No Mercy 99

Scott,

Was just wondering why at No Mercy 99, Jarrett was not outright squashed by Chyna? We know the story of him holding up for money due to his contract having expired, why not have Chyna destroy him in under a minute to win the IC title? Even worse, they had a dusty finish with Jarrett pinning Chyna but being declared invalid due to the IC belt not being a house hold item. What gives?

I think it was a case of everyone knowing that Jarrett was dropping the title, so they wanted to swerve people, or something.  The whole thing was pretty embarrassing as a fan all around anyway, from forgetting to renew the contract of one of your champions to pushing Chyna as a serious competitor against the men.

  1. I remember watching live and telling all my buddies that Chyna winning was a foregone conclusion because of Jarrett leaving, and I was dumbfounded when it appeared Jarrett won.

Um, Chyna looked like she could kill half of the roster. I don't think that was a big stretch of believability whatsoever.

  3. Jarrett did so much during that feud to put Chyna over when he could've been a dick about having to lose to a girl. I wonder if Chyna didn't want to squash Jarrett on his way out; give back the favor.

  4. Chyna being taken seriously against the men was embarrassing as a fan... and on top of that she sucked!

if you're going to be given the chance to booked seriously and put over established guys at least take the time to learn a few offensive moves besides "no sell a ball shot"

  5. Yeah Scott always buries Chyna in his rants, and while I agree she wasn't that talented, she was at least over and she had credibility against the man. Jarrett losing to Chyna never destroyed Jarrett's credibility like Scott claimed because a ton of guys jobbed to Chyna and it never hurt them.

  6. I so hated Chyna festering the midcard around 2000. She obviously couldn't wrestle and dragged down a lot of great talent around her. They should have put in the lightweight filler matches with Malenko, Scotty Go Potty, and that guy with Lita.

  7. Really Scott an embarrassment? Really?

  8. Ya think Jarrett regrets holding Vince up for that money? Double J definitely hitched his cart to the wrong horse in that war.

  9. Indeed. Jarrett is like the bizarro version of HHH to me. Basically the same guy, without the juice and sucked the wrong dicks.

  10. Oh man, that was one of the biggest shit eating grins ever...

  11. I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I stand by the statement that the caller has been watching for too long. If he had stopped watching 10 years ago, it wouldn't have been that big a deal. To a new audience, it is new material.

Compare to a comic book, where every plot is essentially bad guy wants money or to take over the world. Hero attempts to stop them. Has momentary setback for 3 pages. Then prevails. Sure, there are comics that are more complex than that (that I enjoy) but many are just that. This is not a criticism nor a bad thing. It is aimed at children, who will enjoy the simple action/adventure stories, then move on to more sophisticated titles as they mature.

There's a reason I stopped reading Spiderman and superman when I was 13.

  12. He's up there with Bryan in babyface comebacks. Impeccable timing on 'em.

  13. If reigns isn't in the world title match at mania, where would he realistically fit though?

Cena is with rusev, and Rollins seemingly is with face Orton. Heel Ambrose maybe I guess, but that's not major, and neither man can lose really...

    So, has to be Brock!

  15. I miss her on TV... then Impact was just a reality show about a delusional promoter and her playthings promotion.

Dixie is like me when I was 9 with my wrestling toys... and I wrote better storylines...

    ...allegedly.

  17. I still remember when they censored Hennig on Thunder one time for calling Goldberg "Goldturd".

    They censored turd?!
