of course, that #CenaWinsLOL does NOT happen this time. Authority wins.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I've like Ryback ever since he turned heel on cena. I loved his bully gimmick, his crazy twitter shit, etc. Yeah he sucks in the ring but he's like shitty modern wwes shitty modern version of Sid. I'm way down with a Ryback push and I'd take him over Reigns (except of course once the wwe started pushing Ryback they'd fuck him up anyways so really it's all completely pointless anyways.)

    ReplyDelete
  29. It was a bad joke. I think the Dutch guy (Van Hoof) looks a bit like Swagger.

Understandable there were fewer plugs given there is no Network in England.

  32. Hey did they pull a bunch of ECW episodes off the network that were already on there when they uploaded the new stuff? Because I can't find the old episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yeah they totally did. That is so lame.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Id like to thank you for reviewing these shows, even if if been critical of you in the past. RAW in 2014 is a miserable, terrible wrestling program, and the company in general is in a terribly stale state with their two biggest prospects out with an injury and the other just not wrestling because he can only wrestle like 3 times in a fucking year (even tho he is the World Champion of the company, yea.) But yea being that iv been a diehard wrestling fan for 21 years, I still have the urge of needing to know what is going on, and luckily I dont have to sit thru it, so thanks again.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Wow. Never knew. I'll try to remain sane. It just shows that Vince has lost his fastball -- the old WWF would've recovered from this spate of bad luck with Bryan and Reigns instead of going into neutral.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Which ones? I think all the Hardcore TV ones are still there

    ReplyDelete
  37. One of my least favorite Raws ever. Made it through the DVR in about 1 hour flat.

Couldn't care any less about Cena vs. Authority, I'm basically over both Wyatt and Ambrose despite really liking the characters a few months ago. Usually when Raw is bad, one of the top few acts is at least fun to watch but these days...bleh.

You would think they would stack the PPV that they're offering during the free trial but the whole thing is going to be borderline unwatchable.

    When's Brock coming back?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I hope they keep or re-post the one with Shane Douglas giving the biggest speech of his career from 1994. You know the one.

    ReplyDelete
  39. They are missing about 50 episodes they had up originally from 93 and 94. They used to start at 26 and now it starts at 99.

    ReplyDelete
  40. They're still there, you have to specifically click on the years though

    ReplyDelete
  41. Nm. They just re did how I have to search for them on a tablet. Im wrong. They are still there. Just less handy to find on a tablet.

For those who missed it, Kofi being part of the New Day was my favorite part of the night, and legitimately made me laugh.

Cena called HHH a wanker? That's awesome.

  54. Adam "Colorado" CurryNovember 10, 2014 at 11:15 PM

    The fuck was THAT?

    ReplyDelete
  55. This product is just terrible. How can anyone not see it? They have one main storyline, and they cannot even have it make sense. Why is Rusev teaming with Americans? Why is Luke Harper apart of the Authority now? Things just happen for no rhyme or reason. There is no creativity behind anything they do anymore. Instead of building two logical and reasonable teams, they basically took 10 top guys and aligned them accordingly. Mundane booking at its worst.

The reason they only have one main storyline is because nobody is allowed to get over. It doesn't matter how good you are. It doesn't matter how hard you try. It just matters when your name is called upon. So you just sit there and hope for McMahon or HHH to call your name someday. And if anyone gets more over than they should, god forbid, they are taught a lesson. They want the entire midcard to be as interchangeable as possible so they can just shuffle people in and out. They don't care that they have no star-power. They just don't. All they want is power and control even if it spites themselves. And why should a midcarder even try anymore? They'll get punished if they do so. Hence, why every promo and match feels exactly the same. Nobody wants to get in trouble for trying to break out.

Then you have one of the worse announcing teams ever. Michael Cole is too busying asking Lawler and JBL questions during matches, which wouldn't be that bad if they weren't the dumbest questions ever and were answered in the dumbest way ever. The action is never called in the ring. There is never genuine emotion shown by anyone. They are the most humdrum and monotonous announce team in history. Lawler gets paid to make obvious remarks and throw out one-liners. JBL doesn't know if he's heel or face. And Michael Cole is Michael Cole: an over-pushed B-announcer.

I would really feel bad for them if they were really trying this year. But they're not. They're not at all. They haven't changed. Almost everything that has happened to them has been self-inflicted.

But yeah, give Lesnar another 5 million because you refuse to make stars. Give Rock another 10 million to have another shitty WM match. Push Roman Reigns when he comes, even though nobody cares about him. Give John Cena 50 more title reigns. Saddle Dean Ambrose, the hottest thing in the company, back into the midcard. Don't push Cesaro, who could heavily help get the IC title extremely over. And keep telling themselves that they know more than the fans.

This company is making some of the exact same mistakes TNA made, and look where TNA is right now. I'm not saying WWE is going out of business soon. But people need to stop acting like they are immortal. Way bigger businesses than WWE have gone out of business over night.

    A new day!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Is anything on the line for Team Cena, beyond the Authority being super jerky if they win? Bryan and Dave were wondering if Cena would have to put his title shot on the line as a possible way to get out of the Brock rematch.

Is WWE on a run of altered state of mind/thinking gimmicks far more than normal? Wyatt (theoretical cult leader), Adam Rose (hippie?), Bo Dallas (Bo-Lieve), New Day (superficial religious sounding phrases). That brainwashing Paul Heyman was featured on the Network was totally coincidental.

    ReplyDelete
  59. "And I think the biggest issue here is HHH: he doesn't understand that we're not here for him."

Ugh. Shut the fuck up already and learn how to set out paragraphs and segments in a way that's actually readable. The quality of your recaps reflects the quality of the programming.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yeah. I would only give it π/2.

    ReplyDelete
  61. All the best in their future endeavors in four months?

    ReplyDelete
  62. But the smarks told me this wasn't happebing as recently as last week!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I think (hope) that this ends up being the set-up for their heel turn -- they rebel against having to be presented in this type of skit.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I think the brightest spot of the night is the news of having Luke Harper ( who is easily the best in ring worker of the wyatt family) in the main event for Survivor Series. Seems like a surprise push to me.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Did anyone on the show wear a poppy, or is it only American soldiers they give a shit about despite being in England the day before Remembrance?

    ReplyDelete
  66. "Your tears taste amazing"-HHH

    ReplyDelete
  67. One things for certain, Kofi wore the hell out of those white shoes. White Goodman eat your heart out.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Bo Dallas needs to join New Day. Perfect match.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Not to brag but who has two thumbs and called WWE CGIng a smile on grumpy cat yesterday? This guy!

    ReplyDelete
  70. That whole paragraph is ....something.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Your petrock tastes hard.

    ReplyDelete
  72. So..what can we read into the angle that Wyatt gets to look at the camera during his promo while Dean has to do the look to someone off camera like WCW promos in the death rattle days?

Also Vince gets bored and gives up on Bo..but then deciders to repackage every black guy with dreads as quasi gospel preachers so they can take Bo promos and hit find/Replace bolieve/New Day. This will go well.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I wish Americans would stop saying 'wanker' when they come to England. It's not cool or funny, and it's not the most popular insult over here anyway.

I would have marked out if Cena called Trips and Steph 'a pair of c**ts' but that's never going to happen.

    ReplyDelete
  74. They repeatedly only thanked American soldiers "as we celebrate Veteran's Day".

    ReplyDelete
  75. Before god and his father, that was the biggest day of his career easily

    ReplyDelete
  76. Wait, New Day???!! What the fuck happened to SPEED FORCE??!!!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. I don't watch the product anymore. It makes me less mad. I feel better. You may want to try it.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I think Luke Harper attacking Dolph Ziggler is great move..Ziggler has been a horrible IC Champion and only gets cheered because he is booked as a lovable loser ala Zack Ryder....Luke Harper would immediately restore the prestige it had when a world class athlete like The Miz was champion....Ziggler is only on Cenas team because someone on his team has to lose...I hope the WWE sends Dolph home once he loses at Survivor Series and then drops the IC Title to Harper because Dolph Ziggler just doesn't have anything to offer the WWE...Ziggler flops everytime the WWE gives him a shot and that promo last week with HHH was more proof of his inability to succeed, instead he just continues to suck.....

    ReplyDelete
  79. What the hell happens to Dolph. This flippity flopping of team members is confusing me. It's worse than Team WWF-Alliance at SurSer 01.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Meltdown!

Adam Rose and the Bunny are feuding and you've got Miz and his goons. That's at least two storylines!

    ReplyDelete
  81. I'll look past you calling this a meltdown. I'll look past that you've ignored me saying main storylines. But I cannot look past you bringing up two horrible storylines as some sort of rebuttal. A grown man is feuding with a Easter Bunny on TV. Another grown man is impersonating another grown man because he's his "stunt double". I use that term loosely because they clearly don't even know what a stunt double is. And Sandow is taking phantom bumps when someone does a move on the Miz. These feuds are not compelling. They aren't even funny. This is what they pay people thousands of dollars to come up with? This is what people with actual college degrees are coming up with? A 5 year old could fantasy book something that is funnier than this.

    ReplyDelete
  82. That screen name puts you in grave danger.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Fuck off wanker. Lick my bollucks.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Good God this show sounds over the top bad. Cena vs HHH and Stephanie as your main event feud. WOW. The free month in November would actually be a rip off, this shit is so bad.

    ReplyDelete
  85. It's their late 2015 gimmick when they trade religion for cocaine.

    ReplyDelete
  86. The gimmick would appear to be a James Brown imitation. About what I would expect from the brain trust.

    ReplyDelete
  87. uh...I think you need help.

    ReplyDelete
  88. It's spelt bollocks...

Oh and corr blimey guv'nor piss off you airy-fairy uphill gardner or I'll set me manky trouble and strife on ya I will... now who's up for tea, crumpets and jellied eels?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Yeah, 'cunt' isn't happening in a million years. It's so much more offensive over here. Maybe something less obvious like 'fanny'. I'd go with 'twat', but I'm low-rent.

    ReplyDelete
  90. What? No blood pie or warm beer?

    Fuck off.

    ReplyDelete
  91. It's a misogynistic word.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Most of this is shit, but Ziggler/Harper a small light at the end of the tunnel. WWE's best big man vs it's best bumper? Sign me up for that.

    ReplyDelete
  93. yep, this was smarky as f**k but I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  94. HHH verbally crapping on talent in the middle of the ring is like when Cole verbally craps on Diva matches, I don't get how it's "good for business". It's not like they get any form of comeuppance, and worse yet, the "heel" is actually proved right. (Daniel Bryan not cut out to be champion etc). It's not not done in a story line kind of way either, seems awfully personal and petty.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Very few things annoy me more in modern-day WWE than those times when Steph has to put other strong heels in their place, like she did with Lana and Rusev. That kind of stuff should never happen.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I watched that whole segment last night and thought it was Xavier Woods.

Wow, that sounds racist. But i was really really tired.

    ReplyDelete
  97. "Yep Mode" Abeyance Brown ©November 11, 2014 at 4:16 PM

I was just wondering why Xavier was flying through the air, then it was revealed to be Kofi.

    ReplyDelete
  98. in regards to announcing they need a guy like mike tenay who does nothing but call the in ring stuff. it worked in wcw when schiavone n heenan n zybysko kept rambling about the nwo during matches while tenay just kept calling the action.

    ReplyDelete
  99. kofi getting repackaged in anyway is good. he was stuck n not going anywhere nd needed a new direction.
