How to Order Wrestle Kingdom 9 on NJPW World

Less than 10 hours away from the biggest show of the year. The Tokyo Dome is apparently sold out, which means over 60,000 in attendance, their biggest crowd in a decade. The main event, IC title match, and NEVER Openweight title match in particular look incredibly strong. Lots of North American talent all over the card including AJ Styles, Shelton Benjamin, Young Bucks, reDRagon, Alex Shelley, Davey Boy Smith Jr, Jeff Jarrett, Karl Anderson, and more. The best part? It's only 999 yen, which is only about 8 DOLLARS~!

The homeboy, puro historian and tape trader Roy Lucier has put together a video on how to order the NJPW network. It only took me about 3 or 4 minutes, following the video. Not only do you get tonight's gigantic PPV, also this week you would get the Kōrakuen Hall show, and two NJPW/CMLL shows later this month... for only 8 dollars and some change. Tonight's show is a CAN'T MISS. Enjoy...

How is Jumbo Tsuruta? He was always one of my favourite Japanese wrestlers...

    What?! No!!!

How is Mitsuharu Misawa taking it?

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHH!

    OMG!!! This can't be happening!

I hope Shinya Hashimoto isn't mourning too much about this...

  7. Thanks, Dock! I'm going to try this out.

And you know he's going to really good and call it like a damn professional. None of those hackneyed sports entertainment metaphors.

  9. Good to hear it's near sold out.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Take that Vince!

    ReplyDelete
  11. McMahon.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I wonder if he even knows it's happening?

    ReplyDelete
  13. He's senile, Vince thinks JCP still exists.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Do I have to use a proxy like I do for the network as I'm in the UK and wrestling companies hate us?

    ReplyDelete
  15. "Inoki's at it again, huh! The crazy map!"

    ReplyDelete
  16. This is great, but I'm a little unclear about something. Would this be a subscription to this service? Or is it just a one time charge of $8? If it's the former, how easy is it to cancel?

  18. It's a rolling subscription, but easy to cancel. See here: http://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/2nxb1q/how_to_sign_up_for_njpw_world_compliments_of/

  19. Jim Ross will have him on a short leash.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Giant Baba is consoling him. Softly, gently, with a million hot pokers.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Jim Ross is commentating?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Slobber knocker! Bah gawd!

    ReplyDelete
  23. It's the Wrestlemania phenomena, only in Japan it extends to a wide range of New Years Traditions.

In Japan, New Years is a 4 or 5 day holiday with lots of traditions, from watching bad enka singers on TV at home instead of partying on New Years Eve, to lining the streets for two days to watch college kids run from Tokyo to Hakone and back.

Tokyo Dome wrestling on the last night of New Years is just one of those traditions. And the rise in NJPW viewership directly correlates with the fall of K1.

    ReplyDelete
  24. For the record, the NJPW World version is NOT Ross & Striker. That's the U.S. ppv version, which may or may not be live at midnight, depending on your cable provider.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Wish they took Paypal on NJPW World. I'll probably order the Flipps version on the replay tomorrow night, though.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Do you have a debit card? Took my Visa debit no problem.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Good knowledge. I was wondering why their show was always January 4th. I guess it's not that different to WWE's annual MSG Boxing Day house show.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I know people having been having trouble with Flipps all day, don't know why, but it's worth looking into..

    ReplyDelete
  29. Just so you know, if you order the show through NJPW World there is no JR./Striker commentary. To get that you have to order the event through your cable/satellite provider of through the flipp app.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Dock, you should have also shown you can order it through cable/satellite and the flipp app and that's the only way you get the JR/Striker commentary.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Think we'll get a rant on the show?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Debit cards are a totally different thing in Canada.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thanks for pointing that out.

    ReplyDelete
  34. My debit card works!

  35. Here are some fantastic videos by Matt Striker that explain all the matches and wrestlers really well: IWGP Heavyweight Championship Tanahashi vs The Rainmaker https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nZkV-mBD7tU

IWGP Intercontinental Championship Nakamura vs Ibushi https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7OuTrO6AGI4

    AJ Styles vs Naito https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=203cXP_cBpo

IWGP Jr Heavyweight Tag Championship 4 team match https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=awrwhBd8J1Q

    NEVER Openweight championship: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwgcLu1Q_pg

UWFI rules match (knockout and submission only): https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YzT7BUWwx78

6 man tag match with Bullet Club: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6McHFtyxXWM

These videos are what finally convinced me to order the PPV.

    ReplyDelete
  36. You don't have a credit card?

    ReplyDelete
  37. So what's going to be the better match? Tanahashi/Okada or Nakamura/Ibushi?

    ReplyDelete
  38. That's how it works in the UK too, and my card worked for NJW. Might be different depending on the bank though.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Maaaaaan... The first 6 Tanahashi/Okada matches would suggest it would be those two, but the Nakamura/Ibushi match from '13 that won all the awards was better than almost all of them. It's a toss up. That said, Ishii/Makabe could be the show stealer.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Okada/Tanahashi is the match with most expectations, I consider Okada this generation's Flair.

    ReplyDelete
  41. The four-way tag opener should be great too, and Naito/Styles have a no pressure slot to steal the show.

    ReplyDelete
  42. The UWFi rules match might be the surprise of the night, Suzuki is terrific heel (one that could make a tag with Lesnar), Sakuraba works as the good guy. Both have MMA experience so there's a lot of respect by the crowds.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Never heard that comparison, but I like it. What's crazy is that Flair wasn't the #1 guy until his mid 30's. At 27, Okada's barely sniffing 30.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The look, the gimmick, the way he wrestles. It would be a dream to see Flair in non-self parody mode managing him.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I find him a little lacking in charisma for that. Obviously a great wrestler though.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Tanahashi is still the best in the world, though. So it's going to be an incredible match.

    ReplyDelete
  47. What's this cost on Dish?

It's only in SD on DISH wTF.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Around 2012, yes. Gedo carried his mic work, when he got in the mid of 2013 he was a complete performer.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Don't forget Ishii/Makabe and Suzuki/Sakuraba, those might the surprises of the night.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Compared to Flair, I mean. To me, He has an appropriately Dibiase quality about him.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I have no idea how that Suzuki match is gonna turn out, but I'm intrigued by it.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oh hell yeah! How will Shelton Benjamin be involved? Easily one of my favorite performers from those years of the WWE

    ReplyDelete
  53. Expect Suzuki trash talking, a lot of trash talking.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Suzuki is one of my favorite heels because he's so ruthless and just beats dudes up.

    ReplyDelete
  55. He can work his comic side too, he can be a bigger douche than Brock is.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I've not seen his comic side yet. I'll look forward to it!

    ReplyDelete
  57. That judo throw into sleeper is so good.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Saka-Otoshi, I did that when I used to practice Judo.

    ReplyDelete
  59. 2 AM EST start, right?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Check the matches he had with Yano in 2013, great comedy. The story is around Yano, the inferior wrestler, tusing every trick in the book to survive against him. It's hilarious how Yano would escape from his wrath.

    ReplyDelete
  61. This is sweet. I'm really considering paying for World in order to see this show. One question tho, chances are I might be falling asleep during the live broad cast of this show. Will World still have the PPV after its done?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Oh! That explains their G1 match now!

    ReplyDelete
  63. This will be the best wrestling show of the year. Love me some Nakamura, YEAOOOOOHH

    ReplyDelete
  64. They've started releasing faux credit cards in Canada that you can use as a credit card online even though it just takes money out of your bank acount (no credit, no debt, no bill)

    Greatest thing ever.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'm ordering on traditional ppv with some friends.

    JR on commentary baby!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I am going to order through the cable company tomorrow. It says it is 6pm to 11pm. Is it really that long?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Striker reminds me of if Charlie from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia ever got hit shit together.

    ReplyDelete
  68. The extra time is for JR stumbling through Japanese names.

    ReplyDelete
  69. indeed.. always..

    ReplyDelete
  70. Much as I'd like to hear the English commentary, there's no fucking way I'm paying $44.95 for the privilege.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Why would anyone order this with Japanese commentary? Besides Japanese people obvy. Like Pat Morita.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Indy geek cred.

    ReplyDelete
  73. It's much cheaper so if you are already a big fan and don't need the English commentary I get it.

    ReplyDelete
  74. It's more tolerable than listening to Matt Striker, who is fucking awful... I actually dig the Japanese commentary.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Matt Striker has done a great job with his videos, I think with JR he'll be fine.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Yeah, it's the Japanese Wrestling WrestleMania.

    ReplyDelete
  77. He's pretty decent on VT's. But horrible doing live commentary. "I'm marking out bro!"

That's Shelton X Benjamin, to you!

I mark out for BAD LUCK FALE. The music the powerbomb, he's like Sid.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Meanwhile I just watched Ibushi vs Ricochet and it totally justified the $8-ish.

  86. "STYLESUU CLASHUUU!!!!"

    ReplyDelete
  87. I don't like to use them for online stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  88. The one with the royal rumble is said to come on at 11:15 pacific..

    ReplyDelete
  89. Thanks. Wrestlemania isn't even that long though. I think my buddy's limit is probably 3 .

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yeah, his Lucha commentary has been way better than his WWE days.

    ReplyDelete
  91. For me, I'm just used of the Japanese commentary now. It's hard to justify $45 just for the English commentary. If they were the same price, I'd go English.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I've convinced three of my friends (who've never watched any puro) to watch this with me and split the cost of ordering it on cable. I'm pretty fucking juiced. I've only watched a handful of njpw matches and have been looking for a good place to jump in. This seems perfect.
