All of our ideas were better than what they did, and will do.

  2. The WWE is in a dire straights type deal. They pissed away Bryan when he was uber hot, lost Punk (who was the glue holding a lot of shit together) for good, put the belt on lazy fuck Brock Lenser and let him be missing in action, keep pushing Cena and the worthless piece of shit Ryback, and failed to capitalize on Ambrose and Ziggler and talentless fuck two (Roman Reigns) is on the horizon to be shoved down our throats. The only non-shit thing is that they Seth Rollins but he's floundering without a legit good guy to face and you just know they will make him the ritual sacrifice for Reigns when he comes back

Losing Punk, losing Bryan indefinitely, failing to do something interestng with Rollins and Ambrose (and putting all of their eggs in the bullshit Reigns basket), not ending the Authority at Wrestlemania, and the supreme retardation of putting the belt on Brock have driven the company to new lows not seen in ages.

At this rate, they might as well just fucking kill NXT and merge it with the actual WWE. God knows they can use them to fill an hour or two on Raw and give people wrestlers and storylines people give a fuck about.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Losing Punk and pissing away their chances with Bryan as top guy has fucking killed things. Seriously killed things. Punk was the glue and Bryan was their last best fucking chance to replace Cena. And Zigglers been rendered damaged goods by all of the jobbing he's done and Ambrose is neutered beyond belief.

  4. "pissing away their chances with Bryan as top guy "

I think Bryan's injury has had more to do with that than the WWE themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I know most would see that statement as arrogant, but how Fucked is their current creative if they are booking finishes like this?

    1) TV screen is not a common foreign object so why pick this as your way to end a match at a TLC event?
    2) It makes Ambrose look like a fucking moron for doing this to himself.
    3) It makes Wyatt seem ineffective since it was a complete fluke, so much for the manipulative evil cult leader he started as.
    4) Wyatt didn't screw Ambrose, Ambrose screwed himself in a really stupid way, so where's the heat?

That's just the few things that came into my head after reading this finish.

How many backstage are just waiting for NXT to grab an icepack or not shake the Undertaker's hand?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Shit, after watching this show I wouldn't blame Zayn or Balor if they reached for an icepack at a house show just so they could get sent back to Full Sail.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Vince: "Man I'm so glad I said yes when that sales guy at Best Buy asked me if I wanted extended warranty on the TV."

    ReplyDelete
  9. In their heads, they both still over because it was a fluke finish. Unfortunately it doesn't work like that.

    "TLC Disappoints"

I really don't understand why people were expecting better. The matches that we thought would deliver delivered. The matches we thought would suck sucked. And the matches that we knew would make no sense made no sense.

No matter what happened Thursday night, we were always getting what we got last night.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Serious question: why do people watch this anymore? Is it a hate-watch thing? Because it's not going to get better any time soon. Whatever efforts the wrestlers make will always be undone by the awful booking.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Ambrose and Bray outperformed my expectations and Cena/Rollins way underperformed what I was expecting.

Ambrose and Bray had a good & violent match that I really enjoyed as the main event. The goofy ending hurt it of course but the 20 minutes preceding it were good and I was very impressed by both guys.

Cena and Rollins just stunk it up. I thought it was legitimately a bad match. Both guys are good too which makes it even more surprising. I didn't enjoy it at all.

Aside from those two matches, my expectations were met. Ziggler & Harper was as good as expected. I expected to skip the rest of the card and I lived up to those expectations by fast forwarding through the other matches.

It was a Tables match, and one that didn't feature the Dudleys, Hardys or E&C. When was the last GOOD tables match? Any pace of the match is ruined by the rules of the match, just like a ladder match and any other match that requires the wrestlers to set up props.

Somewhere along the way, the WWE lost its nuance, which is proven every week by the announce team, the promos and the matches. I wonder if the WWE ever does focus groups and, if so, do those focus groups tell them how annoying Cole, King and JBL are?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I think its time to put TLC to bed as a PPV theme. 3 hours of the same type of matches is boring.

    ReplyDelete
  15. So does Ambrose get stuck inside the tumbler at Royal Rumble and never makes it to the ring? Or does he get eliminated by an exploding cell phone? You never know with this goof!

There are bright spots, and there are fun moments, but very few of those bright spots were featured last night, or at least they were spotlighted poorly. Right now, where we are today, is a down period brought about by a roster that lost its two most popular people at the front half of the calendar year. Punk quitting and Bryan getting injured caused a lot of changes.

I would have loved a build up towards Bryan-Lesnar, or Punk going one-on-one with Rollins, Ambrose or Wyatt.

We are, at this moment, though, at the tail end of 1994 going into 1995. We can stick it out and keep watching, knowing the business is cyclical and that an upswing WILL eventually come, or we can give up on it and focus on something else that may not frustrate us as much.

Thankfully, we can see some of the future coming with NXT.

Wipe out all themed PPVs, with the exception of the Rumble and Survivor Series, actually use the elimination matches at Survivor Series to build stories and save the gimmick matches for when the FEUD and STORY dictates, not the calendar.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Move EC to December. Every other gimmick on an as-needed basis.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I don't know if it's the worst PPV of the year but it was definitely the most disappointing. Kane and Big Show are just dragging down anyone they are paired with.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessDecember 15, 2014 at 5:48 AM

No! No, no, no, no, no!

If we're going to have EC as a regular PPV (that, for reasons that I still don't understand isn't at Survivor Series), use it in the summer to set up a Main Event at the SummerSlam.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm a little disappointed Kane-Ryback wasn't worse. I was honestly hoping for Taker-Yoko awfulness. Luckily Show-Rowan delivered.

    ReplyDelete
  22. As long as it's in the third part of the year I'm good. No aimless fall wandering if we've got a goal like WM or Summerslam.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I doubt they do focus groups. As long as Vince is happy with the announcers then that's that.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessDecember 15, 2014 at 5:53 AM

They should probably do a focus group...

    ReplyDelete
  25. As a GROUP wwe can hardly FOCUS.

    Heh. Word play.

    ReplyDelete
  26. OH! Rhodes Scholars vs. Rey and Sin Cara TLC 2012 at Barclays. Awesome tables match.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessDecember 15, 2014 at 5:57 AM

Thanks for rubbing it in that I didn't go to that show.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I couldn't remember if it was Survivor Series 2011 or TLC 2012 that you didn't go to so I didn't wanna rub in the wrong show lol.

And The Shield's ***** debut AND Ziggler beating Cena in a great ladder match? You botched that one bud!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I would imagine they carefully select the focus groups from only the most enthusastic fans of the current product.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The Vince Jordan's of the world I presume.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessDecember 15, 2014 at 6:01 AM

It was both of them. SurSer 2011 I had just moved to NYC and was unemployed, so there was no spending tons of money I didn't have. For TLC 2012, I got invited to a live-action rendition of Charlie Brown Christmas, ironically not far down the street from Barclays.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessDecember 15, 2014 at 6:02 AM

Hopefully, they would staff out the focus group to a company that does them professionally...

    ReplyDelete
  33. Has there been a Barclays PPV since then? I'm guessing you should hit up the next Barclays PPV because the crowds are hot and WWE usually brings their A-game to NYC. Plus, the last two PPV's you nearly went to were awesome. Don't wanna make it a 3rd "ah I could have been there!"

I've had pretty easy access to the past however many SummerSlam shows. SF to LA is a short flight but I've never been motivated to go and I'm a cheap bastard.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I no longer watch Kane or Big Show matches. I've been doing so for the past month or so and I've never been healthier. I've actually lost 10 pounds on the No Show diet. And I'm happier!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Nah. He's (supposedly) unhappy with how Cesaro's been treated...he'd be classified as "too negative".

    ReplyDelete
  36. Unhappy with Cesaro's treatment? We'll make a smark out of VJ yet!

    ReplyDelete
  37. He points at the WrestleMania sign during the match only for it to shoot a lightening only at him and he goes into convulsions(allowing for some patented wacky Dean Ambrose selling shenanigans) leading to him flipping over the top rope himself.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Setting up Dean Ambrose vs The Arena at Wrestlemania.

    ReplyDelete
  39. After being electrocuted by the TV and Sign his new nickname will be the Lunatic Singe.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I didn't watch the show last night, but I'm wondering....

Was it hurt by knowing the roster was motivated by the great NXT show or was it just really bad on its own?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I mean those who watch every Raw all the way through. Like you I pick and choose the stuff that's likely to be decent and will check out anything of note, but can't understand watching something you know is going to suck.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh god watching RAW every week should put you on an FBI watch list because it's the action of a psychopath and a sadist and a kitten stomper. 3 Hours is brutal and to do it weekly? Poison.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I choose to believe that most of the 3 and a half million people left in that 3rd hour have all just fallen asleep and were unable to change the channel.

    ReplyDelete
  44. You choose to believe in a brighter America and I will now believe with you.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Exactly. There's a show in the UK called WWE experience which condenses Raw and Smackdown down to an hour and I mostly can't bring myself to watch that. Renee Young presents it though, which is a draw.

    ReplyDelete
  46. They should have let the NXT guys have their own elimination match at Survivor Series.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Terrible on its own. The roster wasn't anymore motivated than ever. This would have sucked even if NXT didn't exist.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Worst WWE Network Special of the year

    ReplyDelete
  49. Put the MITB ladder match back at WrestleMania.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Dead corpses who have had USAon for days just waiting to be found.

    ReplyDelete
  51. A stairs match. Really now. TNA once had a HARDCORE CHAMBER OF BLOOD match. I can't remember what on earth it was, but it sounds cooler than a "stairs match" which is the worst type of match I've ever heard of.

    Stairs match. Fuck off.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I've seen better matches from both that didn't have to end with the dumbest finish ever. Hey Bray and AMBROSE can have a good match. Being surprised by that is almost as stupid as having a TV explode in Ambrose's face costing him a match.

    ReplyDelete
  53. He gets distracted y the shiny ring bell and jumps over the top rope to go touch it.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Things I learned from last night:

    1. Clearly, the stairs are on HGH.
    2. When Ambrose gets future endeavored he may want to avoid working for Best Buy.
    3. Blood is thicker than water. Bullshit is thicker than blood.
    4. I don't know if you know this, but Roman Reigns is the superstar of the year...?
    5. The people of Cleveland really had a bad day altogether.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I think its time to scale back the PPVs to just every other month. They've basically gutted the PPV market with the network anyways. But seriously its obvious they didn't have shit here as all night matches either had bad finishes to extend the feuds, no finish at all or retreads of matches we'd already seen. I saw zero point in these guys risking serious injury for this kind of pointless booking that helped no one and went nowhere especially with the roster stretched as thin as it is.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Ziggler and Harper were out there killing themselves for no reason whatsoever. To show up some punks from NXT? Please.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I bet theres one guy who reads Scotts sporting news article just to get his wrestling fix and doesnt go anywhere else wondering. "Man this guy must really hate wrestling."

    ReplyDelete
  58. Ambrose's motivation v. Rollins: You stabbed me in the back, so I'm making your life a living hell.
Ambrose's motivation v. Wyatt: Only Tupac should use holograms?

One of my old bosses used to say, "If you have to explain it to me, it doesn't work."
And so many of these "storylines" require more than a one-sentence explanation, which is a bad sign.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I have to go with that one with the main event being the fatal fourway with Cena winning. Im still recovering from that one.

    ReplyDelete
  60. 'I'm really motivated to show what I can do on the big stage. This is my chance to shine!'

'Erick, here's your booking sheet. You're jobbing to the stairs and being made to look like a doofus'

    'I've stopped caring'

    ReplyDelete
  61. I do wonder whether Sporting News was aware when they hired Scott this past year that Scott almost never watches the TV and hates the current product. Whenever I see his PPV preview pieces I imagine he’s just been frantically googling the current storylines to find out what’s actually been going on.

    ReplyDelete
  62. "Wyatt screwed up Ambrose's revenge on Rollins."

    ReplyDelete
  63. Can't wait to see which mid-carder screws up Ambrose's revenge on Wyatt!

    ReplyDelete
  64. This time it was a TV.

    ReplyDelete
  65. None of the gimmick matches went above & beyond their gimmicks--save perhaps for Ziggler/Harper, who apparently figured injuring themselves for real would count as "stepping it up". Otherwise all the action was exactly what you'd expect in each of the matches. It was basically an extra-violent installment of RAW.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I dont think hes actually had one positive article about the WWE since he started writing for the Sporting news. Hes completely justified and I find it funny as hell. I just find it amusing that there could be a passing reader here or there reading it and thinking "im glad I stopped watching years ago."

    ReplyDelete
  67. I literally groaned out loud when Kane came out for his match, because I'd forgotten he was on the show, and still couldn't remember who he was facing. Then Ryback came out and I groaned again.

    ReplyDelete
  68. They have to build up show though so he and reigns can rock the house.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I think they should run NXT PPVs every other month opposite the main ones.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Not a fan of "the big guy" I take it.

    ReplyDelete
  71. At least it presents reasons, albeit flimsy ones. It beats the Sheamus plan of just random matches.

    ReplyDelete
  72. They have a talented roster and can put together good matches. The creative side has been dreadful the past few months. With The Rumble coming up soon and the road to WM beginning, it gives me hope things will turn around

    ReplyDelete
  73. I did too. I was kinda hoping it would main event.

    ReplyDelete
  74. How much crazier would the crowd have become had they just kept Roman Reigns OFF television the whole time?

    ReplyDelete
  75. BEELEEDAT!

Reigns is at the point of his push where you feud with Big Show. He is obviously THE guy and they think beating Big Show will give Reigns a serious rub.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Why does that take the emphasis off of what was originally on your mind? Why not just tell Wyatt to fuck off? Why not continue interfering in ROLLINS matches? It's a reasy for their feud, but it's a really dumb reason.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I wouldn't mind Roman knocking Big Show out with a Superman punch.

    ReplyDelete
  78. He's had plenty of positive Sporting News articles.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Just finished watching it and it did nothing for me. I was just wincing watching Ziggler and Harper killing themselves in a match opening the show with no real history. What happened to Ziggler being the sole survivor ending the last PPV? How did he get to opening the show within three weeks?

Cena/Rollins was just a mess. The disagreeing refs was embarassing and so forced. I just sighed when Big Show came down and the predictable Reigns run in just made me shrug my shoulders.

I couldn't even get into the main event. I liked Ambrose and Wyatt been given the main event and there wasn't anything wrong effort wise I was just sick of weapon based stunts by then. And that ending... Ambrose was on fire going after Rollins but since then he has just been booked to shit. Any momentum from the Shield breakup has been pissed away.

I think the NXT show did play a part, as I only watched that last night. Seeing people celebrate with such passion for Zayn winning the title was a million miles away from the reactions the main roster gets. Nobody cares because we have shit like a restarted table match to try and keep some heat on another Cena conquest and the main event ending with an exploding tv.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I always hated the Survivor Series. The whole idea that all babyfaces were friends--the same with heels--and putting them in a big match together.

With RAW already running 3 hours every week, and the star power so weak right now, they should keep the Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam & Survivor Series as full PPVs. The other 8 months they just do 2 hour specials like NXT. Have the main event at Survivor Series be a Hell in A Cell, Elimination Chamber or TLC match. Once they get some depth back in the talent roster then start expanding the shows back to 3 hours.

    ReplyDelete
  81. It doesn't really bother me as we'd gotten four months of Ambrose-Rollins including a Hell in a Cell match. It was time to split them up. The ghost was obviously unsatisfactory, but it's a means to an end for me.

    ReplyDelete
  82. That might be a cool visual. Too bad there will be a shitty match before you get to it. And a completely wasted month of Reigns fighting Big Show. Further killing the crowd on Reogns because everyone is programmed not to care about Big Show.

    ReplyDelete
  83. That's why you do it at the Rumble and have Reigns still enter.

    ReplyDelete
  84. These regular appearances of him just being a bit lame did nobody any favours. But I guess they had to do something with him, otherwise we'd all just forget about the greasy snoozeball.
