  1. If I could pick any wrestler from history to walk out on Raw next week, 88-92 era Curt Hennig would be right up there.

    I'm watching the vignettes.

    ReplyDelete
  2. HE CAUGHT HIS OWN PASS!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Best vignettes of all time right?

    ReplyDelete
  4. I'd want a Bret in his prime.

Bret vs. some dudes on the roster would be dope.

    ReplyDelete
  5. They were perfect.

Injustice is free on Playstation Plus this month, got it downloading right now. I've already played it on the PS3 and the PSVita, so I'm hoping the PS4 was worth the free download...

  7. What is the #2 wrestler vingette of all time behind Perfects? The razor Ramon ones were good, and retroactively the ludvig borga anti American ones are so funny, but for me the million dollar man ones (especially throwing the kids out of the pool) is a strong #2 to perfects.

  8. That's the University of Miami, brudda.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Does Garfield have an actual catch phrase or does he just hate Monday's and like Lasagna and naps?

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'd pick '98 Steve Austin.

    ReplyDelete
  11. If we're picking anyone in history (and assuming the booking is good) I could roll with that.

Just hates Mondays and likes lasagna and naps.

  13. The sarcastic fat cat!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yeah, Dibiase is my number 2.

I'm watching the public pool one right now.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Rented it from the library for xbox360. It was ok for the 50 cent rental. I got like 2 hrs of fun out of it. Didn't love the story mode or the star labs mode. I give it a C.

    ReplyDelete
  16. That SOB kicked kids out of a pool!

    What a dickweed!

    ReplyDelete
  17. ALL YOUS BRATS GET OUTTA THE POOL

    ReplyDelete
  18. Time to relive Hulkamania brothers!

    Or Andre.

    ReplyDelete
  19. BWAHAHAHAHA! BWAHAHAHA!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Actually I'd pick a young motivated Vince.

    ReplyDelete
  21. The Original grumpy cat.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Can't wait to finish off the leftover turkey. Tryptophan is kicking my ass this year, I didn't even make it for RAW, which was on 9PM MST.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I am the only sports fan that hates a college football playoff? I much preferred the bowl system.

    ReplyDelete
  24. This is probably the first time Illini basketball has ever been referenced on this site by someone other than me.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Big game tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I hope your pre gaming

    ReplyDelete
  27. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aL65G7XYV0E

Scott Steiner doing a Moonsault powerslam!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yep. Hope we can get them into an up and down, 70-75 possession game. They might think they want to run with us...sure hope that's the case.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Nah, have to get up early tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Not a catch phrase per se, but I always did like his McDonald's mug: "I'd like mornings more if they started later".

    ReplyDelete
  31. The fallaway slam that Razor & Bradshaw just to do. Steiner follows through.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I respect the College Basketball Top 25 games.

    ReplyDelete
  33. So the latest update on the Wii U bricked Smash Bros? Yikes.

    ReplyDelete
  34. He's had a great career.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Wow. And Jesse and Jr on the call. I wish we had those on the network.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I wouldn't know because I enjoy it. Last night you said you were watching until
Ambrose then not watching. So you must be watching on some level, smart ass.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I imagine Gorilla had tto be ribbing there. or else he just wasn't aware of Colon because he was in New York that whole time and didn't keep his finger on the pulse of the wrestling world.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I really wish Pillman and Benoit had a longer run as a team, they were pretty awesome together. Great chemistry and they had a cool combination dropkick/Dragon suplex finish. What could have been.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Nash: Konan, no ones gonna wanna make their own pie.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Was this the tag match the week after Arn beat Hogan on Nitro? If so, I didn't think it was THAT bad (though the post-match beatdown featured a pretty ugly chokeslam by The Giant/Big Show).

    ReplyDelete
  41. I kind of made my mom watch this episode back then, and she was extremely uncomfortable about it, and found Austin to be a disgusting human being. Basically a bully, and nobody should be treated and embarrassed the way Mcmahon was that night (she had no backstory about Mcmahon being an a-hole of course)

Looking back, I do feel it was a bit too far, i mean, death threats are death threats. Turned out to be a joke, but... I don't know.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think he was ribbing, as I believe Vince Sr. had worked with Colon and Victor Jovica in the late '70s or early 80s.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Nope. Arn pins Hogan right after SuperBrawl VI.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The key to watching that Rumble is to notice past, present and future gimmicks, company jumps, and title reigns with the wrestlers involved. It's almost like a "for insiders only" type of match.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I sometimes feel like this is something McMahon got that HHH isn't getting. The boss will never be cool, but HHH usually seems to play the part of the cool heel and it doesn't work when you're the person in charge.

In all fairness, I've watched one episode since Wrestlemania, but that's how it seems from reading the recaps.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I know most people hate Russo, but when he has an editor, it works. Everyone had a motivation for what they were doing and things made sense. It was so much better than the current era where two guys fight for no discernible reason.

    ReplyDelete
  47. The exception to the "can't teach an old dog new tricks" rule. DDP had to be in his mid 30's at this point, and was mostly known as a sub-par undercard act and goofy manager. I still don't think he was great, but he could put together a damn good match during the late 90's.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Simmer down, ladies.

    ReplyDelete
  49. A new 5 year contract that Shane McMahon gave him

    ReplyDelete
  50. I remember hearing rocks music at the time and thinking wtf?!... I like that one he was using before

    ReplyDelete
  51. "After the promo, Terri tells Venis something that he is disgusted with and walks off. It does not take a genius to figure out what that was to the astute viewer."

    ?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Another Russo trademark: Taking plots from movies that he liked and using them for Raw storylines. This episode apparently was based on the movie Swimming with Sharks.

Not saying that's a bad thing. Just notable.

    ReplyDelete
  53. He's not so much a cool heel (he at least doesn't try to bury everyone like most Cool Heels do), but a dominant Heel Champion... despite also being the boss. He continuously wins so often that fans get sick of it, and rarely gets beaten up. McMahon, by contrast, suffers humiliation nearly every Raw.

    ReplyDelete
  54. One of the most memorable RAWs ever, to be sure. I thought Debra was basically the hottest woman in the world when she showed up, and she was the ranking babe in the company for a year or more. Then all of a sudden I kinda stopped caring (probably around the time her character plateaued and never went anywhere).

    ReplyDelete
  55. I think they took a lot of shots at the WWF, because they knew that WWF sucked at that time and WCW hat bigger stars in the main event and better wrestlers in the midcard.

Sure, they wanted to be the new WWF - that's wat competitors do, compare to the competition. It's like Microsoft saying that their Surface Pro is better than the Macbook Air.

WWF and WCW were like Coke and Pepsi. They both taste different, but they are still kind of the same.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Man there's a lot of star power on this episode.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I think you're right on both fronts. HHH and Mankind has just had their Summerslam cage match and weeks later would have their MSG/Cactus Jack match. But as for Shawn and Hunter, yeah, unless you knew they were friends (which I sure didn't at the time), it seemed out of the blue. If you recall, the week before Shawn and faced Mankind in a one-on-one match. Rick Rude interfered on his behalf (not surprising cause Shawn promised a new "insurance policy" earlier in the show. But HHH and Chyna's interference was more "pro-Shawn" than "anti-Mankind" and that was confusing at the time. Here's that match if you don't remember it....complete with a "sick of HBK" sign during the pinfall: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSCNQeyYa_4

    ReplyDelete
  58. Don't tell Punk that Coke and Pepsi taste the same

    ReplyDelete
  59. I dunno, HHH has pretty much been a dork this whole year...telling corny jokes, getting beat by Daniel Bryan and The Shield on 3 straight PPVs, getting bitched out by Brie Bella of all people, being Steph's lapdog at times, etc.;

    ReplyDelete
  60. There are also different tasting beers, but they are still all beer. ;)
