Cities Placing Bids to Host WrestleMania 33

As cities are placing bids to host the show, Philadelphia is making a strong bid to host, with the plan to hold the show at Lincoln Financial Field and the Hall of Fame ceremony at the Wells Fargo Center. Orlando has also put in a bid to host the show again.

Sheamus, who was backstage at RAW this past Monday, has been said to be ready to return to action.

AJ Lee Update

AJ was originally scheduled to return from a neck injury on 1/21 but was removed from the advertising for that show, citing that she had not yet recovered from injury. She was even scheduled to be on RAW a few weeks ago and had an angle written for her to return but AJ said that she was not ready to return.

Ring of Honor iPPV Update

There is talk of cutting back on iPPV's due to frequent problems that result in refund requests, making the shows unprofitable. There is even some consideration given about just dropping the iPPV shows altogether due to Sinclair not wanting any money-losing events.

  1. He's gonna come back smiling, FELLA! He's got a song in his heart and the luck of the Irish on his side!

    ReplyDelete
  2. It'll be interesting because I didn't think he came into his own as a worker until he was a babyface. So hopefully that doesn't mean he's one of those guys who can't quite put it all together, when one's character is way more interesting on one side of the ledger but his ringwork is way better on the other side.

  3. Man, I really don't like Stone Temple Pilots much. Whiny little douche for a lead singer they have.

    ReplyDelete
  4. So if Phili gets it, snarkiest wrestlemania, hall of fame and raw after wm ever.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I feel like ROH needs iPPVs if they want to maintain a genuine interest in their product. When they briefly dropped the format last year, there were several shows I would have bought live, but lost interest in once the results were out. I can't imagine I'm alone in seeing it this way.
I admit I don't know much about IT, but I can't understand why they can't just fix whatever problems seem to plague every PPV they try to run. And why are they the only company that seems to have this problem? I've never had a problem with an Evolve or Dragon's Gate purchase.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Much like how you go on job duty after you win the IC/US title, didn't Sheamus do a ton of jobs after winning the KOTR that basically nullified him winning it in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Leaking the possibility of a Philly Mania to try and make the crowd behave themselves Sunday eh? Very clever, WWE!

    ReplyDelete
  8. I think Philly's smark cred is a bit overrated. It's mostly based on the fact that they cheered for untalented idiots getting thrown through flaming shards of glass in barbed wire rings like 80 years ago. Chicago and Brooklyn are miles ahead on the snark/smark charts.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Sheamus coming back could be a good foil for Reigns.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Sheamus as HHH's obnoxious enforcer and workout buddy is RIGHT THERE as a heel character and works on every level. I still have no idea why they've never used that, no matter how much Sheamus denies the relationship in real life.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Wouldn't be a bad gig if they were raking in that guaranteed WCW cash.
Actually, if past reports were accurate and still true, Orton's downside guarantee is enough to enjoy an extended, enforced vacation. Not so sure about Fella.

  57. Jamm is one of my favorite bit characters in just about anything ever. "Give me back that megaphone, it belongs to my aunt!"

    ReplyDelete
  58. Wayne Bloom feels like an outcast. :(

    ReplyDelete
  59. At least he is funny there. There are way worse WWE timelines than that one.

    ReplyDelete
  60. At one point, the dude asks Beefcake about Savage's and Liz's relationship in 89 and if they were still together at this point. Brutus turns dead serious and says "She's dead!"

    ReplyDelete
  61. Useless really, he won't say anything other than I didn't know or do anything, or I can't speak about an ongoing investigation.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I'm inclined to believe that their "relationship" was in fact way overblown, but I nonetheless agree. I like Big Show, but Sheamus in that role would be 9000x better.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'm laughing at him, not with him.

    ReplyDelete

    'Roids. Don't do 'em, kids.

  66. That does it. I'm downloading this right now.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Tammi 2 stripping in the library was great. Also, Leslie smacking Jamm across the face repeatedly was funny, as was Ron's saxophone fart.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Me too. Especially when you consider HHH is rumored to want to push aside all of Johnny Ace's guys like Sheamus and Barrett.

    ReplyDelete
  69. It's a damn shame that Rockstar Gary has to post his reviews in the forums for no one to read. A God damn shame.

    ReplyDelete
  70. That's fine. If they aren't going to do it I'm going to start my own promotion and those two are going to be among my first wave of signees for the EFFH (European Funtime Fisticuffs Hour).

    ReplyDelete
  71. Is that the same forum where the supposed Meekin dick pic was being posted?

    ReplyDelete
  72. does he talk about the anthrax scare he caused?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Ok, so I've never actually heard a Radiohead song, not knowingly anyhow, but I've always been sort of aware of them as a band that had like one big hit with the kids in the early oughts.

Turns out that's not really their story at all. Huh.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Here it is:

"In this shanty town of Birmingham, Alabama, I await backstage in a common area. Behind the door beholds my future! Eric Bischoff told me to arrive 75 minutes ago. And where is he? Is he in a corporate meeting? Or is he on the floor drooling like a mongrel while in a soma coma like the rest of the plebeians in this establishment! I shall ask him why my partner, Wayne Bloom, is not teaming with me. Why are we not extinguishing the heat in Harlem? Are we not the only Males in America? And we are as Rough and Ready as anyone, nor Fire or Ice shall stop our path of greatness (prodcution assistant walks by to give a note). Blasphemy! I shall eave my post in front of this door and head to ye squared circle to pin the shoulders of Jack Boot to the mat! What kind of homosapien refers to himself as a boot made of Jack? My return will be grand, Mr. Bischoff, but I shall enter the depths of hell so the inbred population of Alabama can view greatness for the first time!"

  76. Spoiler alert: Taking a dick pic is Step 9 of the DDP Yoga workout.

    ReplyDelete
  77. They posted the Meekin dick to the forums for no one to see? Pathetic. The Meekin "porn" was one of the saddest things around here recently. All that gets posted to the forums are Rockstar Gary reviews and fake MEEKIN dick pics. The time has come to remove the forums entirely. Reinstate Gary's posting privileges and formally apologize for the addition of the forums in the first place. No one wanted forums. It was a major misstep.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Yeah pretty huge act.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I don't get any of this. Carry on though.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Not at all.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Beefcake takes a simple question about Warrior and turns it into a crazy story about how he was supposed to take the title off him (early 89) and combines about three years worth of shit happening to him into this one specific time period. Like somehow Ron Bass and Honky Tonk Man are involved. I'm not even doing this justice with how crazy Beefer sounds.

    Drugs, man.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Now I feel bad :(

    ReplyDelete
  83. Blew me away. I literally never heard the name until like 2003 or 4.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Its not even close to as bad as 99 with Venis, 00 with Rikishi, and 06 with Finlay.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  92. I too feel like I'm owed an apology for the existence of all of the web pages on the internet that I wouldn't want to visit. And it damn sure better be a formal one, too!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Not all. Just the ones that were forced onto sites I currentky go to. The forums won the booker award for biggest website mistake of 2014. Remove them and let's all move on to a better tomorrow.

RoH has been having iPPV issues for a few years now. It's just starting to hurt their business?

    ReplyDelete
  96. Poor Hogan was just trying to make a dollar and keep his family going while those no good dastardly fellows Vince and Warrior conspired to take it all away from him.

    ReplyDelete
  97. He is wearing what only can be described as something out of post 2008 Jerry Lawler's closet.

    ReplyDelete
  98. It is the worst of the 80's, agree?

    ReplyDelete
  99. Yeah, I don't get that one, either. It's rare they have an iPPV that works. I've gotten a lot of free DVDs and refunds from them over the years. I honestly thought they stopped last year because they never worked. I mostly just order the DVDs and catch up on the weekly show when I can.

If they haven't dropped it yet, they need to.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I like it.
I will say, though, that the one good thing about the tiresome and way too quick return of the Authority is that they've pretty much totally avoided making Rollins look like a mere corporate bitch. Kane and Show are basically his lackeys in addition to J&J Security.
So at least they've done well in handling the one guy who actually matters in all of this, even if he was better off leading them the group without HHH and Steph around.

  105. Effectively setting the business back 20 years.

    ReplyDelete
  106. It's a tiny link at the top of the page. Worst case scenario is someone accidentally clicks it and has to hit the back button on their browser. Unless the first thing they see when they click it is Meekin's dick, this doesn't strike me as a real problem.

    ReplyDelete
  107. The Ghost of Matt_INDEED!!!January 22, 2015 at 8:06 AM

By having him lose once in 6 years?

    ReplyDelete
  108. Could be. Honky's 87 Timeline was suprisingly dull.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Mercifully, it's over.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Did you guys see the billboard in NYC that spoiled the Mania main event?

    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B79cCIkIEAMjN-m.jpg

    ReplyDelete
  111. The fact that we just gloss over extremely low quality and throw up our hands and say, "oh well, ignore it I guess." Is the problem. That mentality won't get you anywhere and over time erodes a community. Better to attack it head on and admit your faults a d point out that you are consciously aware of it.

I honestly won't be signing up for Mania. I don't need this shit.

Nope. Anytime they show clips of "special moments in Wrestlemania history", HHH will be involved in several of them just because he was able to put himself in that spot. Sting is another one of those special moments that he wants, win or lose. Doesn't matter at all. It's the big moment that matters.

If I'm booking Reigns, I have him go on early in the Rumble, but get pulled out by Rusev after having eliminated him at the end. Build to Rusev-Reigns for the U.S. Title at 'Mania, maybe with Hulk Hogan in his corner. Have Reigns win it, then defend it throughout the year.

Have him face IC Champion Dolph Ziggler in a unification match at SummerSlam, then roll into January and win the Rumble before moving on to face John Cena in Dallas at WrestleMania XXXII.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Losing is even better in his eyes. It puts him in the spotlight and he can point out later ALLLLLLL the guys he laid down for. There by building the bridge to the future single handedly. CENA isn't even relevant today if HHH doesn't do the job at WM22.

  165. He said Andre never called himself a giant. Pretty awful stuff. His mannerisms and facial expressions will make it all even worse.

  166. How amazing would it be if the main event is Reigns vs Lesnar and Lesnar shoots on him and destroys him in 30 seconds? Whips out a UFC contract and signs it with Roman's blood right there.

  173. I love STP. Damn shame Weiland couldn't get his shit together. I saw them live 2 or 3 years ago and they put on a hell of a show. Everyone loves "Purple", but I think "Tiny Music" was better.

  174. Honest question, though: is that actually true? I don't have any catalogued knowledge of Andre promos. That was his ring name, but was Andre constantly referring to himself as such? Because heel Big Show is always referring to himself as a "giant," so on paper I think it's a good line.

  178. He had a whole feud with Big John Studd over who the real giant was.

  179. In the Wrestlemania Rewind I watched last night, there was an interview where they asked Andre in 84 whether he'd challenge Hulk for the title, and he replied "Because I don't want to be the champion, I just want to be the giant, I want to be Andre"

  180. What the hell is a Canadian Stampede? That was the one and only time I've ever seen Canada portrayed with a Western theme. Cowboy hats everywhere.
