It is what it is at this point. I wish that I could stay mad at the WWE, but in the end this is what I expect from them and can do no more than just voice my displeasure move on.

    ReplyDelete
  2. That's pretty much how I feel. It's not worth the effort to remain upset because nothing's going to change.

At least we'll always have WM30...

    ReplyDelete
  3. I've got a pretty open afternoon. I plan on cranking out 3 or 4 Lucha Underground reviews today. So be on the look out for that. Appreciate all your continued support.

    ReplyDelete
  4. You own that shit, bro

    ReplyDelete
  5. About Daniel Bryan:

-Vince is the new Verne Gagne
    -He's a idiot
-I hope the crowd shits on the ME.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I've been saying it - Daniel Bryan is not a WWE creation, It pisses Vince off that someone outside of the WWE machine can get over without his stamp of approval,

    ReplyDelete
  7. It's a real void here on the blog. I hope to fill it with my particular brand of bro hijinks. Should be a lot of fun.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Same reason he doesn't like AMBROSE.

    ReplyDelete
  9. For Vince, if you're a new talent and has 30 years or more, you're nothing. Well, but Kane and Big Show are still treated as big players. If you get over by talent and you're not the chosen one...buried! Then he complains about the talent not grabbing the brass ring.

    ReplyDelete
  10. No surprises in any of these news items really...

Just caught up on Smackdown, anyone else think it was actually a really good show? Reminded me of what Raw used to be like when it was two hours - pretty concise, to the point, only seeing the likes of Cena/Bryan/Rollins/Rusev once a show, but with a bit more star power than the usual Smackdown shows. Seemed to fly by in comparison to most live Raws these days.

    ReplyDelete
  11. About the Whole Reigns situation:

Vince see things in a superficial way. He thinks that the look is the most important aspect. The reason because we cheer for Bryan isn't just because he's small and we act "bizarro world", he's a tremenduos worker and charismatic in every role given. There's also of course the fact that he was held down by the machine's politics.

Ever Since Hogan came in to stardom Vince has never strayed with his top face formula, with the exception of Austin. He seems to forget that while Hogan had the look, he also had the connection and the charisma that made him a top star. This is something you can make in a day, it takes years for development, some even fail to capture.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Vince is, as Biscuit put it so well the other day, a size queen.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm calm.

    ReplyDelete
  14. That was my quote buddy. 2 inches means the world to him.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Plus, us 90s (and 80s) kids are different than the 10s kids. We had other companies to follow. The WWE wasn't a corporate company with restrictions on what type of product to air. We had bookers, not creative. Since VInce went public and WCW/ECW went out of business, you can gradually see how the business changing. But where are the more things change the more they stay the same?

    ReplyDelete
  16. You've been extremely angry and irritable for the last few weeks. More so than normal. I hope all is well. I'm rooting for you to overcome whatever this specter of anger is hanging over you.

    ReplyDelete
  17. It's all good. We're all on the same team.

    ReplyDelete
  18. As was Vince's father. The Northeast always had these big lumbering guys because they drew no matter how horrible they were in the ring. Vince still thinks size matters. And it's still a part of the equation. But it goes beyond with him. Audience of one.

    ReplyDelete
  19. you know they could make the fans happy if the decided to build up ic title and gave Bryan good opents and time to wrestle good long matches. I think if you gave Bryan 20-30 ppv matches with zigglers and wyatt instead of main event authority mared matches w big show, orton, cenas and Kane. I think that's what people really want is for Bryan to be able to zhow what he can do in the ring, think late hbk, wasn't winning titles but stealing shows

    ReplyDelete
  20. Bruno was 5'10.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Bryan/Cena or Bryan/Orton with no shenanigans could reach ****.

    ReplyDelete
  22. That's a big problem when HHH gets full power, he understands the business, but he's not a college graduated so for them he knows nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Wrestling always followed "the heat" and tried to produce it. We are literally getting the action / adventure variety show soap opera that Kevin Dunn dreamed up. That action / adventure stuff was just corporate jargon to fool investors and advertisers into sinking money into pro wrestling. It really ins't a wrestling show anymore. Not turning Cena heel was the first sign they were going completely off the rails it defied and still defies all booking logic. The Cena heel turn is important, not pushing Bryan to the top is equally as bad.

    ReplyDelete
  24. That's going to be an issue when Vince checks out, Investors and shareholders will not be confident when that change happens. It could be a WCW situation. Unless WWE goes private again, it may be 'A wrestler will never run this company'.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Great news! HHH is a sports entertainer.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't see anything more than the mandatory complaining about the WWE going on with him - at least it the update threads - those are the only ones I read regularly

    ReplyDelete
  27. "Sure, he took over the Twitter account of one of the teams playing in the Super Bowl and was prominently featured on the NFL's main website, but there's NO WAY Daniel Bryan can be the face of the company and see mainstream success. (And all that San Francisco Giants stuff during the World Series didn't happen, either....)"

    ReplyDelete
  28. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessJanuary 31, 2015 at 9:05 AM

I swear to God, the WWE is just trolling us with some of this information.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Great news! HHH is a entertainer.

    FTFY

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thing is, Bryan has garnered way more mainstream press over the last couple of years than anyone else on the roster. And that's precisely because he's not the stereotypical big guy. Unsurprisingly, WWE hasn't capitalised.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I just ordered a chikara dvd for the first time. I don't know anything about the company but thought I'd give them a try. I picked up the May 2014 show, which was their return show after closing down for a year. Figured that was a good starting point. Anybody here into chikara?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I was at the Giants parade this year and got so psyched when Bryan rolled by. Had no idea he was going to be there.

    ReplyDelete
  33. They should have turned him when he got booed out of the building against Edge on 05 / 06. they plenty of top faces then.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessJanuary 31, 2015 at 9:07 AM

But at least Tony Garea will be making an appearance on this episode of Prime Time Wrestling.

    ReplyDelete
  35. In fairness, Bryan had a whole Wrestlemania built around him - which is more than I ever would have imagined - and has been more consistently over than any of those guys.

    ReplyDelete
  36. According to a source, no matter how hard the fans rally behind Bryan
and how much he gets over, the top WWE officials are not going to see
him as a top guy that can be the face of the company.

    Okay then. Then I'm done.

    ReplyDelete
  37. For a company that craves outside attention it is completely mind-boggling how little they promote his stuff. The guy is really popular in the world of sports.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Has WWE not noticed how many pro athletes have gigantic beards? Roman's goatee is something straight out of Friends.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I didn't watch it outside the casket match, but a big part of the two hours is that you only see each of the stars once. If they have two or even three entrances per show, you're bound to burn out the crowd.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessJanuary 31, 2015 at 9:11 AM

This is what I've been saying. I think someone at WWE figured out what trolling was and decided to do it on the regular. They've managed to turn the situation with Daniel Bryan into an opportunity to turn smarks like us back into marks.

    ReplyDelete
  41. "Yep Mode" Abeyance Brown ©January 31, 2015 at 9:11 AM

No one in Wrestling will have a bigger beard than Matt Cross though.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I can't stand people who pretend they weren't fucking bumping that shit back when it was out. Everyone hates Limp Bizkit yet I bet everyone has a CD or 2 laying around their house.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Alot of champions from Bruno's era was that height. The Funks. Race. Brisco. Superstar Graham broke that mold. Looking back, I'm surprised seeing how conversative Vince Sr was that he had Graham as his champion for a couple years.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Seems like a good short term way to increase merchandise sales to "protect" their guy.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Vince saw the future with 1) PPV/syndication and 2) what Hogan could be. Since then, he's fallen ass backwards into every other good thing to hit his company.

    ReplyDelete
  46. They had the few I've seen on youtube, is there an alternate source?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Daniel Bryan doesn't have to be the "face of the company," but its hard to think of anyone who can be a better "face of right now." The smart plan is for 2015 to be the year of Bryan(as he is the most over person right now, even if its not permanent), while people like Rollins, Reigns, Ambrose, and Wyatt spend their year working with him and Cena improving their craft. Then next year the one who "grabs the bass ring" can be the face of the company later on. This has the added benefit of probably having audience approval. However, something like this seems to require too much thinking for the greatest wrestling promoter in history.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I swear this Bryan stuff is just internet-era babyface heat. And, intentional or not, it clearly works.

If WWE really wanted to subdue the Bryan stuff, they'd put him in a major Wrestlemania match (my pick being vs. Rollins with the briefcase on the line), because sidelining him guarantees the crowd shit on their golden boy.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I really hope this kills Roman Reigns career in a way that he never recovers from.

They've done just an absolute shit job booking the guy. Daniel Bryan should have gotten an awesome redemption storyline and made as pile of cash. Instead he'll be fighting Dolph Ziggler on the pre show while Reigns wins the World title to crickets.

    ReplyDelete

  54. "Yep Mode" Abeyance Brown ©January 31, 2015 at 9:20 AM

Takes longer for things to get taken down there.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Korn's first 3 albums yes. Bizkit, no.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Not fair to hope Reigns' career bombs. He's a talented guy pushed way beyond his abilities and overdom because of his look and ass-backward WWE booking. He shouldn't have to suffer due to the ineptitude of Vince and the creative team.

    ReplyDelete
  57. That main event at WM could get ugly.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Okay, what '95 PPV are we starting now. lol

    ReplyDelete
  65. I definitely was into it too but being a 14 year old listening to nu metal in 2000 is different than an adult listening to it in 2014. Just saying if we can rip on 90s facial hair, the music is fair game too. That said, I'll always look left and right to make sure nobody's looking before turning the radio up if I hear last resort by papa roach come on.

Anyone else think the "Resume watching" feature on the WWE Network fucking sucks donkeys?

    ReplyDelete
  74. So who pulls a 1984 Hogan with Bryan?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Here's another gem from Vince. He wants to get rid of the numbers in Wrestlemania, because it makes it sound "too old", and replace them with symbols. So, this years has the play symbol for Silicon Valley. Next year, a star for Texas. I'm sure soon enough the NFL and UFC will agree numbers make their events sound "too old" as well.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Daniel Bryan - The mainstream media takes pro wrestling so seriously that it would completely blow WWE's image to have a bearded vanilla image as the top guy. #sarcasm

I think one of things that us 90's kids have trouble dealing with is how the show is booked or written. Wrestling in the 80's and 90's was very much so booked for crowd reactions and heat. That no longer seems to be a consideration in the modern product. Heat is what made Hogan, Austin, the nWo, and every successful wrestling angle ever work. I just don't get it. Heel Roman is a money machine ready to happen, Cena has been that for years.

    ReplyDelete

  84. I'm not 100% this is the case, but if I was going to "work the Internet," news story #1 is exactly the kind of story i'd let leak.

There's no real substance to it yet it pisses people off and makes them want to rally behind Bryan.

  105. Is. Or perhaps was.

Daniel Bryan or the return of the Authority?

Well i guess i answered my own question there didn't i?

    ReplyDelete
  108. If they're intentionally trolling (and I think they are), it's not very subtle. It seems like exactly what Vince would release to try to "work" us.

I'm going to send an email to WWE asking for MORE Garea matches! Just so I can imagine the confused response of the bot who reads it...

    ReplyDelete
  110. That is the one good constant with the WWE Network. An overabundance of Garea matches.

    ReplyDelete
  111. It's the tone. More of a bitter edge than in used to. He hasn't even been throwing out what music he's listening to lately. Just seems off. It could very well just be in my mind. Just checking in on a bro.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Nu Metal gets a really bad rap (pun intended). Nu Metal was fun party music I loved it at the time and still think its cool. That being said I was thrilled when bands like Lamb of God and Killswitch Engage came out and shoved all that shit to the side. Also I had an erection when guitar solos started coming back on metal records. I digress . . .

    ReplyDelete
  113. Bryan is the modern version of Bret Hart. Bret was never THE face of the company. He always played second to Diesel, Luger, and HBK. It was only when the other guys failed on top that he took over again because he was always over.
Thus, when Reigns fails as a top face, it will back to Bryan.

  124. The Cena turn should have happened years ago, but who replaces him as the #1 face that does things he does outside the ring? No one because no one was created to do that. And it is like a sitcom now. But eventually USA may see it as a sitcom; with a shelf life like any other show and decide if it's outlived their usefullness. Especially with their Network to fall back on.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Ok. He still wasn't a huge guy. Barrel chested sure, but the most important thing was that he was super Italian not that he was huge. He was the absolute top face for years with the entire promotion built around him. 5'10.
