Original Plan for Alberto Del Rio in Ring of Honor

Del Rio was originally going to feud with Adam Cole for the RoH World Championship but Cole's injury put a stop to that plan.

  1. Ain't no sleep for the wicked tonight. Good for AJ. He was with TNA for a long time. He felt the need for a change and he made it and he's happy where he is.

    ReplyDelete
  2. LOLing that Tribute to the Troops outdrew Smackdown by 200,000 viewers.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Yeah. Embarrassing.

    From 411:

"- Last night’s annual episode of WWE Tribute to the Troops beat out the live episode of WWE Smackdown in ratings and viewers. The show did 2.23 million viewers and a 0.7 rating in the 18 – 49 demographic, up 10% and a tenth from Smackdown’s 2.02 million and 0.6 demo rating.

The show was down 3% in total viewers from last year’s but up in the demo; the 2013 Tribute to the Troops did 2.31 million and a 0.6 demo rating. It’s difficult to get an accurate comparison between the two though, as 2013’s episode aired on a Saturday.

  4. They advertised that Bray/Ambrose bootcamp match and flocked in the viewers baby!

    ReplyDelete
  5. When AJ had the TNA world title, and did loads of promos talking about
how Dixie was an idiot and TNA sucked, and then Dixie screwed him out of the
title, then AJ left and never came back…. Well that was just a really dumb way
to book someone who’s leaving your company.

    ReplyDelete
  6. They could've made him a job guy for his last six months, but instead they put the World title on him. It was a strange thing.

    ReplyDelete
  7. What the F...

"Outgoing Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig will receive a salary of about $6 million annually in retirement, sources told ESPN's Buster Olney."

    ReplyDelete
  8. That's one hell of a retirement package.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Was pretty underwhelmed with yesterday's NXT. The main event was pretty disappointing, but I know they were saving their good stuff for the future matches between them

    ReplyDelete
  10. To quote Cryme Tyme: "Selig making that Money Money Yeah Yeah that Money Money Yeah Yeah"

    ReplyDelete
  11. I felt the same. Initially I was disappointed because of the potential quality of match they could have. But it was more about setting up future stuff down the road than tearing the house down now.

Neville should have sold that DDT like death though. Not doing a tope a minute later.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The taped shows can drag a little. I haven't seen last night's show yet, but from what I've seen in the past it can get a little "meh" at times.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Original Plan for Alberto Del Rio El Patron in Ring of Honor

    There ya go.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Earned every penny (in some bizzaro universe)

    ReplyDelete
  15. That shithead ruined baseball.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Bayless is off his game this morning. Maybe he's been sipping too much of el patron. Calling El Patron Del Rio.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Figured no one would remember the name switch.

    ReplyDelete
  18. You figured wrong JACK!

    ReplyDelete
  19. The recapper on 411 gave the main event ***3/4 and the Bayler/Lynch match **3/4. He's up there with TJ Hawke in terms of not being able to properly rate matches.

    ReplyDelete
  20. The fans will be disappointed when it turns out it was actually Bork Lazer that was advertised.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Haven't watched the main yet but Lynch/Bayley was basically a squash. It was fun, but yeah... that is way high.

    ReplyDelete
  22. "But AJ Styles is an idiot for working less dates for more money in Japan than going back to TNA!"

    ReplyDelete
  23. I saw that review! I was a bit baffled. I enjoyed the match for what it was but I just cannot see a ***3/4 for that match.

    ReplyDelete
  24. TJ Hawke is the worst. No offense to the guy but his ratings and logic are way off base.

    ReplyDelete
  25. THAT'S WHAT I DO!

    /Henry'd

    ReplyDelete
  26. "TNA: We... Fucked... Up."

    ReplyDelete
  27. At least make him cleanly lose to Magnus. Of course Magnus was only pushed because he vaguely looked like Orton.

    ReplyDelete
  28. With the rumble coming up, who do you think will be surprise entrants this year?

    ReplyDelete
  29. The resident Star Rating Czar Jobber should just review other people's reviews for us. I'd love to see him go to town on Hawke for his star ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Sleep, friend.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Jobber needs to rally them up and conduct a Star Ratings Summit

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think they protected AJ thinking that he would re-sign.

    ReplyDelete
  33. "...and AndyPG." - jobber

    ReplyDelete
  34. These young cats man. They don't respect the snowflake.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I never sleep cuz sleep is the cousin of death.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Honestly, no one is a surprise anymore. WWE's ran through their list of part-timers and former stars already.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm hoping for the Dudleys since it's in Philly. Outside of RVD, they're the only ECW guys in decent shape these days.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I agree that they don't have a very deep bench as far as possible surprises we haven't seen before.

But they can still surprise us with someone we forgot about. Jericho in 2013 was a legit surprise.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Tony Garea.

And you will be MARKIN' OUT, BRO.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Vinnie Mac? Is that you?!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Goddammit pal that's how you do it!

    ReplyDelete
  42. He's too busy shagging old broads for cash.

    ReplyDelete
  43. He'll probably eliminate Rollins to setup their Mania feud.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Rollins/Orton is the rumored direction?

    ReplyDelete
  45. I don't know about you guys but I think Seligs finest hour as commish was over looking the epic amount of PED use to rebuild baseballs popularity, and then right as there was about to a public backlash blacklisting any entire generation of stars from the game. Not only has it crippled the star power of the game but it alienated 90% of their young fans.

Thanks for driving all my peers to the NBA Bud! Its a much better sport and league

    ReplyDelete
  46. And Ryder Strong and Ghost Rider.

    ReplyDelete
  47. hundreds of commercials warning people not to drink and drive, you'd think there would at least be a few warning people about drinking and trying to cut their own hair.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Nah, his finest was trying to contract the Twins to increase his daughter's market share with the Brewers. Thanks Pop!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Was the show itself any good? I saw a clip where Daniel Bryan started picking on Rusev for no reason and then a bunch of US army parasailed down to the ring apron and surrounded him. It was awful.

    ReplyDelete
  50. You know what you should watch is that English Premier League.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hey, don't drink and cut your hair.

    I'm nothing if not helpful.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Okay let's assume the rumors are true(dangerous I know) here's the WrestleMania 31 card:

    Reigns vs. Lesnar
    Sting vs. Hunter
    Taker vs. Bray
    Cena vs. Rusev
    Rollins vs. Orton.

Con: I don't much care for that card.
Pro: New guys like Reigns, Bray, Rusev, and Rollins featured prominently.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yeah, but we need tv spots and banner ads

    ReplyDelete
  54. Yeah, that's not the most exciting card on the planet.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hey they can never take ending an all star in tie and then making it decide home field in the world series from you Bud! You earned that accomplishment the old fashioned way!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. maybe one of those parade balloons

    ReplyDelete
  57. Man Underweartaker vs. Bray is going to be awful. Sting vs. Triple H will be OK, i guess, but why couldn't they give the fans Underweartaker vs. Sting instead?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Something tells me it's not much of an epidemic.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hogan will be involved in the Cena vs. Rusev match, probably will be Cena's cornerman. It will set up their later feud.

    ReplyDelete
  60. have you look in a wal-mart?

    ReplyDelete
  61. I still say he should remane himself "Alberto Del Impacto" just to annoy TNA.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Yeah, Selig is a fucking idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  63. F'N Body Slams - Dan SelbyDecember 19, 2014 at 7:38 AM

    Isn't is 'Tsar'?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Could an idiot have built up that much goodwill from the 1994 strike?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Rusev beats Cena for the title. Rusev, full of piss and vinegar, BRAZENLY makes an open challenge to defend the title right then and there! Who could answer this challenge?!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Was Underweartaker a typo or a gimmick change?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Lana throws salt in Rusev's eyes. 3 punches. Big boot. Leg drop.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I've always called him Underweartaker lol.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Despite what worst in the world says. Im curious as to who Ambrose faces.

    ReplyDelete
  70. It's however Jobber decides it's spelled.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I'm thinking either Rollins or I got nothing. Rollins.

    ReplyDelete
  72. He'll be in the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal. He will eliminate himself.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Wasnt it orton and kane when he gets back. That was making the rounds last week.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Which will set up the Cena vs. Hogan match at the next PPV for the belt. Perfect.

That will draw an incredible amount of mainstream interest and can give WWE the opportunity they need to re-push the Network to lapsed fans.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Props. Accurate too because he surely wears underwear. He cannot dispute your nickname!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Dean Ambrose answers the challenge and runs to the ring. However, he runs directly into the Russian flag and trip on the steel steps, running head first into the barricade. Bray Wyatt's hologram appears out of nowhere and hits Sister Abigail for the 3 count.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Make it the Dudleys. Have D-Von come out first, then Bubba a few entries later. They 3D people all over the ring and the crowd goes nuts. Then have a mega-heel eliminate them for massive heat and Reigns eliminate that heel.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Crikey Mate Down Under AussieDecember 19, 2014 at 8:10 AM

Bryan did fine getting called that and more.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Seriously, that CSS configuration of the buttons on that poll clearly showed the voting wasn't legit.

Also, Dolph Ziggler is winning the Rumble, that guy is getting booked like Austin before he won the Rumble in 1998. Reigns is being booked like Vader before the Rumble in 1998.

    ReplyDelete
  80. It's selfish, but I hope none of the NXT guys get called up. This show is so drastically better each week than anything the main roster is doing.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I didn't tell you to fuck off Dock Muraco-San. You're my favorite gaijin.

    ReplyDelete
  82. As long as Afflection isn't a sponsor, I think Dana White is hoping for it.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I think a lot of us want the fans to "pick" a guy and the promotion then going with it (the way it happened with all three mentioned). with Reigns, it seems as if it is the opposite: the promotion "picking" the guy and expecting the fans to buy into it.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I typically am not a huge fan of talent like Corbin, but I think he's their Goldberg - doesn't talk, squashes people and has a cool finisher. No reason he can't be a success and the fans already love the guy.

My big question is what will happen to Kevin Owens - the 2 biggest things that got him over as an indy darling were 1) his cursing promos where he had the crowd going, and 2) his awesome move set. He can't do #1 anymore, and half of his moves are banned by the WWE. He also has had a lot of knee problems so his window is rather limited, but I hope he gets a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Cena vs Orton,one more timeDecember 19, 2014 at 8:55 AM

King: "Kevin Owens? More like Kevin Owns a lot of sweatpants. Is he sponsored by McDonalds, Michael?"
Cole: "I don't know but he's definitely unstable. He's not right in the head. He's crazy. He's delusional. He does not like to have fun"

    ReplyDelete
  86. Fan voting legit? Come on Scott, I respect you too much to think you actually believe that.

    ReplyDelete
  87. See this guy...he gets it.

    ReplyDelete
  88. The Love-Matic Grampa!December 19, 2014 at 9:38 AM

HQ is a weird show, as LeBatard doesn't seem to like athletes all that much and is always trying to get salacious stories out of them for his own amusement. He actually trashed Boz for coming on his show and not being "fun" enough and refusing to tell wacky drug and guns stories, and then tried to bury his "30 for 30" film. His dad is amusing enough and I think they added Bomani for balance, because Dan by himself would likely be no buys.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Agreed -- I think the backlash is a lot of whining from smarks. He'll be fine in the Rumble with his power moves. Just have him eliminate someone like Kofi in a spectacular way and he'll get over. I'm from Philly and the crowd always responds to big power dudes.

    ReplyDelete
  90. He needs Punk to make him look really, really good before pinning him in a handicap match.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Interesting -- wonder if Dean's decision to do this has any impact on him never winning?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Nice description: "motivated Nash" lol. Love it, though he's not the promo Nash was/is. I can listen to that dude talk all day long on shoots.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I like Reigns, but that's a very fair point.

    ReplyDelete
  94. The Love-Matic Grampa!December 19, 2014 at 9:50 AM

Part of me wonders if a) not everyone in the WWE front office is all in on Reigns (thus five minutes to beat Fandango and the like) or b) WWE is treading lightly because they absolutely do not want a backlash against the guy they've pegged as the future. Because this has been one odd push to the top of the mountain for Roman.

    ReplyDelete
  95. So by that logic, Rollins is Mankind, lugging around the MiTB briefcase like Mick did with the Hardcore Title, and when HHH screws Rollins in favor of his new "boy" Reigns, it will make Rollins a beloved fan favorite?

    ReplyDelete
  96. THAT'S when you'll get the "Fuck you Roman!" chants, and huge backlash against Samoan Cena.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Sadly he had a mouthpiece, his name was Dean Ambrose...

    ReplyDelete
  98. Is that hard to book the heroic monster that doesn't speak? Anyone ever heard of Goldberg?

    ReplyDelete
  99. I think Meltzer's reporting it as such.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Judging by Meltzer's comments of late, looks like they've got cold feet with Reigns.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Goldberg's version looked good because he legit speared the shit out of guys.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Motivated Mini-Diesel. Meh.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I'd say it's gotta be Balor - he was treated like a superstar at Takeover.

I think Zayn will get over in spite of not being booked as a top guy. He has that extra something where he really connects with the crowd.

I wonder if the recent Zayn feud was a test to see if Neville could be taken seriously as a heel. That way, he's not pigeonholed as Evan Bourne 2.0

    ReplyDelete
  104. Batista, I think, has a lock on a solid supporting player movie career in Drax the Destroyer. Had they brought him back JUST before or slightly AFTER Guardians' debut, and NOT shoved him into a spot that the fans DESPERATELY wanted Bryan in, it would have been a totally different reaction.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I know Bryan Alvarez has said it. He says everyone he talk to there swears it's on the level.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Then Dvon disappears, and Bully Ray has a legit heel push?

    ReplyDelete
  107. I've never been a big fan of Owens/Steen. I just don't see "star" when he wrestles, unlike someone like Balor or Zayn. Even on NXT this week, I was very underwhelmed by Owens' talking and, like you said, without doing really dangerous-looking moves, what else is there?

I'm open to being proven wrong, but I really don't see him being a top star long term, although some (including The Rock, apparently) disagree.

I think the guys with the most long-term potential for WWE are Finn, Zayn, Neville (not as a top guy but as a solidly entrenched midcarder or upper midcarder), Corbin, Charlotte, Sasha and Breeze. I know that's a big list, so if I had to choose one, it would be Finn Balor.

    ReplyDelete
  108. They're making him the "Samoan Cena" complete with smirking action. It fucking sucks, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  109. This only reinforces the fact that Punk is good friends with Chael Sonnen, because Chael HATES Landsberg after he embarassed him on this show a few years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I love Breeze. He's got so much more going on, character wise, than most of the rest of the roster.

Bull Dempsey is awful and will never get over on the main roster. In fact, I doubt he even makes it.

    ReplyDelete
  111. That Michaels guy did a lot of flips and flops.

    ReplyDelete
  112. DUDE. Him walking away from Mene Gene without saying a DAMN WORD after a match just blew my mind as a teenage wrestling fan. I was so conditioned, so USED to people stopping to jaw with Gene that when Goldberg did that, it was like....HOLY SHIT. This is intense!

    ReplyDelete
  113. Make him even more like a sawed-off Diesel? Cool. Heh, in a all seriousness, that could work as a finisher for him....for some reason, I think they should ditch the spear, and just give him the Jackhammer for a finisher. I know, I know...I turned him from your "Little Diesel" into "Samoan Goldberg"....but I think the latter makes him a bit more different than the former, especially if that punch is what sets up the Jackhammer. You could get a lot of mileage out of him doing that to the bigger guys.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Not really when compared to modern guys. And even having said that, Mister_E was no fan of Michaels getting an upper card run during his younger, flippier days.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Let us not forget that Reigns has been Hunter's "chosen one", not necessarily Vince's. The fact that they brought him up as part of the Shield and kept him there over a year tells me Vince isn't 100% sold on him. Rock, Cena, Orton, Batista & Lesnar all got brought up and pushed solo. Maybe Vince sees him as a Diesel, and remembers how he turned out as champ?

    ReplyDelete
  116. Batista was the man in 04-05 and 07-10. He just had an unwinnable situation when he came back.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I actually want some guys who are being utterly wasted on the main roster to drop down to NXT and get proper matches/feuds. THAT'S how bad RAW has become. Just...fuck it. Let RAW be three fucking hours of Cena blowing Hunter. I'll watch NXT instead.

    ReplyDelete
  118. His physique is more Christian than anything, though...and seeing how they treated HIM....I worry for Sami.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Kinda reminds me of a young Danny Spivey. How did things work out for him?

Hell, they should make him "Baron Mercy" and follow in Spivey's footsteps when they call him up.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Reigns was getting really tepid responses for the ill timed, overly scripted promos "live" via satellite. However, when he comes out to actually help a fellow "good guy" the response has been better. Sadly, this will just further confuse the WWE brain trust who feel the best way to get him over is to shove down our throats badly written catchphrases. "Hey Roman, Stephanie here. To make your promos more dramatic, insert pauses. Lots of pauses. The more pauses, the more dramatic."

    ReplyDelete
  121. The ONLY reason I agree with this is because sadly, a woman can have all the talent in the world, but the only things starting with a "T" on a woman that Vince or Hunter are interested in, ain't talent. PG "tits and ass" acts like the Bellas SUCK so bad, but it is what awaits any woman unfortunate enough to be called up to the main roster.

    ReplyDelete
  122. The problem for Charlotte is she's a good (potentially great) wrestler. WWE isn't looking for woman wrestlers. They're looking for Divas. It's amazingly shitty to say--but also 100% true: if Charlotte got a nose job & implants WWE would push her to the moon.

Personally I wish they'd spend another year of seasoning her in NXT, while developing a group of equally skilled women wrestlers to accompany her, and then move them to the roster en masse, and push her and them based on wrestling ability. They could push Charlotte as a legit mainstream star athlete & fighter.

But alas, the Divas aren't going away anytime soon.

    ReplyDelete
  123. I totally see Reigns going the Diesel 95 route unless he just somehow starts putting on ***** matches or develops innate charisma within himself like Austin or Rock.

    ReplyDelete
  124. So sad, but true. FUCK.

Unless she's Velvet, or Madison Rayne 2.0, she's got no future in the WWE. In my ideal world, the skanks and bims like the Bellas would be the ones wrestling in front of 40 guys in a Bucks Lodge somewhere in Bumfuck, Ohio, while Charlotte and most of the SHIMMER roster would be on the main stage of the WWE, stealing the show from the unmotivated lugs in the ME.

    ReplyDelete
  125. I want the Reigns push to fail as fast as possible so he can move on to a character that will work for him.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Not until the fans forcible made the WWE alter their plans for him, he didn't.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Its weird because I've only ever watched Balor/Devitt as a heel, so watching him get these awesome reactions is a face is incredible. I still think him as the weasel heel is money, but if he's gonna do these entrances they may actually market him like they do Mysterio.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I mean they already have him spouting corny ass scripted lines instead of letting him be the silent bad ass he got over as being in the first place. Apparently everyone on top has to be just like John Cena.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Heh. And he has the nerve to put out a "workout" DVD. The only workouts Huntor the Walking Steroid does to get "where he's at" physically, are "Needle to Ass Curls". Same goes for his steroid guzzling wife, who is so envious of the younger, prettier girls on the roster that she shoots up as many roids as he does, and has her tits redone every few months in order to keep up.

    ReplyDelete
  130. There is no absolute sure thing in NXT.

That doesn't mean there isn't great talent.

But pegged for main roster success, can't call it.

I will say KENTA will not last a year if called up. I do not think he is there for the long haul. I feel he is there to say "Mama I made it in America" and going back to Japan a bigger star.

    ReplyDelete
  131. It kind of sucks that they already have Bray Wyatt as a "cult leader" type, cuz Devitt could do the same thing in a Kevin Sullivan Army of Darkness type of deal with some of that body paint he wears... its got a pap shango/boogeyman vibe thats kinda creepy but not hokey.

    Im digging it.

I dont know how that would translate on the main stage. He would have to have an elaborate entrance

    ReplyDelete
  132. I honestly think they could make her a HUGE star. But it's just like Natalya: she came in with a great pedigree and they turned her into just another Diva.

    ReplyDelete
  133. That is the worst idea for a Finn Balor imaginable.

    ReplyDelete
  134. One thing that I hadn't felt before last night's NXT show...is that Big Cass has a bit of Edge in him. The facial expressions...the willingness to be uncool so it makes you cool...

    HOW YOU DOIN'?

    ReplyDelete
  135. It probably was, they just didn't look at the actual voting screen on the app to see that the buttons were screwed up.

    ReplyDelete
  136. In Nattie's case, because she was so much better than their "rasslin' strippers" they also gave her a farting gimmick as further punishment. In my mind, that was second only to "Piggy James" on the humiliation scale.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Herp to the derp derpDecember 19, 2014 at 11:50 AM

Actually.... Chael has been back on numerous times since then and they get along great now.

    ReplyDelete
  138. lol Online backlash isn't a telling sign in any way as to how the casuals will react to him.

He's not my favorite or anything, but I don't mind Reigns beating Lesnar.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Am I the only one who thinks that reigns new ring gear looks awful?

    ReplyDelete
  140. "Samoan Cena" or bust.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Sheamus was Hunter's "chosen one" as well. Didn't work out too badly for him, but he's not setting the world on fire anymore either. Could end up the same for Reigns.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Devon disappears, comes back as Reverend D-Von, complete with Deacon Reigns.

Works for me. Give Bully Ray a valet, like, say, Paige....and we all good, homey.

  143. CruelConnectionNumber2December 19, 2014 at 12:13 PM

Seriously Q going by how WWE promotes "superstars" and stuff --- So Baron Corbin is going bald... is that going to hurt his push, ya think? (He looks like a badass Edge now). Shaved head look work for a tall, kinda lanky dude?

    ReplyDelete
  144. CruelConnectionNumber2December 19, 2014 at 12:14 PM

  145. CruelConnectionNumber2December 19, 2014 at 12:15 PM

I don't see him as Denzel. But he could be Denzel's good friend!

    ReplyDelete
  146. I legitimately don't think the issue with WWE divas is talent -- at least in some cases. Paige is an awesome wrestler, AJ is really good, Nattie is great. But on Raw and Smackdown and WWE PPVs, they're largely incapable (outside a couple AJ-Paige encounters and the excellent AJ-Kaitlyn Payback bout) of having anything good. It's all because of how the matches are produced and laid out.Paige looked every bit as good as Charlotte does now when she was in NXT. There needs to be a fundamental overhaul of how the WWE producers view women's wrestling. Whoever is in charge at NXT gives them a chance to be wrestlers, not women who happen to be wrestlers.

  147. I actually see him being the replacement for Jeff Hardy. No reason he can't be just as big a star.

    ReplyDelete
  148. It's incredible how great Tyson Kidd is on NXT. I love his heel persona. "Ask him! No, ask him in Irish!"

    ReplyDelete
  149. I'm all for that if Steen's response is to piledrive/powerbomb Lawler through a table

    ReplyDelete
  150. There are wrestlers out there who probably don't care about the money as much as the wrestling (there are people like this in every kind of performance art)

But those people wouldn't sign with WWE anyway. If you don't want to called up, why leave ROH?

    ReplyDelete
  151. The way the announcers were saying it, I kept thinking it was called the "Hah-LOOFAH" kick.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Or Reverend D-Von could lead New Day.

    D-Von can dance, right?

    ReplyDelete
  153. Well I never realised my comment could stir up quite that much emotion.

I still think a lot of guys are in it for the love of wrestling ahead of any fame. I'm sure some are in it for the fame but it's not everything. If seeing your name in a t shirt means more to you than job satisfaction then you're pretty shallow.

And I am not an idiot, nor do I need sterilising.

    ReplyDelete
  154. "Like Jackie Gleeson said, 'how sweet it is!'"

    ReplyDelete
  155. You don't become a wrestler for job satisfaction. You become a wrestler to make it. Every one at the level on NXT is in it to get to the next level of making it. We aren't talking fat guy with no muscle mass wrestling weekends in Kentucky at VFW's while he works a real job during the week. We are talking about people who are employed by the largest company in their chosen profession. They are in it to get to the next level and succeed and be successful. That's how they got to this level.

If you don't understand that you are an idiot.

  156. At this point I don't think anyone has a future in WWE.

IIRC Cole was calling Bryan a nerd and a geek when he won the WHC, way before the Yes movement.

  158. If there's any justice, the Vaudevillains.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Reigns & Rollins as heels and Ambrose as the anti-hero babyface seems like a better formula. And a year ago I would have totally pegged Ambrose as the better heel of the trio

    ReplyDelete
  160. It would be a good idea to have him be #1 in the rumble and eliminate all 29 guys to win. That's at least never been done before.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Have him do a WWF No Mercy 64 rumble, just have him stand by the ropes on the side guys come in on and just use a hard punch to knock them back out again.

    ReplyDelete
  162. It would be a lot better than having nearly everybody laying on the mat or in the corners for 95% of the match like they're Rey Mysterio in 2006.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Most wrestlers are terrible actors. The fuck are you talking about?

    ReplyDelete
  164. Considering I didn't say a single word about acting, I'd love to know what you were reading because it definitely wasn't anything I posted. Delivering promos are a different animal than acting. The majority of wrestlers are horrendous reciting written material, but the promos most of us grew up with came from their crazy, coke-fueled minds.

  165. Charlotte could be an exception to the rule, however. She has loads of talent, as witnessed by how she's improved by leaps and bounds after just over a year in NXT. Also, unlike most divas, she's a legacy wrestler (and a Flair, no less) and WWE loves to push second-generation stars.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Edge's spear never looked better than the first time he used it, in that Brood vs Hardyz/Hayes 6-man on Raw.

    ReplyDelete
  167. That was a great moment, especially Mean Gene's look afterwards. It's a shame that there's not a Mean Gene-type to guide interviews. Renee Young could be that person, but it's not the same with backstage interviews and she's not quite ready to handhold weak speakers through their promos. Either way Reigns would benefit from the handholding or the walk-off and not say anything move.

    ReplyDelete
  168. If it makes anyone feel better, most likely Reigns didn't win with more than 50% of the votes, meaning more people voted against him. That said, I don't see why it's a big deal.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Second generation MALE stars. Second gen females get farting gimmicks. Unless they're the progeny of Steph/HHH....I swear, those girls are going to be the first FEMALE WWE Champions. And they'll probably beat John Cena to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Just keep it all black.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Reigns is getting the Rocky Mavia push. Worked so well for his relative Rocky getting over as a top face, might as well try it with him. They don't learn. Though Reigns as a heel is intriguing he doesnt have rock's natural charisma which allowed his career to skyrocket once given a natural role

    ReplyDelete
  172. Why does he have to win it at Mania? That's the absolute wrong place for it especially the next night on Raw. Just do it at Backlash (I know, I know. Let's just call it that)

    ReplyDelete
  173. Its what Paul E always said, "book em to hide weaknesses and accentuate the strengths". 15 minute promos are not a strength of roman, so why should he ever be put in that position? Because "our top face always has to do 15 minute promos"? Forcing every character to fit within the WWE script/mold is hurting talent from getting over. Let them go out and be who they are, say whatever it is they say, and do moves that they want. Try this and maybe product wont be so damn stale

    ReplyDelete
  174. The best booking for Roman is to give him a IC or the US title, but wait, secondary titles mean nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  175. then dont have him do promos

    ReplyDelete
  176. Its the company mold the top face must be.

    ReplyDelete
  177. No he's the steroid guy. Ryback trained at a Long Island gym a year or so back with a huge steroid junky local indy guy around here called the Big O. My friend that knows the Big O said that Ryback and him were talking freely about their cycles of growth hormone and stuff while training. Not that it isn't obvious that Ryback isnt on juice/gh just by looking at him. But yeah, they were comparing notes on dosages/cycle lengths etc

    ReplyDelete
  178. Ambrose has that odd, Roddy Piper charisma where he can be a wildcard heel foil for the babyface, or he can be the everyman underdog babyface that they WISH John Cena was.

    ReplyDelete
  179. Luke Gallows? Does he count?

    ReplyDelete
  180. I love their look, and dammit, if this were the 80's, they'd be in the Tag Title hunt against the Harts and Demolition.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Punk's big push wasn't because of his popularity. It was because he was going to leave the company after his contract was up.

    ReplyDelete
  182. Reigns has always been a smirker, even in the Shield days. It's like his default expression.

    ReplyDelete
  183. I just don't understand the half-shirt/vest thing and the pants with the drawn on pockets. The shield gear was badass and I get they wanted to update it but now it looks childish.

Like if they made the shield gear as a kids Halloween outfit.

    ReplyDelete
  184. Yeah, but that was different. Then, it was sort of a sly, "fuck you" type thing. Now, it's an open grin, that same patronizing babyface bullshit Cena does. And it sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  185. Reigns is going to flop, and I feel so bad for him because truth is there's a lot of potential there. It's just way too early for him.
