Hi Scott,
Just wanted to share this article I researched and wrote breaking down the 71 traditional Survivor Series elimination matches that have taken place throughout the years: http://whatculture.com/wwe/8-wwe-survivor-series-statistics-you-need-to-know.php. It's in a similar vein as the Royal Rumble stats WWE loves to trot out every January, so any stat junkies out there (don't know if you're one of them) might appreciate it.
I'm actually a little surprised WWE doesn't take advantage and plug some of this stuff, like Orton having eliminated the most wrestlers, or Ultimate Warrior's outstanding record surviving since they have been using him in self-promotion a lot. But then I realize it's WWE and come to my senses.
Anyway, thought you might enjoy. Take care and have good one.

Aside from the match itself, which rarely disappoints, the Royal Rumble stats was always my favourite thing. I loved hearing about who lasted the longest, who had the most eliminations, the quickest elimination, etc.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that someone wrote this up for the Survivor Series makes me appreciate this PPV just a little more. It used to my my third favourite PPV (WrestleMania and Royal Rumble coming first), but it's paled in comparison for a long time.
Eh, it'd be nice if they used some of those stats but then again the traditional SS match isn't that huge of a deal anymore. The Rumble is always a big deal, hence all the stats.
ReplyDeleteRumble has lost a lot of luster with no real midcard and lack of new big stars. Last few years have been dull with little storytelling too.
ReplyDeleteLoved 87-89
ReplyDeleteAs I said just a day or two ago, I have a soft spot for 1990. Only because it was one of the few shows I had on tape (brother in law taped it off a live satellite feed). So that show was well watched by me. Ditto Summerslam 1990.
ReplyDeleteWas 1990 the debut of taker and the survivor match at the end? Cause I'm with you I loved they one
ReplyDeleteYupp
ReplyDeleteYup, 1990 was the first one for me too. 1989 is certainly better, but it's better than 1991 which was a real dog.
ReplyDelete@My Iast pay, check was $9500 working l2 h0urs a week 0nline, My neighb0ur's sister has been averaging 15k for months now and she works about 2o hours a week. l can't beIieve how easy it was 0nce l tried it 0ut

Did the Undertaker have four eliminations in the 1995 Survivor Series or is Mabel's countout considered a "team" elimination. Just curious as to how that would be classified.
ReplyDelete92 and 93. Ugh
ReplyDeleteWell he was the legal man, so I would count it. It just looks way better on paper that way too.
ReplyDeleteI lumped all DQs and countouts the same -- they counted as a person being eliminated (as you can either survive or be eliminated) -- but no one got credit for the elimination. So Mabel would count as a team or self-elimination.
ReplyDeleteThere are a handful of matches where half the wrestlers were eliminated by DQ or countout with no credit given. Flair won a '91 SS match when the other five remaining guys got DQ'd, leaving Naitch as the sole survivor in a match with only two credited eliminations.
How many wrestlers to have participated in a Traditional Survivor Series Match have since ceased surviving?
ReplyDeleteYou forgot to add up how many people have jobbed to clotheslines
ReplyDeletewatch the new countdown they did about Survivor Series on the Network (kind of a quickie at only 23 minutes and lots of hype for this year's event) and they do cite a couple stats like that. They note HBK's most losses and Roman Reigns eliminating 4 in one match. I think they mention a couple others too.
ReplyDeleteNot enough!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see someone job to the ten mounted punches in the corner.
So if Shawn is Mr. Wrestlemania and Bret is Mr. Summerslam does that make Mr. Survivor Series... Orton?
ReplyDeletePretty much seems that way. If Orton was actually going to be at SurSer, he definitely should have played up his dominance.
ReplyDeleteQuite a few. For really morbid Survivor Series Trivia, I worked out that Harley Race (Team Andre, 1988), Greg Valentine (The King's Court, 1989, ironically the only member of that team to be eliminated), Animal (Warrior's Team 1990) and Jacques Rougeau (Foreign Fanatics 1993) are all the sole survivors of their team. :(
ReplyDeleteWhat about Aja Kong in 1995? She eliminated all of Alundra Blayze's team.
ReplyDeleteShe did eliminate four also. I put all the women's records under one item since there were so few SS women's matches. Kong's listed there.
