HoF Questions

Hey Scott,

1) What do you think the chances are of someone like Meltzer, Keller, ever getting into the WWE HoF. On a related note, did Vince attend the '96 WON HoF when he was inducted?

2) Where do you stand on the Koko B. Ware Test?

1.  Attend what exactly?

2.  More importantly, does Test pass the Koko B. Ware Test?  Would that rename the rule the Test Test?

Had a good laugh with regards to Q1, thanks emailer!

  2. There were vignettes for a heel Razor and Undertaker match?

To add to that conversation though, a Ramon heel turn in 95 would have been a very logical decision as he held meaningful IC title victories over the top faces--HBK and Diesel.

  3. It's hilarious that this emailer thinks that Meltzer has induction ceremonies for his newsletter hall of fame.

Or that WWE would see any money in inducting dirt sheet writers in its Hall of Fame that only exists to squeeze a few more pennies out of the name value of old vets

    ReplyDelete
  4. Can we all finally accept that the WWE Hall of Fame is just an annual legends night and doesn't have a shred of legitimacy?

    ReplyDelete
  5. It's still real to me, damn it!

    ReplyDelete
  6. This is the first I'm hearing of this Razor/Undertaker program... now I really want to see it.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Once again. That's all that a hall of fame is.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Test does not pass the Koko B. Ware test, no.

  11. Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon-The Ladder Match Trilogy, this time for the World title.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Maybe they had houseshow matches, but there were no PPV or weekly TV matches AFAIR):

    Piper vs Flair WWF 1991/92
    Hogan vs Flair WWF 1992

    ReplyDelete
  13. Benoit vs CM Punk lol.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Both of those matches aired on TV in late 91.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Did they ever pull the trigger on Cena/Orton? If so that would've been awesome I think.

I won't rest until Battle Cat is in the HOF.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Wait, Dave doesn't invite the inductees over to his house to collect their non-existent plaques?

    ReplyDelete
  18. There was a heel turned planned for Razor? Details?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Basically, yeah. It doesn't mean that they're not somewhat entertaining. It doesn't mean that people who win them don't feel honored. But yeah. They are all just somewhat shallow "contests" with pre determined outcomes and lots of commercials for the most part.

    Just like the WWE!

    ReplyDelete
  20. That Backlund angle was awesome and from the looks of it, Bob really strapped it on that poor guy and had him flailing away like some helpless child. Was he really a writer for the WWF magazine?

    ReplyDelete
  21. He should, though. That would be hilarious. If it was just a family xmas dinner party with a few people standing around awkwardly waiting for the turkey to be done, drinking wine and listening to some crazy relative talk about how we didn't land on the moon.

  29. Were you a midcard to upper midcard act in the eighties boom? Are you also a minority during a year when we only have non minorities being inducted? Once those are a yes, did you draw even a little bit?

    Seems to be the test.

I'm not saying that all of the minorities inducted are subject to this test mind you. Ron Simmons absolutely deserved it IMO. Same with Abdullah, Tony Atlas, etc. But as far as I can surmise, that's the Koko test. I mean. Dude wasn't even on Rock and Wrestling.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I've said this a few times, but a heel turn for Razor in '96 also gives you the chance to run Ladder Match 3 against Shawn, for the big belt this time.

    ReplyDelete
  31. For me, Bret vs Luger at WM 10. Top 2 faces at the time, they even teased it both with the Co Winners thing at the Rumble, AND, Bret won the "Superstar of the year" trophy on Raw, and they even let Runner up Luger cut a promo beforehand because the voting was so close.

Plus, Yoko could have gone all out in 1 match at WM 10, instead of saving his energy for 2 sub par matches.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I can see where you are coming from but I still think Bret needed to beat Yoko for revenge after being screwed at least twice against him and Luger beating Yoko then losing clean to Bret would possibly hurt him more than the screwy finish that happened.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think they were right to hold of the Bret/Luger match because it would have been a better story with Bret finally beating Yoko and righting the wrong of WM9, but I think WWF should have set up a Bret/Luger program post WM and Luger should have been used in the Backlund spot.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Demolition vs LOD at Mania VII and Swap the Bret vs Backlund match at WM XI with Bret/Owen 3 a few Raws before.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I get the "revenge on Yoko" thing, but also from the "smark" perspective... 2 Yoko matches with 99% rest holds... YYAAWWNNN... Luger/Yoko proved at SummerSlam that they can have a solid match, but no way with 2 Yoko matches.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yep, Demolition lost ALL their steam when they turned heel.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hogan/Flair at Wrestlemania 8 was HUGE money left at the table I think.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The blend of naïveté and smarkiness is honestly heartwarming and adorable. Like he knows just enough to know the Koko test, but not enough to realize what the WONHoF is.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yep, and it was actually announced on TV and everything.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Pretty sure that would've happened had he not gone to WCW.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think Luger/Bret is a big enough match that you want to be able to build it and promote it ahead of time instead of a situation where it "could" happen.

    ReplyDelete
  42. If he stayed, Michaels first defense is blowing off the Diesel feud before he leaves for WCW, which is also Razor's last show.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Meltzer's HOF is more of an imaginary place than Vince's.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think Savage/Flair and Hogan/Sid (if only for the Warrior's return) worked out better than Hogan/Flair would have. U don't think many WWF fans circa 1992 would buy little Ric Flair as a threat to Hogan at WM anyway

    ReplyDelete
  45. That angle was so stupid, but if anyone could have pulled that off, Razor could have.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Exactly. And adding a 3rd unknown member didn't help the "dream feud" idea

    ReplyDelete
  47. Test is wrestling lifestyle related dead though. That's the bad dead.

    ReplyDelete
  48. The only plaque Metzler has is on his teeth. HA!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yep, and then it... never happened. Would have been perfect for KOTR, even though the "not ready yet" Diesel did a good job keeping up. Underrated match.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yep, as a mark, the moment the 3rd guy debuted, it was "They are admitting that they no longer have what it takes".

    ReplyDelete
  51. Before the Rumble, I agree. I was like "I heard of this Flair guy, but he can't possibly beat Hulk".

All of that changed after the Rumble. I was sold that Flair has a chance to somehow outlast him.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Damn! ;-) But they should have been on PPV.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Well he was the CHAMPION. How can the Champion not be a threat? And then there could have been the final Savage vs Roberts match and Undertaker vs Sid.

    ReplyDelete
  54. The Rumble definitley legitimized Flair for those of us WWF fans who had never heard of him prior to his arrival as the "real world's champion". But even then I didn't buy him as a threat to Hogan. Same with Bret in 1993 when, after WM9, it seemed as if they'd have a match. They're too small, brother!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Who cares if he was the champion? What type of argument is that?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Were they? Like on the MSG network or something? Don't recall either.

    ReplyDelete
  57. WWE Hall of Fame. As legitimate as the Slammys.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Day two of paid unemployment:

It's still raining outside. Feel restless. Don't feel like working on my car. Don't feel like working on the upstairs bathroom. Don't want to go buy a futon. The futon would really bring the basement together. We'll see how the day goes.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Bret vs. Narcissist Luger ... 93 was horrible and Luger was one of the few interesting guys, and him knocking guys out with his gimmick's steel plate forearm was awesome. Luger was still in a place where a real worker like Hart could carry him as a heel.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Didn't Hogan and Flair bomb on the house show circuit and Vince freaked out because he had a dome to fill?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Was anyone having trouble accepting that to begin with? What more is it supposed to be than that?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Gotta blame Bret for that debacle.

    ReplyDelete
  63. ''Dude wasn't even on Rock and Wrestling.''

    Piledriver!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Test is a minority. He's Canadien!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I say this all the time but RVD vs. Mike Awesome was SO CLOSE to happening in 2000.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Was scheduled for Wrestlemania XI, got changed to er...Bundy vs. Undertaker and Ramon vs. Jarrett part 3.

    Ramon wasn't happy.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Bret Hart would happily accept that plaque.

    ReplyDelete
  68. If that's true, that's a dumb move. I'll mention what I did earlier, this was Pre-Rumble Flair. I didn't buy him as a threat either until he outlasted 28 guys in the same match. So in the eyes of WWF fans, Pre-Rumble and Post-Rumble Flair were 2 totally different stories.

    ReplyDelete
  69. That's dumb. At least his is voted on by a panel

    ReplyDelete
  70. Exactly - anyone that couldn't figure a way to make Flair/Hogan work in 91 shouldn't be booking.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Yeah WWF should have tried to get one of them to stay at least a month longer.

    ReplyDelete
  72. But there's no ceremony, no location, and some would argue that it is just as political/arbitrary as Vince's.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I still think they should have had Flair vs Hogan at WM8. I'm sure they would have gotten the attention of ALL wrestling fans in the country. They should have had Savage vs Sid as well. THEN a few months later they could have done the Savage/Flair feud at Summer Slam.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Yep, or finishing the Sid/Taker, and Savage/Jake feuds would have worked too. Strange how they changed it all up before Mania.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Did macho man vs mr. Perfect ever almost happened?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Yeah, I always hear that Hulk should have put over Bret, and even if Hogan did agree to it, it just wouldn't have worked due to the different styles of both guys. Savage putting Bret over would have done a lot more to legitimize Bret than Hogan putting Bret over.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I think the reason it worked so well in WCW was because WCW fans knew Flair was God and they were fully aware of Hulk's repuation as #1 wrestling guy whereas in WWF the WWF fans brought Hulk as God and Flair was a guy some fans had never heard of before.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I guess I remain confused over what some people want the WWE HOF to be. Aside from that it would be cool if there was a physical location, does anyone really not enjoy the HOF show? Is anyone really so up their own ass with how jaded and snarky they are that they actually don't enjoy the HOF show?

Yes, it's entirely arbitrary and political; of course it is. But I guess I have no problem getting behind a show that provides multiple genuinely emotional moments honoring wrestling's past every year as a big part of the WM weekend. Maybe that makes me the weird one. I don't know.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Oh yeah, that's a dream match that SHOULD have happened too. They may have had a match in WCW, but it would have been big business if they feuded in the WWF.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Speaking of Scherer has he stopped bugging Brian?

    ReplyDelete
  81. There IS an induction ceremony, but it's just Melzer inviting the inductee over for an afternoon of Schlitz drinking and bicep curls while he explains to them that while their matches were okay, the ones in Japan were WAY better. Then he just awkwardly stops talking and doesn't say anything else until they leave.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I find this attitude baffling. Please explain to me what a "legitimate" wrestling Hall of Fame would be (aside from an actual physical location). By what criteria do you feel people should be in the HoF? Win/loss record? Title reigns? Attendance drawn? Is it because Vince decides and not the fans? Because it's political? What "legitimate" HoF out there *isn't* somewhat political in nature?

The WWE Hall of Fame has exactly as much meaning as we fans imbue it with. It'll never be perfect, and yes it'll be nice if & when they make it an actual place you can visit, but it's stupid to dismiss it entirely. You really refuse to employ it as a means to pay respect to past stars of the business because it's not "legitimate"?

    ReplyDelete
  83. This guy gets it.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I not only enjoy their fake hall of fame, but I also wish they'd bring back their fake championship committee, maybe make some fake top ten rankings, and in general get back to being a fake sport.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Minor TJ: If you create Benoit on WWE2k15, you'll get a two week ban.

    www.dualshockers.com/2014/12/06/if-you-create-a-chris-benoit-character-in-wwe-2k15-you-will-be-banned-for-two-weeks/

    ReplyDelete
  86. I guess innovation, importance to The One Continuing Storyline That is Pro Wrestling, money drawn, memory in pop culture, etc. Of course, the problem is that there are a ton of other equally valid sets of criteria. It's best to just look at it as a storyline HoF.

    ReplyDelete
  87. You're approaching me as if I believe there would ever be such thing as a legitimate wrestling Hall of Fame as selected solely by the organization by which it represents..

What WWE has is an annual series of lifetime achievement awards with no actual hall. Which is fine. As a lifetime achievement awards ceremony selected by committee, it's actually pretty sound. Have a problem with someone not receiving a lifetime achievement award? That's cool. Because it's just a list of people who have won an award. Not an actual pantheon (as non-existent as it may be beyond a web page) meant to reflect the history of the business.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Dirt sheet guys getting into any HOF? Not happening.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Surprised they don't kill your account.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Bret vs El Dandy was a match I always looked forward to...

    ReplyDelete
  91. And mail you cords from a Bowflex? Or whatever brand he used?

    ReplyDelete
  92. I don't have the best insight for that, I grew up in the DC area - right on the border of NWA/WCW and WWF so I saw both all the time. I knew exactly who Flair was and even then little 11 year old Flash Man wondered why Flair and Hogan weren't headlining WM.

    ReplyDelete
  93. It's outlined in that book Titan Sinking that Scott has talked about.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I'm thinking the same thing for Triple and HBK ...

    ReplyDelete
  95. Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame*:

"The thing about it--and I'm sure most would agree--is if you look at it from the idea... in terms of how it's conceived... and remember this was... I mean if you take... say you take a period... like the glory days of All Japan... if you were to ask Baba... or a better example would be Misawa and... I mean of course not everyone would agree... but like Kobashi... if you take what they drew... but of course the thing of that is... well it is what it is, you know what I mean? So at the end of the day you have to--and this is why the ballot--you have to take into account... and I'm not sure if everyone can. Or if they should. You know?"

    (* not really)

    ReplyDelete
  96. That's such bullshit. I understand why they can't put him in the game themselves, but they're not "liable" or whatever for fans using it. They shouldn't be policing tastefulness.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I bet. One wonders what a rejuvinated heel Razor could have done especially with babyface Diesel as champ. Give Razor the push to Summerslam instead of Mabel, it could have been amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Surely Razor would have been revealed to have a fear of caskets to.

    ReplyDelete
  99. the WWE Hall of Fame seems to really mean a lot to the wrestlers that actually get int it, doesn't it? Cooperstown it ain't, but there is some legimitacy to it if its been used to help make peace with guys like Warrior and Bret Hart.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I don't know if I'd go that far, and I don't know if you're trolling me or are serious. I guess it wouldn't bother me if they did that stuff, but generally speaking the matches themselves are all I need in terms of pro wrestling presenting itself as a sport.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I never heard about this Undertaker-Ramon plan.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Match would've been great for ECW. With Van Dam on top they may have lasted longer.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I don't know what the Koko B Ware test is but that first question is ridiculous

    ReplyDelete
  104. Well, Warrior burying the hatchet was apparently more about securing a financial future for his family than the induction. Bret? Who knows? Maybe?

It's what you make of it, but I know there's been a few wrestlers who said it was just an excuse to dress fancy and have a free steak dinner. They didn't see it as anything more than that and I think one said he lost/threw away his ring. Some guys care and some don't.

Not surprising, since it's less a HoF and more a Hall of Who Are We On Good Terms With That Would Be Politically Expedient To Publicly Recognize.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I think I read that any custom creation you upload onto any game server becomes the game maker's property, so it's as though they're putting him in the game. Stupid, I know but that's how it works

    ReplyDelete
  106. Why would that be trolling? I want the long con, I want dedication to the bit.

    ReplyDelete
  107. At some point between WM25 and WM26, we really should have gotten "DX" vs. "Brothers of Destruction".

    ReplyDelete
  108. Fuck you, Dave. Let Sting in your HOF!

    ReplyDelete
  109. I was listening to the place to be podcast of WM IX- WM X and they put over how good a heel Yoko was for that time period but I was thinking the same thing we missed out a few potential great matches due to the Yoko push.

You could have put Luger over Hogan at KOR and you lose all that lame Lex Express, Yoko can still do all the stuff he did with Taker and then you can have Bret/Lex...

or you could even do the Lex Express stuff and have him go over Yoko at Summer Slam and then turn on the fans.. "I only did all that to get this... and now I have it and I don't need america or you fans.... because I have the whole world in my hands..."

    ReplyDelete
  110. Wrestlemania 8 should have been:

Hogan v Flair - World Title
    Savage v Roberts
Hart v Piper - IC Title
    Sid v Taker
    HBK v Jannetty

and then you can leave the rest. BUt that would have been one of the best cards ever.

  111. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessDecember 9, 2014 at 10:54 AM

That's... a questionable policy, especially with a two-week ban involved. If you're going to allow fan creations, you're opening yourself up to someone doing something some may find tactless or tasteless. Put up a disclaimer that fan creations don't represent the companies involved and move on.

What if I create an Invader 1? Are they OK with that?

    ReplyDelete
  112. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessDecember 9, 2014 at 10:57 AM

I wonder, if Scott started posting the names of the people asking these questions, would the more ridiculous ones start to die out because of the mocking the letter writer would receive?

Conversely, is Scott just making up questions to answer like advice columnists sometimes do?

    ReplyDelete
  113. They both happened on the MSG network. Piper/Flair is on the network, under video vault there are a few of the MSG shows and one of them is the Piper/Flair match.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Ultimate Warrior vs Goldberg! Smell the work rate and awesome promos!

    ReplyDelete
  115. All the grief Koko B. Ware gets for being a Hall of Famer should instead be directed at Mike and Chris Von Erich.

    ReplyDelete
  116. All Dave can do is put people on the ballot. Sting's on the ballot every year, he just doesn't get the votes.

    ReplyDelete
  117. They probably would have no damn clue what you're creating, and would not give a shit.

    ReplyDelete
  118. HOGAN V AUSTIN - WM X18 - they always could have done the Rock later... this is was the one that I wanted to see.

    DX v Outsiders

    HBK v Eddie
    HBK v Brock

    ....

Austin V Brock ...unannounced, with no build on RAW...

    ReplyDelete
  119. THIS. Now this is a good one I hadn't thought of.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Yeah it's ridiculous, someone should create and upload Hitler and see how they feel about that

    ReplyDelete
  121. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessDecember 9, 2014 at 11:10 AM

I think Piper-Flair happened in October, with Hogan-Flair in November and/or December at MSG. I went to at least one of the Hogan-Flair matches at the Garden.

    ReplyDelete
  122. I always wished Savage had won the '93 Rumble so we could get Bret vs. Savage at WrestleMania IX. There's an interview somewhere from the 90's (I think during the build-up to WrestleMania 12) where he compared Shawn Michaels to Randy Savage as being that one guy waiting in the wings to give him his biggest challenge. He thought at one point he'd have to face Savage back in 93-94, but it never happened.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessDecember 9, 2014 at 11:13 AM

I honestly don't care about taking Benoit avatars off the community pages, as it's a company policy and it seems like what the family wants as well, but banning people for doing it is a bit much. Take the creation down, explain the reasoning why and move on. Repeat offenders, sure, ban them, but a first offense on something people probably don't know about seems excessive.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Brock vs Bryan from this year would have been awesome

    ReplyDelete
  125. According to Uproxx, they have.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessDecember 9, 2014 at 11:14 AM

And it should have ended the same way, Hogan coming in to complain about Savage's win and leg dropping him back to the broadcast booth and taking the title!

    ReplyDelete
  127. I could not possibly craft these emails myself.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Watching RAW from 1995 it's amazing that the Megapowers v Sting/Luger didn't happen. It seems like they were even building to it at one point and then it just went side ways. Im surprised it didn't come to this in early 1996..

Hogan: "LOD you just returned but I have all the momentum give me your title shot, the tag team titles still have my name on them, even though I've never won them... "

  132. From a kayfabe stand point they gotta the two most badass wrestlers of all time. I wonder who would have jobbed. Has either one lost a match clean

    ReplyDelete
  133. Wrestlemania 13 planted the seeds for a Bret Hart/Ken Shamrock program that never materialized. I actually think that could have been an awesome match.

Baker's emails at least have some level of car crash enjoyment to them, they're so out there you can't help but be amused. This email was not on Jesse's level.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessDecember 9, 2014 at 11:28 AM

I still say they should have just gone bat shit with it and headlined a PPV with a triple threat match between Sting/Luger, the LOD and the MegaPowers. Even if it was a round-robin format, it probably would have done gangbusters.

    ReplyDelete
  139. They filmed vignettes after the Rumble with Ramon threatening Taker, and then one with Taker appearing and chokeslamming Razor into an open grave to kick it off officially. Then Vince decided that Bundy would somehow draw bigger. Because reasons.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessDecember 9, 2014 at 11:36 AM

And we think Vince is out of touch NOW. He must have been suffering from a brain injury in 1995 with the potential he had going to waste.

    ReplyDelete
  141. I like the idea of Vince and others just showing up at Dave's house for their induction

    ReplyDelete
  142. They did have a match about a month before Montreal. Bret tapped to the anklelock with the ref bumped. That's all I remember.

    ReplyDelete

  144. It's shocking that we never got HBK Vs The Rock. Can't recall if it ever 'almost happened' but man, that would have been a match

    ReplyDelete
  145. Still hoping for that one

    ReplyDelete
  146. Good point - I don't think either of them ever did a totally clean job. Good trivia question - anyone else that hasn't ever laid down totally clean?

    ReplyDelete
  147. Yeah i Know, he didnt think Hogan could keep up. I think he kind of regrets it now.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Well back then, the champion was the man - and Ric Flair was the dirtiest player in the game.

    ReplyDelete
  149. I wonder what would happen if I created Daniel Benoit.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Not entirely related to the topic at hand, but this is something that always annoys me when wrestlers complain about smarks being know-it-alls. WE WANT TO BE WORKED. WORK US.

    ReplyDelete
  151. What if you gave R Truth a bird - is he still on drugs?

    ReplyDelete
  152. Right... WCW seemed to be trying to throw every dream match they could think of to pop a rating. I surprised they didnt pull something like this... Hogan v The Roadwarriors? Im not even a huge fan of either of them but that's something id like to see. A whole lotta no selling..

    ReplyDelete
  153. IT WAS okayish, probably *** 1/2 off Bret wrestling himself.

    ReplyDelete
  154. No. The plan was always to keep the Outlaws as champs.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Well that basically what Hogan did in WCW whenever Savage won the belt... "That's my belt... that's my title shot...' Mine. Mine. Mine. What a whiny baby Hogan was.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessDecember 9, 2014 at 11:57 AM

Savage only ever lost World Titles to two people in WWF or WCW: Hogan or Flair.

  157. Nobody in WWE is on drugs. There's a Wellness Policy now.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Streamboat v HBK... could have happened 1991.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Wow. You're right.... Has Savage EVER beaten Hogan? I know he got a countout win early in his WWF run but I'm pretty sure thats it.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Pretty sure the Wellness Policy guys get their drugs from Adam Rose in exchange for clean piss

    ReplyDelete
  161. No against Hogan. He also said no against Brock too.

    ReplyDelete
  162. The only problem with Megapowers vs. Sting and Lex at Starrcade is who do you put in the co main and undercard? Sure, you could do the NJPW thing but conventional wisdom would say you need another match or two to round out the card. Flair would have no viable face to work with. That's the only problem with a match like that.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Savage/Goldberg...their paths never crossed.

    ReplyDelete
  164. SportsCenter's coverage of Scam Newton at the hospital is quickly reaching 'Eric Bischoff at the Medical Facility' levels of annoying.

  165. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessDecember 9, 2014 at 12:14 PM

I can't remember Hogan ever laying down for Savage, but I gave up on WCW around 1998 (lack of cable in college), so I may have missed something. I doubt it, though.

    ReplyDelete
  166. For me, two other Megapowers matches would have been good: Megapowers versus the Brain Busters and Megapowers versus the Hart Foundation... the latter of which almost happened. The Megapowers and the Hart Foundation (with Honky) fought in a mini battle royal following a Savage/Honky match, but it led to a (fantastic) Savage/Hart match instead of a tag match.

  167. NOBODY IN WWE IS ON DRUGS!!! WELLNESS POLICY!!! VINCE TOLD ME!!!

Except for CM Punk. That bastard was always high. That's why WWE had to can his ass.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Had he not of failed a drug test, or was suspended for giving notice, or whichever it actually was, they were doing Razor loses the IC title vs Goldust and a rematch at Wrestlemania, literally the same angle he did the year before with Jarrett. He's a guy who's face act got old fast. When he beat Dean Douglas for the IC belt I wasn't even pissed Douglas lost it after just winning it, I was just tired of Razor Ramon.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Supposedly supposed to happen before Eddie died? I can't remember who said that. All I've ever heard Shawn say about that Wrestlemania was he didn't want to be in one of the top matches.

    ReplyDelete
  170. They could have pulled an old school WCW move and given Flair a Japanese guy. If they were selling the card with Megapowers vs Sting and Luger maybe they could have put on a Flair/Lyger match. I know that would have made me very happy.

    ReplyDelete
  171. It happened a lot in early 98, under way different conditions of course.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Some people refer to her as whale-like. She's hot as fuck.

  173. IYH: LET'S GO CENA CENA SUCKS LET'S GO CENA CENA SUCKS LET'S GO CENA CENA SUCKS

  174. Yeah, but in Kayfabe it appeared we were headed toward the Hardcore Buddies vs. the LOD. This doesn't sound too appealing now, but I was excited about that prospect at the time.

    ReplyDelete
  175. I hate when you buy brand new blu rays and they're scratched

    ReplyDelete
  176. Just checked the thread. I'm not mad or anything, but more like "did he actually say that?"

    ReplyDelete
  177. pot. kettle. black.

  178. This email....what the heck?

    ReplyDelete
  179. My guess would be late March/early April per usual, around or even on WrestleMania weekend

    ReplyDelete
  180. My memory is fuzzy - was it Hogan or Sting that stole an ambulance to get back to the arena? I know both made it back with impeccable timing so as not to jeopardize their title matches.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Oh shit, look who stopped bothering indie wrestlers with awful storyline pitches long enough to show up on the BOD. Hey man!

    ReplyDelete
  182. Just saw one. Ended with Sting, Luger, Flair and Bret fighting off the nWo. Those guys vs Hogan, Hall, Nash and Savage would've been a War Games with some star power.

    ReplyDelete
  183. If it was WWE they'd be friends again next week with zero explanation.

    ReplyDelete
  184. Both? Hogan vs Flair in 94, and Sting vs Rude in 92? I remember Sting being hurt and losing a title to Rude.

    ReplyDelete
  185. Iron Sheik's speech alone warrants the existence of the Hall of Fame. What a joyful, funny time that was.

    ReplyDelete
  186. where? I need to see this

    ReplyDelete
  187. YankeesHoganTripleHFanDecember 9, 2014 at 12:44 PM

If Razor did that, it would have actually made sense and fit with the character.

    ReplyDelete
  188. It's a damn shame that neither Brutus or Bossman got an IC title run like they deserved. Nowadays they each wpuls have been 5 timè champions.

    ReplyDelete
  189. The Cat went on TV and said she didn't wear underwear, so they had to do something to follow up on that at the pay per view? Jesus, if only they cared that much about continuity all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  190. Yeah, both did it. I think Sting stole a regular car, while Hogan took the whole damn ambulance.

    ReplyDelete
  191. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessDecember 9, 2014 at 1:05 PM

Oh, Sting commandeered an ambulance, too, I believe.

    ReplyDelete
  192. It looks like Sojo Bolt from TNA but I'm not sure.

    ReplyDelete
  193. "...and then Stephanie will threaten to fire Big Show if he doesn't knock out Daniel Bryan!"
"Uhh, doesn't Big Show have an iron-clad contract where they can't fire him?"
"What? Oh yeah. Ahh, nobody's gonna remember that. ... OK, so THEN we bring in Dusty..."
