BoD NFL Sunday Thread

After going 0-5 last week, I fell to 29-30-1 on the season. Here are my picks for today:

Kansas City -1 at Arizona
St. Louis -3 at Washington
Tampa +10 at Detroit
New York Giants -1 at Tennessee
Indianapolis -3.5 at Cleveland

  1. All this talk about Manziel getting into the game today is ridiculous. Even if he does get in, it is a completely unfair to evaluate his performance as he received no first team reps all week.

    ReplyDelete
  2. How the fuck can you rank a team 3rd in your playoff ranking last week, and drop them to 6th this week? They can't help their schedule, and they responded by blowing them the fuck out. They should've never been rated above Florida State to begin with.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Indy is only 3.5 favorites at Cleveland? Really?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Riding with Bayless again this week. I got KC -1, Indy -4

    ReplyDelete
  5. College football is the worst. They've been at it for a century and still have no idea how to crown a champion.

    ReplyDelete
  6. This college football playoff is already a joke. OSU gets in because of $$$ and because the committee doesn't have the balls to choose between Baylor or TCU.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Committee didn't have the guts to drop FSU out of the top 4.

I also disagree with them keeping Alabama at #1

    ReplyDelete
  8. The Ohio State money interest came in. Like I get that the Big 12 wasn't a premier conference this year but they were better than the Big 10, that's for sure.

The conference commissioners set this up weeks ago saying that "that region of the country" should be represented.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Man, going basically .500 on picks is pretty impressive, actually. Nice job, Bayless.

    ReplyDelete
  10. TCU fell out all the way from #3. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  11. It's the battle of a St. Ignatius QB v. the son of a legendary St. Ignatius QB!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Excited for tonight; a huge game for the Superchargers, something I didn't expect back at 5-4.

    ReplyDelete
  13. So is TCU the Daniel Bryan of college football, or what?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Worse than that; at least Bryan got his world title shot.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Sure. If TCU has the entire national championship scene rewritten completely around them and then gets booked to go over Alabama, FSU and Oregon all clean in route to winning the championship, then yeah, just like Daniel Bryan.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Wow, it's like Hoyer and Gordon aren't even on the same field, that pass was to no one in particular.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I feel like if TCU lost to a lesser team than Baylor, it would have benefited them if that makes any sense. I think Baylor beating TCU but TCU being considered the better team hurt both of them.

    ReplyDelete
  18. First we couldn't win on the road. Now we can't win at home. I need to start drinking

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yes. (Yes. Yes)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Wait, wait, wait... You're allowed to score a touchdown on the opening drive?

    Get the fuck out...

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yeah it's silly. It's like figure skating. They should go to a 16 team playoffs. I feel like that would generate tons of $$$ instead of all the loser bowls they still do

    ReplyDelete
  22. The joys of playing the 31st ranked defense

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hopefully the seahawls wreck shop on the eagles

    ReplyDelete
  24. I hope they never turn lana into a wrestler. I think she's a special performer and to see her wrestle would probably wreck her persona.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Mark Ingram should be murdered

    ReplyDelete
  26. http://www.wrestlezone.com/news/532689-former-heavenly-bodies-tag-team-star-jimmy-del-ray-passes-away-at-52

    😕

    ReplyDelete
  27. Our inconsistency is maddening

    ReplyDelete
  28. I like that Renee Young told them she had no interest in wrestling. I wish they'd stop making girls who can't wrestle, er, wrestle.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Man why didn't I take Carolina and the points.

I remember thinking they actually had a shot at winning the game outright. I'm an idiot.

    ReplyDelete

So why no love for Cotton Eye Joe? What is wrong with humanity?

How long after this song was played out and dated did the Yankees continue to use it for Yankee home run trots?

    ReplyDelete
  31. That and a lack of a conference champion. If Baylor's coach was pissed at his commish last night, he must be 1.2 Zandig today because the co-champion thing probably fucked both squads.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Carolina Panthers: Two New Orleans possessions, two turnovers. Life is good right now.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yep. We used to never lose at home. It was nice...

    ReplyDelete
  34. Life sucks and then you die.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I hope TCU goes all the way!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oh, shit, Carolina and New Orleans fighting and breaking through walls. Surreal as shit.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Maybe this will fire up the Saints?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Geez, whats wrong with drew brees this year?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Carolina Panthers, 17-0 with 6:41 left in the first quarter. Hell is... getting chilly.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Nothing is "wrong" with Drew Brees this year.

    ReplyDelete
  41. This is ridiculous, especially after all the Panthers whining about running up the score. The Saints should've destroyed them

    ReplyDelete
  42. Benwikere just made a Hell of a play, can't really fault Drew Brees for that interception. If anything blame the receiver for poor ball control.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Let's be honest, dude. We're watching two turds play right now. Panthers just have more buoyancy and are floating to the top of the toilet faster tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Cleveland/Indy has all the makings of a rock fight. I didn't support Manziel getting in the game before but if Hoyer continues to stink, give Johnny the 2nd half. If Indy can't score today then Johnny's running could turn the game.

    ReplyDelete
  45. No WRs, no running game to soften the D.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I don't understand how you can clobber Green Bay and Carolina and finally get momentum. Then somehow lose three straight at home. Then beat Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh.

    And now this

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ingram's been running 100 yards recently

    ReplyDelete
  48. Best. Metaphor. Ever.

    ReplyDelete
  49. http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2014/12/what_decline_at_35_drew_brees.html

    ReplyDelete
  50. Fun fact: The Saints have not had a return TD since Week 17 of the 2012 season

    ReplyDelete
  51. This Panthers-Saints game is bizarro world.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Andy Dwyer would be so disappointed by the Andrew Luck turnover into Browns TD

    ReplyDelete
  53. Voting against "Cotton-Eye Joe" is voting against sanity.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Luck is mad as hell at someone over that strip sack into TD. Don't know who.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Himself? It should be himself.

    ReplyDelete
  56. MIA/BAL or STL/WAS. Sonic Highways instead. The NYC episode is most definitely a love affair for music, the business, and a plead for people to create.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Ah, there's the Mike Shula I know. Two yards needed on third, let's throw it forty!

    ReplyDelete
  58. EMPIRE is starting soon on Fox... I cannot wait to not watch that fucking show.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Jimmy Del Ray died. Bummer.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I probably got the best two games going right now, IND/CLE and PIT/CIN. The other games I pretty much don't give a shit about right now.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Very sad. Only 52 years old.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Aww man. That sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Are the Vikings getting better or are they just paying bad teams the last two weeks?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Does not seem like I'm gonna make the Playoffs in my final fantasy league. Down 20 already, and not projected to score more than 90. Opponent is projected at 112.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'm already in (what I dub myself) King of Consolation mode.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Never good when your arms stay up after you hit the ground after a big hit.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Been a choppy year all season for all 3 leagues.

My best league I ran a 4 game winning streak to get to 7-2, but now I've lost 3 streak. If I lose this, it'll be 4 straight, and I'll probably get knocked out of my 4th spot in the Playoffs.

Matt Ryan being iffy all year, early injuries to RBs, no consistent production from any WR, and no production from TE from the last 3 games (I have Julius Thomas).

I guess I can't win championship every year.

    ReplyDelete
  68. STL's kicker is melting down.

Missed an extra point the previous drive.
Just missed a 25-30 yard FG just now.

    ReplyDelete
  69. One of my teams featured Stafford, Foster, Lacy & the Seattle DEF. Finished 5-8. Wait 'til next year...

    ReplyDelete
  70. Their running averages are decent, and overall offensive input is good, although a little off from previous years especially when it comes to TD. Main problem is the defense sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  71. She's been training for over a year, and she's a talented dancer that can do crazy flexible stuff. She'll wrestle eventually.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I know...but it would be cool if she stays untouchable and doesn't take bumps. Although divas champ lana doing it for the glory of Russia could be dope.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Last year was magical. I almost can't take credit. I forgot my draft, and Yahoo autoed for me.

    QB Tom Brady (slow start)
    RB Jamaal Charles

    RB Chris Johnson
    WR Jordy Nelson
    WR Danny Amendola
    TE Jimmy Graham
    K Stephen Gostkowski

I filled out the roster with:

    RB Knowshon Moreno
    WR Julian Edelman
    DEF Denver

10-4. I needed the big 6 TD game from Charles to make the Finals though, so that was awesome as well. Used up all my luck I guess, but it was worth it!

    ReplyDelete
  74. One of the Redskins players did the Shawn Michaels pose. Lol

    ReplyDelete
  75. ...Skins are terrible...

    ReplyDelete
  76. Shayne Graham: Best Kicker Carolina's ever had. Thanks, bud!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Kerrigan just did it again after another sack.

Everybody loves him here. Especially when it seemed like Orakpo wasn't consistent.

    ReplyDelete
  78. You aren't truly in surf shape until you're ready to wear something that says Beach Bum on it.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I think they're turning the corner. They had a disastrous start and started figuring it out. Even their losses since the bad start weren't bad losses.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Thanks, Pepsi, for reminding me I'll be Puppy Bowl-ing during SB halftime instead of subjecting myself to the ear-bleeding wails of Katy Perry.

    ReplyDelete
  81. If Andrew Luck shaved the neckbeard he'd get more credit for his running and athleticism, I really believe that.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Skins 40 yard screen called back for ineligible receiver down the field (center blocked down field too quickly).

    Awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  83. He's getting ready for next year's Gen Con.

    ReplyDelete
  84. He's a caveman.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Welp, fuck this year's playoffs. Looks like a whole bunch of Meteor Bowls to me.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Ha, just after Suh has played clean all season and has been a saint on the field, he tries to literally murder Josh McCown in front of 65,000 people

    ReplyDelete
  87. But...but ...its going to be great! She is such a great performer and her stage shows are out of this world!
Said no one ever over the age 13.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I think Hoyer's trying to get benched at this point. Open receiver deep, guaranteed TD and Hoyer misses him for 10 yards minimum. I just don't get how far he regressed this year.

    Bring on Johnny.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Hoyer with the X-Pac Heat now after overthrowing a wide open for a TD Hawkins by about six yards.

    ReplyDelete
  90. And seriously thinks he's gonna get starter money on the open market?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Ighedibo (spelling) gets the pick in the endzone on McCown, instead of kneeling in the endzone, runs out and fumbles the ball on like the 5 and the Bucs get it back. How stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  92. STL kicker up again for a half ending FG!

    ReplyDelete
  93. 38 yard FG. Wide right. Again. For the 3rd time.

    ReplyDelete
  94. He should just get out of the stadium now and save time. He's fired at the end of the game anyways.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Err, no. The Skins would have no chance then.

    ReplyDelete
  96. "WWE wishes Phil Brooks (aka CM Punk) the best of luck in his newest endeavor." hahahahahahahaha

    ReplyDelete
  97. This is the mood right now at the Kensington Estate...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWLIgjB9gGw

    ReplyDelete
  98. Gonna need some bomb catches from Torrey Smith, TY Hilton, and Marcus Wheaton.

Also good to know I picked up Heath Miller, didn't start him hoping for J Thomas to start, and he catches a TD while Thomas is out again.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Epic 5 minute meltdown by Detroit.

    Roughing the Passer on Suh
Interception in endzone, running the ball out then fumbling and giving it back to Tampa
    Personal Foul on James Jones
    Touchdown to Mike Evans

    What in the fucking fuck.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I wonder if Steph dressed up last night as Punk or she just put on the strap-on instead.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Hoyer probably saved his job with that drive. No score on this drive and Johnny was coming out for the 2nd half.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Gotta give credit to Mike Evans. Rookie of the year so far, and I gave no shits about the guy going into the draft, crediting his success to the Tex A&M offense scheme and Manzell

    ReplyDelete
  103. lol the domestic violence commercial.

Eli looked like he about to get a beating from dad after he blew another game.

    ReplyDelete
  104. VINTAGE LIONS!
    I LOVE IT MAGGLE!

    ReplyDelete
  105. All 3 receivers might have good careers too.

    ReplyDelete
  106. He prolonged his job but he's not under center for them week 1 next year.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Hold on a minute there playas! Them Panthers ain't dead yet. Not when you play teams that suck more than you do

    ReplyDelete
  108. Depends if they make the playoffs this year which is still on the table, especially if they win today. If he leads them to 11-5, he's not getting Tebow'd in the offseason. At least I don't think he is.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Sources saying he's already out because he wants starter money and security, and that's not gonna happen in Cleveland.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Interesting quote I found on a random ESPN thread.

"You can never say never in sports. We got baseball in DC, and they got Football in Baltimore!"

    ReplyDelete
  111. Cant make something like this up....

Last night, couples date night thing with my girlfriend and her friends, went to Buffalo Wild Wings around midnight after a night of drinking and bowling. Typical Affliction shirt wearing, steroid using, greasy hair, mid-40's guy stands up during the UFC main event and goes "KILL HIM, KILL THAT MOTHERFUCKER!!! FUCKING KILL HIM!"

So what do I do?? As everyone at my table is in awe? I stand up and go "I hate that MOTHERFUCKER! MURDER HIM! I WANT HIM TO DIE!"

The guy stares at me in disbelief, then high-fives me and says FUCK YEA and leaves with his son after the fight ends.

    Good god.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Washington might need a QB.

    Arizona too for that matter.

    Buffalo.

    Jets.

    Tampa Bay.

Hoyer could be the next Drew Brees.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Haha minus the Maggle part, the EXACT text I sent to my dad 10 minutes ago. VINTAGE LIONS

    ReplyDelete
  114. Interacting with the wildlife at sports bars is awesome. I used to watch WWE PPVs at Hooters. Every now and then there would be a couple of guys who'd be a little TOO into it. They were always fun to banter with.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Trying to back door into the Bod Fantasy Football League playoffs after starting 3-6. Bad start so far

    ReplyDelete
  116. Hey NFL, the domestic violence conversation starts with you telling your players to stop beating the shit out of women and children.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Hoyer might be the next McCown. No way he's Brees.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Trash like that is common where I live. Partly why I'm a hermit.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Hoyer might be the next Gus Frerotte

    ReplyDelete
  120. Their heart just isn't in it.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I think WWE is actually happy with Punk going to UFC, because it mutes the injury and MMA stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Lol its so awkward and so embarrassing to see.

I got a good laugh from people around me at different tables who kinda knew what I was sarcastically doing, but most everyone I was with was embarrassed to be with me unfortunately. I was probably 8-10 beers in at that point in the night, so what can you do...

    ReplyDelete
  123. Me too. Trying to get to 12-2 and hopefully sneak in as a #6.

    ReplyDelete
  124. How many guys are in the league this year?

    ReplyDelete
  125. Why? Because Brees was so great in San Diego? Remember the Dolphins passed over him for Donte Culpepper as a free agent, and Brees was regarded as just another bad move by the Saints.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Damn. Is that the max you can do?

    ReplyDelete
  127. Roster settings in that league need to change.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I knew 16 in football was too many, but 16 is too many in basketball as well.

    ReplyDelete
  129. The roster settings make it impossible to do anything in that league.m

    ReplyDelete
  130. One of my leagues is possibly worse.

16 players, no trades, waivers are based on standings, not a set number.

    ReplyDelete
  131. I am the 6th seed now. It's a minor miracle with the patchwork team I have. It's Aaron Rodgers, Alfred Morris, and a bunch of crap

    ReplyDelete
  132. Here's to hoping Cleveland goes Manziel next week and we can beat them, then it's a dogfight in the final two weeks, because if Atlanta goes down hard tomorrow night in Lambeau (almost a guarantee), Panthers are a game back.

    ReplyDelete
  133. If STL doesn't make this 3rd and 20, it's FG time!

    ReplyDelete
  134. At least Brees had one awesome year in SD (2004). I'm failing to see what so Brees-y about a guy with a sub-60% completion rating and 11 TDs and 10 INTs in his first full year as a starter.

    ReplyDelete
  135. And here comes the kicker!

    ReplyDelete
  136. More people to feed on for me. FEED ME MORE FEED ME MORE FEED

    ReplyDelete
  137. BARELY made it! Damn.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Starting with "Keep DBSM from winning all the titles so someone else has a shot"

    ReplyDelete
  139. I have so many injuries.

First Beal, then Gibson, and now Vucevic.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Speaking of Ryback, Cabana's impression of him on the first Punk podcast killed me "I thought we were the beater-uper's!"

    ReplyDelete
  141. I seem to have a Midas touch in terms of lucking out with guys who stay healthy all year. I don't think I've been hit with that regard in any of our three years of doing BOD FF

    ReplyDelete
  142. Serious discussion...Calvin Johnson....Top-5 WR of all time or Top-3 WR of all time?

Being a diehard Lions fan I try to not show bias. I still have Jerry Rice and Randy Moss in front of him. So I think Top 3

    ReplyDelete
  143. Fox waits until the 2nd half to bring up Bryan Burwell? WTF?! Jesus Christ.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Flitzgerald should have been in the top 5, but you know, no decent QBs.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Not yet. Getting there, but let's let him get a dozen years under his belt before we start talking legacy.

    ReplyDelete
  146. The one shining point of TB this year.

    ReplyDelete
  147. I was getting a little ahead of myself, I know :)

    ReplyDelete
  148. New Orleans Saints Remaining Games (5-7, looking like 5-8)
@ Chicago, Atlanta, @ Tampa Bay

    Atlanta Falcons Remaining Games (5-7)
@ Green Bay, Pittsburgh, @ New Orleans, Carolina

Carolina Panthers Remaining Games (3-8-1, looking like 4-8-1)
    Tampa Bay, Cleveland, @ Atlanta

The NFC South could realistically see the first six-game division winner.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Ifhe stays healthy and productive, he'll be in the conversation.

    ReplyDelete
  150. I'd still have T.O. above him as well.

    ReplyDelete
  151. He's neither at this point; to enter the consideration for GOAT, he has to actually win something, and play for at least ten to twelve years. He can get there though, no doubt.

    ReplyDelete
  152. We're all hoping for it. My guess is some of these fans rather lose the division than win with that "honor".

    ReplyDelete
  153. Saints should sweep those last 3 easy.

    ReplyDelete
  154. The Falcons are losing tomorrow. Atlanta is the last game, right? I can feel it

    ReplyDelete
  155. The Saints are BAD.

    ReplyDelete
  156. If the Saints were good enough to win the games they should win, they'd be 9-3 right now.

    ReplyDelete
  157. I think Gruden just got himself fired.

He called a fake punt from his own 30 and it was stuffed.

    ReplyDelete
  158. The Bears, Falcons and Bucs are BAD.

    ReplyDelete
  159. hahahahahahahahahahahahaha That's Lane Kiffen level idgaf-ness

    ReplyDelete
  160. Bears and Bucs are no brainer wins.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Because people are dumb.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Certainly doable but nothing is a certainty this year

    ReplyDelete
  163. New Orleans out of the dome in Chicago in December? Saints are terrible outdoors in cold weather. Tampa Bay played New Orleans very tough in the dome as well, so that's also a closer one than you realize.

    ReplyDelete
  164. The Saints are getting killed by Carolina and are about to lose their 4th straight at home

    ReplyDelete
  165. It was like 4th and 9 too.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Bucs are for sure but I'm not taking this year's Saints on the road against any actual NFL team.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Today was a no brainer win.

    ReplyDelete
  168. The Bears are about as bad as they come right now. Saints win by 2+ TD's.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Wow, alright.

    ReplyDelete
  170. The Bears are horrendous.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Doesnt he have contract stating he gets owed a shit ton of money if fired or something?

    ReplyDelete
  172. Do you see what's going on in the Superdome?

    ReplyDelete
  173. So what? Synder is worth like 3 billion or something.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Most coaches do. Shanahan is still collecting Dan Snyder's money. If he quit he didn't get the money so he went out of his way to get fired.

Gruden taking this super hardline stance on RG3 is him trying to get fired also. Either he gets what he wants and RG3 is out of town or he gets paid to sit on his couch.

    ReplyDelete
  175. I've see every second of what's going on in Chicago and the Saints will roll them.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Saints fans are booing now. Took longer than I thought

    ReplyDelete
  177. I hope the Redskins fall into a giant Black hole of suck until Dan Snyder goes.

Also what the fuck is the Saints defense doing?

    ReplyDelete
  178. 4 losses in a row at home. Their home streak under Payton was starting to reach Taker levels.

    ReplyDelete
  179. There's also this...

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11992973/london-fletcher-rips-jim-haslett-washington-redskins-defensive-coordinator-clueless

As I said, the gift that keeps giving. I'm not a Redskins fan at all, so I find all of this hilarious usually.

    ReplyDelete
  180. Did you say hope they fall in?

So what's the last 17 years?

    ReplyDelete
  181. Gruden should just put RG3 in and call nothing but read options.

    ReplyDelete
  182. LOL it gets worse in DC! STL fakes the extra point and gets 2 point conversion.

    ReplyDelete
  183. Holy Shit... 69-yard Touchdown Run for Carolina on their first play of the half. What the fuck are we watching here? This is like the Twilight Zone.

    ReplyDelete
  184. I'm gonna go to the mall and stop by the rope store. Then I'll make sure to pay a visit to the rickety store.

    ReplyDelete
  185. 69-yard touchdown run for Stewart! I motion we just play the rest of our games in New Orleans for the remainder of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  186. Pick Six - Cleveland

    ReplyDelete
  187. Luck with another pick 6. Cleveland's defense has 14, both team's offenses are at 7 apiece.

    ReplyDelete
  188. I don't think anyone from the NFC South is rolling anyone at this point, except each other.

    ReplyDelete
