TV Wrestling

Hi Scott,

I find TV wrestling to mostly be pointless with it never really doing anything of note.

I just watch PPVs and feel I'm clued in on the story line within seconds due to either the video package or that its modern wrestling and the storyline is insignificant.

How important is TV wrestling to you?

They have a YouTube segment called "Top 10 RAW Moments" and "Top 10 Smackdown Moments" where they recap the entire show in about 2 minutes.  That's about how much time I need to invest in the product to stay caught up now.

  1. I had a similar idea for a youtube series awhile back, but found myself to lazy to give that much effort to the current product.

  2. This is how boring everything is to me right now....I even fast forward through Andy PG's RAW recap. Of course, part of it is because Raw is terrible, and the other part is because Andy prattles on for the entire length of an episode.

  3. Are there any Raw reviewers you do recommend?

  4. Next week at least 4 of those 10 "Best RAW Moments" will involve grumpy cat.

  5. I only go here, so no. I'm stuck with Andy I guess you could say.

  6. You know what's funny - I don't even read the recaps anymore (Andy's are too long, my attn. span too short) and I still feel like I can easily keep up with the product right now. That's a sign of how deep it really is.

  7. The recaps are too long for me too, and I just about keep up with the product by reading the comments section on the blog.

There are some things you can't really appreciate unless you see them on TV each week, though.

Case in point: the initial awesomeness of Joseph Park

Or the antics of Damien Mizdow

  10. Due to being to cheap to subscribe to Sky, I haven't watched Raw in years. Based on what I read in recaps, I don't feel I'm missing out. If a segment or match sounds worthwhile I can generally find it on YouTube if I search quickly enough.

  11. I have easier to RAW since I can just watch USA, yet despite that, I have seen exactly one episode (the post-Mania show) in about a year and a half, though I was fortunate to flip over the night of that tremendous Ambrose/Rollins street fight. Otherwise I just read the recaps online and then check out any videos of any major events.

  12. The Ambrose /Rollins match was an example of something I checked out online after reading reviews of that particular Raw. It was indeed tremendous. Why couldn't they have had that match at Summerslam. ......

  13. There's too much wrestling on television today. Everyone is exposed (except Lesnar) and used on nearly every broadcast in an in-ring capacity. In the old days you bought PPVs to see guys like Sting, Hogan and Flair wrestle not only against named wrestlers, but against anyone at all. Who are the big names today? Cena and Orton? They wrestle twice a week, often wrestling each other. It's insanity.

They need to kill Main Event and Smackdown, then bring back jobbers with the added condition that once in a while the jobber wins, thus beginning his or her career in the company. Look at guys like the 1-2-3 Kid and Santino, who were considered nobodies and were then made in one single match. It's a route never explored.

  14. They need to use the mid cards more in main events and stop throwing out PPV main event type matches to close out RAW. I remember when IC matches were deemed important to close out the show but fuck that, main eventers or GTFO apparently
