Comments

  1. Rey's 40 but with his injuries is essentially 50. He's been gone so often and for so long i can't imagine he's still a big merch mover at this point. Time to let him move on and injure himself in his first night back in Mexico.

    ReplyDelete
  2. "There are rumors within the WWE that the company is close to granting Mysterio his release. When Mysterio heard the rumor, he tore his patella. He will be out another 6-8 months before the rumor starts up again."

    ReplyDelete
  3. Good news on the Network, although I will refrain from getting too excited until I actually see it on my television. I didn't see any announcement coming given Sky's recent announcement of PPV prices being raised from £14.95 to £19.99.

    ReplyDelete
  4. "What's Rey Mysterio doing in the Impact Zone, Taz?!"
"Looks like he's tearing his patella, Mike!"

    ReplyDelete
  5. Given how badly TNA wants big names for their reboot, I'm willing to bet they're deliberately fucking with Rey at this point to keep him from showing up there.

    ReplyDelete
  6. It's possible. By the end of January, they'll have TV all the way through March in the bag I think. So no new entrants until then.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Meltzer talked about how Dixie wants Del Rio, who has shown next to no interest.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Sounds like they're "still negotiating" to me.

    ReplyDelete
  9. "My Hero" is behind "Waterfalls"? What world are we living in??

    ReplyDelete
  10. New Japan news: Nagata challenged Nakamura to an IC title match and Styles pinned Tanahashi in a six-man match which would suggest he the next challenger for the IWGP title.

As much as I want Zayn to progress in his career, a long feud with Owens will do him as much good as treading water on the main shows. Those 'NXT officials' are doing him a favour keeping him from Vince and Dunn.

    ReplyDelete
  11. So Zayn stays in developmental for another year? I'm speechless.

    ReplyDelete
  12. They're both outdoing 1979. Everyone should be ashamed of themselves!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Keep him away from Vince & Dunn as long as possible.

    ReplyDelete
  14. As long as it is in the top four it will be OK. Still early though, plenty of time for it to climb.

I knew Scenario didn't have much of a chance, but it makes me sad to see it dwelling in the basement.

    ReplyDelete
  15. It's hilarious to me that a publicly traded company worth millions of dollars somehow acts like a 6 year old girl that cries when someone takes her dolly for 5 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  16. My thoughts, exactly.

As talented as Zayn is (one of the best in the world), it'd be heartbreaking to see him just wallow around in the midcard for years.

    ReplyDelete
  17. And how will this change whenever they actually do call him up? Aren't they just delaying the inevitable?

    ReplyDelete
  18. You sound like you could work in the front office (aka the blue van parked at a Quiznos) of TNA.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Maybe all these guys should just stay in NXT until Vince retires.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Zayn/Owens in NXT could be an awesome feud and more compelling than whatever he would get on the main roster right now. I am fine with that, although Zayn does not need developmental if that makes sense

    ReplyDelete
  21. The rusted-out van is more like it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It makes perfect sense. Keep him in NXT, because they'll utilize him correctly, not because he needs to be there.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well, would you have interest in TNA if you could make buckets of more money in AAA?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Drat. I was really looking forward to that Sami Zayn vs. Hornswoggle feud that would inevitably happen for Vince's shits and gigs.

    ReplyDelete
  25. But we've seen tons of Steen vs. Generico, I don't see how Zayn/Owens will be any different and it may actually be worse due to the restrictions they'll have.

I think Zayn could be a case of Daniel Bryan where the crowd makes him get over at the main level. They are really losing money by leaving that guy down in NXT for years and years.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Problem is Vince will never retire.

But Vince Sr passed at 69 and Jess at 72 so who knows how long Vince has.

I personally think his DNA magically fused with Cocaine & Steroids 25 years ago and he'll live to be 134.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I guess we'll have to settle for Zayn in the Bunny suit for the time being.

    ReplyDelete
  28. No. Del Rio isn't going there. Maybe they can settle for Hunico

    ReplyDelete
  29. They should at least give him one nore 'Mania match

    ReplyDelete
  30. The WWE audience hasn't seen it, or at least the WWE doesn't think we've seen it....and they know how good it was in the indys, so why not run it? Makes sense to me. They aren't thinking about the *MAYBE* 5,000 people who actually saw the feud the first time elsewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Just like anybody else, they will make the same amount of money whether he's on the main roster or not.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Tempted to drop WWE Network for New Japan World. I liked how the NJPW network offers house shows as well as the live PPVs and back library.

    ReplyDelete
  33. So with all the recent TNA re-signing announcements, we haven't heard squat about the Dudleys, and neither is currently under contract and are listed in the "TNA Alumni" section of the website (although Bully Ray is still listed on the website for the UK tour).

Who thinks they're going to return to TNA? And who's with me in thinking they'll be surprise entrants in the Rumble in Philly?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think Bully wants to at least attempt one final proper singles run but i don't see the WWE showing much interest.

Could they get a New Age Outlaws type "Remember the Attitude Era" push for a few months? Sure but not much more than that. Not that he isn't able just that i don't believe the WWE wants to bother.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yeah, that's why I said Rumble appearance and not a full-out WWE return.

But honestly I don't see why they couldn't get the same push the New Age Outlaws got earlier this year. Do a quick "Remember these guys?" run to see some ECW and Dudley DVDs, put them in the Hall of Fame.

Also, Bully/Devon/Spike needs to do the Chikara King of Trios tournament at least once.

    ReplyDelete
  36. It didn't affect the awesomeness of Rey, Benoit, Eddy, Malenko and others in WCW when they just recreated the same matches they'd had in ECW

    ReplyDelete
  37. Guess it depends whether Bubba wants to be full time anymore. I guess he can do that Rumble run whenever he wants, so signing a one year deal at this time wouldn't be a bad idea

    ReplyDelete
  38. MikeyMike, JuggernautJanuary 5, 2015 at 7:48 AM

They don't have English commentary though

    ReplyDelete
  39. Just a heads-up, Bayless, you typo'd this as 1986. Love these reviews, thanks for all the continued hard work.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Maybe it's the conspiracy theorist in me, but part of me feels that the WWE has less incentive to promote guys to the main roster now that NXT is on the WWE Network. Why elevate someone when the hardcore fans can watch their favorite Indy guys exclusively on the network?

    ReplyDelete
  41. "You don't know what happened?"

"You don't know what this is?"

I <3 Vince. The early Mr. McMahon stuff is easily the greatest wrestling character *ever*.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I never liked the fireball gimmick for Lawler. It didn't fit him at all.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Knowing the WWE, it was probably a stall tactic to kept Rey out of action as long as they possibly could... while keeping him away from signing with the "competition".

    ReplyDelete
  44. Same here - not paying £10 for it. I never looked into using a US IP address or however it works - is that still a thing I can do to get the American deal?

    ReplyDelete
  45. You see, when Vince decided he wanted to resign Rey, it was a Tuesday, but when he decided to let his contract run out it was a Thursday.

    ReplyDelete
  46. This is what I was thinking, especially if wwe wants to get behind the ascension. Bring in the dudleys, give them a few months with the belt then put the ascension over them huge and then throw the dudleys in the hof in April.

    ReplyDelete
  47. To be fair, NXT needs its stars too. Zayn is a big part of it and he'll probably need replacing before he jumps to the main roster.

    ReplyDelete
  48. It's a fair point. If they can find a way to neutralise the haters by giving them NXT, and thus reducing the amount of disruption to the Roman, John & Randy Show, then I'm sure they'd be very happy with that.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I could go for that.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I actually liked the King in Memphis (from what I was able to watch.)

It would seem that a guy would come in... like say the Sheik... Sheik hits him with a fireball, jobs.

He learns the secret of the fireball technique and uses in Sheik, now Lawler uses the fireball.

    Its very MegaMan-esque.

Now everywhere else (WWF) He was good on the mic, but to me he didn't fit working a big man terrirtory.

    ReplyDelete
  51. TJ so current St. Louis Rams ownership is in talks to build a stadium in LA.

On behalf of this region: so long, assholes.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I feel pretty good running off of 2 hour sleep/nap from 10-12, staying up until about 2, going to sleep, can't sleep and giving up, waking up around 3, turning on the TV, watching Total Divas while loathing myself, then surf the net until 4:30 am, sleep again, and then waking up to my alarm at 8:30, and at work by 9:30.

I don't usually need a lot of sleep, but less than 3-4 hours for a full work day is usually killer.

    ReplyDelete
  53. The WWE Network stream sucks. I could barely watch the last two PPV's the quality was so bad. Kept freezing up and wouldn't stay in HD. The quality of the stream the past few PPV's has been terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Or going back home!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I know WWE are supposed to be professionals, but I just can't see them having the ability to think like that.

I actually think it's more possible that Triple H wants to protect the next gen from Vince, so he keeps them on NXT so Vince won't tinker with them.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Makes sense on both sides. El Patron wasn't some scrub who got shuffled out of the WWE. I actually liked him and it was a shame how badly the WWE writers handled his character. Especially the Face Turn/Juan Cena boy scout act/hotel room fight with Big Show.

In what...sigh...universe...does that storyline make an ounce of sense?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Every PPV I've watched live except for Payback has been blurry for me.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I feel like shit in the morning regardless of the amount of sleep I got.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Del Rio's face turn was one of the worst I have ever seen.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Just ate a pork roll and bacon breakfast sandwich for the 1st time in my life. I am now questioning my last 25 years of life.

    ReplyDelete
  61. They should at least offer subtitles, otherwise fuck that.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Percentage odds that HHH gets divorced or dies before Vince relinquishes control? About 50%. He's going to be protecting things for a long time.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Somebody's got a case of the Mondays.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Every day of my life is a Monday.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Did you just abandon vegetarianism, or have you just been neglecting particular sandwiches?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Well, also, if they're looking for stars to carry shows in Mexico, the Lucha Dragons are RIGHT THERE. Granted the Sin Cara character was awful before, but now? Hell of a tag team.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I'm usually like that, but I also usually am okay once I start my morning routine to get ready for work. I also don't use coffee or another caffeine drinks, so I'm a bit unusual in that sense.

    ReplyDelete
  68. # Every day is like sunday #

    ReplyDelete
  69. I don't do coffee either, but It's not like I'd feel its effects anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I have always either gotten a bacon and cheese or pork roll and cheese, I've never thought of combining the 2.

    ReplyDelete
  71. MikeyMike, JuggernautJanuary 5, 2015 at 8:43 AM

Yeah man I feel ya. Anything under five and I feel like absolute trash the next day and end up battling the highs and lows of caffeine which I hate.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I'm not hating on "Waterfalls", I'm just shocked by the voting judging by the crowd we have here.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I think one of my coworkers feels betrayed because I slid over a seat away from him. I've been here an hour and he hasn't said a word to me.

I've moved because one of the girls I work with moved over and she usually gives me free food all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  74. To be fair, I barely drink unless I am on vacation mode. Then I binge cocktails left and right, usually vodka Red Bulls or just simple rum n' Cokes.

I'm not sure if I feel the effect of caffeine in the morning since I haven't done it in so long. I tried coffee long time ago, but I hated so much that I stopped it really fast in my professional life.

    ReplyDelete
  75. What kind of rum do you usually take in your coke?

    ReplyDelete
  76. MikeyMike, JuggernautJanuary 5, 2015 at 8:44 AM

I like Mondays better than Tuesdays.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Pork and bacon should go well together, really. Ham too.

    ReplyDelete
  78. The weird thing is that, for me, usually Mondays and Tuesdays fly by pretty quickly. It's the rest of the week that drags on and on.

The worst is a Thursday because it's like, one more day til Friday but if I got this day done and it was Friday, it'd be the weekend already. If that makes sense.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I had to quit energy drinks because they were costing me a fortune, but I could never give up coffee. I also take BSN NoXplode before workouts, and that's got a ridiculous level of caffeine in it. Such a wonderful drug.

    ReplyDelete
  80. MikeyMike, JuggernautJanuary 5, 2015 at 8:47 AM

Thursdays do suck. I get so bored I end up drinking on Thursday evenings.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Nothing special. Captain Morgan or Bacardi is fine. I have no preference in alcohol when I mix things. In fact, cheaper the better to save $$$. I drink the good stuff straight as shots or on the rocks. Grey Goose vodka usually, or Zacapa Soleri 13 rum. When I do tequila, I usually do Patron Silver.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Oh it's glorious. I'm a very plain person when it comes to food. With the exception of Fat Sandwiches and now pork roll and bacon I'm usually just a ham sandwich, turkey sandwich 1 meat kind of guy.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I can't understand how anyone can drink this stuff straight up.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I hear they come from the same magical animal.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Rey will be missed. I wish they took his title reigns more seriously but he accomplished a lot in a company that favors size. If anything he came along too soon and was ahead of his time.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Random question - favourite and least-favourite "nickname" for a wrestler that, for whatever reason, never really caught on fully?

I always loved when they called Lesnar "The anomaly" - I though it was a brilliant title and wished they'd picked up more on it and ran with it.

Big Red for Rowan has to be a clear runner for worst one.

    ReplyDelete
  87. He's pretty much the only guy his size that managed to do what he did despite it.

    ReplyDelete
  88. More on this as it develops?

  90. More heartbreaking to see him in a "Mighty Mouse" type role.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I wonder if he is in some way being put into a trainer kind of role by being kept in NXT to wrestle everyone there and teach them ring psychology and match layout in front of audiences. Not that Owens needs it but the greener guys he'll wrestle at house shows and now and then on the tv tapings sure do.

    ReplyDelete
  92. An ugly Bobby Eaton? Gross man, people are trying to eat breakfast!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Apex Predator

    ReplyDelete
  94. I've been back at work for an hour and I already want to go home and play video games and watch wrestling.

    ReplyDelete
  95. There's probably not going to be any more. I don't really much care as my goal is to get to Colorado and get away from here.

    ReplyDelete
  96. MikeyMike, JuggernautJanuary 5, 2015 at 8:50 AM

You're a fan of that one?!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Yeah right, Lisa.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Vintage Bayless!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Its my least favorite

    ReplyDelete
  100. If they can build Zayn/Owens well and make the blowoff match a special NXT attraction at WM this year it could do wonders for both.

    ReplyDelete
  101. We have a tv that we used to share and he's slid it all the way against the wall so that I can't see it. lol

    ReplyDelete
  102. MikeyMike, JuggernautJanuary 5, 2015 at 8:51 AM

Ah. Same. I like Viper alright. Apex Predator makes him sound like a rapist.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I'm going to continue posting Morrissey lyrics and links until I get all the upvotes.

    ReplyDelete
  104. He goes in the HOF within the next 5 years unless he dogs them when he leaves or something.

    ReplyDelete
  105. It's DELICIOUS!

Another one of my favorites is the one of the Incredible Hulks. This version is Hpnotiq and Hennessy. I prefer about 2/3 Hpnotiq and 1/3 Hennessy, although 2/2 is fine, or even 3/1 if I want more of a sweet taste.

I generally hate beers, but I do like some. Smoothness seems to be what I like, so I drink Coors Light, Heineken, or Guinness Stout.

    ReplyDelete
  106. It's weird that there's a Morrissey song to perfectly fit to these conversations.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Can't really say the nickname didn't catch on, right enough!

    ReplyDelete
  108. The Greatest Professional Wrestler of All Time. But it wasn't needed for him, for the name Tony Garea just naturally became synonymous with being the greatest.

    ReplyDelete
  109. If Zayn was on the main roster now, he'd be in a wacky partners tag team with Erick Rowan called The Mean Reds. "I love it when Little Red and Big Red argue, Maggle!"

    ReplyDelete
  110. He fits all situations!

As long as those situations are a bit depressing.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Agreed. As good as the last 5-10 minutes of the main event was, Ibushi/Nakamura stole the show.

    ReplyDelete
  112. For me, that extra 5th hour is key. Less than that, and I'm like a zombie. 5 or more, I can operate just about fine. I can't tell that I'm operating great at 7-9 hours. 5 seems the same as 7 or 9 for me.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I don't really mind nicknames. It's whatever to me.

    ReplyDelete
  114. That match will never take place at Mania.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Worst:

Major promotion: "The Analyst" Alex Riley. Really he's just an ass.

Minor leagues: "The Candyman" Reggie B. Fine. Creepy.

    ReplyDelete
  116. MikeyMike, JuggernautJanuary 5, 2015 at 8:56 AM

I didn't really care of Bionic Redneck. I don't hate it but that's one I could have lived without.

    ReplyDelete
  117. The thing is is I like those fucking girly fruity drinks that I can never fucking order without losing my goddamned dignity.

    ReplyDelete
  118. It did feel a little forced, I'll give you that.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Big Red, The Great White nothing like using colors as a nickname. Luckily they avoided call Ahmed "The Big Black"

    ReplyDelete
  120. Yeah, as much as I would like that, doubt it happens.

    ReplyDelete
  121. There were 3500 people just in the arena for the big Steen-Generico match.

I'm willing to wager more then 5000 have seen it.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Thank you very much and thanks for the heads up. I switched it to the correct date.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Best:

"Above Average" Mike Sanders. Way to set that bar, buddy.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Could maybe be a good shout for the big pre-show match, right enough. Get the crowd warmed up, but still keep some separation.

In fact, they could actually make the pre-show an NXT special - that has potential, panders to the network subscribers AND gives us some good wrasslin.

    ReplyDelete
  125. It looks like shit on the PS3 now and it didn't at the start

    ReplyDelete
  126. Can't give the mutants a theme that catchy for Raw after Mania.

    ReplyDelete
  127. I'm glad they didn't go with King Kong Kiwi.

    ReplyDelete
  128. They can barely get the main guys on the roster a spot on the card and they are using Steen/Zayn matches as the main attraction for the live specials.

    ReplyDelete
  129. While I agree that Striker is a little purple in his prose at times, I think he is the best commentator in the biz right now. If only he wasn't saddled with Vampiro in LUCHA UNDERGROUND. Strange as it might seem, I think a good combination for commentary would be Striker and Excaliber from PWG, who reminds me of a classier Joey Styles.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Ironically enough, that is the name of Garea's morbidly obese neighbor.

    ReplyDelete
  131. I still think Zayn and Owens can be useful to the tag division. Plus, you can establish their friendship through the team, so that when the inevitable feud comes, you can tell that story without relying on ROH footage to explain why it's so personal between them.

That said, that'd kind of be impossible now since NXT is a very visible developmental, sp it's not like WWE is going to pretend Sami Zayn isn't a former NXT champion, and that he didn't just spend months feuding with Owens, although I guess it wouldn't shock me if they still downplayed it.

That said, I'm not even sure I'd really call NXT "developmental" anymore, in that by virtue of being so highly promoted and televised, they're sort of locked into bringing guys up in their NXT gimmicks, regardless of whether or not that gimmick will work on a larger stage (Emma, Adam Rose, Bo Dallas). So it's not like if Zayn and Owens get called up, they're going to be demonstrably different from their NXT selves. Nor should they be, honestly.

    ReplyDelete
  132. I rarely drink Hpnotiq by itself. It's not the girlyness that turns me off. It's that by itself, it's too sweet generally. It's so overpowering that I want to mix it with Hennessy. I've also experimented with it before, so I know rums can work with Hpnotiq to get Hulk's color and flavor.

Incredible Hulk is really strong overall, since it's 2 liquors mixing. So that's manly.

Or just man up and no-sell judgement. My drink, and I couldn't care less about other's opinion on it. It makes me happy, that's all I care about.

    ReplyDelete
  133. I just have a feeling HHH will push for NXT to have some presence at WM, and I think giving them the pre-show slot would be a win-win.

Although it might mean we miss out on a Santino/Fandango/Rowan dance-off, or something, which we'll all just have to live with.

    ReplyDelete
  134. They only give 2 matches a chance to steal the show with the time limits/schedule they impose for the events. Sometimes a 3rd match will get a chance to become a dark horse contender (like Rhodes-Mysterio, Punk-Jericho). I don't think there's any way Vince lets NXT (HHH's baby) have a chance to steal the show at Wrestlemania (Vince's baby).

    ReplyDelete
  135. Perhaps not the worst but I don't like Ryback's 'The Big Guy' with that fake Razor Ramon-twang in his voice

    ReplyDelete
  136. It'll be the first thing that goes on Mania morning when they're looking at what they can cut for time.

    ReplyDelete
  137. As a Lawler mark (and Native Arkansan), I think that Lawler & Jarrett don't get the credit they deserve for the AWESOME booking they did! They always booked Lawler to look ever so vulnerable, then come back to win. Part of that also was the never-ending pursuit of the world title....he come oh-so-close but stay a fingertip away. And when he got too stale, he always threw in a stretcher job of some sort (burned by Eddie Gilbert, getting his leg broken, the entire Austin Idol/Tommy Rich feud) which also gave a natural top heel. In the meantime, there were tag teams (The Fabulous Ones, Rock & Roll Express, The Rockers, etc.) that would set the territory on fire.

  139. Good old HHH. Always looking out for the lil guy.

  141. I remember Bryan Alvarez going on a really funny rant once about Heath Slater along the lines of "“One Man Band? Really?! How is he a one man band? If he came out and played the piano with his feet and the guitar with his teeth while playing drums with his hands, MAYBE I could see it! But how the fuck is Heath Slater a one man band?”

  146. Some NXT guys will probably be in the Andre Battle Royal. But they barely give enough time for the main roster guys to turn a Mania match into something memorable. I just can't fathom they would give NXT any more than 3-5 minutes (not counting entrances) on the PPV itself. Hell, they're stingy with time on the pre-show. You know, because we have to keep the IC title match to four minutes so we can get back to showing you video packages.

  147. I got nothing. Other than if it makes you happy.

  148. True, that. I wonder which no-mark musical act will get a 20 minute slot to piss the audience off with this year. :(

  167. Every box comes with a surprise

    Oooh look, a knee brace!!

    ReplyDelete
  168. It's just a rumor at this point, but I'm assuming it's true if only because they usually do some kind of "get everybody on the card" match anyway, so it might as well be a continuing of what they started last year. Make a tradition out of it so everyone gets a Mania match.

Of course, this has the negative effect of meaning a second WM streak will probably never happen organically again, since a lot of guys who might be built up for a streak will have a battle royale loss on their record. But realistically, the only guys who could possibly get another streak built are the Shield guys, all of whom are undefeated at Mania.

    ReplyDelete
  169. I should probably specify that I don't think a second streak will ever be built, nor should building one be any sort of priority for WWE. Or for anyone. Ever.

    ReplyDelete
  170. A minor streak would be good. Like anywhere from 7-9 wins in a row.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Do BR and RR eliminations count as "losses" in streak terms?

They still portray Rusev as undefeated, I'm sure, and he's been eliminated from a couple.

  177. Oh gross. I go in on Fridays (to deal with said wah wah babies), but other than that it's work from home. I'm just using up the last of my Use or Lose time on the days I'd have to go to the office. I haven't physically been in the office since November. I'm trying to get into auditing, which is all from home save site visits.

In which case, maybe it's worth picking up second hand, just to see The Aphex Twin playing the part of Summer Rae alone.

  194. I've got SuperGNES (it's got a new name now, but I can't remember it!) on my Note 10.1, which plays most SNES roms. I don't see why the Nexus 7 wouldn't be able to.

Get yourself an OTG cable and you can plug in a PS3 pad, too, which improves things considerably.
