So essentially Sting will be promoted by two companies at the same time. THAT'S why he's The Vigilante, Maggle!
ReplyDeleteWell, they're trying anyway.
ReplyDeleteNo.
ReplyDeleteSolid analysis.
ReplyDeleteMan, TNA is really getting a lot of content in.
ReplyDeleteBut whose side is he on?!
ReplyDeleteOh, and the DA logo is really shitty.
ReplyDeleteStarting with an episode on Sting, who has had a ton of WWE publicity lately, could be a brilliant move, or it could cause the obvious problem of "Hey look at this guy, he's not here anymore!" Not to mention the odd inclusion of WWE's Rob Van Dam.
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed AJ Styles doesn't have a show devoted to him in the opening lineup, too.
I would have given more prominence early on to ACTUAL TNA guys, even if they're former WWE guys. Bully Ray had a career resurgence in TNA, as did Jeff Hardy. Those two should be highlighted before Sting, RVD and absolutely before Mr. Anderson. Not putting Samoa Joe up as one of the first three or four episodes is also mind-boggling.
This is a joke, right? What are they going to do after they run out of material in March? Start a "Worst of..." series?
ReplyDeleteWhy, this is just a blatant shill with no original content! I vote Scott Keith for the 2014 Most Disgusting Promotional Tactic Award in the Observer awards.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for that best of Ron Van Dam special
ReplyDeleteNext week on TNA's Greatest Matches...the Best of Shark Boy, followed by the Best of Jenna Morasca.
ReplyDelete[Peter Griffin]
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOD...WHO THE HELL CARES.
[/Peter Griffin]
Why yes. Yes it is.
ReplyDeleteShh...don't say that too loud. It takes away from the hate they're getting.
ReplyDeleteOf course it all depends if they go for footage of normal Sting or Joker Sting.
ReplyDeleteI think that's they motto of TNA.
ReplyDeleteI can. That will be an expose of laziness.
ReplyDeleteFuck it. Might as well use it.
ReplyDeleteI for one can't wait for the Angle and Samoa Joe stuff.
I would actually watch a Best of Shark Boy, but only if he were to spend the entire hour yelling, "Give me a Shell yeah!"
ReplyDeleteFirst off, you've got to give a lot of credit to Destination America -- at this point, they've done more promotion for TNA than Spike did in eight years. So points for that. Hope it continues.
ReplyDeleteThat said -- it's the same old shit for TNA. "Let's make this all about people who got their major starts in other feds, rather than the people that we actually 'made'!"
Holy crap. It isn't until 7 shows in that they get to a TNA Original with the Knockouts.
And Mr Anderson and Rob Van Dam? REALLY?!?
Why a "Best of" series with Anderson? All his best stuff will be covered with the Kurt Angle series.
ReplyDeleteQuantity AND Quality, that's TNA's motto!
ReplyDeleteI figure it's just 60 ring entrances.
ReplyDeleteBest of TNA without AJ, Daniels, Roode, or Storm. Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI mean, I sort of get why they aren't using AJ, but then STING is the first episode.
The good: Hey, Destination America is promoting TNA!
ReplyDeleteThe bad: Sting? RVD? None of the "homegrown" guys other than Joe and the KOs? Sigh, new channel, same old shit it seems.
So yet again they've passed up the opportunity to rebrand into Impact Wrestling
ReplyDeleteRON Van Dam! Awesome press release.
ReplyDelete10AM: Best of Dixie Carter Fooling Investors
ReplyDelete11AM: Best of Vince Russo Blunders
12PM: Best of Jeff Hardy Under the Influence
HE'S FROM A GREAT BIG ORGANIZATION DOWN SOUTH BROTHER
ReplyDelete1PM: Best of Mr. Anderson Entrances
ReplyDelete2PM: Best of TNA Debuts From Up North
3PM: Best of TNA Celebrities, Featuring Jenna Morasca
It's great to see a network promoting TNA. Spike was about worthless on that front. Austin had similar complaints about CMT not promoting Redneck Island too. Viacom networks need to have a workshop on successfully promoting their programming.
ReplyDeleteAmazed yet to see any "looks better planned than WWE Network" comments around....
ReplyDeleteWhen they run out of "Best of" material for individual wrestlers, they can always move on to "Best of" X-Division, Ultimate X, Bound for Glory, gimmick matches, etc.
ReplyDelete4 pm: Best of Rampage Jackson and Tito Ortiz.
ReplyDelete5 pm: Best of Adam "Pacman" Jones.
It would be nice to see a "Best of" series on the network.
ReplyDeleteTNA: Best of Guys No Longer Here Whose Best Matches can Be Seen Elsewhere For $9.99.
ReplyDelete10 AM: Best of Muscular Superstars
ReplyDelete11 AM: Best of Celebrities
12 PM: Best of Funny Moments
1 PM: Best of Midget Mania
2 PM: Best of Ass Kissings
3 PM: Best of McMahonMania (Two Hour Special)
5 PM: Best of Wrestling (10 Minute Special)
5:10 PM: Best of Sports Entertainment (2:50 Special)
8 PM: Best of Mainstream Mentions
9 PM: More of The Best of McMahonMania
(Repeat at 10 PM)
Debuting in March.
ReplyDeleteRon Van Dam?
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to see the first set of ratings.
ReplyDeleteBest of Michael Cole
ReplyDeleteTNA: Celebrating A Rich History of Failure For 10 Years!
ReplyDeleteOk, that was mean. But seriously, they're going to have to put the past behind them at some point if they're going to build for the future. They can't step out of the WWE's shadow if they keep wrapping it around themselves like a cloak of honor.
Featured in Funny Moments and Sports Entertainment. Maybe he'll get a cameo in one of the McMahonManias.
ReplyDeleteJust got an email from ticketmaster offering 50% off tickets to Impact at the Manhattan Center in January. Which night should I take, 7-8-9?
ReplyDeleteWhich one do you know you're not getting laid, no matter what?
ReplyDeletePick that one.
I live with my girlfriend. That would be all three nights.
ReplyDeleteI think I called 140,000 viewers. Sticking to that.
ReplyDeleteShouldn't they be doing a show called "TNA: The Future of Wrestling" focused on Bobby Lashley?
ReplyDeleteThis is like the millionth time TNA has botched a spelling mistake. Does TNA hire dyslexics as part of their production crew or something?
ReplyDeleteYes. He plays Rob Van Dam at children's parties.
ReplyDeleteI'll be slightly optimistic, and say somewhere around 250-300K.
ReplyDeleteRon...Van...Dam. The Hole F'N Shoe!
ReplyDeleteI'm actually betting they top out at 330,000 in the spring, slowly decline from there.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be more optimistic, but everything I'm seeing lately tells me the company is aspiring to just get back to what they were at the start of this year. The fact that they don't seem to recognize their own path to near demise, and that they need to do at least a 90 degree if not 180 degree turn gives me no confidence in them at all.
They're trying to...but people like us with all the jokes won't let them.
ReplyDeleteSide note: Russo is supposed to be booking again. That should take some of the heat off TNA.
I'd have to see what is the highest rating they could get in that timeslot before I guessed.
ReplyDeleteI prefer "ROB DAM VAN! THE WHOLE SHOW F'N!"
ReplyDeleteYou'd think they'd try to cash in on CM Punk's popularity by doing a Best of Punk in TNA, regardless of there only being a handful of matches to choose from.
ReplyDeleteBest of Tessmacher walking/entering/exiting the ring in slow motion.
ReplyDeleteHe's going to the UK, so other than those poor British, nobody's going to give a shit about him.
ReplyDeleteNow if we could send TNA there permanently... That would be hilarious. "Destination America, bringing you the BEST in British Wrestling!"
7th is the big live show.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'd honestly pick that one too.
ReplyDeleteWednesdays are a bitch for me to get out to Manhattan, because it's my production day. I was thinking either Thursday or Friday, but was shocked to see $55-65 tickets.
ReplyDeleteMight be too rich for my blood during the holiday.
Wait, what row are those?
ReplyDeleteRingside sections. The bleachers are something like $40
ReplyDeleteThis feels like AWA in 1990 with the Team Challenge series. A withering husk of a promotion that still clings to life long after it should've died already.
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely watch that greatest matches series. I've never seen much of TNA and now I can catch up on only the best shit.
ReplyDeleteMTV2 is an exception, when it comes to Wild'n out. They promo that to death.
ReplyDeleteI'll be running a test pattern in a competing slot so that I too can say I've defeated TNA in a ratings battle.
ReplyDeleteHow is it that Ron Van Dam and Jeff Harvey never crossed paths?
ReplyDeleteSurely that guy has to be on some anti-terrorism watch list. If by chance he does manage to get into the country, TNA is doing their second batch of tapings in the UK at the end of January, so he may pop in to spread some poison around.
ReplyDeleteBest of Mr. Anderson. Of course.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't they just add Xplosion to the lineup already?
ReplyDeleteRon Van Dam is awesome. Having written press releases for creative stuff I've done, it's funny to see that because you know that either the PR team is so small no one vetted this release before it went out or no one working for Destination America has any clue what TNA is. Regardless, those are both troubling signs.
ReplyDeleteI hope they show the rafter brawl between... I wanna say it was between Sting and Jarrett, that made Elvy come to the blog and request a match be held in the rafters due to the "cool, unique views" it would create.
ReplyDeleteI think Jeff Jarrett might be the one guy they never show old stuff of.
ReplyDeleteJesus, their seats are the same price as a CHIKARA show.
ReplyDeleteLooking at recent ratings... nothing on the network cracks the top 100 for Wednesday nights, meaning they are currently drawing under a 0.1 18-49 rating, and somewhere under 700K total viewers. I believe their highest rated show ever peaked at around 400K.
ReplyDeleteTNA has to be one of the worst fucking names I've ever heard.
ReplyDeleteThat's not Krusty the Klown!
ReplyDeleteI think he tagged with Bret Clark in the late 90s.
ReplyDeleteLong live Jake "The Milkman" Milliman.
ReplyDeleteNo no. RON Van Dam.
ReplyDeletehttp://m.imdb.com/name/nm1591496/filmotype/actor?ref_=m_nmfm_1
ReplyDeleteLuke Cage has been found. Little I've seen of this dude he seems like a perfectly acceptable Luke.
...holy shit, I missed that.
ReplyDeleteHey its not like Destination America has anything better on. . . .
ReplyDeleteI thinK DA is in about half the homes, right? And they haven't announced the new station on television, and are presumably waiting until the very last clip show that nobody is going to watch to announce the move. So if you halve the 1,000,000 audience straight off the bat to 500,000 and then factor in the large amount of people who may never even hear about the move at all, I doubt they'll top 200k, if that.
ReplyDeleteUFC's also moving from Sportsnet to TSN up here in the hinterland.
ReplyDeleteLooks like TSN will unload the vast majority of the UFC content on The Fight Network which i don't get and even if i did order it, is only available in SD.
Oh well C'est la vie UFC.
Dixie: "CM Punk is my intellectual property".
ReplyDeleteCM Punk: "Sue, or fuck... sue, or fuck... SUE THEIR ASSES. Wait, I can't fire AJ Styles once I win the company? Shit... nevermind. I'm damn sure not touching that Botoxed whore with any sort of pole... and my AJ gets jealous enough when I mention banging a Diva... fuck it, I'll give the company to Chael once I win."
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they will.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Ron isn't a lazy stoner. Tune in to find out!
ReplyDeleteVery well said, there was something missing. Maybe he wasn't charismatic enough. IDK what that is but some part of his "game" was awry.
ReplyDeletethought he was awkward as a face
ReplyDeleteBest of Mr. Anderson should be pretty sweet considering it should last under 2 minutes.
ReplyDeleteMicrophone drops...the end.
ReplyDeleteUnless it's 70's blaxplotation Power Man, I'm not interested.
ReplyDeleteI watched exactly 20 minutes of TNA and it was an Aces amd Eights segment and Brook Hogan was involved. And I thought to myself "nope". First impressions last a lifetime.
ReplyDeleteI noticed she was in wwe in that dance group expose with Kelly kelly and layla. That shit was hot.
ReplyDeletePerfect's matches with Hogan in early 1990, especially the MSG singles match, were some of Hogan's best... face v face Hart/Perfect at WM9 would have drawn millions
ReplyDeleteYeah! Christmas special of Bojack Horseman!
ReplyDeleteThe thing that would help TNA most is stopping Dixie being their spokesperson. She has no charisma and the stigma of making poor decisions with her company. Best thing would be to take her name and face off everything Impact related and hire somebody with some skill in promotion.
ReplyDeleteWhile TNA is done on Big channels in the U.S (unless somebody can think of any that would want even a successful wrestling promotion these days) they can start to make money if they just don't overspend, and learn the merch game.
That's not true. My first experience was watching A.J Styles wrestle Jerry Lynn so my first impression was pretty good, it did not last a lifetime.
ReplyDeleteLooks like TNA will be getting its own network after all.
ReplyDeletelol. He can learn the intricacies of how to try as little as possible!
ReplyDeleteI watched 20 minutes of RAW, and it was Michael Cole feuding with Jerry Lawler, and I said "nope". First impressions last a lifetime.
ReplyDeleteYou realize how idiotic that sounds? Every wrestling fed has more than their fair share of stupid stuff. Better for you to say "I never watched them" than to come up with a dumb excuse about how they didn't snag them in the 20 minutes you claimed to have seen them.
The problem with TNA was that they KEPT doing stupid stuff. The reason they're frustrating is because they've also shown themselves capable of doing some AMAZING stuff, but it was always stopped by tons of bad decision making.
They weren't good enough for the angle episode.
ReplyDeleteDo you think that tna doesn't own the rights to their own matches?
ReplyDeleteRon Van Dam always wears a suit and tie to the office.
ReplyDeleteWhat about hulksmashadam?
ReplyDeleteHeh. Didn't notice that.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading up on the history of TNA. The guy initially in charge of their PPV marketing and budget allowance was secretly also working for WWE and sabotaged them. He told Jarrett they had 80,000 PPV buys each week for the first couple weeks when it was really 10,000 to 12,000, and it made Jarrett spend way more than they would have. He was instantly fired and a lawsuit was filed. So they went right into the red heavily. And then they couldn't afford the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville and it got booked up so they moved to the hee haw Fairgrounds. And then they hired Russo. A brilliant start!
ReplyDeleteStarted with a massive fuck up, and proceeded to go downhill from there.
ReplyDeleteI'd heard the marketing guy story, but I didn't know there was evidence he was working for WWE.
Face Warrior vs Face Hogan was a box office disappointment, I doubt Perfect/Hart would've drawn jack.
ReplyDeleteHe was a babyface from August 2004 until March 2005 when he turned to face Taker at Mania..
ReplyDeleteHe wasn't anything more than that. Ever. The AWA was the TNA of the 80's. Curt Hennig was Robert Roode.
ReplyDeleteZiggler is winning the Rumble, IMO, and facing Brock at Mania. Reigns will end up with Rollins. Orton with Wyatt. Ambrose with Triple H. Sting with Taker.
ReplyDelete"CM Punk is my intellectual property".
ReplyDeleteRead the post I replied to. It doesn't say "CM Punk's matches are my intellectual property", it says "CM Punk is my intellectual property". Major difference there.
Ditto. I worked in athletic communications at a D1 school for two years and was a sportswriter for a year and a half. Stuff like this, especially from companies trying to pass themselves off as big deals, is flat out laughable.
ReplyDeleteAnd actually, the first could get her in hot water too. "CM Punk appearances in TNA are my intellectual property" would be the actual limit of her claims.
ReplyDeleteSo you think they can't use the name CM Punk? On matches he did in their promotion? Hilarious.
ReplyDeleteDont be mad.
ReplyDeleteCan they use the name? Well, if it's in relation to a past appearance or a throwaway remark, sure. Also, "CM Punk appearances in TNA" would cover his matches, I hope.
ReplyDeleteBut for the purposes of the ORIGINAL statement, "CM Punk is my intellectual property", Dixie/TNA CANNOT use his name to put out a new merchandise item, nor can they control or profit from when and where he uses said name, such as in the UFC.
Feel free to twist it some more, troll, but I'm done.
You may want to get your money back on your law degree.
ReplyDeleteAre we suggesting TNA have Phil Keoghan as its spokesperson?
ReplyDeleteWHy not? It beat the XFL in 2001!
ReplyDeleteSee, Spike dumping TNA was the worst thing to happen, as they MAY have gotten some new fans courtesy of #ISITSAFE???????????? and #SourTasteToMyMouth #TAR #AmazingRace #TeamBro
ReplyDeleteNOt as mean as Jim suggesting to kick Amy's shin on the season finale of The Amazing Race
ReplyDeleteI want Jenna to take on Kym Perfetto in a Knockouts Lumberjills match
ReplyDeleteI bet they hold Ambrose back because he's ugly as sin. Reigns I'd much prettier, and thus more marketable. A Lot of the new crop are good-looking dudes for the same reason.
ReplyDeleteThat's rather illogical on TSN's part. Do they even have enough content to fill 5 channels?
ReplyDeletetl;dr
ReplyDeleteVince Russo must be writing their press releases.
ReplyDeleteTNA dropped the ball on Stone Cold Shark Boy by not booking him to do at least one comedy skit with Kurt Angle.
ReplyDeleteThat Destination America logo is awful, almost looks as bad as the Comedy Central logo.
ReplyDeleteYeah noone gives a shit about your opinion because you don't watch it dumb ass
ReplyDeleteYeah just like wwe and roh should've died and why are you commenting on tna if you don't like it that's fucking stupid
ReplyDeleteYou're fucking stupid if you think thier only going to get 140, 00 viewers
ReplyDeleteWhat the fuck is telling you that their going to be shit just like early this year
ReplyDeleteFor the first show it's a pretty reasonable estimate.
ReplyDeleteNo its not you're just trying to say a low rating because you're probably one of those people who say shit about tna and doesn't even watch it and they'll get more than that
ReplyDeleteReaching out to bring back talent that left, offering ridiculous sums of money to former WWE talent...
ReplyDeleteSo reaching out to get talent that left is a bad thing? then you need help
ReplyDeleteYou really want to debate this, or are you one of those clueless TNA fans who think I hate the company so nothing I can say can possibly be right?
ReplyDeleteIt is a bad thing, but you wouldn't understand that so... we're done here.
ReplyDeleteNothing is the same old shit all it is is a best of show that doesn't mean anything
ReplyDeleteIts not a bad thing to try and get talent back and I do understand its you who doesn't understand
ReplyDeleteBecause a statement of fact = "I hate TNA?" No. Just telling it like it is.
ReplyDeleteYou just admitted you only watched 20 minutes of it you didn't watch the whole show so its fucking irrelevent
ReplyDeleteWM6 broke records at the box office
ReplyDelete
